A Lion and a Badger

Benadi...

Two best friends, first real close during school and now inseparable as they start the rest of their lives together.
Benjamin Atreyu and Aditya Rehman are now on their own outside the normalcy and safety of the walls of Hogwarts.
Wizarding University and the great wide world await the boyfriends as they explore what its like to really be adults in the wizarding and muggle worlds.

Locations
Benadi Apartment: Two bedroom apartment in the outskirts of Edinburgh. Their first very own home close to school.

Cassiopeia's Cafe: A friendly cafe owned by Benny's mother

Rehman House: The childhood home of Adi, home of Saieed and Indira Rehman

Wizarding University: Edinburgh Campus of the school, where Benny and Adi take classes towards their degrees.

Scene 1 : Cassiopeia's Cafe

Ben's mom's cafe was chosen as the location for the ritual meeting of the families. Aka the first full Atreyu-Rehman get-together. The one where the boys tell their loved ones the truth about their relationship and see just how they react.

Okay, so Guster and Conrad were off on Mission: Exploration, so that left him an Benny free to continue their tasks at hand. "What? Just exactly how many Hippogriffs have you been carrying around?'' Cue Adi making a confused face. He was, as usual, joking around. The only Griff Benny ever carried was him which came in the form of piggybacks, something that had started a few years ago.

Adi nodded enthusiastically at the suggestion. "Alrightey! Here I go!'' His wand was pointed at the closest chair. ''Colovaria!'' The Colour Changing charm was cast silently, instantly adding bright orange to it. ''Colovaria! Colovaria!'' Annnnnd repeat on other chairs! "How's this so far, Benny?'' More orange? Less orange? Which was it, Dragon?

"Only one of course," Benny said, giving his boyfriend a poke for his teasing as he stepped out of the way to let Adi do the work. He may love creatures but he wasn't exactly the type to randomly carry around large magical creatures for pleasure. Adi and Adi alone was his burden to bear and it wasn't much of a burden lately.

Here he went.

He paid attention to those words as it was the only warning, besides the wand movement, that anything was happening. Adi really was into using wandless magic, and really good at it. First one, and then another and then another of the chairs went orange and it didn't look all that bad. Maybe because it wasn't a bright, bright orangey color. "How about round it out with an orange cushion for the coffee table and we'll be good."

Adi laughed at the poke. Some of his own habits had definitely rubbed off on Benny, poking being one of them. "Just checking,'' he continued in a teasing tone. Pffft. As if he needed any reassurances from Benny. He hadn't struggled with his insecurity since they had started dating.

Woot!

It seemed as though the boyfriend agreed with his work. Adi eyed the coffee table's cushion. "Sure. One more orange piece coming up!'' The Hippogriff feather core wand was pointed at the cushion. ''Colovaria!'' Wheee! The colour changed to orange! "How's that?'' While he had been asking the question, Adi had slipped towards the chairs closest to him. He tossed his wand onto the couch, snagged two cushions from the chairs then tossed them at his boyfriend before ducking out of sight behind a random piece of furniture.

Playful Adi was in the house... er... apartment!

Yeah, sure. "If you say so..." he playfully remarked. Adi was lucky that Benny knew he wasn't insecure anymore and that was jest not jealousy sent his way. But then there were obviously more important things to focus on...like hos boyfriend's pleasure that he had given him permission to add even more of his favorite color into their joint living space. The excitement in the former Hufflepuff was barely contained.

Benny watched as the piece turned a burnished orange much like the other pieces of furniture. "Looks goo--" he goes to comment, breaking off as first one and then another pillow hits against him and he freezes in shock for a moment before looking quickly around to see where Adi was. "Someone is going to get it," he mused, picking up one of the fallen pillows as he circles around, ready to strike should he figure out where he was.

Come out...come out...whereever you are.

Adi fought to remain silent at Benny's 'Someone is going to get it' statement but truth be told, he wanted to laugh because this was all so fun! He was like a kid in an adult's body right now. Hehe.

He raised his head slightly to peek over the furniture to catch a glimpse of his bestie/ boyfriend. Adi saw him circling, looking for him. Smirking, he ducked out of sight again to quietly make his way over to the couch where he snagged another cushion. Heads up, Benny! He raised himself again, took aim then let the cushion fly. Before he ducked out of sight, he grabbed his wand from the couch. It might come in handy.

