Emily entered the potions room nervously glancing around. “No-one here” she thought.. “must be early”. She looked across at Professor Dresden and smiled shyly, not wanting to draw too much attention to herself. Emily was very anxious as this was her first class so she took a seat at the back of the classroom where she would be able to hide - being the only student in the room was not helping her nerves..

She squinted at the ingredients for the Shrinking Solution on the blackboard at the front of the classroom and decided to make a start. She added the water to her cauldron, hoping that another student would join her soon. She swallowed nervously as she went about chopping the daisy roots, waiting for the water in the cauldron to boil.

Katelyn peeked her head in the door, and smiled when she saw Emily. She was the only one in there...that must be a wee bit weird. She made her way over to Ems, and plopped down next to her. She didnt really like talking in classes...but...this was sorta like group working, wasnt it?
"Hey...you started already?" she asked Emily quietly, dropping her bag to the ground. She glanced up at the professor, and than back at Emily.

Wyn made her way into the classroom. She couldn't wait to get started. Only two girls here so far, good! She looked over the blackboard, reading it's instructions.

Now who is she going to find to be part of her team?

She decided to take a seat and wait for more students to show up.

Saylie entered the Potions lab and stopped just inside the door, looking around in a slightly lost manner. Spying the instructions on the board, she walked forward until she could read them, then looked around the room again. She found an empty cauldron next to Wyn and put the 14L of water into it to begin boiling. She headed over to the wall and gathered the other required ingredients, gathering some extra and bringing them over to Wyn. Smiling, she handed half to Wyn, "Here you go, I noticed you didn't have this yet, so I picked up some for you."

Kaika seem a little bit sleepy, but still had the excitement of starting classes in her eyes..She was sitting next to her cauldron waiting for the water to boil..

Kaika started to think "I think I came really early to class" wondering if it was the class she had to be in since she almost got herself lost the day before..

Amanda walkedquietly into the classroom taking in everything around her. Noticing that the assignment was a group project and that someone was sitting by themselves, she sat down beside a friendly looking student. "Do you mind if i'm in your group?"

OOC: This is NOT a class, it will be running all term long.

IC: Adam smiled as a few students entered the lab. He got up and walked around, smiling as a couple got ingredients while others formed themselves into a group.

"Remember, I'm here to answer any questions you may have" he said before stopping to rest by the door.

"Oh, interesting," Excelsior thought to himself, walking around and noticing the cauldrons and ingredients in this room, along with the potions lists. He decided that he wanted to stay and practice working on the potions, it never hurt to get as much practice as possible!

Tabitha entered the dimly lit classroom. She had been waiting for ages to begin her studies in potion making. Her father was a healer at St. Mungos, and always told her of new potions being created. Tabitha always dreamed of maiking her own and was excitited to finally get the chance. She put her bag down at a table near the front of the room. The professor had written instructions on how to make a Shrinking Solution. "This is so cool," Tabitha said to no one in particular and reached into her bag to pull out a quill. She scanned the list on the board and began to write down the ingredients needed on a spare sheet of parchment.

Tabitha then began to heat the 14L of water over her cauldron. She watched as tiny bubbles formed and smoke began to rise from her station. She then chopped 9 Daisy Roots and added them to cauldron. Bitting her bottom lip, Tabitha stirred the roots 15 times anticlockwise. Adding a pinch of salt and a skinned shrivelfig over her left shoulder she stirred anticlockwise. She then sliced a caterpillar and a rat spleen. Although normally quite squeemish, Tabitha was determined to make the potion correctly. She crinckled her nose and dropped them into the potion, stirring quickly 14 times countrerclockwise. After a last dash of of leech juice, Tabitha took the potion off heat and waited to see if she had done well.

Kaika agreed with the new girl who entered and thought to herself "Yes, It's really awesome, I cant believe I'm actually making a potion!"

After performing the final step of the potion, Kaika waited and got quite annoyed because the potion just stood still, she started to think if she should ask the teacher wether or not she had done well.."Oh, c'mon what's the worse thing that could happen" she thought..

"E-Excuse me professor?" she said.."Its the potion supposed to change colors or something? Because mine still hasn't..", her face turned a little red, she used to get nervous while asking a teacher something..

