Juniper raised her hand. “The first pinnacle represents the earlier years of your life,” she guessed.

Ellie raised her right hand. “ First Pinnacle tells us about our character. It is there for very personal reasons. This is a time when we develop our egos and define our sense of self. Professor Shackleton quickly stopped this line of thinking and replied, "I think you misunderstood me. I didn't ask how to calculate the First Pinnacle. I asked what it represents. In other words, its significance to us."

Professor Shackleton smiled and explained, "It seems like someone researched another source. I'm impressed and will award you three house points. However, I only asked for an explanation of the First Pinnacle, not all four. Next time I ask a question, please pay attention to what I ask and do not provide more information than requested. Otherwise, you don't give your classmates a chance to probe their minds for possible answers."

Professor Shackleton elaborated to the class, "The First Pinnacle is one of the longest periods, covering approximately ages 0 through 27, which is three nine-year cycles, at the least and can be up to 35 for some. It varies in length for each person. The energy of the First Pinnacle cultivates character and develops your sense of self.

"The Second Pinnacle is a period of blossoming and ripening, a period of responsibility and family, with a duration of nine years. The Third Pinnacle covers middle age and maturity and, like the Second Pinnacle, is nine years in length. It is a time of manifestation and reward. And lastly, the Fourth Pinnacle represents a time of aging and wizening, of retirement and reflection, and spiritual wisdom. It is the harvest cycle and lasts at least three cycles of nine years, roughly from age 50 to the end of life.

"So, how do we calculate the four Pinnacles? I'd like each person to only provide ONE calculation. So choose one of the four Pinnacles and tell me how to find it."

Daphne flipped through the text book, looking for the answer. She found a neat little blurb that told her the exact answer. She shot her hand up and said in a clear voice, "To calculate the Third pinnacle, you add the First and Second pinnacles together!"

Destiny forgot about her shyness and raised her hand. "First pinnacle is your month of your birthday plus the day of your birthday," said Destiny.

Melly grimaced but did not give up. She had to get some points. "The second pinnacle is simply adding the day of birth to the year of birth," She nodded.

Sabrina bit her lips, but then replied. "The first pinnacle is calculated by adding the month of birth and the day of birth."

Steelsheen raised her hand and replied:

" The 1st pinnacle can be computed by adding one's birth month plus one's date of birth. For example, like myself, my birth month is June, which is equivalent to 6, add that to my birthday, 5th, so 6+ 5= 11. 11 is my First Pinnacle number"

Amelia had been sitting towards the window, surprisingly not speaking during the first few questions. Normally she would have been jumping up and down in her seat with the subject matter, but just not today it seemed. Listening to the professor, she vaguely heard the next question. Flipping through her text she then raised her hand before speaking, "You calculate the second pinnacle by adding together the day of your birthday and the year of birth. So for instance, I was born on the 1st in the year 2048. Adding the numbers in the year and simplifying, I would get 5, but then add that to the 1 from the day of my birth and my second pinnacle is 6."

The slytherin girl sighed and then said "If you want to calculate the Third pinnacle, you add the First and Second pinnacles together."

Anna raised her hand. "Professor, there are formulas we use to find each of the four pinnacles. The first pinnacle is month of birth + day of birth. The second pinnacle is day of birth + year of birth. The third pinnacle is the first and second pinnacle's added together. The fourth pinnacle is month of birth + year of birth."

Anna did some quick calculations and figured out her third pinnacle number.

First pinnacle: 9 + (1+9) =
9 + (1+0) =
9 + 1 = 10
1 + 0 = 1

Second pinnacle: (1+9) + (2+0+5+0) =
(1+0) + 7 =
1 + 7 = 8

Third pinnacle: 1 +8 = 9

"If I've done my calculations correctly, my third pinnacle is a 9, professor. According to the textbook, it says nine's show a significant amount of compassion and love and uplift others."
