I Hate You, I Love You
Connor Anders and Addison Donovan disliked each other from the moment they met each other on the Hogwarts Express during their very first ride to Hogwarts. Though they eventually dated and became married to each other, their path to that part of their lives was a rocky one.

Today was the best day in the history of all days! Well alright the best day ever was the day of her birth of course and then getting her, no wait. Receiving her wand was the best day EVER! This was the second day ever. Mhmm. She would be boarding the train for her very first time ever at Hogwarts! Hopefully she wouldn't get sorted into her brothers house...dealing with him at home was more then enough.

The tiny eleven year old had waved her goodbyes to her parents and clambered up onto the train with her cat smoky gray furry cat Cole in her arms, her trunk being pulled behind her. Within seconds she had completely lost sight of her older brother and therefore had no idea where she was going. A glance back and forth had her tugging the trunk towards the luggage compartment and dropping it off there before making her way to find somewhere to sit.

Which lead her to where she was now sat inside an empty compartment, Cole stretched out in all his fluffy glory at her side. The bright blue eyed child shifted onto her knees beside the window, in her red and black shorts and shirt to watch the people outside. Could the train go now please? She was more then ready to see where they were going and to finally get there!

Making friends and candy could wait for now!

FearlessLeader19 12-15-2016 01:02 AM

Hogwarts. Yeah, yeah. Connor was as excited for it as much as someone would be excited for a trip to the dentist's. He didn't even bother to linger on the platform as his older cousin had already dumped him off at King's Cross and left. Not that Connor cared. Truth be told, he didn't even know why Mary had taken him in if she was always rude to him. Possibly it was because Mary's mother's dying wish was for her to take care of him since he had no parents of his own.

The eleven year old pushed past Hogwartians, he searched for a compartment. They were all occupied by chattering students. Connor didn't want conversations with any of them. He was just fine being on his own. He wasn't on his way to Hogwarts to make friends but to become good enough to enter the Ministry of Magic. Ambitions... he had them.

Connor finally came across a compartment that seemed empty. It wasn't until he slid the door open that he realised that there was a girl there. He mentally shrugged and sat down far away from her as possible. His plan was to ignore her for the rest of the train ride.

Kolyander 12-15-2016 01:37 PM

She was waving at everyone outside the train. It sure stunk to be those people out there and not like her inside here. Ha! Addi was going to Hogwarts while they were all going back to their very boring lives.

The compartment door slid open causing the girl to look over her shoulder to see who was there. Just so it wasn't Evan she would be just fine. Bright blue-gray eyes fell upon a much younger boy that clearly wasn't her brother. Was this his first time on the train? Was he a first year too?!

Addison turned around in her seat and plopped down. "Hi! I'm Addison, are you a first year too?" she asked wiggling a little bit in excitement in her seat as she studied the boy across from her. Reaching out she laid a hand on her cats head rubbing between his ears.

FearlessLeader19 12-17-2016 01:18 AM

"I'll take a nap,'' Connor thought to himself as he settled in. All he had to do was stretch his entire body out across the seats and he'd be happy. He actually started to do just that but paused as the girl turned around. He stared at her as she started talking.

Like who cared what her name was?

Why did she care what year he was in?

Connor stared at her some more, not caring one bit if he was being rude. He studied her before giving a brief nod. Yes, he was a first year. He then curled up on the seats, his face in the direction of the window so that from his position, he could see the sky.

Kolyander 12-17-2016 02:01 PM

Addison swung her feet back and forth to release some of the energy that had build up inside her. This was soooo exciting! The train had pulled away and they were on their way to Hogwarts! Today was the best day ever!

Bright eyes were watching the boy and she smiled at him. Friendly. That's what she was being. He'd joined her in this compartment so he wanted to make a friend, right? At least that's what she had figured but so far the boy was just staring at her. It took forever it seemed for the kid to even just nod his head in reply. He was a first year too! This was so great! Maybe they would be in the same house and he'd be her very first friend! Addi was wiggling with excitement waiting to hear the boys name.

