A Lion and a Badger

Benadi...

Two best friends, first real close during school and now inseparable as they start the rest of their lives together.
Benjamin Atreyu and Aditya Rehman are now on their own outside the normalcy and safety of the walls of Hogwarts.
Wizarding University and the great wide world await the boyfriends as they explore what its like to really be adults in the wizarding and muggle worlds.

Locations
Benadi Apartment: Two bedroom apartment in the outskirts of Edinburgh. Their first very own home close to school.

Cassiopeia's Cafe: A friendly cafe owned by Benny's mother

Rehman House: The childhood home of Adi, home of Saieed and Indira Rehman

Wizarding University: Edinburgh Campus of the school, where Benny and Adi take classes towards their degrees.

Scene 1 : Cassiopeia's Cafe

Ben's mom's cafe was chosen as the location for the ritual meeting of the families. Aka the first full Atreyu-Rehman get-together. The one where the boys tell their loved ones the truth about their relationship and see just how they react.

Benny nodded himself, registering his words actually held two means, both he meant in the long run so all was good. They were each other’s one and only, well until they decided to expand upon their family. He couldn’t help chuckle at the threat Adi reminded him of. “Good thing most people know better than to get between a hippogriff and his dragon.” Merlin help them for sure. And they had more than being devoured to worry about if he had anything to say about it.

Hey look…there was his handsome badger with his smart-looking glasses! Benny shrugged at the question. “Well I was told at least.” And he tended to need to go along with what other people saw him as for he didn’t think of himself really as adorable, unless he was currently a cute furry animal, or really handsome as Adi and she who must not be named referred to him as.

“Maybe…maybe not,” he remarked as Adi shuffled closer, smiling at the three words. Simple that poignant. “But I never tire from hearing it.” And he never would. It was like a life jacket during the ups and downs of life like the stresses of school.

“I love you too.”

That was true but some... they just didn't give up. Sure, Adi got his fair share of persons flirting with him but whenever anyone flirted with Benny, he'd go all huffy at first then he'd remind himself that there was no chance that they'd have a shot with the boyfriend. And that was what would cheer him up. "Some of them are too bold for their own good.'' Again... hmph!

"Well, you're cute, handsome and all the other nice things, okay?'' Adi leaned in to kiss Benny's cheek. Seriously... Benny ought to know that by now. He smiled. Like Benny, he'd never get tired of hearing those three words. "So, any other potion you need help with, babe? I promise this time I'll really help you.'' As in there would be no teasing.

Benny found himself rather amused by Adi's clear reaction to what he had said. "Aww someone's jealous," he said, his turn to tease him and give him a hard time in return. Even if it was true about the others. He just couldn't understand why other people , both girls and guys once they figured out he might swing that way, could even bother to try for his attention when he was absolutely certain Adi was the only one for him.

"They are all wasting their time, all blah blah blah to my ears." The most reaction they might get out of him was the awkward, occasional blushing he still got from certain things. Such as Adi's complimentary words as he leaned in to kiss his cheek. His skin taking on a wild reddish tint without his permission. Not that it ever felt it needed to have such permission. He then nodded in agreement to the badger's question.

As for any more potions work, aside from Benny picking up a quill to change the measurements to the correct ones anywhere it was actually written he had nothing. "Nope...that was the only thing I couldn't get to work right for me actually." Years and years of Adi helping him with the subject and drumming stuff into him, did have some good purpose out of it after all.

"Not jealous. Just... annoyed.'' It was true. Adi didn't get jealous. It was always insecurity but since he was over that, annoyed was the perfect word. "It's easy to see why they'd want to get your attention-'' because let's face it. The boyfriend was such a looker. That and coupled with the fact that that Benny was... well, Benny. You know, understanding, sweet and all the other good things... only meant that he'd be perfect to date. "Some of them would hint at you and I'm right there.''

Not that he didn't get his fair share of flirting with but gosh, LEAVE HIS BENNY ALONE.

"I know. You're as loyal as a Hufflepuff,'' Adi teased then laughed lightly at the redness on Benny's face. He liked that a lot, by the way. That blushing... Just let him admire the dragon. Hehe. "Yeah, university work could be done anytime.'' Mhmm, Adi was distracted by the blushing.

