Default Handbook of Standard Arithmantic Spells and Formulae

The Handbook of Standard Arithmantic Spells and Formulae

This simple, thick book is as handy as it informative. Within this book are concise lists of nearly all important topics covered in Arithmancy. If you've forgotten what you learned terms ago, all a dilligent student need do is open their book and look for the topic. No professional Arithmancer is ever caught without this trusty brown plaid book at their side. Indeed, many even carry it in a specific bag, just so they always know where it is.

OOC Note: This thread will eventually contain everything that has been covered in Arithmancy. Whatever year your character is, everything they should know and can do will be contained here.

Default Greek Arithmancy

The Greek school of arithmancy was developed by the ancient greeks for making predicitions about weather, the coming day, or even battles. Indeed, the outcome of the battle between Achilles and Hector was predicted based on their personal numbers.

With the Wheel as part of your life path, your focus is on creativity, and drawing fortunate circumstances to you. You stay open to synchronicities and unexpected opportunities and are more aware of them when they appear which allows you to take advantage of the fortuitous events. But you make all of this possible by using your Magician skills. You're also more open to change and movement, and your ideas are more expansive. Diversity and flexibility are your friends. And you tend to be constantly cycling through projects; you may change jobs or careers several times during your life. Your moods and emotions also tend to cycle from joy and ecstasy to despair and frustration and back again.

Life Path = 19/10/1
Sun/Wheel/Magician

You have a stunning personality and are drawn to people who are likewise drawn to you. You are a natural generator, motivator, and stimulator both of people and situations. You function equally well on an individual basis or in a group setting. The creativity and communication of the Wheel and Magician really shine through you. You need to change, or at least modify, your relationships, partnerships, and jobs on occasion or with some frequency. Take care to incorporate nature and sunshine into your life, and be sure that other "sun people" are around you rather than finding yourself in draining or depleting situations all the time. You have a tendency to be optimistic and cheerful, and you identify strongly with your work and achievements.

The Magician Constellation includes all four of the communication tools (the four Aces), plus two resources and two challenges. The two resources show up with the creativity of the Magician being enhanced by using the abundant communication and healing gifts, and the wealth and physical/material bounty (10 of Disks) around you; and by trusting what has heart or emotional ties, and what resonates for you (10 of Cups). The two challenges can result in the creativity of the Magician being withheld or obstructed by fear and self-inflicted "injuries" (10 of Swords) and/or by oppression, a tendency to self-doubt or censorship, or lack of organization (10 of Wands).

---------------------------------------------------------

Life Path = 2
High Priestess

The High Priestess strongly values independence and self-resourcefulness, and has a sense of inner spirituality and intuition. This person has a deep regard for balance and harmony and can easily sense what is causing problems. You can offer insights and creative approaches which will bring situations, projects, or people back into balance. You are unique in that you are equally as dynamic as you are receptive; and you can be very tenacious. There is a sense of mystery about you; you have a tendency to be empathic and/or psychic. Listening to your subconscious and working with your dreams is very important. People with the High Priestess as a Life Path function extremely well as negotiators, consultants, or diagnosticians and they are good listeners; they are highly gifted in arenas which draw on their visions, perceptions, and insights. They make choices intuitively, and they recognize that changing circumstances will often result in changes in choices; they rely on and move with an inner rhythm as energy ebbs and flows like the tides responding to the moon. Likewise, being near water is important for you, as are regular periods of solitude. (A 'single 2' has the potential to help humanity connect with the deep currents of our collective unconscious.)

Life Path = 11/2
Justice/High Priestess

A sense of justice is strong within you, and you seek to maintain the balance of nature and the rhythm of life. The outer laws and circumstances must be in accordance with your inner nature in order for you to feel in sync. You are fair in your dealings with others, and you are keenly aware that your actions and decisions affect both yourself and others; you have a tendency to feel responsible for the results of your actions. Drawing on the High Priestess, you ideally use both logic and intuition to balance your choices and actions; you strive to apply the wisdom of the High Priestess to everyday life. 'What you sow, you will reap' tends to be your motto, and you carefully weigh the pros and cons before making a decision. You have a high regard for beauty, balance, and harmony in life and your surroundings. You may be drawn to an interest in law, finances, and publications (i.e. writing, editing, and research).

