As Harmony hastily added the sneezewort blossoms so she wouldn't sniff them, she stirred as instructed. "...8...9...10..." she muttered to herself with utmost concentration.

She then reached for the chicken feathers which were right beside her cauldron and put them in. She then sighed and started counting again, stirring with presicion, determined not to lose count. "...23...24...25..." she muttered again through gritted teeth.

She momentarily wiped her forehead and looked at the notes she had sribbled down earlier. 'Boil for 5 minutes while stirring 5 times counter-clockwise then, 1 time clockwise and repeating.' She nodded, and did as instructed.

She set her watch to the 5 minutes and started stirring, "1...2...3...4...5 counter-clokwise. 1 clockwise" she repeated to herself, carefully stirring the brewing potion in her cauldron. As her watch ticked to 5 minutes, Harmony then watched her potion boil.

And as 5 minutes ticked by once more, she carefuly removed her cauldron from the heat and extinguished the fire.

Romy looked at her cauldron. Her head was deep red, she wanted to brew the potion perfectly. At the last lesson she had make a mistake But this time I'll make it better she was telling herself. She had take the the double potions class to get better in brewing potions. She looked one more time at the board to make sure that was everything alright. "O.K. next boil 5 Min while stirring 5 times counterclockwise....yes" she did it exactly.

After the 5 Min she stoped strring. She let the potion for antother 5 Min on heat and after that she removed the cauldron from the fire. She looked at the potion and hoped that Prof. Branxton will be satisfied. She saw Julie sitting at her desk, romy sighed, and though maybe one day I will be so good in brewing potions as Julie.

"Excellent. Now your potions should all be a brownish yellow color. Just set your cauldrons aside to cool while we have our discussion. Why do you think I told you not to ingest this potion nor get it on your skin?"

Emma was pleased that her potion was the right color. She felt that potions was a very interesting subject.

"It could irritate your skin because of all the things that make you sneeze. And the potions are incomplete, so the sneezing might be unstoppable." answered Emma.

OOC: Is the next bit of the double another lesson?

Linnea smiled at the brownish yellow of her cauldron and set it aside, "Because it would cause us to sneeze?" She suggested, remembering that they had been discussing sneezing and it *was* called the Sneezing Suffusion

Sabrina raised her hand. “Could it be because sneezewort has inflammatory properties and can irritate the skin or inflame another organ such as the brain? I’ve heard that it’s used in Confusing and Befuddlement Draughts because it causes one to behave recklessly. It does this by inflammation of the brain.” she finished, furrowing her brow as she tried to remeber if she heard correctly.

Emma copied down what the Gryffindor girl had said. That may come in useful in future classes.

Fancy glanced into her cooling cauldron and was pleased to see the unpleasant yellowish-brown color Professor Branxton was describing. However, she did not know the answer to his question. She listened to what the other students said, jotting down a few notes on her parchment. What the Gryffindor girl said made sense, so she began to pay closer attention to the professor to see what he had to say.

Ozzy sat silently and held his quill redily in his right hand. "This is pretty fun." He thought to himself "I can't wait to see if we can use it on someone..." He grinned and chuckled as he wrote out a few notes in his Potions notebook for his own personal reference.

Rave looked at her potion happy to see it was the same color as described by the professor. She quickly wrote down the answers to what the other students had said in her notes.

Sarah looked down and saw her potion was just as the professor said it should be and wrote down notes in her notebook of what the other students had answered

ooc: This is actually the second part of the double lesson. The thread title is a little confusing but, I couldn't figure out a better way to do it. tee hee I numbered it 1 because I'm anticipating holding more double classes and these are bonus lessons that aren't planned, I just sort of decided I wanted to hold them at the last minute.

"Yes, Miss Ravenclaw Prefect you are correct. This potion can either be ingested or placed on the skin to induce sneezing. However, there is a difference between getting it on you and ingesting. What do you think that difference is?"

Taylor looked at his potion. It was slightly darker than what the professor had described, but it still seemed to be good.

Sarah thought and raised her hand "If you get it on you it could come out as a rash and if u ingest it will cause you to sneeze loads and could have an unpleasant taste"

Taylor raised his hand..."Would it be becuse if you drank it, the effects would last longer, but if you got it on you, you could just wash it off?"

Sabrina raised her hand "Would it be that ingesting it will most likely cause you to begin sneezing immediately, while getting it on the skin will make you sneeze, but if will take longer because it has to absorb into the skin for it to work?"

Gaby raises her hand. "When you drink it, you take the substance internally which means it's as far away from your nose as it can get. By placing it on the skin, the individual can smell the potion thus inhaling it into their nose aand causing them to start sneezing sooner."

Rose taps her pencil on her desk trying to think of a decent answer.

Linnea pondered his question, then listened as the other students in class gave what they thought was the answer, "Well, since one loses skin cells daily, and usually bathes, I'd say that by placing it on a person's skin would cause it to either wear off or be washed off, thus lasting a short period of time, and also inducing others close enough to smell, whereas if it is ingested it would circulate in the bloodstream, possibly for days, and would last longer."

Julie raised her hand and said "Its no use of drinking the potion, its like eating black pepper you won't sneeze, because its internal and the effects will wear off. But if you place it externally you will have full effect of inducing sneezing because sooner or later it will target your nose".

Harmony looked at her won potion. it had become just as the Profesor descirbed it. She smiled and raised her hand. "Ingesting it can only cause your insides to either burn due to the spice, or get tickled if you're used to spicy food, but the potion will also depend on the ingredients. If you inhale the smoke or get it on your skin, though, it is guaranteed that you'll sneeze."
She moved a little farther from her own cauldron, just to be safe.

"Excellent thoughts, excellent," Professor Branxton praised the students who were surprising him with their thoughtfulness. "This potion will work by either getting it on your skin or ingesting it. If you get it on your skin you will only sneeze for the amount of time it takes to evaporate or wash off. However, if you ingest the potion, you will need to take an antidote or wait several hours to days for it to work its way through your system and wear off. Therefore, when you test this potion on yourselves, I want you to place just a small drop on your hands. If you show any ill effects or cannot stop sneezing after a few minutes, come up to the front and you should wash your hands or I will administer the antidote. Any questions before we experiment?"
