Library Study Tables In front of the front desk counter there are long oak tables like the ones in the Great Hall stretching the length of the library. However, these are surrounded by bookcases laden with texts. Some students begin sitting down on the bench and taking out their homework ready to get started on their work. Others obtain large reference texts before settling down in their spots. Others have formed small study groups and begin conversing in a soft whisper about their newest assignment. |
Rachel sat down at a table with her book that she had taken from the shelf. It was called, Faeries and Their Habits. She loved faeries. She read the first few pages of the book, finding it very interesting. She decided to check it out..... |
Kalaya sat down and opened the book, Quidditch Through the Ages, and searched the index for anything about the Snitch..or the Snidget for that matter. A while later.. Aparrently, not having any luck at all Kalaya closed the book and returned it to the shelf. Then she walked out of the Library and into the halls. |
Ginn walked up from teh Great Hall and into the library, silently thanking the stars that it was quiet. She really needed complete quiet if she was ever going to get this homework done. Being sick and missing classes was not a good way to start the term, but she knew she could catch up, if she was just determined enough. She found a comfortable spot at the tables and spread out her books and parchments in front of her, getting straight to work. |
*Elyshia ran in after Ginn* "Ginn,"she whispered,"do you know what I can do to make him become my boyfriend?" OOC: did you read my 'History' |
ooc: yea, I read it...I'll send you a little of my info too.. Ginn laughs as Elyshia comes in after her and shakes her head. "I'm not real sure. Will and I just talk and spend time together. Maybe things will just eventually work out that way for you. Sometimes friendship moves into something more." she tells her, looking back over her books for information on Wartcap Powder. After finishing up that homework, not completely pleased with herself for it, she moved on to her Transfiguration, a pretty easy assignment which was finished in a matter of moments. She looked back at Elyshia and gave her an apologetic smile. "Sorry, I need to get some more rest. I've been sick and trying to get better. I'm going to run these lessons in and then head to the common room to sit in front of the fire." she told her, packing up her books and belongings, heading out the door to drop her assignments with the proper professors and then to her common room. |
Dru strolled into the Library and flung her bag down onto an empty desk. She took a rather bland book out of her bag, sat down and studied it, trying to see if it would show any extra secrets other than what she already knew. Just like it's previous owner, it didn't let off anything. She sighed and put her head in her hands. Hopeless. |
Diana came into the study area to do Professors Dainsie's, Braxton's, Fox's, Virohsa's, and some new Transfiguration teacher whose name she couldn't remember's homework. So far, she's finished Dainsie's work, and moved on to her potions homework. That's 1 down and four more to go, she though to herself. |
Dru looked up from the book just in time to see someone enter the library. She stuffed the book back into her bag and grabbed the nearest book to her, one all about venomus plants and their uses (amongst many other things.) |
Diana took no notice of what was going on as she chewed on a sugar quill while trying to remember what wartcap powder is and what it does. She began shuffling through her potions notes about it. However, in the process of finding her potions notes, the front pocket of her bookbag was open and a small bottle of ink fell out of it and shattered, spilling ink all over the floor. Diana heard the shatter. "Uh-oh." |
Dru rolled her eyes at this girl's clumsiness and watched her attempt to deal with the problem of the spilt ink. "Don't just sit there and say 'uh-oh', do something about it before you're chucked out." She told the Ravenclaw before taking it upon herself to look at the girl's homework. "Wartcap powder is a substance which reacts with skin, causing it to turn into a thick hard crust," Dru informed the girl. "Not too pleasent if it's unexpected, I can tell you." |
Gaby walks into the library looking for a quiet place to do her Herbology home work. She notices such a table near the front desk. Gaby walks over to see a Ravenclaw has spilled a bottle of ink all over the table. The Slytherin student sitting near her is not in the least amused with what's going on. Gaby puts her bag down and takes out a large cloth. "Here this should do the trick." She place the cloth over the ink, and it is immediately cleaned up. "Sometime the old fashioned methods work best. Do you mind if I share this table with you? The Common Room is just too nosy to get any home work done in." |
Diana was already in the process of trying to remember a spell to clear up the mess, when she heard someone talking to her behind her. In response to the girl's bossy-like demand, she shot a glance of annoyance. She then finally remembered the spells. "Scourgify!" The spell vanished the spilt ink on the floor, leaving no trace of the ink. "Evanesco!" She cast another spell, in which cleared up the broken bottle glass. "Thanks," Diana replied as she wrote down the information the girl just gave her. Something in Diana's mind flashed by for a second. She blinked and squinted at the girl. "Hey...Have I seen you somewhere before?" |
Gaby stares at the Ravenclaw for a moment. She didn't think she remembered the girl, but she has seen so many new face since coming to Hogwarts they tend to blur together. "You might have. I can't really say. This is my first term here, so I've been exploring the place. My names Weasley, Gabrielle Weasly." Gaby extends her hand to the Ravenclaw. |
Alex entered the Library quietly and wandered over to the Study Tables. She took a seat in the far right corner and couldn't help but notice that Dru was there as well, along with two other girls she did not recognize. Not paying any attention to them, the girl placed her bag on the table, trying to make as less noise as possible. After a few minutes of looking through it, she finally pulled out a quill and a few pieces of blank parchment along with the Arithmancy homework and the textbook. The only reaction that came from Alex after reading the homework through was blinking repeatedly. This sounded far easier in class, when taught, rather than written down on a piece of parchment. She leaned back in her chair for a few moments and glaced at Dru before returning her attention on the textbook. Sighing, the Slytherin girl opened her book at page 93 and started reading everything over again while stealing quick glances every now and then at the homework parchment. What seemed like hours was really just about 30 minutes. And even though her head was already pounding and she felt like going to sleep right there and then, Alex didn't. Instead, she picked up her quill and started making notes on a scrap piece of parchment. But everytime she tried to figure it out, the ending result wasn't getting her anywhere. The quill was moving faster and faster on the piece of parchement by the second when it stopped abruptly and ink was spilled eveywhere--the quill had snapped in two. Was it out of anger? Tiredness? Frustration? That, she did not know and was too tired to figure out. Groaning silently, Alex cleaned up the mess with a wave of her wand and grabbed a new quill out of the bag. Okay. Concentrate. Just concentrate, it's not that hard. Quote:
--what does that mean?! Nevermind that for now. Looking up at the homework paper once again, Alex jotted down the answer quickly. Mind, it was more the theoretical part that she was having trouble with, not the practical part. And perhaps analayzing those numbers--she could use some practice. Quote:
That wasn't that hard. Mind you, it had taken her some time to rack her brain for the information. Perhaps one more and then she'd be able to either go rest or go ask for help. Quote:
Knowing it would be of no use to actually get started on the other ones now, the girl stuffed everything back in her bag and left wordlessly for Professor Fox's office. |

