A spare room not often used by Florean's shopkeeper has been completely transformed for the use of a mini-quest for the kids. Where once were four walls, shelving, and other supplies now is a large, spacious, foggy field. There are tiny trees and shrubs scattered about, but it's the hill in the far back of the enchanted room that grabs your attention. Not because it's the largest thing in the room, but because of the noise. Someone is crying! It can be heard all through the room, and when you speak to the wizard who guards the door, you'll learn that a stuffed creature named Chewy is being held captive on the hilltop. Many have tried, but no one has been able to save the poor thing. Can you?

Are you up for that challenge?

For everyone brave enough for this challenge, the wizard will tell you to pair up in groups no larger than four, and will hand all the kids a wand. These wands can ONLY shoot out gusts of wind to knock back the creatures that are hiding out in the field, determined to stop anyone who wants to save the forlorn creature. Work together with your team to save Chewy, and reunite him with his stuffed mama. Just don't get caught! Those kidnappers have devilishly ticklish grips and are eager for more captives.

OOC: Game time! For kids 5 and older, this is simple enough. Have your kid pair off with another playing in this thread and receiving a wand. The task is to cross the field and get up the hill to the pin they have Chewy inside. The challenge is to NOT get caught by the other stuffed monsters who are determined to stop you. The worst these things will do is tickle you/try to take you prisoner, no actual violence so don't play that please. The wands only require pointing for gusts of air to shoot out, and are not real wands so no accidental magic can happen. Once you save Chewy, he'll be reunited with his mama, and the game with reset for more kids. Have fun! And remember, no violence.

SO! Derfael had no idea where to start because everything sounded exciting...but nothing screamed the term more than 'adventure' and after hearing a bit of talk among the grown ups about what all this adventure entailed...well...it really was the ONLY choice for the 10-year-old to partake in.

Broom racing had its appeal too...but LATER.

Bouncing in place, the blonde eagerly awaited his wand with an outstretched hand while his other clutched the handle of his enchanted briefcase that was FULL of stuffed animals thanks to mum and dad. He had was the embodiment of his superhero - even if mum's jacket was a little big and he was constantly needing to pull up the sleeves.

"Chloe, come on!"

This place looked super exciting and Gunnar was eager for his very own adventure, which was obviously for the bigger kids of the group. Morgan could go do something with the little kids (and Mommy or Daddy), but he and his sister were old enough for this. And they even got their own wand!!

The 7 year old had already run off ahead of his sister and was now eagerly waiting in line. Blue eyes took in all the sights as he looked around and waited their turn to get started. This was gonna be so fun!

"DERF!" she exclaimed as soon as she saw him and sprinted past the wand distribution. Flinging herself at her friend, her feet left the ground as she tackle-hugged him.

Derf saw MORE people coming, but obviously all his attention was drawn to his favorite creature loving red headed best friend. And good thing too because he was TOTALLY ready this time for the tackle hug. Did not mean he prevented her from knocking her over. Or rolling in the grass a few times.

His shoulder was all better anyway so he may as well use it.

"Hi!" he grinned when they finally rolled to a stop. "I like your cos-s-stume."

Even the potion that had tasted like cruppy pee. He HAD been able to see a Snidget nest up close and personal and it was all thanks to Hazel. Who wore grass stains effortlessly, if he did say so himself. "I did," he beamed proudly, pulling up the sleeves of his mum's coat again. "My briefcase is-s-s-s even enchanted!"

This... was a bad idea. But there was no one else around to tell her that.

She glanced off in the direction of the wands, then, nodding at his comment. "Ok. I can go get us each one, if you want?" And he could keep sitting. Or getting his briefcase ready for Hazel to hop in it. Either one.

He was honestly SO read to climb right back up that tree and see how much the Snidget had grown. Maybe even sketch the nest this go around. "S-S-Sure!" he chirped while grabbing said briefcase and flopping it on his lap. "Hmmm...dunno. Dad charmed it hims-s-self, s-s-so I reckon he did a good job wif it..." And it DID fit a whole BUNCH of his stuffed creatures into it. "Maybe at leas-s-st to your wais-st?"

That was surely possible.

"S-Sure," he nodded. "I can unload fis then." Meaning his briefcase so not stuffed creatures would be harmed in the process of their experiment.

Hazel nodded thoughtfully. Derf's daddy seemed like a careful sort and so maybe the briefcase wasn't huge inside. But she was certainly going to try.

Hazel scrambled to her feet and pulled up the one sock that had bunched around her ankle. "Ok. You do that. Take them all out because I wanna see what happens if I curl up. Maybe you'll be able to close it!" And with that, she turned and bolted toward the wizard with the wands, politely requesting two, and gesturing over to her friend, explaining that they were not both for her.

The calm and rational thing to do would have been to remain sitting and take each of the stuffed creatures out one by one, but the blonde boy was feeling ANYTHING but those right now. They were about to go on a rescue mission with THEIR OWN WANDS! Although this DID raise a BIT of concerns for Derf...like what if they were made from dragon heartstring? Had that been attained humanely? Phoenix feather? Had the phoenix willingly given it or had some harvesters just pinned down the beautiful creature and had their way with its feathers?

But right. He had gotten himself distracted by the real task at hand - emptying his briefcase.

Unlatching it, the boy stood and promptly turned it upside down, spilling its contents all over the ground. He had made sure to add a unicorn plushie JUST for Hazel...and of course there was a basilisk one for himself. Several owls. Pygmy puffs. A goat because of Stasya...

