Rae shook her head, concentrating on the Ravenclaw girl. "Was it laying around, or did someone give it to her?"

She paused, glancing at the Hufflepuff first year. "But what did you hear and see this Slytherin boy do that makes you suspect him? I keep hoping they've just wandered off." She crossed her arms, finally looking at the last girl. "Obviously you need to work very hard to not let your emotions control your ability to change, but there are really no ill feelings against megamorphagi. It's really much more accepted as a magical ability than, say, Parseltongue or lycanthropy."

Ryan smiled - everything seemed brighter.
'Thank you, Headmistress,' she said. 'I'll keep practising to try and control it, and....thank you!'. She smiled at Ray, her fellow Hufflepuff. 'I'll probably see you in the common room, sometime? You can show me how you did that thing with your cat!'. She walked off, feeling so much happier.

Katelyn just stood there, she didnt know what to do. She held the ball in her hand, careful to leave the slobber there. She sat down on a bench nearby, maybe the headmistress would come out. She sighed, and thought about what was going on around here. Something creepy, and Katelyn was definately scared now.

She waited for what seemed like forever, gave up and took off for the hospital wing.

Adam entered the entrance to the Headmistress's Office and stood there, clutching the ribbon and page in his hands. He wondered if the Headmistress was in her office and looked around the crowded room for a glimpse of her.

Whende followed Mister D to the Headmistress's office. Her hands were still burrowed into her pockets. She couldn't remember ever being here. The only time she'd ever needed to, she'd sent Anna to do the dirty work. "So we wait now, right?" she said. When had just about no patience.

"I think so. I can't say i'm familiar with the process of getting into her office" Adam said to Whende.

Rubbing his fingers over the ribbon, he felt a raised section. He looked at it, lifting it up to his face. The end of the ribbon was embroidered with the letters SB.

"Oh," Whende said. She twiddled her thumbs around in the pocket of her hoodie. "Ok then."

She bounced the toe of her shoe against the ground and looked around. "Hey, what's up?" she asked curiously, looking up at him. He had the ribbon right up in his face. Was he going to eat it?

"I'm here," Headmistress Rae returned to the entrance with a fresh cup of tea and a plate of biscuits. She'd tried to have a meal, but she just couldn't eat. "Sorry, professor. What can I do for you? Oh... don't tell me Whende is in trouble." She was rather fond of the girl.

He held up the page of the book and the embroidered ribbon.

When's mouth started to water. She quickly shook her head. Uh-uh. Nope. She's here for BIIIIIISCUITS. Good job. Way to stick to the important stuff. Gosh.

"Yeah. That. What he said," she agreed. Whatever he said worked for her. Maybe she'd get biscuits out of it.... And so far he had managed to stay focused in the presence of baked goods.

She glanced at the page from the book with a slight shrug. It was possible that it had something to do with her children, but it didn't specifically tie to them. She glanced next at the ribbon, and her cup of tea shattered on the floor.

"Fee," she crumpled the ribbon to her face and began to sob. "I want my girls. I want... my babies," Rae collapsed against poor Professor Dresden.

Suddenly, When didn't care about biscuits any more. She forgot they were even there. In fact, she was pretty darn sure that her heart was melting right about then.

She had no idea what to say at all though. Watching her Headmistress break down was horribly unnerving, plus heartbreaking. She was frozen on the spot. When finally forced her arm to move to pat her on top of her head.

Mallory walked to the Gargoyle Entrance, with the cat and the rattle in her arms. She was surprised to see Professor Dresden there and with the Gryffindor girl, named Whende, she saw down by the lake a while ago.

The Headmistress was sobbing and she had to build up the courage to speak up. "Ermm...professors?" she began. "I--I found this cat by the charms classroom, and he had this rattle with him, and I just thought...it might be a clue?"

Shadow looked around at the new surroundings from the arms of the girl. He looked at the crying woman and felt sorry for her. All she needs is a little cat love, Shadow thought and he meowed again. The ice blue eyes peered at everyone, concern in his little eyes and a whisker twitched as well. Usually happened when he wanted to make somebody feel happy. Such a sad atmosphere, he thought.

Adam was not prepared for this. An emotional woman? - Adam's instinctive response would be to flee, to run for the nearest broom cupboard and hide til the coast was clear and the crisis abated.

But this was Headmistress Rae, who was normally so strong. It hit home to Adam how horrible it must be to lose your children. Putting an arm around the Headmistress, he helped her over to the nearest seat.

"We'll find them - they've got to be in the castle" he said reassuringly, patting her shoulder.

To Whende, who was patting the Headmistresses head, he said "Can you clean up that teacup for me please?"

"Yeah," Whende said. She got on her knees and was halfway through picking up the broken china and mopping the tea up with her skirt when she remebered, duh, she was a witch.

Feeling mildly stupid and disshelved, When pulled out her wand and finished up the magic way. Once she was done, though, she stayed on the ground with the hem of her skirt still soaked. It didn't matter.

One look at the rattle renewed Rae's tears, and she took her seat and used her sleeve to mop up her face. "I'm... I'm sorry," she hiccupped. "I should be more collected and able to figure out what needs to happen next, but I... they're so small, you know? So very little and Sophia catches ill quite often." She scrubbed valiantly at her face with her sleeve.

Shadow pounced out of the girls arms and trotted over to the crying lady. He rubbed his head against her leg and looked up at her, for a possible invite to sit on her lap. He was good comfort.

Mallory was surprised and had to step back and maintain her balance as the cat jumped from her arms to the ground. "aahh." she gave a soft sign of shock of the sudden action of the cat.