This…this was proof right there.

They may be adults now and out of Hogwarts. And on their own. But they weren’t totally grown up. There was still playfulness and fun and hopefully there always would be. Benny listened for sounds but it appeared that Adi was being good and not giving away any clues and sounds making it harder for him. Not even a muffled chuckle of laughter escaped for him to hear.

His back was towards the couch when his boyfriend appeared behind it, tossing another pillow at him and causing him to spin around. “Nice…” Benny mused with a chuckle and went to move after him, but Adi had already ducked down again as he made his way around the coffee table and back to the couch. No one around there yet the dragon headed to his left where he thought he had gone.

Nuh uh.

The Dragon would definitely not find his Hippogriff behind the couch when he got there because said Hippogriff had already scooted away. Now that Adi had his wand clenched in his hand, he wanted to do some mischief. Well, a prank really. Seriously… this habit of his was not about to die out any time soon.

Peeking around a chair now, Adi had a very clear view of the boyfriend. Perfect! He took aim with his wand to silently throw one of his favourite spells to use on him- the Antler spell. Hehe. Would it be too much cast Cantis as well? Maybe it was. So just the antler spell for now it was!

Adi waited to see if his spell would hit and if it did, how long it would take Benny to notice that he now had antlers atop his head. He doubted it would take a long time. Antlers carried a healthy amount of weight, right?

One of the downfalls of having a boyfriend proficient in wordless magic was getting caught in stuff without warning. Especially with a boyfriend like Adi who liked to play pranks on him of all people. It took him a minute to notice the change in his hair but when making a sharp move, the antlers clearly made themselves felt. Benny paused and raised his hands up to feel and confirm his new headgear. Yep...antlers.

"Guess lab rat is going to be a stag today."

And now he was reaching for his own wand...two could play that game.

"Come out...and play," he mused, debating a spell to cast before finally settling on a homing spell. Adi can just trying to evade that spell which revealed to him where his boyfriend was indeed was and he approached his hiding place quietly with a smirk.

Adi clamped his free hand oover his mouth to stop a snigger from escaping when he saw that the antler spell had found its mark. Man, this was too hilarious! Should he cast Cantis now? That would make his boyfriend Benny the Singing Stag.

Speaking of a stag...

Haha! Yeah! Benny had that right! He was no lab rat right now. Adi almost threw a reply but caught himself in the nick of time. And nope! He was NOT coming out to play. Not until he had some more fun. But noooooo, this was not to be as he had hoped. Benny found him! Too late Adi had heard the incantation being said and before he had so much as a chance to move, he was found!

"Drat! You found me!'' And before Benny could react any further... ''Cantis!''

The stag man came to stop before his boyfriend's hiding perch, his wand lowering back more to his side. It appeared Adi was giving up....for now and Benny mistakingly let down his guard. "Uh huh...I di---" His normal speaking voice suddenly broke off, replaced almost imediately by a baritone singing voice causing his eyes to go wide in surprise as he sang against his will.

"I don't ever wanna let you down...I don't ever wanna..."

Benny managed to clamp a hand over his mouth which stopped him for a little bit. That dratted spell! He let out a breath of relief, but the urge to let it out grew strong once more as the magic held. And so the hands slowly dropped as words started to escape.

"It's time to begin, isn't it?
I get a little bit bigger but then I'll admit
I'm just the same as I was
Now don't you understand
That I'm never changing who I am..."

WOOT!

Of course Benny never saw nor heard the spell coming his way so Adi had that working in his favour. All the laughter he had been holding in finally burst out of him when Benny sang the first line of a very familiar song.

"Only... you would randomly hahahaha... chose a song by a band...heheee... with the word 'Dragon' in their name.'' And then Benny started singing again after a brief pause. Excuse Adi while he leaned back on the palms of his hands, his head thrown back slightly as he laughed heartily again.

Man! He loved this spell!

Alright so he was singing, AND bright as a tomato. Benny was caught in the feels. It wasn't as if he was a bad singer, which he wasn't, it just wasn't a favorite pastime of his. And Adi had always been trying to get him to sing. Both with or withour words. The hippogriff's luck was holding today as the antlered boyfriend continued to belt out the tune he had picked randomly from his knowledge.