Only she didn't get to find out. Instead he turned away to look out the window or something.

Hmpf. What was his problem? Didn't he want to make friends?

"Are you...alright?" the little blonde asked after being quiet for a few minutes. Maybe he was already homesick and missing his family?

FearlessLeader19 12-19-2016 02:52 AM

Connor had made it his point to keep on ignoring this girl… Addison she had said her name was. Yet he found his blue eyes occasionally darting towards her. He hoped that she didn’t see when he did that. He had absoloutely no interest in her or anyone else. Connor forced his eyes to remain staring out at the sky as he hoped this would discourage the girl from trying to make any further conversations.

That was not to be the case. “Do you always talk this much?’’ the boy asked, his eyes remaining fixated upon the outside. He outright ignored her question. His wellbeing was of no concern to her. He was being rude yet his tone of voice was soft. Because that was how he had been over the years. He had changed from that outgoing person ever since he moved in with his cousin.

The change suited him quite fine.

Kolyander 12-19-2016 07:34 PM

Addison wasn't used to completely downright rude people unless her brother counted. That was different though since Evan was older and family, he was supposed to be mean to her. Her gaze had shifted to look out the window, at her cat who was now on her lap and then back out the window by the time the boy finally answered. His reply had caught her a bit off-guard as she had only been trying to be nice. Didn't he know that? Clearly not.

Huffing quietly she rolled her blue eyes at him. "Yep. I talk all the time especially when rude people don't want me to," she commented grinning over at him. There was noway she was going to let this boy ruin her first Hogwarts train ride. "Maybe if you were a bit nicer or at least told me your name I'd leave you alone." Maybe. Probably not though. It all depended on him really. The meaner he was the more she'd annoy him that's how she did things.

FearlessLeader19 12-20-2016 10:21 PM

An eye roll. It was needless to say that Connor was highly amused. This girl had spunk and he was intrigued. Of course there was no way he was going to let her know that. Did she just call him rude? Oh yes she did. No one had ever had the guts to tell him that to his face, not even his cousin Mary. And an attitude was something he would usually give her.

"Being nice is for loosers,'' Connor stated. He was well aware of her upbeat attitude. "My name's for me to know and for you to find out, isn't it?'' Addison would know sooner or later what his name was because of the Sorting ceremony. It was unavoidable since his name would be called in front of the entire school.

Connor stared over at the girl still. Would she dare question him again?

Kolyander 12-21-2016 01:02 PM

If there was one thing Addison did was she called things as she saw them. If someone was rude she wasn't afraid to say so. If she didn't like someone she would admit it and back herself up with a reason for it as well. As of right now this boy was just rude but the eleven year old blonde could chalk it down to many reasons that the boy could be acting this way. Her biggest idea being that really he was just upset and lonely and didn't want to seem weak or girly so instead was acting stupid. Mhmm.

"Being nice is how you'll make friends. Hogwarts is huge and you're going to want at least one friend there to stand by you," she replied smartly shaking her head a little to move the hair that was falling into her eyes. "Keep acting like you are and you won't have any." She was going to have lots. How wouldn't want to be her friend? Just look at her. Smart, funny, cute, not RUDE.

A pair of small shoulders lifted in a shrug. "If you're going to be that way I think I'd rather not know."

FearlessLeader19 12-21-2016 06:40 PM

Friends? Who said he was going to Hogwarts to make friends? "I don't want nor need friends,'' Connor stated haughtily. "I'm going there only to get the best education so I can join the Ministry of Magic.'' That was his ambition and as he said it, his chest puffed out. He was a guy that happened to be rather proud of his dream. He'd make it to the Ministry and who knew, maybe one day he would be Minister.

