Allie walked into the classroom.
"Hello, Professor." she said taking a seat.

Amelia entered the Ancient Runes class somewhat reluctantly since she heard DeLuca wouldn't be teaching them this year. Nervous about the new teacher, she sat in the second row and smiled up at the Professor who was sitting behind a desk. "Good day professor," she said politely, as she took out her notebook from previous years. It might be useful...

Not sure of what to expect, Evangeline made her way into the Ancient Runes classroom, dusting off her skirt just to be sure. She didn't want to lose points just because her uniform wasn't as neat as it was supposed to be! Hmm. She doubted the new teacher could see that though. "Good day, Professor." She politely said, before making her way to an empty desk and getting ready to class.

Ariana walked into the classroom and blinked. It looked so ... different! Surely that meant things would be okay, right? Though only time will tell she thought as she threw a smile at the professor and said in a kind voice, "Hello Professor, how are you today?" She knew the way to not loose points was to be nice. So far it had worked, but she never knew. Sitting down near the front, she opened her notebook and waited.

Ellie entered the Ancient Runes with her notebook on her hands, she didn't know what to expect from that lesson.
"Good day, Professor."she said with a polite smile and then made her way to an empty desk.

*Sheeta walked into class and looked at the professor sitting at her desk. Sheeta smiled at the teacher and took a desk next to the only Hufflepuff she saw in the classroom at the time.*

"Hi!" Sheeta greeted Mia as she sat down, "Didn't we briefly meet in the common room the first night here?"

"Good day to you all" Norma entertained, that she heard that with no muffles what so ever. She smiled at that thought, but addressed the class. "We'll wait a few more minutes before we commence class. Although I do request you raise your hand before answering a question or asking one at that".

Amelia looked over to see a first year Hufflepuff sitting next to her. She smiled warmly at her and nodded, about to respond but stopped as the Professor spoke up. Listening to the Professor she nodded in understanding her request before looking back to the Hufflepuff.

She then wrote down on a small corner of parchment, 'yes. we did. But we'll talk after class' and passed it to the girl discreetly, giving her a knowing wink.

Rhiannon walked into Ancient Runes, curious on what they were going to be doing in class. Not that she'd ask, especially since this class was with one of the Ministry professors. She still had no idea what to think of them. But was going to make the best of the situation, if she could.

Walking over to a desk near Mia, she smiled at the professor, sitting at her desk, and said, "Hello Professor." She sat down at her desk, and tried to look like she was ready and willing to learn, taking a notebook and something to write with.

Katrina entered the Ancient Runes classroom, hoping that her first lesson would go okay. She'd heard that A. Runes wasn't exactly easy. Grabbing a desk next to the Huffie Prefect- Amelia?- she pulled out her notebook and quill, and waited for the lesson to start. About to talk to Amelia, she noticed that someone else was talking to her and so, she settled back into silence.

*Sheeta read the note and smiled. She winked back to the older girl and sat waiting to learn more about her witchy world. Sheeta giggled softly at the thought.*

Ari sat back in her seat, suddenly feeling very much alone, even though there were students around. She needed someone to talk too, well that and to get out of the school for awhile to think clearly with unwanted emotions demanding her attention. Opening her notebook to a fresh clean page, she took out her eagle feather quill, stopped and looked at it before gulping and dropped it back into her bag.

Sighing loudly she closed her eyes for a minute then took out a normal quill, slinking back into her seat.

Amelia turned as Rhiannon sat down next to her and gave her a smile, but then yet another person sat down next to her! Another first year hufflepuff; giving the student a smile, she decided she was feeling awfully crowded. Looking to the row in front of her, she saw Ari sitting very much by herself. Feeling bad, she nodded towards the three around her and picked her bag and notebook up to move to sit next to Ari. Smiling at her Ravenclaw friend, she then waited for the lesson to begin.

Oh yeah. This is the deaf one.

Gwen had never been to an Ancient Runes class before, and was excited to learn...but not from a Ministry professor. She scribbled on the edge of her parchment, waiting for class to begin, although honestly expecting to end up translating an ancient love poem about the Minister or some such nonsense.

As Katrina sat, the Hufflepuff Prefect gave her a smile, and then,glancing in the front, moved off to sit with a Ravvie girl. Rina could see why; it was awfully crowded in this little area. Oh well, she might as well get to know other people too. Scooting over to the next seat, she smiled at the other Huffie and said," Hi! Are you in the first year too?"

Torie walked into the Ancient Runes classroom and found a seat near the front of the class. She looked around the room, craning her neck to find someone she knew. With a sigh, she turned her attention to the Professor. She didn't know the woman, but she always thought first impressions were the most important ones. "Hello, Professor." she said softly. "It is a pleasure to meet you."

Nudging her glasses one more time, Norma coughed gently to clear her throat.

"Alright, It is time" she perked around the classroom to get a better look at the girls. Most of them were new faces to her. After a moment of registering them, she said out loud, or as loud as she can go. "I hope everyone read the first chapter in your text book before arriving to class". She gave them that she'll know look before carrying on, "we shall start with the introduction to Runes and some basic history revolving around it" she cleared her throat and continued.

"Runes is an Ancient Germanic alphabet, it is mainly used for Divination, some part of Arithmancy and Magick" she emphasized on the letter K too much that she ended up sneezing. She wasn't quick enough to bring her handkerchief up to her nose and most likely spattered a few students sitting up front.

"Excuse me" she cleared her throat, "Runes was mostly used at first in the northern parts of Europe, can someone list some of these countries?"

Torie raised her hand. "Professor, do you count the Scandinavian countries as part of Europe? I know they were used in Denmark."

Anna raised her hand and then replied, "Runes are said to have originated in the Scandinavian Peninsula, particularly Norway and Sweden, with the addition of Denmark."

"Would that be the Scandinavian countries, professor?" Evangeline asked, hand raised in the air. "Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Finland and Iceland, to be more precise." She really wasn't sure.

Katrina started copying the notes quickly, quill scratching on paper. She recoiled slightly as the teacher sneezed and tried not to look disgusted. Unfortuntely, she realized she'd forgotten to read the lesson. She could've kicked herself; she was going to lose an opportunity to earn points! Yippee.

Amelia listened to the Professor and then raised her hand before speaking, "Would some of these counties be ones like Norway, Iceland, or Scandinavia." she suggested.

The Slytherin girl quickly raised her hand. "Runes are said to have originated in the Scandinavian Peninsula, Denmark and Sweden." then quickly added. "Oh and Norway too."
She wasn't quite sure.

Ari, who was lost in her own little world, never noticed anyone moving over to sit beside her until she heard a small shuffling noise. Looking up she glanced beside her and smiled. Somehow Mia always knew when she needed a friend and now was no different. Nodding her head since she didn't, nor couldn't speak she turned back to the front and waited patiently, wondering what kind of things they'd be learning.

Just then lesson began and she put her hand in the air almost immediately. She was listening intently when the professor sneezed - without a handkerchief. Moving back so she wouldn't get sprayed she acted as if nothing bothered her and put her hand up. "Err I think they're, Norway, Denmark, Finland and Iceland Professor.." she trailed off, frowning.