"I don't ever wanna let you down
I don't ever wanna leave this town
'Cause after all
This city never sleeps at night"

With an inward sigh, he collapsed down into a chair to ride out the song. It wasn't like he could do anything until the spell wore out or Adi broke it. He did shoot looks at his laughing boyfriend. He had to be truly enjoying this...performance for him. And HE was the one who introduced him to 'the band with dragons in their name.'

"It's time to begin, isn't it?

Great Hippogriffs!

The boyfriend was red as ever! Adi thought he looked cute and handsome as always. It wasn't often he got Benny to sing like this so any opportunity would be taken. Mhmm. He moved his wand about, pretending to be a conductor at a concert or something. He even mouthed along to the lyrics of the once popular song.

At the looks sent his way, Adi wiggled his brows playfully. After the last line was sung, he grinned. "I think I've tortured you enough.'' Cue him silently lifting the spell. "There! No more singing... for now.'' He got to his feet to head over to Benny. "Your singing's improved though,'' he said with a smirk and poked the Dragon's 'snout'.

Benny couldn't help but roll his eyes as Adi started mock-conducting him while he sang. It was an inside joke between them how the boyfriend could get him to do stuff with or without magic. Eat it up for now...Griff Boy. You and your crazy brows. As for tormenting, he might have remarked, had his mouth not be occupied. But as Adi continued, he found said mouth free, the spell obviously lifted to go alone with his finishing.

" If you say so, " Benny said, wrinkling his nose as his 'snout' was poked. He then took the opportunity of closeness toga the boyfriend onto the couch with him. " Now I have caught you."

The eye roll had amused Adi even more. It was nice to see that he could still surprise Benny even without trying much. He supposed it had to do a great deal with his non verbal spell casting abilities since it gave him the advantage of tossing spells unexpectedly though he would credit his brain for coming up with the brilliant ideas too. Hehe.

Adi laughed at the relief on Benny's face as well as the wrinkling of his nose. But then he suddenly found himself sitting on the couch, having been pulled onto it. "So you have.'' He faked a sulky look. "Hippogriff doesn't like being caught.'' Pffft. Riiiiight. That was such a big joke there.

"You've surely caught my playfulness,'' he continued with a smirk, reaching to brush a strand of blond hair from his boyfriend's face. "But we really should finish up adding those colours and other charms, right?'' Mhmmm. Said charms were important.

Benny struggled to keep from laughing as Adi sat beside him giving him a pout. "Of course he doesn't," he mused with a small smirk. He knew very well that his boyfriend liked very much when he managed to give as good as he got. And catching him was one of those things he would actually do to his companion, especially when they were on their own.

"Well something had to rub off," he added, smiling softly at the brush of hair from his face. He then nodded at the suggestion offered about continuing on with what they had been doing. Okay...fun time was over...for now. " I suppose we should," he agreed releasing Adi and fingering his wand and looking around to see what should be next.

"Sound barrier and charmed windows for the living room...right?" Benny double checked, moving back to his feet.

Benny wanted to laugh, didn't he? Adi could see it plus his instinct told him as much because he knew his boyfriend that well. "You can laugh, you know. I know I can be funny.'' Hehe. The guy did like hearing Benny laugh, anyway. He stuck out his tongue, still playful as ever but then smiled back.

Just because Adi had suggested they get back to doing their spell work, it didn't mean that he wanted to especially when Benny had a hold on him. He pouted again as Benny got to his feet but then followed. "Those spells,'' he confirmed happily with a nod. "I've got the charms for the windows if that's okay with you.''

Oh he wanted him to laugh? Not at the moment. “Oh, I’m well aware of my ability to laugh…especially at you,” Benny remarked with amusement in his voice. He finally let it out as Adi stuck his tongue out at him being playful. “And you know full well you have to be careful with that tongue,” he mused in his own tone of jest.

Again he chuckled and shook his head as his boyfriend pouted once more. But they both knew the sooner they got things settled, the sooner they could both relax and enjoy their new place in earnest so the work led to better things. “Fine by me,” Benny said, agreeing to the terms, as he walked towards the exterior-most walls of the living room to begin his own work. Both sets of spells allowing some privacy and less concern about dealing with the passing muggle.

Of course Benny liked to laugh at him. Adi could be super duper hilarious. AHA! There went the laugh! He grinned but then sniggered at the remark about his tongue. As a reply, he stuck it out again teasingly. Care to catch it later, dragon?