Connor didn't care if anyone wanted to be his friend or not. He had been alone most of his life anyway. "You won't have a choice because when the Sorting Hat announces my name, the entire school will know,'' he added with a small smirk. "It's a name you'll remember for ages.''

He was sure about that.

Kolyander 12-22-2016 02:14 PM

Blink. Blink.

What did he just say? Addison shifted on her seat, bright blue eyes fixing on the boy across from her. Had he really just said he didn't want any friends? Everyone wanted friends! "You can't possibly mean that," she replied with a small shake of her head which sent her long blonde hair tumbling into her face and eyes. If his statement of not wanting/needing friends hadn't been enough he went and spoke about the ministry. That was where she wanted to end up someday! "What do you want to do in the ministry?" Maybe this would get him talking if it were something he was interested in?

This boy was clearly a stuck-up brat who thought very highly of himself. "You'd do well to continue allowing yourself to think that. Chances are with an attitude like yours you're name will be forgotten...quickly." It wasn't worth remembering when someone was mean and rude like he was.

FearlessLeader19 12-23-2016 03:18 PM

Connor could see that he surprised Addison with his remark. The reaction only served to make his smirk widen somewhat more. "I do. I don't find that I have any use to keep a friend around.'' Addison could probably figured out that he had never had friends. He usually just breezed through life like a regular kid. As for Connor, he thought that she might be placed into Hufflepuff or even Gryffindor. She was very friendly and her spunky attitude made her a good candidate for either House.

"I want to work in the Department of Mysteries.''
Connor didn't elaborate why he wanted to work there but the reason was because the department sounded exactly as its name suggested... mysterious. "Not if I become Minister for Magic. They won't forget it then.''

Kolyander 12-24-2016 01:22 PM

Was this boy crazy?! What exactly did he mean by 'he doesn't have any use to keep a friend around?' That made no sense. None. Addison stared at him yet again her confusion clear even as she tried her best to make it. "You keep friends because you have things in common or they make you happy...not because you can gain something from them." This kid sounded like her big brother. If he ended up being sorted into her house she was gonna scream. Seven years in the same house would never work, nope not ever!

This boy was going to do things to her head! Now he wanted to work in the Ministry when he was older. Not just in the Ministry but the level she wanted to be in! Addi slightly crinkled her nose as she looked him over very calculatingly. She wasn't going to comment on it though. Nope. However she was going to comment on that. The blonde laughed. Really truly laughed. "You? Minister for Magic." HAHA! "Nah-uh. No way, no how. People would have to be insane to make you Minister!" He was so mean and rude there wasn't anyway people would vote him.

FearlessLeader19 12-26-2016 01:51 AM

"I can enjoy things I like by myself,'' Connor said. He sat up now, tired of lying back. He studied Addison as she stared at him. "What's the point of keeping them around if they're not going to be of any use to you?'' Really, that made no sense at all. At least not to him it didn't. Then again, since he didn't need any, he would just pretend to be someone's friend to use them to get where he wanted to be. Now that made a lot more sense.

Addison was laughing at him. Connor narrowed his eyes at her. "I can just as well fake being a good and friendly person. It would be easy to fool all the naive persons especially.'' Acting was something he could do quite well of he did say so himself.

He lapsed into silence for a long while then... "Are we almost to the Castle?'' The boy didn't have a clue as to how long the journey lasted.

Kolyander 12-26-2016 01:54 PM

Bor-ing! Enjoy things by himself. Yup, definitely boring. Where was the fun in doing everything alone? Sure Addi could understand that not everyone liked the same things and sometimes you just wanted to do things by yourself but not ALWAYS. She shook her head again voicing her opinion, "that sounds completely boring." Either this kid was completely lying to her or he hadn't the faintest clue about what being a friend really meant. "To talk with. To do things you like with. So you're not lonely. Having friends is amazing." Someday he'd realize what all he was missing out on.

"You're not going to fool me," the eleven year old stated evenly. She could already see him for the rude boy that he truly was.

