Just hearing Julie say that so fast made Rose lose her breath.

Taylor sat at his desk quietly and waited for the Professors next instruction or question.

Ozzy sat listening silently, his quill scratching the parchment of his Potions notebook. So far he had a good four pages of notes within it for this class. When he had written the last thig said for the time being, he looked around and waited for the next bit of information.

Tina wrote most everything down. Everything she didn't hear, she asked her neighbors. While waiting for the next bits of infomation, she looked over her work and did a mental spell check, and grammar check.

luna twirled her quill between her fingers waiting for the professor to ask the question, she beagn chewing her quill, she spat out a few bits of feathers then paid her full attention to the professor.

Jamie had to admit. He felt a little queasy. He didn't like looking at these unicorn parts. Maybe potions was going to be his worst class. He glanced over at Bucky and gave her a look that clearly read "This is terrible!". Then, he grabbed his stomach as he felt it churn.

Anelreas raised her hand. "A type of strengthening potion, Professor? Vigoratus redimio. While the hair of a unicorn can be used to bind hurt animals or even people to help them heal, if hellebore is spread onto of the hair then covered in a second layer of hair, the end results are possible to both strengthen and heal the person immensely." She paused and chewed lightly on the inside of her lip. "However, if not done properly, limbs can be lost. Only one known attempt was fatal and he hadn't the slightest clue what he was doing."

Bucky glanced sideways at Jamie and rolled her eyes. The boy was going to puke pretty soon. Celestina patted his head and would have handed him a mint but she was all out. Rosemary had apparently gotten to them just before she took her to Professor Dainsie for behavior and dietary reasons.

She scribbled down as much posts as she possibly could and glanced over at Jamie's notes. She shook her head disapprovingly. It seemed she was going to have to lend him her notes after the lesson.

"Very good, very good. Unicorn parts mostly used in potions involving healing or extending life. Unicorn blood alone is strong enough to keep you from dying even if you are on the brink of death even with the inevitable curse which comes from drinking enough of it for that purpose.

"The take home message from this lesson is that the use of unicorn parts in potions is not always evil, though the use of blood is. The potions that can be made from them can be quite useful, especially to healers and aurors. There won't be any homework for this class however, for those of you interested, I will be holding a bonus class after a short break. I will be giving homework from the bonus class which will be posted to the bulletin board, though participation in the bonus class is not compulsary."

Professor Branxton conjured up a pitcher and a glass of water. After taking a quick drink he looked out at the class again. "You are dismissed and I will answer questions if you have any. The bonus class will start after dinner."

ooc: I'll be opening the bonus class in a little while. It depends on how many questions we've got and what the Xander Man is up to. I'm thinking about an hour from this post.

Rose sees a kid grab his stomach and starts to giggle to herself. If he can't handle this, how is he going to be able to do some of the potions we'll make this term? Well I can't laugh too much because when I see a live snake I scream and freak out. -Rose reasoned with herself. She stops giggling and puts on a 'serious' face so quick that she starts laughing and puts her head down on the table to muffle the noise.

Taylor gathered his things and tunred to the professor. "Thanks for the great lesson professor," he said before walking out of the class

Anelreas gathered her books and gathered them under her arm. She'd run back to the common room to drop off the majority of her books, so she wouldn't have a collection of things to catch fire during the bonus class. Even if they didn't use fire or their wands, she was sure it was possible.

Before leaving, however, she walked up to the Professor. "Pardon, Professor, but would it be possible to know a list ofof books that contain potions that use unicorn hair and horns in the library?"

Celestina nodded at Professor Branxton. She hadn't gotten to participate as much as she would like in this lesson but then again she wasn't an expert in Potions. She was, after all, a first year but she did try to read a lot. Bucky put away her notes and prodded Jamie with her quill.

"Come on," she whined and glanced over at Professor Branxton. "They're going to steal him and I won't get to ask him innumerable questions."

Rose gathered her stuff and says to Professor Branxton,"Great Lesson! I'll definatley be here for the bonus class!" She skips out of the classroom and heads to dinner.

Fancy started gathering her things up and piling them into her bag. She was still disappointed that they hadn't gotten to brew anything, but her mind was still reeling from all the information that she had learned about unicorns and their parts. Considering she very much wanted to work in a career someday that involved potions, she felt that the lesson all in all had been far from a waste. She was curious, however, about the bonus class that would be held after dinner. She decided she would ask, as she planned to attend and wanted to know what to expect. She stood up and approached Professor Branxton.

