However, you probably can be blamed for the no show of Witt." Lainey hid her grin behind her goblet before going on. "He went to Diagon Alley with me during the break. But I haven't seen much of him since then."

"I hope you would tell me if I was going wrong, but I think I'm going a bit crazy," Rae smiled slightly and looked out at the students. She was feeling a bit warm, but that had to be the number of people in the hall. "Why is it my fault that Witt isn't here yet? He was here over the summer, but I don't know where he went today."

"It's not really your fault," Lainey said kindly, deciding to lay off her friend for a while. She could see the stress from the first day on the job. "I'm just poking at you. He.. is off probably buying something for you. A congratulations if you will. You know him," Lainey cough out the words "better than me" and grinned into her goblet again.

Rae glared at her friend and pulled her hair before leaning and checking up and down the table. "Most of the staff are here. We have a good group this year. Maybe we'll actually make it through to the end of the term without anything strange happening." She knocked on the table.

"Speaking of the Staff being here...," Lainey said, indicating towards the newest arrival. "My personal favorite has just decided to join us. Missed his introduction. What a shame." Lainey laughed out loud at Borr. It was out of character for her to laugh at anyone, let alone someone much older than her. But this man was lower than that lowest scum of the earth in her book. "You should make a toast to him." Lainey nudged her friend under the table, laughing out loud again.

"Actually I think scum is higher than Borr," McAiken offered. "I think he's more related to the kingdom Protozoas. "I haven't seen Gideon since I got from King's Crossing."

Professor Branxton listened to the chatter around him, appalled at the childishness of it all. Of course he was aware of what had transpired the previous term with the man but, Mr. Borr still deserved some measure of respect as a member of the staff, at least in front of the students. He looked out over throng and wondered how the staff expected the students to grow into mature adults when they couldn't even set a good public example. He sighed and sipped his pumpkin juice, hoping he hadn't been wrong to tell Cassandra he'd accept this position.

Yarns took a deep sip from his goblet. He still hadn't said a word - only nodded briefly at some of the arriving professors. His view of the other staff members was a bit skeptical now. Why were they speaking so poorly of this Mr. Borr? Weren't the staff supposed to set a prime example to the students, promoting equality and fairness amongst each other?

He glanced at Professor Branxton, who seemed to be looking a bit confused himself. He shot him a questioning look accompanied with a tiny upwards flick of his eyebrows.

Professor Virohsa stared at the mention of a teacher being scum. She narrowed her eyes as she made a mental note of who were involved in that conversation. Deciding this was not the time or the place to put them in their place, she made the decision that leaving was the best course of action. She slowly moved her eyes away from them, shocked at the fact that the Headmistress had allowed comments like that made in such a public place. Perhaps, she had overestimated the Headmistress and some of the other professors.With that thought, she continued to eat her meal. Waiting for the right time to leave.

"Be nice," Rae said with a smile as she nodded to Mr. Borr. "He's contrite for his previous actions, and he's assured me he's a changed man. Or... he's still quite self-important, but I think we can do as much good for him as he'll do for us."

"You are right, he might just come around," McAiken offered. "I am glad it is so noisy in here, because of the excitement that our comments were only heard here at the staff table."

Picking up his goblet he drank deep from his wine. "I am excited for classes to begin. Teaching first years will be easier that what I had to do last year," he continued. "Just a normal term with a little outiside drama is all I ask for, really. I don't think the inspection will be that difficult as long as there are no glaring problems."

Professor Iccunnav quietly takes his seat at the end of the staff table, surveying his fellow staff members, smiling at them. Raising his goblet to his mouth he peers at the Headmistress over his glass.

Tucking a dark curl of hair behind one ear he next turns his attention to the House tables, remembering his Hogwarts days, smiling to himself of the many memories and glad to be back to one of the only places that he could call home.

Professor Presard took her seat, nodding briefly to the staff around her. She turned to the man beside her, a disgruntled looking fellow all in all. 'I'm sorry,' she murmured, leaning closer. 'Could you tell me did I miss anything important in the speech?'

Instead of joining the staff's conversation, Morpheus decided to help himself with a small amount of vegetables first. He pushed the wine aside and took the pumpkin juice instead. The students seemed to be joyous to be back, and apparently so was Hogwarts. He had read some awful stories in the Daily Prophet about the events that occurred the previous term and hopefully none of that was going to happen again. He took a sip of the pumpkin juice, cut his vegetables into small pieces and began to eat politely.

"No, there wasn't much to hear. Muggle construction at King's Cross, some new and returning professors, though she only mentioned the names of a couple returning professors. No introduction for those of us who are new," he replied, putting some chicken on his plate before offering the platter to the woman beside him. "Doyle Branxton. And you are?"

Having not paid any attention to the conversation about Borr, instead focusing on a number of students he thought deserved closer scrutiny, Professor Fox looked up. Noticing Borr in the hall, he turned to the nearest professor. "Well, it's certainly good that Borr is being kept on as school staff. I gather he's the sort of man that wouldn't do well with retirement."

Lainey stuck her tongue out at Rae. "I'm always nice. And I plan on doing him a lot of good." Lainey grinned again. "Who is the new Potions Professor by the way?" she raised up out of seat ever so slightly to get a better glimpse of him. "Looks... strict."

"He rode the buses from King's Crossing. His name is Professor Doyle Branxton. He was on the quiet side in the bus, but he was helpful. I didn't really see him being strict. Most of the time it his actions and words were very concise, effective and spoken in a cool manner." McAiken replied to Lainey. "I think he will do well as the Potions Master. I will be hoping his teaching the students will carry over to their performace in other area. I do believe he'll teach them discipline and concentration will eye on details. That will help us all."

McAiken looked down the table and nodded in Braxton's direction. McAiken waited for either Rae or Lainey to reply to his comments. He really did belief Braxton would influence the student and that would be in the positive manner."

"I was very pleased with Professor Branxton when I was interviewing him. I don't know if anyone can ever really replace Kris's spot in my heart, but I think Professor Branxton will actually be able to fill her shoes."

"Well instead of talking about him.. maybe we three oldies should try talking to him." Lainey leaned forward to Branxton and try and catch his attention. "Excuse me.. Professor? We wondering if you wanted to scoot your chair this way? Come join us." She grinned and made room between herself and Rae.

He looked up and found one of the previous professors looking at him. He turned back to Professor Pressard. "Excuse me," he said before politely pulling his chair closer to the professors who had been slightly immaturely before. "Good evening," he said and extended his hand in greeting. "Doyle Branxton, new potions master."

"So we've heard," Lainey said, taking note of his stiffness. "Anjelica Lainey, the veteran History teacher." She offered him a hand and continued on talking. "We were wondering.. where did you come from? Rae and I used to be Aurors back in the day and McAiken worked in the Ministry. How about you?"

"I was also a member of the Ministry. It seems quite a few of the staff have their roots there," he replied, removing his glasses and cleaning them with a hankerchief he extracted from within his robes.

"We had an even stronger Ministry influence last term," Rae replied mildly. "I don't know what to attribute it to, but I suppose the Ministry is the best place to gain the knowledge and work ethic necessary to teach many of the subjects we offer at Hogwarts."

Andrew answered Rae then looking at the new professor, "We really didn't much of a chance to speak on the bus. I am Andrew McAiken and I teach Transfiguration. Welcome back to Hogwarts."
