Ginny decided to get up since her legs were stiffening. She spotted fellow Ravenclaw, Ashlie and said hello.

OoC: Remember, we shouldnt be chattering too much in here, we don't want to clutter the board, with class not yet even started.

Ashlie nodded a hello to the Ravenclaw adressing her. She had to admit, it was taking a bit to get class started, but she didn't so much mind. She needed to clear up some things in her mind for the time being. Try and keep things to the back. Out of the way.

"Alright time to start. Today we are going to focus the spell "Evanesco". This is mostly a practical lesson so I need you from a line behind the table with non-living objects first and one line behind the basket." McAiken stated to the class. "Go on, get moving."

He waited as the students formed the lines. Then spoken again. The principle behind this spell is simple you want an object vanish from one spot and make it appear at another. In this case, from the table in front of you to the basket at the other side of the room or just the opposite of that depending on which line you're in. We will start with nonliving objects then move on the small living creatures."

"The incantation is "Evanesco". You will need to follow the three D rule. Can someone tell us that rule?" He asked as he stood between the table and the basket.

Ginny lined up beind the non-living objects. She was thinking about the question.

She raised a hand.

"Is it Destination, Determination and Deliberation?" she aksed, taking a really wild guess. She felt she had said the wrong thing.

"Correct, 5 points for Ravenclaw. Now can someone else explain it? Those of you who just began practicing Apparate, should be able to explain it." McAiken asked.

Ginny smiled but she couldn't answer the next question. She was too young to Apparate so she had no idea of the answer needed.

Lee whispered to Terry "Yeh maybe your right," he said staring at his classmates.

By this point Professor McAiken had ordered them to sort themselves into lines and Lee did so. He was quite excited about what they might be doing today, Transfiguration was always dead fun.

One Lee found out they were vanishing objects to other locations a grin came across his face. He liked a challenge. Professor McAiken had begun asking questions however before they had started. Thinking it best to give it a shot and earn Hufflepuff some house points he rose his hand and said "Well Professor i didn't take apparation lessons myself but i will try to explain it in my own way."

"The destination part of the three D rule is when you focus on where you want your object to go, in this case the basket. The determination is the faith you have in yourself and the object to actually make it vanish to a different location and delibiration is sort of encouraging yourself, giving yourself hope that you CAN do it."

Lee had hoped he had answered correctly otherwise he would be completely embaressed after making a fool out of himself. He waited for the Professor's response.

Ginny looked at Lee in utter amazement.

Lexy sorted into one of the lines and listened quietly as Lee and Ginny answered the questions, making mental notes to herself while humming oh-so-quietly.

VIolet also stood in the line and waiting till something else happens

"Five points for Hufflepuff. Lee, that's a good definition for the three D's, but it slightly off. Destination is the easy one. Determination is your inner strength, your knowing that no matter what you will do what you set out to do. Dilberation is carefully doing it." McAiken stated. "Now, let's practice it."

McAiken stepped up to the side of the table. With a switch and flick of his wand and using the incantation a roll of parchment vanished from the table. He repeated the process on a deck of cards in a box. He continued down the table each time the object was heavier than the next. The last object was a textbook.

McAiken summoned all of the object back to the table using "Accio". "Okay step up and take your turn. Work down the table. When the object appears in the basket that line with use the spell to send it back to the table," McAiken explained. "If we bog down I have more tables we can set up so we have more lines."

Nadia walked forwards to the table and withdrawled her wand. Doing this to yourself really wasn't like doing it to an object, and she found that with that one thing off her shoulder, the deliberation was only too easy. She wondered, however, how would a human or living being react to the Evanesco spell. It wasn't the Banishing charm, to put things away, but Vanishing, so it had to be slightly unlike.

All in all, that's not how she could have described the three D's herself. Then again, she had never pondered it much. She stopped besides a roll of parchment and scratched her head, as if still too troubled by what the D's meant. Once you fixed determination, willed yourself to do the spell and finally took the last spell to finally act...

"Evanesco!" she wved her wand over the objects, which gradually disappeared and appeared on the right place. She beamed at her achievement. Her mental map was working and only needed of concentration, her will as good as with any other spell, and without the fear or splinching or spinning or land on the wrong place, this was resulting quite easy!

Nadia rolled her sleeve and started a practice of vanishing thing after another, resolute to get the spell right this time and all times until she was very sure of herself and would have that same confidence for the Apparition Lessons. Which was the part she had troubles, deliberation.

Ozzy stepped up to the roll of parchment, which was set neatly before him on the table. He took a deep breath and. "Evanesco!" He shouted non-verbaly, with a swish and flick of his wand. The roll of parchment reapeared on the opposite side of the room laying face up in the basket. Beaming to himself he repeated the process over and over untill he reached the textbook. He closed his eyes for a moment and focused all of his attention on the book so hard that the sounds of the room dimed for a moment as he raised his wand. "Evanesco!" He shouted non-verbaly once more. He smiled inwardly to himself as the book vanished from the table and reappeard in the basket. He summoned it back, and placed it on the table where it had been before.

It was Jenna's turn next. She stepped up to the table and brushed her hair behind her ears.

"Evanesco!" She said the incantation, performed the wand movement perfectly, and the parchment that had been in front of her dissappeared. She blinked. She was mildly surprised that she had done it on the first try, but none the less moved onto the next object.

Evanesco! She tried the spell non-verbally this time. The deck of cards was gone in a heartbeat and had reappeared in the basket just as fast. Moving quite swiftly now, Jenna went down the table, silently waving her wand and watching as the objects dissappeared.

Finished (and grinning), Jenna flicked her wand lazily at the basket, and the objects flew back to the table. She resumed her position at the back of the line.