Alrightey, so Benny was okay with his suggestion. With the boyfriend already getting started, Adi followed, moving from window after silently casting a spell at each one in view. Gosh, thet had a lot to do! These spells needed to be repeated for the entire apartment.

"I think I'm all done here, Benny,'' he said after a while. "Where to next?"

He raised his eyebrow as the tongue came out again in mockery, the lion making note to get back at it and Adi later on. Maybe he’d make his boyfriend sing in exchange, the cheeky boy and his tongue practically daring him to. But then there would be plenty enough time for that. Now was the time for soundproofing and the other precautions and soon enough his part of the work was complete. With Adi coming to a stop a short time after.

“Me too…” he said, slipping his wand back into his pocket since it wasn’t necessary for the moment anymore. “How about the dining area…and unpacking some books?” he suggested, the bookcases in the living area straddling both rooms just like the windows did. And getting rid of some of the boxes they had brought up would clear some space.

If Adi had even a tiiiiny bit of idea of what Benny was thinking, he would have just suggested that they not bother doing any spell work or anything else right about now. But too bad... he could not do Legilimency.

"You and your books,'' Adi teased. "Alright. So, how about... I do the dining area and you get the books sorted out?'' He looked around their apartment. Yep, the sooner they got stuff in place, the better. The couple had quite a bit of stuff altogether and who was to say that they hadn't forgetten a few other things? His attention was back on Benny. "We could get things done faster that way.''

Benny chuckled. “Yes me and my books,” he echoed, answering Adi’s tease. “I told you, we don’t know what’ll be useful for classes,” he defended. Granted they had left the more simplistic and easy books elsewhere, but the higher levels came with them for reference access. Perhaps it would mean one less visit to the library one night, or one less request for a tome to be sent from home.

He listened as Adi went on to divide the tasks between them, nodding in acceptance. How did he know his boyfriend was going to foster that ask on himself. “Sounds like a plan,” Benny mused, “just don’t go overboard with your favorite color,” he teased, reminding him of the deal they had made earlier on mixing their colors and design tastes. This was THEIR apartment and would reflect them both. That wasn’t to say he couldn’t change anything anyway.

But for now…he was tackling those boxes.

"I know, I know.'' Adi grinned. "You'll be my personal library. I also know that you can't part with them.'' This boyfriend of his had Ravenclaw traits too so it was quite natural for him to want to be surrounded by books again. Besides, it was a good thing Benny had brought them. Who knew when they would come in handy for when they needed to do a quick research on something.

Adi laughed mysteriously. "I can't promise anything,'' he said mischievously. "You'll just have to wait and see.'' With another familiar habit of his- sticking his tongue out- he took off for the dining room. Time to get started on repeating those spells again! And of course he wasn't going to go overboard with the orange. No worries, Benny!

Well he could part with them.

But to be honest Benny had also felt they gave a nice homely touch to the apartment. It wasn’t like they were going to be duplicating their family homes or their respective common rooms. Red and gold would only mix with the orange and yellow to make the place look completely on fire. So the books, he was setting in some sort of order on the bookshelves, were a simple connection to the past. Besides the trunks that were currently dumped in the spare bedroom with other memorabilia.

He raised an eyebrow at the laughing and the mischievous tone Adi had taken in response to his comment about the dining room. It could be taken so many ways and Benny had to force his attention to return back to his own work instead of following after his boyfriend and flat mate. He would just have to trust his companion’s judgement and do just as he said. Wait…and see.

Perhaps consider it a test.

Leaving Benny to do his sorting and packing, Adi happily bounded towards the dining room. He stood still for a few seconds (because it was highly impossible for the hyper boy... young man... to do that any longer) as he tried to determine which part needed the orange.

Making up his mind, he got to work with casting the spell. Soon the room had some satisfactory amount of orange. "Don't think Benny would mind this,'' he mused out loud. Adi then set about casting the other spells he and Benny had used earlier. There! All done!

Feeling accomplished, he headed back to Benny. "You don't want to go in there, lover boy,'' he said leaning against a wall with a shoulder and folding his hands across his chest while looking serious. "It's so orange, it'll be like walking into a furnace.'' Hehe. Him and his jokes...