Life Path = 20/2
Judgement-Aeon-Renaissance/High Priestess

With this life path, it is important to incorporate both creative and career with family. Trying to have one without the other will make it very difficult and have you feeling like something is missing. Even so, you have a need to bring creativity into all areas of your life. You have a strong sense of 'time' and the currents of time and how they affect life. You have the ability to see the history and longevity of any situation, and ***** what portions are workable and which ones need to be discarded or revamped. You have the ability, and sense of commitment, to share your perceptions and ideas in such a way that you inspire and motivate other people. Combining your gift of perception with communication, you might be drawn to work as a consultant, therapist, healer, critic in any of the creative arts or standard professions, or as a teacher of techniques of self-transformation; a past life regressionist or hypnotherapist. You may also find that change and transformation is essential to you, but simultaneously difficult at times; yet you strive to 'perfect' yourself, and you believe in going all the way. There is also a tendency to be very critical of yourself and others. Use the wisdom and intuition of the High Priestess to maintain the much needed balance and sense of control in all situations. There's a strong sense of 'awakening' or renaissance with this life path; an awareness of life and death and rejuvenation. You're likely to be keenly aware of synchronicities, and with the intuition of the High Priestess can discern the meaning they have for you. With this life path, you draw on both the High Priestess and the Judgement-Aeon-Renaissance which affords you with an intuitive insight into the mass unconscious of your time, and especially for your generation.

The High Priestess Constellation includes several aspects of the Two's. In decision-making situations they represent different ways of handling the process: blending together of ideas or choices (Cups), choosing one over the other (Wands), complete indecision (Swords), or choosing both options (Pentacles/Disks). The Two's also represent 'tools' of the High Priestess which you might use: Peace of Mind (Swords), Love/Empathy and Emotions (Cups), energy which seeks to harmonize and unify thus leading to a sense of Dominion (including Estate) and/or Balance (Wands), and Change which is expansive yet stable (Disks). They also can represent different types of intuition which the High Priestess can draw on: Swords are telepathic, Cups are empathic, Wands are perceptual, and Pentacles are kinesthetic. Lastly, we can see ways that intuition is expressed: inspired things (Swords), picking up on others' feelings and moods (Cups), trusting one's core and inner knowing (Wands), and sensing information through the body (Disks).

---------------------------------------------------------

Life Path = 3
Empress

A person with this life path is like the Empress with a deep capacity to love, nurture, comfort, support and heal others; but does both give and receive with wisdom. As such, you would do well in any of the professions concerned with nurturing others such as the medical professions or healing arts; animal husbandry, farming, and veterinarian work; architecture, design, landscaping or any of the arts that contribute to beautification like being a fashion designer, interior decorator, gardener, florist, artist, or superb chef. Fertility and creativity are innate with this life path. Your greatest challenge is probably to nurture, comfort, and support yourself in equal proportion to how you support and nurture others; even a need to sometimes remember to put yourself first before others. You can, and probably do, act as a role model for others aspiring to the beauty, balance, harmony, and wisdom which you possess. It may also be difficult for you to "let go of" those you feel connected to. You have a strong sense of reality, functioning primarily through your physical senses. You are also drawn to, and usually deeply in tune with, nature in all forms.

Life Path = 12/3
Hanged Man/Empress

With this life path, like the Hanged Man, you tend to view things from a different perspective; always turning things upside down, and looking at situations and persons from many different postures and angles. You will probably find it difficult to limit or restrict yourself in any way, and you tend to be a natural pattern-breaker. 'Marching to a different drummer' could be your motto. With this comes the ability to totally devote yourself to your work, art, or cause, to the point of complete oblivion to yourself and your surroundings. You do have the ability to help others look at life and their problems from different and fresh perspectives. And since you have the inherent gift of constantly freeing yourself from self-imposed limitations, you could likewise assist others in this process. Pursuing the life of a comedian may be appealing as it would afford you the avenue of helping others to see things from a different viewpoint. The work of a psychologist who 'reframes' a problem for the other person might also be appealing.

