As you near the office of Kyle Carter, a light scent of spearmint fills your nostrils. Upon knocking sharply on the wooden door and poking your head through the doorway, you realize it is definitely the office of either a very messy female or a typical male. Books are scattered over table tops and a few stray papers have fallen to the floor, already forgotten about. Funny-looking quills that are really pens, pencils, and random stacks of parchment are piled in boxes on the floor near the corner. Nothing seems to be in any particular order, but that is the only way Professor Carter could possibly keep himself organized.

The walls had not changed since the last Muggle Studies professor had been in the office, with the exception of three large pictures: a trio of teenagers, Carter and his wife at a wedding, and a picture of him hugging a cheerful Golden Retriever. Two regular sized windows are located on opposite sides of the room, one slightly cracked to let some fresh air in. The same sturdy desk remains on the far side of the room from the door, but many navy blue cushioned chairs have been put up against the walls while some are facing the professor's desk. It sort of looks like a sloppy lounge where anyone could come and have a conversation, and that is exactly how Carter wants to have his guests feel - like they are at home. Even though he would remain silent most of the time, the company of others around would certainly be enjoyable.

Now as you approach the desk, Professor Carter stops working and tilts his head up at you with his astonishing deep blue eyes and a sweet half-smile. "Hello there! What can I help you with today?"

*walks up to Professor Carters office and knocks on the door* "Hello Professor...I was um wondering if I would be able to register for your class this semester...."

Professor Carter looked up at the knock on the door and gave the student a welcoming smile. At her question, he couldn't resist teasing her a bit. "Well... that depends on two things," he spoke, a hint of amusement gleaming in his eyes. "First, are you sure that you're magical? And two, are you enrolled in Hogwarts? If your answer is yes to both of these questions, then I see no problem whatsoever! I'd love to see you in my class, Miss...?"

*looks at the Professor* "Well I am muggle born but I can do magic and I am enrolled in Hogwarts...Im a Gryffindor..." *smiles at him* "Oh I forgot...Im Hermione Granger sir"

Erin approached the door of the new Muggle Studies professor's office. She felt she needed to check this man out, make sure he would be an adequate teacher. Though she completely trusted the Headmistress' decisions on who to hire, Erin had to make completely sure for herself that this Carter man would be a suitable replacement for their previous Muggle Studies professor.

The door was open a crack, so Erin poked her head in. There was another girl in there, talking to the man already, which pleased Erin. Perhaps she wasn't the only one who realized how necessary it was to inspect new professors.

"Uh, hi," Erin quickly said. She flashed the man a goofy smile before pulling her head back out of the door. Erin decided to wait until the other girl left before she started her 'investigation'.

Professor Carter stood up and extended his hand across the desk to the girl, already predicting that she would do well in his class. But then again, wasn't predicting more for the Divination professor? For all Carter knew, this kid could turn out to be a slacker. "Well then, Miss Granger, I hope you do choose to attend my classes. Invite your friends!" he said with a chuckle, sitting back down in his large chair. "The more the merrier!"

Movement by the door caught Kyle's eye and he held up a hand to the girl as her head began to disappear from the room. "No, you may come in! Don't be shy! Feel free to take a seat - Merlin knows there are enough in here." He gazed around at all the chairs then grinned at the two girls present. His first term was already beginning to go well! Now all he could do was wait for that one troublemaker that would come into his office or classroom and try to cause chaos. It had to happen. And when it did, Carter would be ready to retaliate. He already felt bad for any student who intended on making his life miserable.

Erin heard the professor from outside the door. She stuck her head back in. Erin looked from Carter to the girl and then back to Carter. "I think I'll just wait outside. I'd rather talk... privately," she explained. Erin tried not to make her voice sound suspicious, but she was pretty sure she'd failed at that.

Erin's brown hair then disappeared from view again as she poked her head back out of the office.

Alone again, Erin took a seat on the floor. Surprisingly, no one else was around the halls. Thinking about it, Erin realized that it really wasn't that surprising. Most of the students were probably outside, enjoying the good weather before it was gone.

After a couple minutes, Erin decided not to waste this time doing nothing. She dug into the pocket of her robes; her hand emerged from it a few minutes later, holding a spare bit of parchment. On it, the Gryffindor had written down a few questions that she planned to ask the Muggle Studies professor. She looked them over quietly, every now and them grabbing a pen out of her pocket to jot down something else.

Hermione looked at the Professor. "Oh thank you sir, I definately plan on joining your class!! I will go talk to the headmistress..." And with that she walked out of the room and smiled confidently and looked at the girl sitting on the floor. "You can go in now..." Then she went back to the common room.

Erin looked up from her paper when she heard footsteps coming nearer. As the other girl walked out of the professor's office, Erin slipped her notes back into her pocket and jumped to her feet. "Thank you, young Gryffindor!" she said in what she thought was a noble-sounding voice, after she noticed the red and gold on the girl's uniform.

Now, it was time to go in; Erin couldn't deny that she was a bit nervous about what she would find out. This man could either be extremely pleasing... or very, very disappointing. And there was only one way the 7th Year Gryffindor could find out.

Erin stepped boldly into the man's office, her face showing little emotion.

"Hello sir," she said quietly, remaining standing by the door. Erin slid her hand into her pocket, where she clutched her paper that listed the questions she intended to ask. Erin quietly cleared her throat. "My name is Erin," she said, her voice now at its normal volume. "Erin Austin." The tall girl stepped forward and extended her hand.

Eva knock on the door. AS she wanted to introduce herself and she also had one or two questions she was hopping that Professor Carter could answer. With her Herbology book on her hands, she sat on the floor and read, waiting for Professor Carter.