"Professor, what are we going to do in the bonus class?" Fancy asked eagerly.

Jamie nodded and quickly shoved his notes into his bag. He gathered his book under his arm and jumped up with Bucky. "They're going to what?" he whispered back.

Curiosity struck him. Hard.

"I'm sure Madame Rowena will be able to assist you in located such texts," he responded as he gathered the precious unicorn ingredients and locked them in a special trunk.

"We will be brewing something... fun... I don't want everyone's brewing skills to go to pot just because we had a lecture class today," he smiled and took off his glasses to clean them.

Anelreas nodded her head. "Thank you, Professor." She nodded her head in short farewell and left the room, smiling at Bucky when she passed her and Jamie on the way out.

Celestina groaned and threw her arms up dramatically, her school bag hanging over her shoulder. She sighed and pointed at Professor Branxton.

"See?" She pointed out, simultaneously running her other hand through her short auburn hair. "Now he's busy. I need to know just how did he get his hands in unicorn parts. Are you okay? You look a little green."

"Ohhhhh...." Jamie replied hushedly. "Are we investigating? Like... detectives?" a giddy grin washed over his face, pushing away the ill look. "I'm fine, really, I am," he said, slinging his bag over his shoulder. "What's the plan then?"

Celestina nodded at Anelreas and frowned slightly. Something was odd. It smelled like shiftyness to her.

"Come on," she said and grabbed Jamie's hand.

Bucky approached the Professor. She hadn't really participated much in the previous lessons so she was pretty sure the Professor didn't know who she was.

"Marvelous lesson, Professor Branxton," she said with a genuine smile.

Besides being a little squeamish about the unicorn parts it was informative.

"I'm Celestina Warbuck. A first year. But I prefer to be called Bucky or Miss Warbuck if you please."

The girl bowed slightly. Her ways were a little odd but then again there were all sorts of odd at Hogwarts lately.

"I don't mean to take up much of your time but I am a bit curious on how you managed to get your hands on Unicorn parts seeing as it illegal you said? Or perhaps I'm misunderstanding this all?"

Bucky wasn't a suspicious person by nature. Okay, that was a lie but that odd letter about vengeful crups had her on edge. Who knew who was behind it all. Perhaps there was even an army of trained crups just waiting for the command to take down the staff, one by one, followed quickly by the students.

"Yes, Miss Warbuck. I purchased the hair and horn for my personal stores at the apothecary in Diagon Alley as both ingredients, though expensive, are available and completely legal. The hoof chip I was fortunate to have found on a hike while I was younger. I registered the find with the Ministry and have been saving it for studies that I had been doing at my previous place of employment. The blood was given to me by a contact within the Ministry of Magic so that I could show it to you all today. It was confiscated in a raid. Any other questions?" he asked, replacing the glasses he had been cleaning to his nose and pushing them up with his forefinger.

Jamie stood beside Bucky and smiled. "I'm Jamie," he said with a blissful nod. He listened to Bucky talking, suddenly growing curious about this. Illeagal unicorn parts? MAYBE HE WAS A BAD GUY! Ohhhh he had to contain his gasp, and it was all he could do to not bounce from foot to foot.

And then the professor began talking. All kinds of things. The boys's brows furrowed over his eyes. Maybe he was making it up? He desperately hoped he was making it up. It was all so... conviniant.

Celestina nodded. He seemed to check out just fine although what did he mean studies at his previous place of employment? Just where did he used to work at.

"Actually," she said slowly and frowning. "Previous place of employment? You worked somewhere else before Hogwarts? Where? The Ministry I suppose since you did say you had a contact from within."

A-ha! Corruption at the Ministry. Or maybe not. We'll just have to wait and see.

"Oh yes, my apologies, this is Jamie...Er...what's your last name again?"

"Thank you, Professor. I will definitley see you then! I can't wait!" Fancy turned around and eagerly walked toward the door. On her way out, though, she couldn't help but people making assumptions about Professor Branxton and questioning his explanation of how he had obtained the unicorn parts they had just studied. While Fancy didn't know Professor Branxton very well, she couldn't believe that he was a bad person or had done something illegal. Maybe Fancy was too trusting, but she doubted that Professor Branxton - her Head of House - was untrustworthy. Trying to forget what she was hearing, she quickly made her way out the door and up to the Great Hall for a spot of supper.