Saylie walked back to her cauldron after giving Wyn the other ingredients. Noticing that the water in her cauldron was almost boiling, she began chopping the Daisy Roots, counting silently as each was added to the pile on the right. Soon, she had them all finished and was just waiting for the water to reach a full boil.

Ariana walked into the Potions Lab ready to get some much needed practise in. She put her bag down beside her cauldron and looked up at the blackboard, seeing the potions she could make. Hmm, a Shrinking potion eh, I can handle this she thought as she got up and went to the cupboard, getting the necessary ingredients.

Hefting the supplies onto her table she sat down, taking out her dragonhide gloves and other utensils needed for the potion. She definitly didn't want ny of the solution to get onto her hands. Writing down the plan of events in her notebook she began by adding the 14L of water into her cauldron, getting the temperature up with her wand. As the water boiled she took her knife and began to evenly chop the Daisy Roots, being very slow and tedious.

With her Roots cut properly, or so she hoped, she added them slowly, taking her spoon and stirring 15 times anitclockwise. "Thirteen, fourteen fifteen." she whispered to herself, counting as she stirred. When she stopped stirring the potion looked alright, though she couldn't be sure since she had never made a proper shrinking potion before.

"Okay, what next?" she asked herself looking into her notebook for the next set of instructions. "A sprinkle or two of salt." she said, taking out her own collection of salt and sprinkling a few pinches into it, praying it would be enough. "Skin a shrivelfig and toss it over my left shoulder into the solution, okay let's try." she whispered, looking down at her bubbling solution.

Taking the shrivelfig she took her knife, after cleaning it throughly with her cloth and set to work, being careful not to destroy it. After ten minutes of careful skinning she turned around, looking over her shoulder to make sure she was in the right direction and closed her eyes, saying a quick prayer before tossing the shrivelfig over her shoulder, hearing the plop as it hit the solution. Great, that wasn't so bad. she thought as she turned around and stirred four times anticlockwise.

Pikcking up the caterpillar she sliced it up, trying not to feel too badly for the poor cratures she was using. Setting it down, she cleaned her knife again and picked up the rat, cringing as she sliced it up as well. Once both were sliced up nicely she dropped them in and stirred anitclockwise, and quickly as the solution began to buble loudly. "Ten, eleven, twelve, thirteen, fourteen" she said stirring ad putting the spoon down, getting ready to finish up. Finally sighing, she picked up the leech juice and added a dash, turning the heat off and moving her cauldron off to the side to set.

She cleaned her area up, making sure all the unused ingredients were put away or put in the garbage than sat down, writing in her notebook her observations as the potion sat beside her.

Pauline walked into the Labatory and smiled. She was going to get all the points she could this term, even if she had to starve and not sleep for days on end.

She went toward one of the spick and spam lab areas and looked around for the nearest partner, since after all it said work as a team.

She didn't know who to choose, so the first person that came up to her would have to do.

When wandered through the door, absently glancing and the board. She had a backpack slung over her shoulder. You can never be too ready for Kemma to run in and tell you it was kitty searching time.

Meanwhile, she could quite happilly hang out down here. True, she'd be harder to find down here. But it was nice. And cool. And almost pleasant. She sat down, relatively aware of the fact that she'd dumped herself right beside Polly. Polly, apparently, didn't like her. Humph. That was Polly's problem.

Whende let her backpack clunk to the ground. She read over the board. Her gaze lingered on the note at the bottom. Crap. She'd probably blow something up.

Pauline was looking at the other side of the room hoping someone she would see someone she knew with an empty spot next to them and they could do the labs together.

Unfortunetly she didn't see anyone, but she did hear something heavy drop next to her. What they were carrying sounded like bricks. She swiveled around to see none other then Whende. Oh boy.

She sighed and figured this would be interesting. She held out her hand. "Hello and let me introduce myself, I'm Pauline and guess what were lab partners!" she said with the most sarcastic voice ever. Grrr.

Registration finally dawned on When's face after she stared at Polly, and then blinked several times. "Right," she said. Better do this right. She held out her hand and shook Pauline's the way a normal person would. "I'm Whende, and I guess you're right."

She kicked her backpack under the desk, ignoring the fact that the book inside smacked against her foot. When turned her attention back to the board and wrinkled up her nose. "What's a... shrivelfig?" The word slid off her tongue like a grotesque word. Like puce. What a disgusting color.