"Goodbye, Miss Granger!" he called as the young girl left, then smiled at the new Gryffindor. "Why hello there, Miss Austin." He returned the hand shake. "You can call me Professor Carter. You may take a seat, if you would like." This student seemed up to no good, but he had to give her a chance first. It was bad of him to judge.

As he heard a knock on the door, Kyle seemed amused, secretly beginning to hope his office would always be this busy. "I'll be with you in a minute," he told whoever was outside, then turned back to Erin. "So. What may I do for you? Would you like an autograph?" he joked.

"Professor. I'm Eva Longwood. I'm not disturbing am I? I would like to make a question about the classes." Eva said. She liked the teacher at the first sigh, not all the teachers were able to joke with their students and make the classes interestings, as she hope it was.

"Well then... Professor Carter," Erin said, clearing her throat as she took a seat in a chair in front o his desk. "I hope I find you well," she said, a questioning tone to her voice.

"An autograph?" Erin asked, disbelieving. Had he really just asked that? Erin obviously missed that he was making a joke. She had the tendecy to do that. "I think I'll pass for now," Erin said, before quickly changing her mind. She decided that an autograph might be good... evidence... as if there was anything she needed evidence for. Gosh, this girl was a nut. "Or actually, yes," Erin said, smiling slightly. "An autograph sounds nice." She said it as if he'd just offered her a cup of coffee.

"So... tell me a bit about yourself," Erin said casually. She tapped her fingers obnoxiously on the edge of his desk. Of course, Erin didn't realize that she was being annoying. She never did.

Hermione then remembered that she had forgotten to ask the Professor something. She ran back to his office and once there she walked calmly back to his office. She walked up the small flight of stairs and knocked on the door awaiting on a response.

Willow entered the professor's office. She had been looking forward to take muggle studies as she found Muggles very intersting, plus, she knew nothing about, so she said, "um , excuse professor, I was wondering If I could be part of the Muggle Studies course" she asked politely

Carter sat up straighter in his chair as the girl walked right in, even if he told her to wait a moment. "Hello Eva! Of course you're not disturbing anything. Ask away!" He gave the student a warm smile then turned back to the Gryffindor who seemed very suspicious.

He chuckled lightly. "I wasn't being serious, but... all right." Kyle reached to his right, opened the desk drawer, and pulled out a small piece of paper. He rested it on the desk in front of him, picked up his favorite blue pen, and sloppily wrote, Professor Kyle Carter. Quite cheerfully, he handed the autographed paper to Erin. "Uh, well... what would you like to know about me? I'm afraid that if you just tell me to talk about myself that I might not be able to stop. I've had a long life, you know!"

Gee, Kyle thought to himself as another knock on the door disrupted his conversation with a student, do all of the professors have this many students coming to see them all the time? "Come in!" he called.

Hermione opened the door a bit embaressed and she looked inside. "Im sorry Professor, I just had a quick question....when does the class start?"

More and more students kept filing into the office. Erin gave each one of them nasty looks, despite the fact that she really had nothing against them. How was she supposed to seriously interview this man if no one would leave him alone?!

Narrowing his eyes just a bit, Carter scrutinized the girl. She sure was curious - not that he minded any. Of course it made him feel a bit important. "Well, I'll just give some brief points," he began hesitantly.

"From the time when I was about four years old, I grew up with my next door neighbor and best friend, Emily. She's my age. Emily even ended up coming to Hogwarts with me, even though at the time we had no idea we were magical. I was a Ravenclaw at school. But she turned out to be a Hufflepuff. That's beside the point, though. We still hung out every free moment we could. She and I met Angela Kohan there... who is the new school librarian," he stated with a wide grin, gesturing to the picture of a teenage trio on the wall. Oh how he had missed seeing her.

"I was Ravenclaw's Keeper on the Quidditch team. Then after Hogwarts, I married Emily." Kyle turned and looked at the picture hanging on the wall next to the one of the trio. It was of himself and Emily at their wedding. "So... yes," he cleared his throat and turned back to Erin, trying not to think about how much he missed his wife. "That is your Muggle Studies professor in a nutshell. Is there anything else I could help you with, my dear?"

Erin listened intently to the professor's story, nodding occassionally. Once he was finished, Erin sat for a moment, not saying anything. She was thinking.

Emily. Angela. Ravenclaw. Keeper. Wedding. Muggle Studies. Nutshell.

"Ooookay," Erin said finally. "That's... quite interesting, sir." She smiled a bit.

"Do you have any kiddos?" the Gryffindor asked on a whim. The thought had come to her very suddenly; Mr. Carter seemed like the kind of person who would be a decent father. Erin wanted to know, so rather than thinking about it, she just asked. Before he had time to answer, Erin decided that she probably already knew the answer to the question. He didn't have any pictures of his possible kids around the office, and he didn't mention any in his story. Slightly obvious, she realized.

His footsteps soft and weary from walking down all the stairs from the Gryffindor Common Room, William Thornton had decided--against his mother's 'better judgement', to 'check out' Muggle Studies. He was, after all, a Pureblood... With no sense of Muggle... Things... And, well. He thought Tele-screen-o-visions were some sort of telepathic communication booster, and a mobile was a sort of... Vehicle, that Muggles sat on and told what to do with a circular thing called a Screel.

So, as Will neared the door to the Muggle Studies Professor's Office, he began to get second thoughts. What put William off most was knocking on the door itself... As he didn't know what the situation was behind it--Or the teacher, either, he was a little nervous.

Nevertheless, Will raised a hand--or rather, beant slightly (he was rather tall, nearing 6ft and still growing) and knocked thrice on the centre of the door, near the door knob; to... 'Create' a nice, 'echo'. Then, he stood patiently and waited for a possible answer.