She sat back down before closing her book and looking at the cover. "No wonder I didn't understand a word of it, I loath Herbology." Dru shoved it over to the end of the table before turning back to Diana. "So, who are you? You look a bit old to be student if you don't mind me saying." |
Christy came storming in. She had a big amount of homework to do and she was quite angry. Her bag was bouncing madly while she made her way to a study table near the window. She pulled her hair up in a pony tail and took out her books, parchments and her quill. She begun with her Magical Creatures homework which was rather easy... |

Des walked into the library and proceeded to look for some texts pertaining to potions and their ingredients. She had just received her first potions assignment and was determined to complete it and get a good mark on it. But, the assignment had proven to be harder for Des than she had originally thought. She sat at one of the study tables with three large library texts and pulled out a quill and some parchment. She opened the index of the first book and began to scan its pages. "Wartcap powder, Wartcap powder" she mumbled. |
Peony sat down at the table, slamming a huge pile of books onto the table, and earning herself a few glares. Pulling the chair so she was practically cut in half by the table's edge, Peony began to read her Potions textbook, reminding herself every so often to concentrate. She really, really meant to do well this year, her last year. A few minutes later, her left hand slapped the pencil out of her right hand. "Ow!' exclaimed Peony. "There was no need for t---" There was no need for that! You were doodling. Peony scowled at the dull, thickly gathered words of her text. Latin terms peeked out like lightning from dark clouds. It was a wonder the pages weren't singed. Quietly, unobtrusively, the pens and erasers were discreetly moved so Peony's right couldn't get at it. You don't have any right to control my body you know! Peony howled mentally, oh yes, if it were up to you, half of me would be snogging random goblins, wouldn't it!? For pure entertainment purposes, I suppose you're right. |

She then looked down at her robes with a slight quizzical expression and then back at the girl. "I'm also pretty sure that I'm not a Prefect, unless somebody has pinned a badge on me without my knowledge. You must be mistaking it for this," she carried on, showing Gabrielle her Slytherin Serpent badge that she used to decorate the front of her robes. |
Iduna Black walked into the library and took a seat at one of the tables. Pulling out her potions book from within her school bag she started on her potions homework. She hated homework but luckily other then Care of Magical Creatures, Potions happened to be her strongest subject. |
Meghan walked over to the library study tables. She set some of her books down and pulled out her DADA homework. It was tricky and she wanted to finish it right away. She didn't want to get behind. Especially in the headmistresses class. She pulled out a quill, some ink, some parchment and got to work. After a few minutes she set her quill down and starting rubbing her temples. She was tired. She looked over the assignment she had copied down again. It must have been the 100th time. After her little "break" she got back to work on part 2. When she finished she was starting to fall asleep. She decided to take her stuff back to the common room and work on it there. That way if she fell asleep she wouldn't get in trouble. |
Michelle came down to the library study tables to see if she could ever start her homework. |

Diana merely shrugged. "Go ahead if you'd like" Quote:

"Ah no. Potions isn't exactly my strongest subject, as with this muggle subject, Chemistry. Jeez, Potions and Chemistry are somewhat similiar, aren't they? Herbology's my second best subject." Diana bit her lip and pouted as she heard Dru talking about her looking to old to be a Hogwarts student. Pfft. I figured this will eventually haunt me. Second time asked in... three days! She made a "This-isn't-your-business,-concern,-or-whatever-it-is,-but-" expression and replied, "Circumstances beyond my control. I'm just a nobody but a student." |