Life Path = 21/3
World-Universe/Empress

With this life path, you naturally love to explore and enjoy adventure; you're even a 'builder of new worlds' and are a natural visionary. This allows you to instinctively see what needs to be re-built or redesigned in many areas such as environment, ideas, projects, or people. You especially enjoy traveling and experiencing other areas of the world including distant countries and cultures. Incorporating the Empress's capacity for creating 'bodies' and such, you have the natural ability to renew and regenerate both yourself and others. You have a world view, and may be strongly drawn to environmental issues, and attempts to make the universe a better place to live; The Empress's connections to nature is intensified here. You may spend time questioning the origins of the universe, and have a love for astronomy and related subjects; yet you instinctively know where you 'fit' in the universal scheme of things. The concept of freedom is probably very important to you. You may find it difficult to be 'restrained' or to have to work within a structure of some kind; view these frameworks as channels for your freedom and creativity. With this life path, you tend to take care of the world first, and yourself last, so it is especially important to spend time nurturing yourself.

The Empress Constellation encompasses all of the elements and draws to it three resources of love or nurturing, and one challenge or obstacle that hinders the expression of love and emotions. It is with these tools that the Empress expresses externally these things. The challenge (often a major one) or obstacle is sorrow which is held in the mind (3 of Swords); a tendency to mentally rework old wounds or sorrows. To metaphorically "pick at the scab on the wound and cause it to fester" and become worse rather than to heal. This sorrow, however, can be lessened and dissolved with the other three tools: finding within a place of integrity and truth (3 of Wands); communicating our abundance of feelings however deeply hidden they may be (3 of Cups); recognizing our intentions and focus, and having a clear view of our priorities (3 of Disks).

You are assertive, positive in outlook, forceful in your beliefs, and dynamic about getting things done. Even in your 'strength' you are warm, nurturing, electric, vital, and energetic; especially in activities or projects that are meaningful and challenging to you. You have strong leadership abilities, and will often be put in such positions whether or not you want them. You may find yourself running your own business; or wanting to. At the very least, you will probably be most comfortable working in areas where you are the head of a program or department. Ultimately you need to own your own power and authority; do not abandon it into someone else's hands. It is also important to have people around you who are as 'strong' as you are. You are also a creative person, and adept at setting new things in motion; and a capacity to implement visions, dreams, and ideas in a practical way. You may have a desire to immortalize yourself through some form of creative endeavor. Some areas that might interest you career-wise are starting your own business/project/ department, engineering, design, construction, photography or film work, international work, arts, model construction, chemistry, physics, writing, sports, and travel-related enterprises. At the very least, you are probably drawn to traveling extensively either personally or professionally, or both. You most likely serve as a role model for others who admire your leadership and visionary gifts.

Life Path = 13/4
Death-Rebirth-Transition/Emperor

This life path brings with it a commitment to the process of transformation and change, particularly that aspect of letting go and moving forward. You will most likely find yourself undergoing many transformations and dealing with many changes during your lifetime, including deep changes which take you beyond family and cultural conditioning. You will probably also find yourself frequently assisting others with their transformations and changes such as helping them deal with divorce or coping with the loss of a loved one, supporting people in initiating new experiences, or midwiving the birth of babies. You have the ability to experience life and relationships deeply, and also have the capability to let go or release situations and people when it is no longer appropriate or right action to stay attached. You also recognize that detachment is a form of objectivity that includes caring, and you are able to love objectively and let go when necessary. People with this life path tend to learn by facing their own mortality, and even taunting it, orchestrating their lives to take them to the very brink of death or discorporation. Activities which have an air of 'death-defying' or 'dare-devil' about them draw your interest. You have the natural leadership abilities of the Emperor, and you bring passion and depth to whatever you do; taking nothing lightly.