Pauline smiled curtiously and shook Whende's hand. So far so good. She looked at the directions on the board and then heard Whende ask a question. "Hmmm.." she replied back not really hearing what she had said as she was focusing on what to do.

She jumped off her chair and took the measuring cup and started to pour 14 liters of water into the Cauldron. 1....2...3...4..5..6,7,8,9..10...11...12..13 and 14. She finally finished and then with a flick of her wand lit the flame under the cauldron so the water could boil.

She then turned to Whende and asked, "Want to chop the diasy roots while the water is boiling?"

She watched Pauline. Polly was good at this. Some people were born to measure water and do all that other potion stuff, apparently. When nodded slowly, her mouth hanging slightly open. On top of the whole: Some people have potion brains, Polly actually trusted her with a knife.

She carefully counted out 9 roots and took the knife. She bit her lip as she began to chop them, after all, she didn't want to singe anyone's eyebrows off. Her gaze flickered to the board every few seconds, just to make sure she'd gotten the instructions right; though there's a limit to how many times you can misread one line, she wasn't taking any chances.

Pauline watched Whende carefully cut the 9 daisy roots. Maybe she wouldn't be as bad as a partner as she had orginally thought, but then again she didn't want to take any chances.

She waited patiently for her to finishing chopping and took the salt to have ready after she stirred. "When your done stirring I'll add the salt I guess," she said trying to make conversation.

Ermagardle walked into the lab, a look of pure curiosity on her face. She gazed around the room, taking in the surroundings. Emma read the board and a smile lit up her pale face. But then she realized that she would need a partner. The third year frowned. Who would she partner with? She shifted her weight from foot to foot by the door way, looking nervous. Everyone seemed occupied, Emma noted as she looked around, scowling slightly when she saw Whende.

"You know," Whende said, falling into swing with the whole chopping thing. Anyone could chop up a root. It was like slicing celery. Or carrots. "You are a brilliant potions genius." Or perhaps not so easy as chopping celery. Perhaps it would have been a thousand times more intelligent to watch what she was doing. Perhaps if she'd payed attention, the knife would have landed in the correct spot. Perhaps she should never, ever let RG distract her. It was a danger to her own health.

"Cheese and Crackers!" Whende screamed. The knife clattered to the ground next to her backpack. "I'm bleeeeeeding! My finger is bleeding! I. Am. Going. To. DIE! You hear me? Die!" She hyperventilated for several seconds, waving her bleeding index finger in the air. "Oh man. Oh man."

Pauline watched her still waiting for Whende to finish chopping the roots. Now she wasn't really good at this but yet Whende seemed even worse at it then her. "Thanks but I'm not." she replied to the compliment and turned her back to look at the next intructions.

Why she turned her back on Whende, she had no idea, but it was the worst mistake ever. Several seconds after looking at the board she heard something about cheese and crakers and then Whende shouting "I'm bleedinggg!!"

She swiftly turned back around and saw Whende had cut her finger. Problems could not be happening already. She tried to calm Whende down. "Whende Whende, it's just a nip. Hold still and I can clean it up with some soap and water." she replied looking around nervously. This would be a good time for the Proffesor to come check to see how they were doing.

Emma just about jumped a foot in the air when Whende began screaming bloody murder. The 'Claw figured she should do something before Whende went and had a heart attack. Groaning inwardly, Emma approached the Gryffindor and cleared her throat nervously. That finger had once held on to Patrick's. Emma willed that particular thought away and then said, "Whende, you're not going to die." Sighing, she pulled out a tissue from her pocket and wrapped it around the bleeding appendage.

Cicilia walked into the room and decided to try the potion Shrinking solution.She grabbed all she needed and got to work.She started boiling 14L of water and then added the chopped Daisy Roots.Cicilia stirred the potion 15 times counter clockwise.Cil grabbed the salt and spinkled a little bit in.She skined the shrivelfig and through it in over her left shoulder.then stirred 4 times counterclockwise,sliced a caterpillar and rat spleen and dropped them into the potion and stirred quickly.Finally Cicilia added a dash of leach juice and took the potion off the heat.Cicilia took a flower out of her pocket and dipped it in the potion and saw it shrinked.She made the potion perfectly.
