The DADA classroom was opened. The desks were pushed to the front of the room so that there was plenty of open space in the back of the room. Rae entered the room and eyed the open windows that were letting in plenty of air and sunlight. It was such a mild day, perfect for a walk by the lake after class. Alone for sure.

ooc: MrsRadcliffe this is at least the 3rd time you have anouced your lateness to a class. The Professors take off house points for this and sometimes give detention. I highly recomend you stop.

"We don't tolerate lateness in this class. That will be 5 from Hufflepuff," Rae turned back to the class. "These are all good ideas, but Taylor is on the right track. However, I'm going to teach you a spell that is loads more fun than the Confundus. Who's heard of the Babbling Charm?"

Ozzy raised his hand. "Professor, would taking their wand away be sufficint, by taking their wand away, I mean by using the summoning charm?" He offered. "That sounds really stupid, but what the hay, it could work." He thought to himself and returned to taking notes. Realising he had just spoken out of turn he apologized to the Professor. "I'm sorry Professor." He said and geve her an apologetic smile, his face began to redden as he hid his face behind his textbook.

Serilda raised her hand. "When I was little, I saw a woman standing on the corner in London babbling randomly to a wall. I thought she was crazy until I found out she had been put under the babbling curse by a wizarding rival of hers," she said, jotting down some notes.

Eunice was sure that she'd heard of it somewhere, but wasn't sure exactly from whom, so she listened intently, getting her quill ready to write.

Kalaya smiled slightly, a babbling charm sounded like fun. Not for her of course...but maybe on her friends. She scribbled down a few notes as she waited for the professor to continue.

Sabrina raised her hand "Yes, this spell causes the victim to babble nonsense. This would be an effective spell to cast because it would stop them from using the incantation. As you said earlier, it's important that we pronounce a spell correctly. If the spell isn't pronounced correctly, then either nothing will happen or the effect will be different from that which you had planned."

"You're right, Sabrina. Five for Gryffindor. By causing your opponent to compulsively babble words without rhyme or reason, you'd effectively keep them from being able to cast their spell. The incantation for this spell is Garrio (said: GAH-rio, with a slight roll to the r). To cast, you'll make a downward stab before twisting your wand at the end. You may practice the motion now."

Taylor picked up his wand. He jabbed it down, then twisted it at the end. He repeated this several times to make sure it looked just like the Professor showed them.

Eunice took out her wand, made a downward stab, and twisted her wand. She thought it looked quite...odd...but did it anyways. It was fairly awkward and took a few tried to getthe motion fluid.

Sabrina smiled at her professor's comment, grabbed her wand and placed it in her hand. She stabbed it downward and then quickly twisted it at the end. She repeated this a few times, each time the movement becoming easier to do. She then copied down the wand movement and spell into her notebook.

Kalaya copied the motion over and over. It got easier each time she did it. She paused only to write the spell and the movement before continuing her practice.

Studying her movement, Eunice drew a digram of a wizard's hand holding a wand. She titled it "Babbling Charm" and showed step-by-step movements so that she could refer to it later.

"Excellent... now, we're going to cast against partners again, but let me tell you how this should go. I want the first person to cast one of the two spells against the second, observe the reaction, and then cast Finite Incantatem to release them. Then you'll switch. Try to practice both spells at least once each. You may not cast against your partner if they are unprepared or if they've called a halt, and you may not cast against anyone who isn't your partner. If you finish early, you may add Protego to your practice."

Ozzy lowered the textbook and set it aside before extracting his wand. He made a stabbing downward motion then twisted it as instructed. He did this a few times to make sure he was doing it properly. Once he had the wand movement down he got to his feet and looked around for a partner.

Gaby decides to practice the wand movements. A downward stab and then you twisting your wand at the end. She points her wand at the wand, then performs the downward stab and twist the end. Seems easy enough, but wouldn't it be difficult for a person her height to hit a full size adult in the head. Gaby raises her hand. "Professor, is there any particular area of the body you have to hit with this spell. I mean, it would be difficult for me to hit you in the face with my wand pointing in a downward stab."