Life Path = 22 (0)/4
Fool/Emperor

In numerology, 22 is a 'master number' and looks at things on a large scale: master builder, architect, engineer, involvement in large ventures. In our look at life paths related to tarot cards, the individual numbers of 22 are subtracted to result in 0 or the Fool, which is also sometimes considered the 22nd card of the major arcana. So we look to the Fool for indications of this life path. Spontaneity comes instantly to mind, but it also indicates a highly creative person who needs a lot of variety in their life. Fool people are not foolish or fool-hardy, but are courageous and risk-taking which can make them come across as fearless. With this life path, you are probably drawn towards exploring the mystical, transcendent, and transpersonal realms of consciousness. While being adventurous and courageous yourself, you also inspire those qualities in others. Likewise, your sense of wonder and anticipation is contagious. This life path could also indicate a need to develop greater trust, innocence, and lightheartedness. While the Emperor relishes rules, the Fool/Emperor tends to believe he is exempt from the rules he makes. Self-discipline can be one of the challenges of this life path, and you tend to be forever 'young at heart.' Successfully integrating the qualities of both the Fool and the Emperor may be a life-long process.

The Emperor Constellation draws on the principle of personal power and leadership. With the tools of the Emperor, you can incorporate qualities of leadership which maintains your own power and/or empowers others. The tools of the Emperor include solving problems through negotiation, or truce (4 of Swords), as you come from a place of emotional fulfillment, or luxury built on a sense of your internal feelings matching your external statements (4 of Cups), all the while communicating a sense of wholeness, or completion, which includes the intuition to know when completion and moving on is needed (4 of Wands), all of which creates an environment of empowerment in yourself and others. The Emperor Constellation also divides up into the two parts of transformation: the peace of mind or resolution (4 of Swords) to let go and move forward freely (Death/Rebirth); then owning and demonstrate your own power (4 of Disks), and following what has an emotional resonance for you (4 of Cups) into something new.

---------------------------------------------------------

Life Path = 5
Hierophant

With this life path, you strongly value family, and most likely create a personal and professional support system or extended family wherever you go. Loyal, practical, and community-mindedness are attributes of this life path. Learning and teaching situations are important to you, as is a sense of structure; rigidity may creep in at times though. You are well-suited to areas which include teaching, counseling, consulting, and management situations. Spirituality in many forms has probably played a significant role in your life, and is likely important to you. At different times in your life you may find yourself assisting others with inner work and exploration and/or be involved yourself in exploring your own internal realms and values. Hierophant literally means spiritual teachings or bringer of the light so often people with this life path have a deep philosophical nature and strong sense of faith in themselves and others. Hierophant also means Speaker of Mysteries and a person with this life path may become a spokesperson of some kind; effectively translating information for the general public. As a teacher, you have the ability to adapt your presentation to fit the needs of those you teach. Single 5's are often afraid of making mistakes, and want to be very sure before they do anything; rather than risk being ridiculed, they often prefer not to try at all if they think they might fail. However, learning from their mistakes is actually one of the best ways for a person with this life path to learn.

Life Path = 14/5
Temperance-Art/Hierophant

As a person with this life path, your inherent nature is one of bringing together polarities, oppositions, and paradoxes in order to create a greater whole. Even when the parts are simultaneously paradoxical, you can bring them together in such a way as to create symmetry and balance in the resulting 'whole piece.' You are most likely a visionary who can often see possibilities and combinations that many other people would never consider. This gives you an unique perspective on matters, and you often employ creative approaches to solving problems. You also have a natural ability to temper and balance situations which seem impossible. Temperance also represents healing, tempering, adjusting, redistribution, and blending together of 'pieces' to achieve the balanced and 'working' unity. As a healer you recognize that illness is the deterioration of a perfect whole, and as such you tend to heal on all levels; body, mind, spirit, emotions, and psychic levels. Carried to the extreme, this life path can lead towards an outlook of wanting to purify by wiping out undesirable qualities, or eradicate any opposition. You may have recognized that timing is the key to manifesting results on the physical plane, and that you actually create your world in the image of your thoughts. This life path also seems to be 'washed in the fountain of youth' and you may find yourself maintaining a certain impetuosity, as well as tending to look and act younger than your age. As a 14/5 life path, an aspect of the Hierophant becomes the innate ability to integrate and synthesize polarities and oppositions in such a way that you balance your strengths and weaknesses.

