AJ listened to Adam and fetched the proper amount of wormwood and throwing it into her mortar. This was always her favorite step to potions, and she ground the pestle round and round, up and down, on top of the wormwood to crush it sufficiently. As soon as she was happy with the way it was looking, she crushed it a few more times before turning to her cauldron.

And, it was empty, which would do no good, for boiling. She took out her wand, "Aguamenti," she said and stood there for a few moments with her wand pouring water out the tip. After it was filled with the proper amount of water, AJ stashed her wand inside her robes once again, smiling her usual, crooked, smile as she did. With a flick of her wand, the flame started, and she stowed her wand once more.

After several long, grueling, boring, minutes of staring into the water, she noticed that it was starting to boil, so she scraped out her mortar into the water to let the wormwood boil and concentrate, to become that 'infusion of wormwood,' that the book said.

Bucky snickered into the back of her hands and shook her head slowly at Tag. She leaned in, one single index finger stopping their noses from touching as it stood in between, proving to be a man-made barrier of sorts. "I have no idea. None. As long as he doesn't ask us any questions we should be safe." Then she just had to ask. "I wonder if you fit in this cauldron."

Jaimine took her wand from her sleeve and pointed it to her cauldron "Aguamenti." she watched as enough water filled the cauldron then her pointed to the bottom "Incendio." a small flame started then grew so it cover the bottom of the cauldron. Jaimine waited patiently for the water to boil and got her ingredients ready.

Emily grinned at Rapunzel and then added her crushed wormwood to the boiling water in her cauldron. "I woner how long this has to simmer..." she said alloud, o no one in particular. She was not one to be patient so she pulled her book towards her and flipped through it to occupy herself so that she didn't try to go on before the mixture was ready.

When Mystie's water started to boil she added the crushed wormwood to it, and carefully watched it steep.

Taika Ai waited for the next instructions looking around the room as she did. Most people's cauldrons were bubbling, although a few were having trouble lighting the fires.

She sighed and looked down at the pages in her book, beginning to read what she could and underlining the words and letters she did not understand.

Ryan watch for a second the professor throw a book at Tag which was rather funny since he wasn't paying much attention on what was going on. Not wanting to do nothing, he lit the fire beneath his cauldron. Making sure that the cauldron was in a secured position he wouldn't fall, he started to crushed some wormwood, slowly but carefully since he had to waited for the water to boiled. Finishing before the water was hot enough, he waited a little until the right time.

After at time that he thought was fairly long, he noticed that the water was starting to boiled, he gently put the crushed wormwood into the cauldron making sure he sturred it the right way.

Jaimine pointed her wand at the fire "Engorgio." the flame got bigger and small bubbles appeared at the bottom of the cauldon the the water started to boil. She quickly added the crushed wormwood to the water.

"Excuse me, I don't recall saying that you could do that" Adam said, walking over to the Ravenclaw. " You are to make the potion with the rest of the class as I give you the instructions, not race ahead with the book. Now you can wait for the rest of the class to get to that point ."

OOC: I'm going to leave the class open, but I have to go now, and class will continue tomorrow afternoon. PLEASE do not go any further in the potion than creating an infusion of wormwood (a concentrated solution).

Chatting is okay, but it MUST be related to the class.

Qaz turned started to cry...she felt so stupid...why couldn't she do anything right...

Mystie raised her hand, Exuse me professor how concentrated should my solution be?

Jaimine watched the Ravenclaw and sniggered when Professor Dresden had practically shouted at her for going too far ahead in class.

Ponessa rubbed her wrist a bit and waited for the next instructions. She'd made this potion only once before, but stayed scilent and perched herself upright again.

She realized the girl was crying and stopped laughing immediately "Jeeze."