Benny nodded as Adi remarked on the mention of jealousy. “I stand corrected,” he mused, listening to his boyfriend’s feelings on the matter. “If I could get them to stop…I would,” the dragon assured his other half. It wasn’t like he encouraged the flirting or attention. If anything he too preferred to be rid of it. He had eyes for one person and one person alone…the badger currently sitting beside him practically pouting at the thought of others throwing themselves at him.

Loyal as a Hufflepuff... yeah, that was him.

The him that only managed to blush more when Adi laughed at the reaction. His gaze lowered as he tried to recover some sense of decorum to his skin. “Yes for now…nothing else pressing to do at the moment,” he agreed, retrieving the rest of his sandwich, a reward for finishing he supposed.

Yes! He knew that Benny would stop it all if he could. That only made him think of something. "Did I make that sound as though it were your fault, babe? I didn't mean to.'' He was now opening up about what he was thinking because he had only recently started to get annoyed by all the one sided flirts. It was all THOSE PERSONS fault. Cue more pouting!

A blushing Benny was on of the boyfriend's cutest sides. Adi just loved it! And he loves teasing Benny about it. Still laughing, he watched the bestie eat. "Would you like some sour patch kiddies to go with that?'' Because Adi had quite a few of those stashed away, the same habit he had from since they were both studying at Hogwarts.

Benny was quick to shake his head to the negative when Adi appeared to feel the need to be apologetic. “You didn’t,” he remarked truthfully. “I just wanted to make sure you knew that I can be equally bothered by it.” Even if he was trying to be polite when it happened instead of rudely pushing them away. They were in that together. Yet Adi was still pouting and he debated kissing the pout away as much as he looked cute like that. The exact opposite of his playful joking prankster mode.

He was trying not to pay attention to his laughing boyfriend as he ate but three little words other than I love you caught the dragon’s attention. His downfall in the sweets department when he otherwise left the sweet tooth to Adi. “May--be…” was all he said after swallowing his latest bite of his sandwich. The hippogriff could take that as he willed.

Awesome! It hadn't come across as though he were blaming Benny. He would never do that because his boyfriend was always super caring. "I know you are. I see it on your face. That cute, uncomfortable look you get.'' Hehe. Adi could never resist teasing Benny. "Next time I'll just tell them to go away. Just like that.'' He pulled on a fierce-ish look. "Go away. Benny's already taken.'' Mhmm...

"Maybe? Then maaaybe I'll give them to you!'' Adi had gotten them stashed in the kitchen but not somewhere where they can easily be found. "You'll have to sniff them out, dragon!'' Or he could easily Summon them

Yeah, that cute uncomfortable look he gave. Like that could ever be considered cute but apparently Adi thought as much. Just like his blushing was adorable and his singing was enjoyable. Maybe he was his own worst critic or else the other man was just the type of boyfriend, and best friend before, who found goodness in everything. Well everything besides the jealousy both of them had had towards the other at one point or another in their relationship.

That had been far from cure, adorable or enjoyable.

“You do that.”

So Adi had decided to give them freely to him one moment, but then turned it around so that he had to find them for himself the next. “Oh really?” Benny mused as he finished up his food. That might be a challenge since it wasn’t like the sour candies gave off much of a smell. But they did give off some sort of smell. He remembered that he was able to trail them when in dragon form, but the former Gryffindor doubted he was going to make it easier now that he had issued the challenge. But then, his dragon form wasn’t the only tool in his arsenal. No sir.

"Challenge accepted..." With the smooth movements of a cat, Benny slipped from a human sitting up on his rump to a canine on all fours before jumping down onto the floor. His nose already twitching as if trying to catch a scent but also looking to Adi for any sort of clues the boyfriend might be willing to give.

"I will.'' Adi was dead serious. He didn't feel sorry for the next person that flirted with Benny. Such a savage look they would get from him that they'd think twice before looking at the boyfriend again

Anywaaay, Benny was obviously intrigued in finding the sour patch kids. Of course he was.

"Good luck finding the-'' Oh darn! He had totally forgotten that Benny could just use his Animagus form! Cue the slap to his own forehead! "Hey! That's no fair!'' Adi laughed and jumped to his feet. "Fine. You'll have to find them on your own since you've got that nose!'' Hehe.

