Taika Ai looked around the room. She'd lost Hannah somewhere in the sea of people and practising all by herself was becoming redundant.

This bowing thing really didn't make sense to her.

She spotted others looking around as she was and wondered if they were just as bored.

"Hi," Anthony said to a slytherin girl, "Do you want to be my partner?" he asked.

Heather still needed a partner but no one seemed to need one.

"Well, I"m very disappointed in some of the things I saw. Performing spells when I specifically told you not to... that sort of behavior in the future will cost house points. As for the two of you," she pointed at the two latecomers, "that's five points off for each of you. Do not arrive late and disrupt my class again."

Rae gestured for them to resume their seats. "Let's talk for a moment about defensive spells. Defensive spells can be characterized in several different ways. The first catagory of defensive spells would be shielding charms. The most famous of these has already been mentioned... Protego. What can you tell me about Protego?"

Heather raised her hand"This spell creates a magical barrier that will deflect hexes thrown at the caster."she said

Anthony nodded as the girl asked him to bow, but then he noticed the teacher telling them to sit down, mouthing, "sorry," to her, he sat down in his seat...

Audrey raised her hand. "Well, protego is the shielding charm. It actually comes from the latin term of the same name, which means "I protect." Any mild to moderate jinx can be blocked with it, and it's then deflected back to the person who cast it, causing themself the harm that they intended the other person to recieve. If I'm not mistaken, I think that the shield charm can also be used to lessen the effects of more severe curses, even if it can't completely stop it."

Taika Ai resumed her seat, feeling deeply embarressed. This was why she hated being sick.

Taika Ai raised her hand suddenly aware that she knew the answer.

"The Shield Charm, or Protego, casts a temporary invisible shield around the caster that will protect against minor hexes."

Rapunzel raised her hand and responded, "Protego is the shield charm that creates a defensive barrier around the caster and can reflect hexes back to the opponent."

Kerry who had been quiet most of the class, decided to step up and participate a bit more, she raised her hand, "Protego creates a sheild around the caster, protecting them from most harmful spells. Spells exist that can still cause damage to whoever it is cast upon even if The Shield Charm is in use, but the Charm usually saves someone from the worst of the spell cast upon them."

Aniri raises her hand, hoping she's not too late to answer.

"The Shield Charm is cast by saying the word 'Protego', which is basically a spell that will not only protect against the opponent's spell, but will in effect reflect the spell onto the opponent."

"shhh," he said playfully, smiling at the slytherin girl, showing that he did not mind at all. Then he looked forward and said, "Protego is used to bounce back a minor spell at the opponent who cast it at you,"

Aniri thought for a moment. Might as well give it a shot.

"Well, since it doesn't protect against a strong spell, it would probably only reduce its intensity. But it would also have to do with how well the Unforgivable was cast, the caster has to really mean it after all."