Addison's attention turned to watch the scenery fly by outside of the compartment window when the boy had fallen quiet again. This time his silence wasn't a big deal. She had gotten him to talk even if he was a jerk. On his own too with her even saying anything. Small shoulders lifted into a shrug. "I doubt it. The ride is pretty long. My brother once told me that we won't be there until nearly dusk." A good seven or so hours.

FearlessLeader19 12-27-2016 01:15 AM

Connor shrugged. "It's not to me.'' Why was he talking so much to this girl, anyway? He never talked much with anyone. Maybe he just wanted to brag. "No thanks. Life's good without having to have anyone to depend on anyone for my happiness.'' He had learnt that from since a very long time ago.

The boy shrugged again, leaning back casually against his seat. "You're just one person. I can convince everyone else. Besides, I hope we won't be seeing each other after Hogwarts.''

Connor's face fell. "That's a long time. It's going to be such a boring ride.'' That nap was looking very good again. It would help him past the time without any hitch. "I should have brought something to occupy my time,'' he muttered.

Kolyander 12-28-2016 12:50 PM

Addison shrugged her shoulders. "Do as you please then." Someday when he was bored and lonely and finally realized the value of friendship he'd back. She knew he would be. Maybe if he was lucky, she'd be there to accept it.

Swinging her feet back and forth a little since she was just a tad to short to reach the floor Addi laughed. "Not gonna happen if you give others the same attitude you've been giving me." Oh, so he hoped he didn't have to see her much? What was he suddenly a mind-reader? "That's highly unlikely as chances are you'll see me in the Great Hall for meals as well in some lessons." Her brother and parents had told her how the houses were in lessons together.

Whether or not he thought the ride was boring she didn't care. Just another reason as to why having friends was a good thing. Still petting Cole she turned her blue eyes towards the window speaking without looking at him, "Stinks to be you then. I'm sure if you get creative you can come up with something."

FearlessLeader19 12-29-2016 04:37 PM

Connor smirked broadly. Of course he would be doing as he pleased. He was Connor Anders, his own person. "I've got a pan to cover that, don't you worry about that, little Addison.'' Actually, he had no plan at all. The only thing he could think to do was pretend to be nice and the thought alone made him cringe.

"Pity, isn't it?I hope at least we'll be in different Houses. Then I won't have to see you out of classes or at meal times.'' Connor stretched then laid back so that his body was across the seats. "Maybe I'll take a nap. Wake me up when we get there if I don't, will you?''

Kolyander 12-29-2016 05:23 PM

Ugh, that smirk. How she was already beginning to dislike it. That and that grin and attitude of his. Hardly on the train an hour and this boy was annoying her nearly as much as her older brother does. A plan. Him. Addison couldn't help but laugh at this. The laughter quickly died and was quickly replaced with a frown. "Don't call me little. You're a firstie too." She hated when Evan called her little and hearing it from someone her own age only made it bother her more.

"With any luck you're House will be very far away from mine. The less I see of you, the better," she stated flatly rolling her eyes at him. Blue eyes turned fully then onto the ball of fluff which was her cat that had once again stretched out on the seats taking up nearly the entire space. A small smile was given at the cuteness of it. Addi shifted to have her back against the window, feet pulled up onto the seat. "Why should I? Such a smart boy such as yourself can surely find a way of getting himself up when he needs to be." There was noway she'd wake him up after how he was acting towards her.

This boy better learn fast who was the smarter one when it came to the two of them. Helping him was not gonna happen.

FearlessLeader19 01-01-2017 02:13 AM

Connor shrugged. He couldn't care less of what Addison wantes or not. "Yes but I'm not as short or skinny as you are.'' He was all words but really, the boy shouldn't even be talking about height and weight. He wasn't that far off from Addison as he was only both slightly taller and had a little more size.

