Sho walked by the student gardens dressed in his shorts and Ravenclaw t-shirt he had made for Quidditch last term. He was glancing at all the interesting flowers as he went. The morning light and the dew were a lovely enhancement to the beautiful creations.

Just then a glint caught his eye. Something metallic was shining in the morning sunlight, so he crept toward it.

"Sho's Silver Rose x Yellow Carnation (unnamed)"

He blinked and squatted down, holding the tag in his hand. It was his flower from the final last term! It... survived! And it seemed to be doing well. Sho smiled and felt the soil in its pot. It was a little dry so he took a watering can and sprinkled a bit on the soil.

"Unnamed still..." he looked around, but Prof. Erikson was probably still asleep. "Hmm..."

He looked up and saw the sun still creeping up, then back at his shimmering flower. That was it.

"Sunrise Carnation..." he said softly. "I'll tell Prof. Erikson next time I see him."

Liz walked over to Sho while holding on to Tancred's hand."Hey Sho! What's that? It looks beautiful."

"Hm? Oh. Hey Liz," he said, standing up from the pot and dusting his hands off.

"Its the flower I made last term for the Herbology final."

"Oh kewl! Can I see? I love nature." Liz said leading Tancred over to Sho. She let go of Tancred's hand and knelled down to look at the flower.She looked around and saw the sign. She read it and ran over to the shed to get supplies so she could make her own flower grow!

"Umm, I guess so. The garden is open to everyone," he smiled.

He looked around at the cherry trees and the other pots that were around the garden. He hoped the plant would thrive so that it could be transplanted elsewhere.

Saylie had wandered around the castle and found the way outside. She noticed some gardens off to the side and wandered through them, noticing that these were student gardens and that they were neatly sectioned off into planters. "Ooh, so pretty!" She whispered, looking into each planter at the hybrid plants.

Sho smiled and put the watering can back. He bowed politely to the first year from his house and looked back at his flower.

"Enjoy the plants! Mine's that goldish carnation," he said happily. "See you around!"

He bowed again and went back toward the castle.

Saylie had been studying a blue and purple frilled lily, and looked up slightly startled. She gave a small wave and then followed where he looked as he told her which flower was his. She nodded and smiled as he headed back towards the castle and went to investigate his flower.

It was a carnation of sorts, and it was (as he had stated) goldish in color...but there was something else about it, something slightly shimmery that just made you look at it.

She looked around and realized that she needed to get back to the castle, so she looked at the flower one last time and followed the path back towards the Castle.

Ryan bounced into the garden and headed over toward the northern planters. As he bobbed along, he saw Sho and waved. "Hey, Sho!" he called. "Here to take care of your plant, I presume? I am."

He glanced down and saw his flower. The label on it said, "Ryan's Royal Iris x Easter Lily(unnamed): lily with frilled petals in blue and purple." He smiled and mumbled, "Mom'll love this. It's beautiful." He knelt down closer to the flower, examining the petals. "Blue and purple...hmmm....might as well call it Rowena's Lily."

Noticing the soil looked a little dry, he walked over to the watering cans and filled one up. He brought it back and drizzled the plant with water, talking to it (he heard it helps for positive growth).

Then a girl came over. He smiled brightly and said, "Oh, hello. Are you enjoying my lily? I think it's fabulous."

Hermy walked into the student garden in amazement. She had been looking forward to this addition to the Herbology suite since Professor Erikson had mentioned it in their final lesson last year. Scanning the rows of different hybrids, Hermy's eyes came to rest on a plant that shimmered in purple, blue, and gold. She knew immediately it was her creation, a hybrid inspired by the old worn book she had been studying so carefully throughout last term and the summer, and she was thrilled to see how healthy it looked.

True, this was not quite the exact replica of the hybrid she had yearned for - a Winter Love Lily being used in place of the rare Ravenheart iris - but Professor Erikson had chosen the perfect replacement. Yes, the shade was paler than that seen in the book, but the Ravenclaw colours, the beautiful slender spread petals, they were the best she could have hoped for. She had a few names in mind, but firstly she wanted to immortalise the image in front of her.

From the bag Hermy had over her shoulder, she pulled out a medium sized sketchpad. Contained in it were sketches accumulated throughout her years at Hogwarts, minus a few pages here and there that she had given to friends. Sitting down in front of the planter, Hermy laid the pad on her lap and reached for a paintbrush.

Sho walked back down to the student gardens, looking at his flower again. He smiled happily, then looked up at Erikson's office. He wondered what was going on in there now that he had left...

Oh well...

He put his hands on his hips and smiled, looking at the petals of his carnation shimmer.

