A soothing song is coming from Professor Maline's indoor classroom, and sat on a rather large perch is a Phoenix, Professor Maline's newest pet. The door is open for you to sit down and make yourself comfortable on the bean bags and low desks, and cookies are spread about the classroom.

Professor Maline however, is sat on her desk, on her hands are a pair of gloves, and it's an idea that you wear yours too.

Jen raised her hand again. 'They would probably look very old and have slow reflexes. They may sound very weak and feeble.'

"Like a half-plucked turkey and makes gagging noises. It's beautiful feathers fall out and everything." Eliza said, giggling slightly at the half-plucked turkey comment. She felt evil for saying so but it was what it said in the book. But it was horrible that it's feathers fell out. That would be just gruesome to see. "And they sound very weak and ill. Poor creatures." she frowned. "But then they set fire and crumble to ashes, where a new baby chick is born. It sounds so cute at the end!"

"Cute? No, they're rather ugly, and they take up to five days to become fully grown again. Now, the Phoenix's cycle of birth and death can be disturbed by something, like a fatal injury, and they will also restart from the ashes that way too." Professor Maline explained, summoning her Pheonix with a couple of clicks.

"You may admire, play, touch if you are careful, and fly with Azula for a moment, the best way to learn is hands on. I ask you one thing though, don't scare her. She is not used to being close to so many people at once, be gentle." Ophelia said, placing the bird on a low desk for them to see.

Jen looked around hesitantly then slowly got up. She put her quills and things down on the table then cautiously walked over to Azula. She was such a beautiful phoenix.

Professor Maline tapped the board with her wand, revealing the classes homework as she looked at her Phoenix being admired. "I think the class is over now, you're more than welcome to come back and see Azula in my office when ever you like," She beamed at them all, ponytail bobbing about her neck as she smiled.

Natalie was wondering when they would actually get to see the phoenix. After writing down the assignment, she stood up to go see it, noticing she was the only one. She put her shyness aside for a moment, and walked to the front of the class. She stroked the goegeous phoenix's feathers.

Always one to love flying, Natalie wanted to see what it would be like to fly with a phoenix.

Mystie got up from her bean bag chair and slow calmly walked over to a bean bag chair close to Azula and sat down. 'Hello Azula, I am Mystie, glad to meet you. Your are such a pretty bird. May I please pet you?' she asked Azula. Azula lowered her head so Mystie could pet her.

Lauren read the script now scrawled on the chalkboard in front of the class. She clutched her quill and absentmindedly smoothed her piece of parchment with her left palm. She began to scribble the assignment on the parchment, brainstorming as she wrote. What would she use phoenix tears for? She had never thought them as anything other than remedy or antidote. Lauren loved creative writing, but this would certainly prove to be a challenge. A thought struck her as she concluded writing however, and she raised her hand to ask it.

"Professor - when do you expect this assignment to be due?"

Professor Maline wandered over, and gently made sure that Natalie was wearing gloves, "Ok, place your hands on the tail, gently, yet firmly, and don't let go." Ophelia said seriously. Then whistled lowly for Azula to go into a gentle flight with Natalie holding on.

Any later than that and i won't accept it," Professor Maline said seriously, this term was going to be a little bit more relaxed for her, but she knew that if the class wanted the points, they'd do it and give it to her as soon as they could. Her hand back its resting place on her desk, Lauren felt herself relaxing as Professor Maline answered. "Thank you, Professor," she said gratefully, nodding as if to say she understood. Her eyes returned to the black writing on her piece of parchment, and she ran a finger down the jagged edge of the paper as she began to plan in her mind for the assignment once more. The class had weeks for the assignment and, although Lauren was never one to badly procrastinate finishing her homework, this may or may not be a good thing. She would undoubtedly have loads of homework after her other classes began, so a relaxed deadline would be great. But a creative project such as this would be just the sort of thing Lauren would take forever to, in her opinion, "perfectly" complete. Still, she was happy the due date was not anytime soon. She would just need self-discipline to make herself sit down and start it.

Having already stashed her quill and textbooks in her bag, she rolled the parchment into a sort of scroll and curled her hand around it. With the other hand, she grabbed the strap of her bag and dropped it onto her shoulder, standing up while doing so. She then gave a small smile to Professor Maline as a farewell and followed the flow of students out of the classroom.

Mallory scribbled down the homework on her parchment, then proceeded to pack up. She then waved goodbye to Azula and said. "Bye, Professor...this was a great lesson!" and walked out of the classroom.

Callisto jotted down the homework with her quill in one of her notebooks, making sure to copy it down correctly. Then she gathered her things and exited the classroom.

Daphne jotted down the homework and stood up. She couldn't take her eyes off of the phoenix. She stepped up to the beautiful bird, but didn't dare touch it. Maybe another time, she thought to herself. She pulled herself away and left the class.