"I'm pleased to hear the feeling is mutual, Addison. I hope to be in the dungeons far away from all the other Houses.'' Especially her House, whichever it would be. Connor's eyes moved to the kitty too but his expression towards it did not change as he gave it a cold look. Pets. Why did anyone ever need them?

"Fine. I'll wake on my own. I don't need your help now anyway.'' And with that, he focused on the ceiling directly above him. He just needed a power nap; twenty minutes tops. He'd drift off soon...

Kolyander 01-01-2017 01:52 PM

Addison rolled her eyes at him. He wasn't as short or skinny as she was? "Uh, yes you are. If you don't think so you really need to open both your eyes and take another look." The two of them were practically the same exact height. Maybe he was just a hair or so taller then her but he was a boy so it was supposed to be that way. In other words he had no bragging rights when it came to this.

Ha! The dungeons were exactly where he belonged and the look on little Addi's face was all to clear in her agreement with that statement. With any luck at all she'd be up in one of the towers on the seventh floor and he'd be stuck down in the deep dark, dank, cold dungeons with her older brother. The boys look at her cat only made her move one of her legs to stretch out along the bench in front of the feline. She didn't like the way he was eyeing her fur baby.

"Good," the blonde stated evenly with an uncaring shrug of her shoulders. Just let him sleep the entire train ride and things would be just fine...

FearlessLeader19 01-02-2017 03:31 AM

Connor shrugged. Okay so he had indeed noticed that they were practically the same height but still, he was teeny bit taller. That counted as something in his mind so he didn't care what Addison thought. "No thanks. I already know I'm taller.'' He yawned. Yeah, that nap sounded so good right about now. He had been up early that morning to ensure his room had been cleaned out properly. Mary had told him that if he hadn't done it, she'd see to it that he didn't get to stay with her. Seeing that Connor needed his stupid cousin only because he needed a place to stay (until her turned seventeen at least), he had done as she wished.

With a snort at Addison's reaction to seemingly protect the cat, Connor said, "I won't hurt it. I'm not that bad.'' He wasn't mean to animals even though he didn't understand why they were needed. The boy put his hands behind his head just before falling asleep.

Now he needn't bother with Addison or the cat.

Kolyander 01-02-2017 01:22 PM

Who really cared who was taller. It wasn't even all that much of a big deal. In Addi's mind boys were supposed to be taller then the girls. At least that's how it was with her parents. Her dad was taller then her mom and a little bit older then her as well. The same went for her brother and his best friend, both of them were taller and older then all their friends that were female. Shrugging her shoulders she chose to not even answer opting to pet her cat instead.

"Maybe it's not my cat I'm trying to protect," she replied with a sweet little smirk. Cole was very much capable of handling himself. Most of the time he was a calm lazy cat but he did have a very strong feisty side and liked to scratch and/or bite people if he felt like it. Sometimes for no real reason.

The silence that seemed to fall over the compartment remained that way for several minutes before Addi glanced over at him. Seeing that he appeared asleep she went about reading one of her books for awhile before going to get a snack at the cart. To pass more time she changed into her uniform and then upon returning she read some more and got teased by her brother and several of his friends when they found her. However now she was sitting against the window, Cole on her lap, face pressed to the glass as she watched the train nearing it's arrival. They'd be there really soon. Any minute in fact from what it seemed.

She couldn't wait!

FearlessLeader19 01-04-2017 03:39 PM

Connor drifted off into a hearty and rather comfortable sleep. He didn't even hear any of Addi's movements around the compartment nor when she had visitors. He was that tired. His dreams were plagued with images of his cousin shouting at him as she made him clean the kitchen. "I'm scrubbing as fast as I can,'' he muttered and flipped over on his side. Stupid Mary!

He had no idea that they were nearing the Hogsmeade's station. All he wanted to do right now was to continue sleeping and this is exactly what he continued to do. He even gave a tiny snore. Connor Anders was content in life right now.
