Professor Fox opened the Arithmancy classroom and stepped in. He conjured a large box to appear on the instructor's desk at the front of the room. He then removed a small, old wooden box and set it near the front of the desk. Fox wrote silently on the board at the front:

Applied Arithmancy: Spell numerization
We will be continuing using concepts covered in last year's courses. This term we will be applying the theory we learned last term directly to curse breaking.

New Students:
If you are unfamiliar with the matereial covered last term, simply try to keep up. This material will be new for everyone, so try your best to learn as we go and interject your ideas and opinions when asked. I will not deduct points for incorrect answers, and questions are always welcome. However, we stay on topic in my classroom, and I don't tolerate rule breakers or class clowns.

Having written that, he turned his attention to the now empty seats and waited for everyone to begin arriving.

bic: meghan looked at hte professor confused. Than she looked at the box and than back at the professor. That was it. She just had to get it out of the box?

Serilda scribbed down everything she had heard and seen (on the board) and watched the lesson unfold before her eyes.

Amber joy watched intently at the girl standing next to the box. She glanced down at her notes and back up at the girl. THIS was going to be interesting, she thought to herslef.

Julie was staring at the chest wandering what alex will do next .. it wasn't that easy she definetely knew it wasn't that simple.

at the same time staring at mehgan with her eyes trying to tell her to focus on class

Taylor stared at the front of the class wondering what the box had to do with class, but decided not to question Professor Foxs authority

Blinking, Alex nodded and did as she was told. She stared at the box for a few seconds and raised an eyebrow. It didn't look as if it was locked but a spell would probably help as well.

The girl whipped out her wand from her dark green and pointed it at the box. "Alohamora," she hissed under her breath.

"Did it work, Professor? Wait, was it even locked?"

Lo stared at the box. There had to be a catch, something to make it atlest a little difficult to open. She looked around to see what the other students were doing. Some were taking notes, others looking at the box as well. Then she noticed Serilda and waved, before turning back to her notes.

Evy wondered if Alex was ever gonna make a move for the box. Perhaps she's scared, she thought smugly. She smirked.

Evy was surprised to see that the box could be opened so easily. She thought there would be a catch, and to tell the truth she was pretty deceived. Oh well, let's see what happens, she thought.

Professor Fox seemed to wince at her attempt. No sooner had she gotten the sentence out of her mouth than a beam shot from the box itself directly at Alex, freezing her in her place momentarily.

Evy frowned as the beam hit Alex. What was going on? And what did it have to do with arithmancy? She glanced at the teacher, hoping to get more explanations.