Not so humble pile at his feet, he turned the briefcase back over and dipped his head inside to see if everything had indeed come out. Which now gave him the appearance of someone from the Headless Hunt. Sort of. Minus not being semi-transparent.

She was coming she was coming. Her dress was just too perfect to move fast in. Either that or Princess Chloe was making a grand entrance, because truthfully Chloe wasn't delicate at all and never went slow for the sake of her clothes.

Now that she was in the room she stared at everything that was in there. "We get a wand? I'm going to hex you Gunnar." Not that it was what the game was, but she was giggling at her own words. She moved closer to her brother, "What do we do here? Just do spells like mommy and daddy?"

Would they get to keep the wand? Her excitement had her bouncing a bit as her eyes didn't stop moving around looking at all she could look at.

Having received the fake-ish wands, Hazel held one in each hand as she skipped back to Derf. But as she saw the pile of stuffed animals at his feet -- ooooo, a unicorn! -- and the briefcase over Derf's head, she stopped right in her tracks.

"What are you doooooing?" she managed to chuckle out, between giggles, the sight of her headless friend driving her into a squirmy, giggle-fit. She plopped back down on the grass, unable to catch her breath fully, laying on her side and snuggling up to the pile of plush animals.

And his head had officially found the bottom of his briefcase. At least he now had confirmation that dad had indeed not made it bottomless? So now his best friend was not at risk of getting lost in the charmed abyss.

"Checking to s-s-see if everyone got out," he chirped into the briefcase, which probably made his words echo and be a bit muffled. "All good!" He even showed her the empty contents before setting it down on the ground. "Reckon if you s-s-sit and touch your head to your feet it will clos-s-se."

She sat up at his news, however and eyed the briefcase curiously. "I'm taking one for a pillow," she said, reaching into his pile of animals and taking the unicorn. With that, she stood up and walked over to the case. Ten, and thus, mostly fearless, she looked at the briefcase only a moment before hopping over it's edge and in. As a significant portion of her disappeared immediately, she could be seen poking out. She looked at Derf and smiled. "Soon as I get comfy, I'll let you know and you can close it and then you should try to carry me around!"

With that, she plopped down in the case, sitting, which was only mostly enough. She considered a minute, before curling up on her side to make herself as small as possible. There. That should do it. She tucked the unicorn under her head and shouted up. "Alright! I'm good!"

Gosh, finally! Gunnar could hardly stand to wait any longer and he was bouncing on the balls of his feet while he stood in line. But luckily Chloe hadn't been that far behind him, because he wasn't sure if he was allowed to save her place in line. Cutting usually wasn't allowed. "Nuh uh, Chloe, because I'm gonna block you!" Yep, he knew about shield charms, no that he could do one, but that was what you did when you didn't want to get hexed by bad witches. He stuck out his tongue at her in jest because he was soon laughing about it too.

Oh! It was their turn and Gunnar proudly took a wand and took Chloe's hand in his other hand. He was the big brother, he would look out for her. His big blue eyes looked attentively at the old wizard as he listened to the instructions. Yes, he knew just what to do and he would blast all the baddies with his wand!

"Let's go save Chewy!" He tugged on Chloe's hand when it was their turn to go off on the adventure, and he led her out into the field. He was ready to get started!

She was going to be them when she grew up. YUP, super witch Chloe that was here in her princess gown of course. Soon she was distracted by all the people and everything going on. She knew about cutting in line to, but Chloe wasn't as patient as Gunnar and she wanted to be first. "Come on brother push ahead. I want to play." Plus if he got into trouble for pushing she could just smile innocently.

IT WAS THERE TURN!!

YES! She let him grab her hand and pull her along, "We get our wands now?" She was looking for the adults and someone to give her a wand. Her own personal wand! This was going to be great and they better get to keep them, because she wanted one. She knew Nanna would buy her one of her very own if she got the sad eyes going, but it was mommy and daddy here not nanna. This might be more difficult.

Derf wasn't sure WHAT he was feeling most right now...save for being eternally grateful that he had a best friend with as fierce a curiosity as he. Not to mention trusting enough to be the guinea pig for their enchanted briefcase experiment.

He heard SOMETHING...but it was hard to make out...."But I don't haf any gum!" he shouted back. HAD dad put gum in there? Must have been chewed gum that stuck to the bottom because it hadn't fallen out when he had turned the briefcase upside down.

And now he was realizing just how much they probably should have thought up a back up plan for things. Two knocks for trouble?

He lifted the briefcase and held it up to his ear, listening SUPER intently.

YES! She let him grab her hand and pull her along, "We get our wands now?" She was looking for the adults and someone to give her a wand. Her own personal wand! This was going to be great and they better get to keep them, because she wanted one. She knew Nanna would buy her one of her very own if she got the sad eyes going, but it was mommy and daddy here not nanna. This might be more difficult.

"No you won't! Because I'll do a SHIELD!" Didn't she hear him the first time? Gunnar was going to learn all the defensive spells so no one could hex him. Chloe wasn't gonna beat him. Nope, he was going to be a great wizard just like his daddy. But he was a little too focused on what was going on around them to be too worried about Chloe hexing him or him doing shield spells. They were going to do magic with wands here! And he needed to pay attention so he would know what to do. "Shhh! Chloe!" he chided her when she told him to push ahead. "We have to listen so we know how to do magic!"

As they got started, Gunnar kept his wide eyes focused on their surroundings and his wand pointed and ready. He wasn't sure exactly where to go or what would be waiting for them, even though he did his best to listen, so he crept forward through the field looking for any sort of movement or... "Chloe, look!" He pointed his wand as the stuffed creature came towards them. "A MONSTER!"