Tag eyed the black pot. "If you shrank me, I would," he suggested. Everyone else seemed to be scurrying about. . . what was that they were pounding up? AJ looked like she knew what she was doing. AJ always was a suck-up. "I think they're crushing billywigs," he said. "Here. . . I've got some, you get a pestle." Tag wrinkled his nose. Billywigs were not his favorite. They smelled funny. But, Potions called for the nastiest things. . .if it wasn't this, it was Doxy droppings, and those were no picnic.

Taika Ai watched the girl sitting not too far away from her tear up. It seemed a bit unnecessary, but she still felt bad for the poor thing. She seemed sort of young.

So as not to be heard by the Professor, she leaned forward, scooting her cauldron over just a bit. "Are you alright?" she asked her.

AJ looked into her cauldron, with a smirk on her face, and fought not to laugh. Adam hadn't even spoken rudely or yelled or anything, which some teachers very well could have, and this child was already crying. She found that extremely amusing, and closed her eyes tight and reopened them, trying to keep her amusement from showing. She let out a snortish giggle before composing herself again. She took in a deep breath and let out another snort before finally stopping herself from laughing at the crying girl. Afterall she was only 11, and she remembered how weak and emotional she had been at that age, but still, Adam hadn't even yelled or sounded angry...

She shrugged and looked into her cauldron, it was getting thicker, but it could wait a bit longer before she did anything with it. She remembered, they had made this before and it did have to look thicker than this. Only the last time they got to make it, no one got to try if first.

'I quess, thanks for asking.' Qaz replied. 'Maybe dad was right and I should have stuck to my Muggle life. Eleven isn't so bad there, but it's awful here. Everybody know so much, I'll never make it through this....' With that she put her head down on her desk....wishing she could hide under it.

Celestina didn't think that having a Mini-Tag was a bad idea at all. She could carry him in her pocket. And prod him for amusement. But then she'd forget he was in her pocket and sit on him. Or worse, her Pa would find him over the summer and squash him!

Yelping as her imagination got the best of her she smiled at Tag sheepishly. "Right. Pestle." Getting up to get one she waved it in front of Tag's face peeking behind him at the weeping Ravenclaw. "Your kind are very sentimental."

How come Tag wasn't sentimental? Must be all the synthetic cheese making his Ravenclaw wires malfunction.

Taika Ai was not used to this sort of thing; she felt distinctly uncomfortable with a crying child sitting before her. What was she supposed to do? True she had volunteered, but she wasn't used to this sort of thing.

She reached out an awkward hand and patted the girl's shoulder. "It's....er... okay. Don't worry. I'm new, too. I just transfered from...Japan and I'm starting in first year, mind I am older," she said. She really wasn't sure what would make this girl feel better. "Here, uh, look at me, it'll be fine. You'll get used to it, really."

Qaz tried to smile...she knew the girl was trying to help. 'I'll be okay...I'll just take a little nap while everybody else catches up.'

Ponessa flipped throught the notes in the journal and sat back in her seat, shrinking back into the shadow. She loved the dark..and the cold...and the quiet...but was still paying attention.

Taika Ai nodded and returned to her seat; the girl obviously wanted to be left alone and since she was not exactly adept at comforting, she was more than happy to oblidge.

Carolyn did as the professor said. She was nervous, Potions was always her hardest subject. So far, so good. She raised her hand. "Professor, this is a rather serious potion, it's not some other potions where the affects are so, so...I guess the word may be unharmful or less lethal. So, I know that some potions may harm the person making the potion by way of fumes, burns, or something to that affect, does this potion have that? I mean, this isn't a potion to be taken lightly, are we--the brewers--at any risk? Also, I know that it isn't terrible lethal, unless a drinker tries to drink a cauldron full, however, even with a slight amount of potion, is there a possibility the drinker might have any, any medical problems afterwards? I know that some potions can carry problems, but usually that's after constant use. I don't know if I'm making any sense, but I usually like to know these things and the textbook isn't specific enough about it."

Jaimine sat and slumped into the palm of her hand waiting for more instructions.