Athena walked up to table, nervous. She stood by the first item and took out her wand. She used the movement shown to her and said "Evanesco". Instantly the piece of parchment disappeared and reappeared in the basket. Gaining confidence, she moved down the table, doing the spell on each object. Most landed directly in the basket, but some landed on the basket's rim and then slowly rolled or fell in. When Athena finally reached the book, she did the spell. The book disappeared and reappeared right on the edge of the basket, not leaning left or right. Guess I need to practice my aim, she thought. She then summoned all the items back to their places and went to the back of the line.

It appeared to have reached Lee's turn. He waved his wand and muttered "Accio!". The items that were in the basket came floating slowly toward him and placed themselves neatly onto the desk.

Lee looked around at everyone else, they all seemed to be doing well. This made Lee nervous, after all vanishing was one of the advanced pieces of Transfiguartion and shouldn't be too easy. Lee let off a sigh and cleared his mind, all he had to do was to remember the three 'D' rule.

Destination, Determination and Deliberation he thought constantly to himself over and over again. He closed his eyes and took deep breaths. A few minutes past and Lee could feel impatient eyes upon him so thought it best to get a move on.

With the rule on going constantly in his mind he raised his wand and bellowed the incantation "Evanesco!". Lee watched with one eye closed as his spell took its effects. He watched as the piece of parchment muffled in a puff of smoke and then re-appeared in the basket opposite.

Lee was incredibly happy with his efforts and continued up the items, each of them getting heavier and heavier. By the time he got to the textbook he was incredibly confident, although this didnt show in his performance with the textbook. Unfortunatley he had forgot to vanish a few pages along with the rest of the book, he repaired this easily by summoning the book back, repairing it and then fully vanishing it the second time round.

Once Lee was finished he sat down on his seat to relax, afterall that was hard work no matter how easy people saw it.

It's Terry's turn now. If her abilities in aparation class are any indication, this exercise is going to be a disaster. Terry had used the Evanesco charm many times before, but she had never tried to direct the object to a specific place. Unsure if she can do it, Terry walks up to the piece of parchment. She turns around and looks at the basket across the room. That is where the parchment is suppose to go. Destination, determination is another matter. Determination, i want the parchement to disappear and reappear in the basket. Terry closes her eyes and visualizes the parchment in the basket. Deliberation, that is simple all she has to do is make the parchment disappear and reappear in the basket. Terry stares at the parchment. She swishes her wand and says evansesco. The parchment disappears and reappears on Professor McAiken's desk. "Well at least it made it halfway to the basket," she thinks to herself. Terry walks over to the professor's desk, swishes her wand, and says accio parchment. It returns to the table. "If at first you don't succeed, try, try again. At least I got it to move that's more than I was able to do in aparation class." Terry tries to move the parchment again.

Noel stepped up toward the parchment and eyed it, focusing all her mental energy on it, as though she were trying to smother it with her eyes. She rose her wand and calmly said, "Evanesco," in a bold voice. The parchment vanished and she smiled at it, it was sitting in the basket. She moved along the line and managed to use a non-verbal spell on the text book. Noel began to love transfiguration even more, she was starting to get the hang of it. Mind power was all it took.

"This seems to be a slow process so I want you to chose a partner. Lee, if you pass out a deck of cards to each team. Use a roll of parchment from you school bag, and a textbook. Each person behind a desk and practice. Don't "Accio" the item back to you. Let your partner send it to you on their turn." McAiken stated as he interupted the practice. When you have successfully sent all of the items to the desktop several times, I want each group to get two of the wooden boxes from the shelves. You goal then becomes vanish the item through a solid object."

"The tack will become more difficult at that point." the professor added.

Lee nodded to the professor and removed himself from his seat. He walked up to the front and picked up a box containing a deck of cards in each. He walked about the desks and placed them neatly on top of them for the partners to use for their next task in todays lesson. "There you are Sir," Lee said to McAiken.

He then turned to Terry and asked, "wanna be partners?"

Zekke had caught sight of Nadia and Jaren earlier and with the announcement of Mc Aiken's assignment, he found the two and held up a piece of parchment along with a notebook.

"Practice together?"

Athena looked around, she didn't know anyone in this class. She looked around to see if anyone needed a partner. As she looked, she brought the things out of her pack that Professor McAiken had told them to get out. Once again, she glanced around the room. Not seeing anyone immediately, she practiced her wand strokes.

Jenna takes out the neccessary items. She hadn't seen anyone she knew, so she decided to find someone. She spotted another Gryffindor girl sitting nearby.

"Hi!" Jenna smiled and extended her hand. "I'm Jenna, 2nd year. Wanna work together?" She waited for the girl to reply before putting her textbook (the parchment and cards were on top) on the desk.

Athena smiled at the girl. "Hi Jenna! I'm Athena, 1st year." She extends her own hand and shakes Jenna's. Then giving Jenna a relieved smile, she said "Sure, let's work together!" She then placed all of her stuff out on the table. She arranged them neatly by their weight. Then, looking up, she asked "Do you want to go first?"

Jenna shook Athena's hand and placed her own stuff down on the table. "Nice to meet you!" She smiled and stood a bit away form the table, where there was a piece of parchment positioned in the center. "Sure, I'll go first! Okay, we'll start with that," she pointed to the parchment, "So if I miss it won't do any damage." She paused. "Not that I'll miss!" She added hastily, realizing that it sounded like she was going to make the paper explode. "Okay."

She raised her wand and focused on the parchment. Then at Athena-the destination. Silently, she said the incantation.

Evanesco. She thought. The paper dissappeared, and a moment later floated slowly down behind Athena.

"Hmm...not bad. I should work on my aim, though!" She laughed, and gestured for Athena to take her turn."