Cassandra walked out toward the castle, but stopped at the student gardens. Lets see this Sunrise Carnation flower she thought to herself. But walking out she saw Sho. "Why is it you seem to be everywhere I am?" she asked looking towards the garden, there it was. It was actually rather pretty.

Wyndale had finally found the Student Gardens! Oh, Joy!

She reached into her pocket, and brought out her kitten. She had tried to leave it on her bed, but every time she sat down it was either lying across her shoulder, or burrowing into her pocket. It was always with her. Today her kitten was deep black with light golden eye. Its eyes have never changed, but its coat sure did! One day it was orange, the next it might be white, or tabby, or black. The kitten was a different color every day! She'd have to talk to a professor about this soon. She'd also have to come up with a name for this kitten, but right now she wanted to enjoy the gardens!

She sat the kitten on the ground, stroked it back, and they began to walk. She was flowers, fruit trees, and plants she'd never imagine existed! What a delight!
It was a perfect moment, on a perfect day!

“I can’t wait for Herbology classes to begin!” she said out loud.

Cassandra jumped back looking at the Ravenclaw first year. She raised an eyebrow. It's an infestation... she thought to herself, either the whole first year class was smart, or the sorting hat fell off it's stood one too many times. She turned back to the carnation and gazed at it. "It's... pretty." She said of Sho's flower.

Hermy looked up from her work to see a young student with a kitten. She rinsed her brush and started to mix up a soft lilacy blue.

Hearing the Ravenclaw speak, Hermy once again glanced round. "They'll start soon enough!" she laughed, shaking her curls back from where they had fallen forward whilst she worked. "I'm Hermy by the way, and I must say that is a delightful little kitten you have there - what's its name?"

Sho, looking at his flower, folded his arms across his chest and didn't look at Cassandra. He was not everywhere she was... she was everywhere he was. There was an obvious difference.

"I don't know. Perhaps our fates led us to the destiny of meeting each other out here. In any event, I'm here to look at my flower, not to bug you. I don't have that kind of time, you know," he said, still not looking at her. "Though... how did your little... visit... with Erikson go?"

Saylie had wandered back into the student gardens again...she felt calm here and that would help now after that first Potion lab. Let's see, she thought, I looked at the Carnation mix and that blue and purple flower, hmmm...I think I'll start at the other side today. She stopped at some plant that slightly resembled a daffodil. Smiling she moved on.

Cameron came down to the Student gardens. he hadnt been here yet even though he had been at the school for 5 years now. He looked around searching through all the interesting plants. he was unusally quiet. Tis could be because he had noone to talk to or because he had something on his mind at the particular moment

Miranda wandered aimlessly in the sea of plants, now quite bored by the once dear nature. There wasn't anything exciting around here now. She sat down in the grass toward the back of the garden and opened a book that she had just remembered was in her school bag. Opening it to the page where she left off, Miranda perched a pair of glasses on her nose and began to read.

Cameron noticed someone else had entered the garden. Seeing who it was he meerly walked over. He wasnt in the mood to play around today and to act all cool. "Hey I didnt know you read." he admitted to her. and sat down fiddling with his wand.

The faint shadow of a smile graced Cassandra's lips as she looked at the flower without really seeing it. She was seeing Erikson kiss her on the forhead, and the spot burned. The smile quickly faded into her usual snear. "It went well..." She said coldly, but then thought to hearself, Was he listening in?

"Why do you ask?"

"Oh nothing. I just saw how... smitten... you are with him while I was in the room. So Cassandra Trelawney's icy heart can be thawed out I see. Very interesting."

He turned to her, moving his hands to his hips and smirked.

"Nothing misses my eyes, missy."

Cassandra's eyes grew wide as he mentioned her being smitten. Her chin rose, she looked down at him. "Smitten? What made you think that?" She faked a smile, "Professor Erikson has suggested I learn to meditate with his wife, so I may... reconnect with my inner eye." She quickly lied. Good one though. "Inagaki, make no mistake, spread horrible rumors about me and I will have your head... You think Forrester was tough on you last year? 35 points was nothing." She began walking out of the garden, glancing quickly at his flower, then gave the boy a long look. "Ever had carnation tea?" She smirked and walking out of the gardens said "I hear it's heavenly if drunken at Sunrise."

"Like I'd even bother to talk about your love life with anyone. I'm not you, you know. Besides, if I ever did say anything, it'd be the truth and you know it. I can see through your lies you know," he said to her, not believing anything she said.

"I'd hate to have to represent you in court what with your lying and all."

He watched as she started to leave, but noticed she glanced at his flower. He rolled his eyes and folded his arms across his chest again. Let her ruin his flower. Who knows what would happen if someone used... in fact... that may not be a bad idea.

"Go ahead. Brew up my flower! Its not like I don't know how to breed another one. Though I doubt your crush would appreciate stealing one of his student's flowers."