The Hierophant Constellation holds within it the four challenges which we need to overcome in order to access the wisdom of our inner teacher. These are the challenges that we face during our lifetime which test the faith of the Hierophant: Fear of Doubt (5 of Swords), Disappointment (5 of Cups), Strife or Anxiety (5 of Wands), and Worry (5 of Disks). The qualities of the Hierophant(the inner teacher(however, enables us to confront these challenges and incorporate the wisdom gained from them into our lives. In this way, we turn the major challenges into teaching opportunities and learn to move through thoughts or fears of defeat (Swords); to deal with the emotionality of our disappointments and move on (Cups); to access and trust our intuition in order to relieve anxiety, frustration or strife (Wands); and to stay clearly in present time, rather than flitting to past or future, which releases worry (Disks) and tends to 'borrow trouble' that may never materialize.

---------------------------------------------------------

Life Path = 6
Lovers

With this life path, you have the capacity to inspire and motivate people of all ages and all generations; you have the ability to work well on a one-to-one basis or with people in groups. You may have the inherent gift of establishing relationship lines and perceiving what's working and what's not working in relationships; or you may find relationships a 'challenge' in some way either in establishing them or in maintaining them. Even so, some of your greatest talents are people skills. You are sensitive to other people and relationships, and it is important for you to give yourself some space, and spend some time alone integrating your experiences. You may find that in choice-making, you intuitively weigh choices and instinctively know how to proceed; or you may find a reluctance to choose or make decisions. Still, you have the insight or perception to see what's workable and what's not workable, and are gifted in putting together ideas and such that others do not readily think of as workable. You have the inherent gift of synthesizing, integrating polarities, oppositions and paradoxes, but you also need to integrate your interests and learning experiences into your life as a whole. You frequently need time for contemplation and introspection; you need some emotional and psychological space as well. You probably feel as though there are two 'pieces' of you which you are frequently trying to reconcile and bring together; integration again. Unrestricted and honest communications within relationships are vital to you. You are intensely curious about how anything 'works' and may take mechanical things apart; you are always trying to figure out the relationships of things and people to one another on all levels. Balance, choices, and integration seem to be the 'keys' to this life path.

Life Path = 15/6
Devil-Pan/Lovers

This life path incorporates the ancient god Pan as well as some of the Capricorn traits, and as such, it is important for you to maintain a sense of humor and your productivity. You are a practical person and yet you know how to have a good time; it would actually be easy to swing to either extreme. People enjoy being around you, for not only is there an appealing sense of earthiness about you, but they enjoy your sense of humor and its unique combining with practicality and productivity. During much of January, while Capricorn rules the zodiac, you are willing to face your own bedevilments or problems with mirth and sure-footedness as well as assist others with their problems and challenges. You highly regard being able to face challenges by being open and receptive to creative options and by being dynamic and assertive in your execution of solutions. You not only are willing to look inward for guidance, but you also are willing to see things as they are rather than as you'd wish them to be. Sometimes there is a sense of a part of you which you try to keep hidden or repressed; you prefer to find a structured form that can contain your fears and thus keep them separate from your sense of self. You may appear distant and cold to those who are unaware of your deeper, more passionate self. You probably grew up within a rigid but satisfying structured view of the world; even now you may find yourself feeling 'tied' to certain views or attachments. Or else you may tend to be unaware of being 'bound to' ideals or material things.

The Lovers Constellation seeks balance through choices and integration, but is also reminded not to take things too seriously; to use humor and stability to manifest on all levels: objectivity in the mind (6 of Swords), pleasure in the heart (6 of Cups), victory in the spirit (6 of Wands), and success in the external world and in our relationships (6 of Disks). These are also the four keys to maintaining a successful relationship of any kind: seeing things objectively and as they are (Swords), spicing up relationships with play and pleasure (Cups), which allows for achievement of a win/win victory situation between partners (Wands), and giving both a sense of manifesting success (Disks) within the relationship.

They can successfully execute multiple tasks at the same time; it's not a question of what you can or want to do, but of how many things you can do simultaneously. You can, however, happily remain in one situation, personally or professionally, if it provides you with the variety and challenge which you need and want. You do find yourself constantly balancing a need for quietude and activity, as well as implementing changes in your life that are both nurturing and fortunate. This can sometimes leave you feeling a bit 'pulled' in different directions. You enjoy family and home for the stability that it provides, but you may find yourself changing residence several times; you also love to travel, but maintain a firm connection to your home and family. You have strong roots in your family, people, and country, and you usually see yourself as their defender. You are a natural generator, motivator, and stimulator. If things become too boring in work or relationships, you will most likely be the one to generate change in some form which breaks the monotony. Movement and quietude in some combination are essential, but changes need to produce some kind of tangible result in order to be satisfying for you.