His gaze on Adi as he broke off, Doggie Benny couldn’t help tilting his furry head in confusion as he slapped his own head. What was that? Had the dear boyfriend completely forgotten that he had that ability to improve his senses, especially that of smell? Seemed surprising but perhaps he had been distracted by other things like the type he claimed Benny to be. Whatever the case, he let out a bark in canine laughter as the topic of fairness was put into play. The badger letting out his own round of laughter.

Benny resumed his sniffing around, trailing around the coffee table to the other side of the living room. However, his other half had his attention once more when Adi mentioned leaving him on his own to find the treats. It wasn’t impossible, sure, but it would take forever to search everywhere in the apartment for them…if they were in fact there any way. Cue the puppy dog eyes aimed at the other man, having to bit back the urge to whimper to add to the helpless effect.

Benny was laughing at him. That bark he let out was not fooling Adi. The Hufflepuff knew Benny all too well to be able to tell the type of bark that had been let out. "I'll be the one laughing when your nose doesn't sniff out those kiddies.'' He playfully stuck his tongue out then went on to watch the doggie hunt.

A dog's nose, he knew, was so keen that sometimes it could take a while for it to pick up a particular scent. And this would explain why Benny was having no such luck. Adi had made up his mind to not help but how could he resit those cute and literal doggie eyes staring at him?

It was impossible!

"Not going to help. Nope!'' He succeeded in looking away for about three seconds before glancing back at the boyfriend. Annnnd he caved. Darn those eyes! "They're somewhere in that direction.'' Adi nodded towards the kitchen.

So Adi knew he was laughing, eh? It wasn’t like it was too hard to guess or figure out by all the experience they had had with each other especially with his time as a dog. As for the tongue, two could play at that game, Mr. Badger. Benny letting his tongue lull out of his mouth as he panted in breath. But he would find them…he wasn’t going to give up or let his doggy self let his human self down. Those Sour Patch Kids would be his.

He just had to melt Adi’s resistance.

Which didn’t take TOO long in the grand scheme of things. Thank you puppy dog eyes. Now he let out a happy bark as Adi caved, trotting off in the direction of the kitchen where the boyfriend had pointed towards. His nose wiggling as he tried to pick up the scent almost as much as his tail was wagging along behind him.

Sniff…sniff…sniff.

Sniff...sniff…sniff.

Benny made an adorable doggie as he did a dragon. But was there any animal that he didn't look good as? Maybe it was Adi's love for both the boyfriend and animals in general that made him think this. Yup! That would surely be it!

Chuckling at the lolling tongue and the fact that he have outright caved thanks to those eyes, Adi followed Benny. That nose should help him find the kids but it might be somewhat difficult with all food they usually kept stashed in the kitchen.

Adi leaned casually against the kitchen doorway as he watched in amusement as Benny sniffed.

Adi’s help my have narrowed down things but that didn’t mean he was able to just zoom to the place the candies were found. That may been more of the case if his other half had chosen to hide his stash in, say the bedroom…or the living room…or even the bathroom. But then it would have been much easier to find or stumble upon and where would the fun be in that. Fun for the badger at least. While he sniffed around still trying to catch a whiff of the right scent.

Nope…not there.

It had been a misdirection of smells. There was a lot to smell around the place. How did really animals ever pick one out of the over abundance of smells in any one area? The kitchen of their apartment was no different than out of doors…even Adi had a scent that hit his doggy nose as he followed Benny into the room. Must…not…be…distracted. His head shifted to the other side as he tried to track another scent. Sniff…sniff. There was something…different there. Sweet, but not too sweet. He moved closer in hopes the stronger the scent, the higher the probability of deciphering if it was the right smell.

Was it? Sniff...sniff.

Adi was so highly amused.

He was still leaning against the kitchen's doorway, watching the boyfriend sniff around. He was still determined not to offer anymore clues even if Benny decided to show him those puppy eyes again. He was going to resist this time around. Yep! "Nope! That's too cold!'' Okay maybe a little more help for Benny wouldn't hurt.

If the canine just locked in on the cupboards, he would have the kiddies. A huge pile were hidden behind cereal and other assortment of food stuff. "You're getting warmer now though!'' Mhmm! No doubt Benny would soon locate those Sour Patch Kids.

Nope! That's too cold

Now that was another clue to Benny if ever he heard it, the tone leaning the lion to thinking it was more serious than a joke to set him up. TOO cold meant he was going in the wrong direction for sure and what he had picked up with his doggy nose was not the kiddies in reality. Ugg…maybe he would have had more luck as a human ticking Adi until he gave in to telling him where they were or just give them to him. He turned away in another direction that where he had been going to get back to being “warm and warmer.”

