| | Library Book Club *Madame Rowena bustles over to a deserted section of the library and smiles at the assembled students who are standing by the fireplace. She pulls out her wand and soon numerous puffy arm chairs are arranged in a circle. She sits down setting down her load of books next to her chair and the students do the same*
"I am happy to see that so many of you have returned to the book club. I'm sure all you know the guidelines but here they are again for a refresher:
1. New members do not need to ask whether they can join or not. Just sit down and give us a review or recommendation of your favorite book that all of us should read. Providing pictures of the covers or your own personal experiences that you have had with the book is a great addition to add to you review.
2. We will all take turns around the circle and give recommended readings for the week and we'll just compile a continuous list of all the books mentioned here by the quick-quill I have set up.
Well, those are the things I wanted to cover. Now, is there anyone who would like to go first in the circle? This is strictly on a voluntary basis and if you do not feel comfortable speaking, no worries, because there is bound to be someone who does."
*Madame Rowena scans the circle and sees a hand up into the air*
"How about you? It looks like you are eager to start out session." she states cheerfully.
*The circle draws their attention to the student who has raised their hand* |

| I'm Kyia and I just finished reading Ghost Wolf, by Rachel Roberts. It is the third book in the Avalon: Quest for Magic sequence. All the books in the sequence have great plots and continue the stories of the characters established by Rachel Roberts in the Avalon: Web of Magic seqeunce. Ghost Wolf centers on the charcter of Adriane, a young mage who lives in Pennsylvania along with her friends Kara and Emily. Adriane is a warrior mage and Ghost Wolf focuses on her journey to save her friends from impending evil and to become a level two mage. Adriane's long lost friend- Stormbringer returns as a member of the mistwolf spirit pack and the charcter of Dreamer plays a vital role in aiding Adriane on her quest for magic. Also the charcter of Zachariah returns and we continue to see a developing relationship between him and Adriane. Adriane and friends manage to save their world from evil forces once again and Adriane becomes a level two mage by the end of Ghost Wolf. I highly recommend this novel and the entire series which focuses on friendship strengthening magic. :sorcerer:

Hi. I'm Anelreas and I'm currently reading Doctor Illuminatus by Martin Booth. It's about alchemy. I've got about thirty pages left, but so far it's a most excellent book. Since I'm not too good about summaries, I'll just type up what it says on the inside of the book.
"Real Magic is Dangerous Magic...
in this modern-day battle against the dark side of ancient alchemy ...
When siblings Pip and Tim move with their parents to an old English country estate and hear a strange knocking from within the walls of the ancient home, they can hardly believe their eyes. A mysterious boy named Sebastian, the son of a medieval alchemist, emerges and claims that he has been asleep for nearly six hundred years.
Sebastian reveals that they are in danger: His father's bitter enemy, de Loudeac, has also awakened from a centuries-long slumber and is determind to use the secrets of alchemy to evil ends. Soon, Pip and Tim find themselves entandled in a web of intrigue, sorcery, and horror as they join Sebastian in his quest to foil de Loudeac's villainous scheme. But can the madmae be stopped?
Enhanced by chants, herbs, and potions drawn from real texts, here is a tale of high action and history, science and magic, certain to cast an irrestible spell."
It's a bloody good book and you get sucked into the history of the story and it's hard to get out. And, for those who want a bit of horror to their books, this book definitely has it. When de Loudeac needs items from someone for a spell, he goes after them and takes it. One way or another.

Hogwarts RPG Name: Rowena Graduated | It is wonderful to see so many fresh-faces. Some books I would suggest are: Dubliners, by James Joyce. An amazing collection of short stories of citizens of Dublin. One of my very favorites as the stories progresses as each of the stories shows a character in a different phase of their life. A Wrinkle in Time-which is one of my favorite science fiction novels. L'Engle has created endearing characters and there are many more stories that follow this one. A exciting tale of time distortions and other worlds as Meg is in search of her father. Ella Enchanted-by Gail Carson Levine. The very popular movie, but an even better book! A twist on the classic Cinderella tale but the difference being is that this Cinderella is fiery and determined making her the ultimate cinderella heroine. |

I love A Wrinkle in Time and have read some of the other books written by Madeline L'Engle. They are really fascinating books.