Life Path = 16/7
Tower/Chariot

With this life path, you may frequently experience a feeling of being unsettled. Change is inherent here, and the key seems to be to work within the change, and make the change work for you. You have a natural ability to heal, renovate, and restore ideas, people, buildings, organizations, and environments. You may find yourself interested in healing as an art, and may work in this profession. At the very least, you will likely find that spending time in nature to rejuvenate and get in touch with your inner self increasingly important to you. You are also, internally, a natural architect, designer, and builder of ideas, forms, and visions, but it is important for what you see and imagine to materialize into form. You can usually see what is and isn't working, and you most likely have a desire to always repair, rectify, and restore people, things, or situations to a more balanced, beautiful, and harmonic state. You may find yourself either inexplicably drawn to heights, or fearful of them; neutrality probably isn't possible. Your life is probably rarely calm, as you are propelled forward by the constant changes you encounter. Often major changes in your life circumstances catapult you into a whole new direction or change the circumstances of your life; you also experience emotional ups and downs. But out of all the chaos you constantly build new and more appropriate 'structures' and circumstances.

The Chariot Constellation embraces continuos change, and within it we see three internal challenges encountered in the process of growth and one internal gift which can maintain or sustain the movement: change is resisted through debauch, or indulgence patterns which detour us (7 of Cups); fear of failure or fear of success also restrains our movements (7 of Disks); futility is a tendency in the mind to sabotage our efforts (7 of Swords); and moving through and beyond the challenges, we are able to set our sights and stay with what we value (7 of Wands).

---------------------------------------------------------

Life Path = 8
Strength

People with this life path are creative, and are often drawn to the creative and performing arts or may use their creativity in many areas where they are in the limelight or highly regarded for their originality which they bring to traditional settings and situations. This person is charismatic, radiant, and exhibits strength and risk-taking tendencies. Through that strength, you are usually in control of situations, and with your inner strength, in control of yourself and your life. You maintain that control by being in tune with your own inner nature, and by recognizing the similarities in all creatures and events, and working with that power and energy rather than against it. Whatever your convictions and beliefs may be, you strongly adhere to them, and defend them when necessary. The more you understand your emotions, the more you can use those passionate feelings to 'charge your hopes' with the energy that will actualize them. You may be drawn to healing work; working as a midwife, working as a healer who assists the body's own mechanisms in maintaining health, or working with other forms of energy and/or touch healing arts. Face your fears by expressing them, and realize that by bravely looking at the worst that can happen you will come to realize that it is at the least endurable if not beneficial or even that the fear is greater than the actuality. You are a survivor. Your love of life is felt by others as steadfast strength and perseverance, and as a determination to never let the odds get you down. You are by nature empathic, and can sense what others, including your adversaries, are feeling and thinking. Realize too that part of your strength is in recognizing and voicing your emotions; not by suppressing or ignoring them. You most likely remain calm and collected in emergencies; first calming the panic, and then examining the needs.

Life Path = 17/8
Star/Strength

People with this life path are seen by others as being naturally radiant and confident. There is a natural charisma and magnetism which pulls people and opportunities toward you. At different times in your life, you may be recognized for accomplishments which provide a contribution and service to others. You are also drawn to healing in some form, and on many levels. You may work as a healer, or simply be intuitively aware of what needs to be done to heal ills on all levels: body, mind, soul, emotions, etc. You also have a natural ability to assist others with self-esteem issues, and to assist them in trusting their inner guidance and intuition; building confidence and trust in themselves. You are a natural visionary who trusts your own intuition and your feelings; you have an innovative and inspirational mind with a deep commitment to actualize those ideas on earth. You may, however, be seen as someone who is 'ahead of your time' in your thinking. You may appear cool, even distant, on the outside, but inside you burns the light of inspiration. You may also tend to keep your emotions and personal life closely guarded and out of the public view. You are drawn to the serenity of, and a feeling of connectedness with, the universe; a regular practice of meditation or being in nature is helpful to you and a source of comfort and healing for you.

