Almost as soon as the doors were opened to the History of Magic Classroom, Becca entered and grinned from ear to ear at Lainey. "Miss Professor Lainey," she greeted calmly with a slight nod of the head. Of course, she was incredibly thrilled to be in the woman's class, but surely she would not show it. "How are you this lovely day? And why are you dressed like a tree?"

"Professor Lainey!!" Gwen bounced into the History of Magic classroom, glad to see one of her favorite professors, especially since she hadn't seen her this term. Or since she'd popped Melita in the face and run for the hills, for that matter. "Where've you--been....?" Gwen trailed off at Lainey's outfit for this lesson. "....Are we going to learn about trees?"

Jillian walked into the History of Magic classroom, about to make her usual announcement that she had arrived to class when her eyes were set upon Professor Lainey. She gaped for a moment then caught herself.

"Good day, Professor," she greeted politely, "Interesting ensemble...I'm guessing we're having an interesting lesson too!" she giggled then took a seat right up front. She would not want to miss any of this!

Astrid came bouncing into the classroom, ready for the lesson to begin, when she stopped dead in her tracks at the sight of the professor. She looked at her curiously for just a moment before saying, "Hello Professor. How are you today?" Then she sat down quickly feeling slightly embarrassed.

Ryan walked into History of Magic, looking forward to the day's lesson. This was always a fun class, so he had an extra bounce in his step on this day. Plus, the first quidditch match of the season was coming up soon, and that was ALWAYS something to look forward to.

"Hello there, Professor," he said smiling. To be perfectly honest, he wasn't surprised by her look....at all.

"I'm not dressed like a tree - and this isn't Herbology, so it's not a lesson on trees...," Lainey shrugged. "Everyone grab a seat, but as usual, no one get too comfy!"

Becca raised her eyebrows and frowned slightly. She didn't have to say it like that, she thought, hopping up onto the tabletop of a desk and swinging her legs. Hey, if they were not going to get comfortable, then why actually sit down in the desk? That was pointless. And less fun.

Jean Raoul walked warily into the History of Magic classroom. He was not altogether thrilled with the thought of a history class--it had never been one of his strong points, after all. But he figured he might as well give it a try, and so he would. He nodded to the oddly-dressed professor as he took a seat.

True, it was weird that she was wearing what looked to be camouflage. But perhaps she just happened to like camouflage, or something. He knew nothing about the professor, so he could not judge. He could just be polite. "Good day, professor," he said politely.

Ariana walked into the History of Magic classroom full of smiles as she saw her favorite professor wearing...green? "Err, hello professor Lainey!" she exclaimed, trying to figure out what the woman was wearing. "Erm, are you in a muggle mood today??" she asked curiously.

Valentine walked into the classroom. She looked around. There did seem to be a tree sitting in the classroom. But listening to the people around her the person who was all dressed as though about to go off into war- was their teacher. Quietly she sat down in a desk and waited for class to begin.

"Our kind can wear camouflage, too!"Lainey laughed at Ariana's comment. "It's the height of fashion! Or was like... a decade ago." Lainey did a strut across the classroom to show off her outfit and face paint. "You all are going to have to get "camo'd" up, too, you know." Lainey pointed to the pile of camouflage shirts in the box in the corner of her room. "Everyone get a shirt on. And most important, get those faces painted!" Lainey pulled the shirt box and box of face paints to the middle of the room.


"Class won't start until everyone is camouflage!"

Valentine looked at the corner where the paint and the shirts were sitting. She got up and walked over to the table and threw on one of the t-shirts. This was bad, and fitted awful. But it wasn't as though she could complain. Instead she just tucked it in slightly into her pants and grabed the paint. Quickly- and artistically well done- she smeared it on her hands and face.

Ryan had to paint his face?! What?! Well...it was Lainey's class, so he figured he should just do it. He pointed his wand at his face and muttered a spell that would paint his face camouflaged. It wasn't exactly the best look on him, but he did enjoy the idea of face paint. He would have to keep that in mind for the match on Friday when he was playing keeper...he wanted to psych those Gryffindors out.