I have to reccomend my absolute favorite book of all time: The Deed of Paksenarrion, by Elizabeth Moon.
(It is actually three books of a series that were published in one volume.)
It follows the life of Paksenarrion Dorthansdotter. From her near wedding to a man she does not love to her adventures and loses as a member of a mercenary company and training to be a Paladin to her struggles to find what honor and faith mean to her.
It is a world of high fantasy that is not to be missed. You will laugh, cry and cheer as you genuinely come to love and respect Paks and all of her friends, be they dwarf, elf or human.
5/5- My highest reccomendation.

'The Golden Compass', I must really check that one out. It sounds wonderful.
My name is Jen, and I have a book to recommend. The book is called 'Out of the Ordinary' by Annie Dalton. It is about a girl named Molly, who believes she is nothing but ordinary. Her advertisement for a summer job turns into something of another world. Turning her world far from ordinary.

Hogwarts RPG Name: Jesse Salonen Seventh Year | I'm Roma! My favorite book has to be The Da Vinci Code by Dan Brown. It was an amazing book with true facts. I was astounded by all the things I learned from that book! But the book that comes before it in the series is amazing also. It's Angels & Demons. Also an outstanding book with facts I never knew. I recommend both of these books to everyone. They really were amazing books. |

| "I'm Jade and I've just finished reading this book called Fat Chance which was written by Leslea Newman. This book is about a 13 year old girl, Judi, who believes she's fat. She becomes friends with the extremely skinny popular girl, Nancy, who she finds out is belimic. Judi uses this newfound "weapon" of belimia to try a lose weight. Then one day, Judi finds Nancy knocked out in the bathroom, covered in puke. Nancy ends up hospitalized and Judi starts to fear that her weight fighting solution could kill her, but she can't stop. My Personnal Experience Related to This Book- I was unhappy with my weight and was thinking off using puking or "fasting" as the answer, but once I read this book and saw how frightening this could be I stopped thinking about it. I joined more sports clubs and eat less, but not nothing. Why I recommend it- This book gives girls a real insight to the consequences of belimia and anorexia. It shows how much influence the images we see on t.v. or magazines or on advertisments. This book truely shows a teenage girls struggle and it is truely inspirational."

"um...well.. My name is Malkie and i um read like he Red Tent and it was awesome. Its about biblical times in the tents of Jacob, Leah, and Rachel but it also tells of the other women in the red tent. The main focus is on the only daughter of Jacobs wives called Dinah. Her brothers form the twelve tribes of Israel and start Judaism.
I recommend it because I personally enjoyed a different look on ancient Judaism and the women. It was very imformative with a great plot. It gave me new found respect for women i once thought of as "Jacobs Wives"

Hogwarts RPG Name: Jennifer Kaye Wilson | My name is Jen and I'm in the middle of reading Angels & Demons for the second time. It combines historical fact with modern fiction and is very intriguing. While I don't particularly like the plot, there are several statements that the author, Dan Brown, makes that I find very thought-provoking. It provides new insight into age old legends and makes for a fast-paced and enjoyable read.

My name is Lara, and I just finished reading Pirates by Ceila Rees. It is now officially one of my favorite books of all time. It has action, adventure, and even a bit of romance! I fully recommend it to anyone who enjoys being at the edge of their seat. It's a definite page turner. Long story short, Nancy, the daughter of a wealthy merchant, is sent to live on a plantation in Jamacia after her father dies. When she finds out that she is supposed to marry an old and mysterious but very rich Brazilian ex-pirate, she runs away with a slave named Minerva. They become pirates or as they say in the book 'go on the account' and it tells of their adventures. All the while Nancy is waiting for the chance to see the guy she loves who is on the opposite side of the law from her (being in the english Navy). I shan't say any more because it will ruin the plot...but it is definitely worth reading!!
