The Defense classroom was looking clean and bright, and Rae smiled at the obvious effort of the house elves. She settled behind her desk with a quill and parchment, prepared for her first lesson of the term.
IMPORTANT NOTICE: Okay, I love how excited everyone is getting, but let's try to keep things under control here. "You said wizards and witches were in beings. All the other 'beings' vaguely resemble humans. Centaurs and merpeople, er, don't as much as giants and goblins do." She felt her answer was rather weak, so she put off being so polite. "As in, half of them is intelligent, the other half is 'beast'."

Kalaya raised her hand, "They could be classified as beings, but both requested to be classified as beasts." She remembered reading that sometime, but she wasn't sure if these were the right creatures.

Jacob, taking down notes, was surprised by the number of people that knew the answer to that question.
Wow, I should study more. These people are good at defense against the dark arts. I wonder what got them so interested in this. They answer with such a passion, it's as if they love to raise their hand and answer the question. Oh well, I better raise my hand soon.
Jacob then listened intently to the lecture, trying to understand the information and waiting for the next question.