After he was done, this face looked like this (in fact, he completely changed his appearance! Lawl)

Astrid went to the front of the room and grabbed the gear the she would need to transform her appearance like the Professor had. She carefully applied the camo paint to her face and put the shirt on before showing the class how she looked. She turned to Gwen and said, "Do I look as gross as I feel?"

Ari laughed, "I suppose we do professor, great for Aurors wouldn't it?" she added with a wink before walking over to the pile and grabbing a shirt, putting it on and looking at herself. Green and brown was so not her colors. Next came the makeup; the one part she hated wearing. She was not a make up kind of girl. give her mud and dirt any day she thought as she began plastering the stuff on her face, knowing how to put it on.

When she was done she looked up[ and grinned, "Ready for my closeup." she joked, chuckling a bit.

Jean Raoul only hesitated for a moment before painting his face. He did not see the point in it, but if everyone was in camouflage, it would certainly make the class more interesting. Even though it was already the most interesting history class of any sort that he had ever attended. When he finished painting, he ended up looking rather silly, but was camouflaged all the same. Sniffing his painted hand, Jean Raoul grimaced and tried not to breathe through his nose. He certainly smelled as if he had rolled in a pile of rotting leaves, which was probably just exactly how he looked.

Becca hopped off the desk. Okay, so maybe getting dressed up like Lainey today wouldn't be the coolest thing, but there was always the chance that, in this attire, they would get the opportunity to go on some sort of adventure. This is the prime reason that she hurried over to the box and threw on the snazziest looking shirt in there.

Now for the paint. "Hm," was all she said in brief hesitation before returning to her desk and digging in her bag. She pulled out her compact mirror and opened it, smirking at her own reflection. Becca casually patted down her hair before taking some face paint and creatively decorating her face. She hummed a quiet song to herself before finishing, snapping the mirror shut and placing it back in her bag. Oh yeah, she thought she looked good.

Lucas was too excited about this lesson he didn't know what they were going to do, but painting one's face black and green was always better than sitting through a boring lesson. Lucas quickly covered his face with the paint and waited to see what they were going to do.

Lainey was so pleased with her students. "You guys... you look SO GOOD! Let's go sit in a bush and eavesdrop on the students not in class!" Lainey grinned like she was probably joking - but who could tell? - and started towards the door. "Class will continue outside if you all want to follow!"

Ryan quickly followed Lainey outside. The prospect of spying on fellow students was highly enticing. He hoped they would catch some snippets of some quidditch talk or gossip about the school. He had sort of been cooped up in his dormitory (of his own down), so he needed to learn what was going on this year.

Nancy entered the classroom with an annoyed expression on her face. Great. History of Magic. The very subject she almost despised as much as Herbology. With an exasperated sigh she looked around the room to see if at least someone she knew and liked was there. But no, even this last flicker of hope to survive this lesson was being extinguished.
With another sigh Nancy desperately thought of an excuse to skip today's History of Magic-class but gave up quickly since she had already racked her brain on that topic too often. Walking down the aisle of desks she reached one in the far back of the classroom and made herself plop into the corresponding chair. This was definitely going to be a looong and dull lesson for Nancy.

Looking towards the professor with tired eyes to listen to her instructions Nancy frowned at her excitement. Yeah. That really was fun to smear paint into your face and put on weird shirts. Nancy couldn't think of anything more droll to do. Not. She rolled her eyes towards the ceiling as she stood up to walk over towards the paint and the T-shirts. Pulling out the shirt that looked the least disgusting she quickly pulled it over her head and then walked over towards the paint.
Ha-ha. Yes, really, hilarious. Her frown didn't leave her face while she was randomly smearing some green, brown and black paint across her cheeks and her forehead. Meh. That was just so gross, well not as gross as the weird substance the Medical Intern had put on her knee the other day but still. Eew.

With another unnerved sigh Nancy went over to where all the other students were standing and followed the professor out of the classroom.

Laylee smiled at her professor as she walked in the HoM classroom. She did as she asked and grabbed some camouflage and face paint. Laylee was pretty sure she had never experienced a class like this! But, HoM was always a fun class.