The Star Constellation deals with, in part, self-esteem and inner strength. Within the constellation we see two ways we can sabotage ourselves: over-analyzing situations creating self-doubt (8 of Swords); over-extending ourselves to the point of depletion and then inertia (8 of Cups). And two ways we can re-establish or fortify that strength and balance: using prudence and the wisdom to act from a centered place (8 of Disks); swiftness of action with a willingness to drop procrastination, and directness of communication (8 of Wands).

Life Path = 9
Hermit

This life path brings with it a deep regard for order and harmony, as well as a deep love for quietude and time spent alone; you may even tend to isolate yourself. You can be around people and situations, but you need to have a feeling of psychological, emotional, and environmental space. You do tend to withdraw into yourself and into your own physical surroundings, however; you tend to be a perfectionist. If you begin to feel limited, restricted or restrained, you will most certainly leave the situation and make space for yourself; claustrophobic situations are completely unbearable for you. Likewise, if situations become too chaotic, disharmonious, and disorganized, you will remove yourself from that situation. You have an inherent love of balance, beauty, and harmony that you revere and greatly desire in your life. You command and model respect and integrity which may serve to put you in leadership positions whether you desire that or not, but you are unwilling to be involved as a leader in any situation where you have had no direct experience of some kind. You probably lead best by showing the way and setting the example, while growing yourself even as you lead and teach; you also serve as a role model for others. You are intuitively aware that you can only make decisions for yourself, yet you are available to assist others with perspective and insight. Older people may play an import part in your life as they represent the 'wise person' and at different times, older people will appear to present important opportunities or will be important mentors to your growth and development.

Life Path = 18/9
Moon/Hermit

With this life path, you have a great deal of magnetism, and often your personality has the capacity of bringing light into darkness. That magnetism leads people to feel like they know you, but you tend to be more mysterious, and only allow a few people to be really close to you. Your emotions run deep, and you have a great depth of feeling. Because of this, you tend to establish trust and loyalty before allowing others to explore the depths of your nature. You have a natural ability to make choices, and deception in any form will be difficult for you to handle. Your inherent nature is to reclaim the authentic aspects of your life so that your commitment to truth and self-disclosure can be expressed. You have a way of 'shining the light' on situations, illuminating what's at the heart of the matter. Since your inherent gift is to reveal and to make sound choices, you may find yourself assisting others, too. The Hermit's intuition and strong psychic tendencies are amplified in this life path; you delve deeply into your unconscious, and draw on the wisdom you find there. You are fascinated by the unseen and the unknown, the strange, and possibly even the macabre. You really don't have any abilities that other people lack; you just tend to be more curious about them. You are likely to feel quite comfortable in the dark, and have a sense of affinity with the Moon; finding your own personal cycles matching and mirroring the moon's cycles. Working with this activates a sense of inner 'knowing' which Hermits must learn to trust. You probably respect the unseen and unprovable experiences of others as valid experiences from which we can learn.

The Hermit Constellation is built largely on the principle of introspection and completion of cycles, which allows for the initiation or expansion of something new. Within the aspects of the Hermit, we find a major challenge and three internal gifts. The challenge is that such introspection and contemplation can often lead to self-inflicted cruelty (9 of Swords), which is the result of self-criticalness and self-doubt born of perfectionism. The gifts counter this: a strong inner spirit and inner strength (9 of Wands), inherent happiness fueled by completing things and having our heart involved in our activities (9 of Cups), and trusting our inner guidance aligns us with our purpose and sets up a 'gain' situation (9 of Disks).

Saroja
Default Modern Arithmancy

Modern arithmancy is the application of the magical properties of numbers to describing spells and spell-like effects. This particular area has great importance to the field of curse breaking and the more relatively new field of magical security.

  • This spell is cast using a straight downward motion followed directly by an upward motion and a flick. The effect is that if cast on an unprotected curse on a physical object, similar to the spell sperevelio used to identify the components of a potion or poison, it will reveal the numerical components of the spell which allows a witch or wizard the opportunity to identify and possibly bypass it.
The limitation of this spell is in its direct use on very simple curses. It is of no use in identifying charms or transfigurations cast directly.