Sniff…sniff…sniff.

Was he getting there?

Now that smell smelt more familiar and closer to what he was looking for his wet nose pressed up against the cupboard door. He nudged at the handle before Benny almost unconsciously reverted to his human form to deal with the barrier. Then reaching inside, past a box of cereal, he spotted the familiar candy in its stash. “Got them!” he exclaimed triumphantly as he took it out.

Adi watched and watched.

LOL.

His boyfriend in doggie form trying to sniff out the kiddies was funny. This meant that occasionally he would be sniggering. But his clues helped and in no time Benny had located the treats. And reverted back to his old form. "Well, that was fun!'' Adi said, straightening up from his position at the doorway. "I'll hide more of them someday for you to find.'' And when he wanted to entertain himself.

"Just don't go eating them all now or I'll be waking you up to go jogging with me in the morning,'' he teased. You know he would do that, Benny!

His prize in hand, Benny wasn’t paying all too much attention to Adi sniggering at him. He scooped a handful of sour treats from the bag and popped a couple into his mouth to enjoy as the boyfriend spoke once more causing him to nod in agreement. Yeah….it was fun. Especially with the bonus of the kiddies at the end. “You do that…” Benny mused, looking up at Adi from his spot on the kitchen floor. Another couple were popped into his mouth without much thought as the first pair lost their sugary lemon flavor and were swallowed.

He was enjoying the new pair when Adi threatened exercise for excessive sweets. “Duly warned,” the dragon remarked. “Certainly don’t want that happening.” Nope. The hippogriff was a task master who wore him out when they went jogging together. And that would be ON TOP of the stomach ache he would likely get beforehand from all that sugary goodness. No, it just wasn’t worth it. He would just limit himself to the ten more currently in his hand, sealing the bag with the other and easing himself gradually up to his feet.

“See…being good, Coach,” he teased. The hand currently holding the bag stretching it out for Adi to take.

Look at the boyfriend all occupied with his sours. Adi chuckled as he watched him, thinking of how cute Benny looked. "You can be sure I will! And tomorrow morning we'll go jogging for sure! That means you get to wake up early tomorrow.'' Adi tried to hide his grin. Benny didn't like waking up early so teasing him about it was always fun.

But... wait?

Adi laughed. "Such dedication to not going jogging, Benny!'' He reached out to take the bag. He'd keep the kiddies close in case Benny had a craving for them. "Back to studying for you then?''

Benny shook his head. “Nope, that won’t be happening,” he remarked quite sure of himself. And if Adi even tried, the hippogriff would be dealing with a very sleepy yet also stubborn dragon. The type that simply rolled over and ignored him no matter what he tried. Peppered with kisses and all. And if he tried any tricks, the feisty lion would be sure to pay him back for them.

Releasing his grip on the treat bag once Adi had taken hold of it, Benny stretched up to his full height. “Of course…” he mused, a half-smirk growing to rest upon his face. “I keep in shape in other ways.” Ways the other man was sure to be aware of. As for returning to his studying. "Alas... I suppose so," he agreed with a soft sigh. "Thankfully the term is over soon." And then only one more year to follow.

"You're so sure of yourself,'' Adi teased. Of course Benny was sure. The boyfriend knew quite well that if Adi saw him wanting to sleep more than ever, Benny would be able to get out of going jogging. Mhmm.. Adi was like that. He could actually see it now- him trying to drag Benny out of bed and getting ignored or else a fierce glare.

How amusing!

Okay, THAT got a laugh and a smirk out of him. "I'm sure you do.'' Hehe. "The poor dragon. He has to study some more while I lounge about.'' That was a lie. Adi had studying to do too. Lots of it since he was doing a double major and all. "We'll get through it. Come on, let's go.''

Back to studying they go!

Benny had known Adi would understand, more than half-expecting the laugh that came out of the boyfriend. Yeah, they knew each other so well even in the unspoken things. Like the joke or hard time, the hippogriff was giving about only one of them studying. “Funny, my dear Adi…” he mused as he took hold of him quite willing to pull him along back to studying if he resisted his own work. But that wasn’t going to be necessary it seemed as the former Hufflepuff spoke once more.

“Yes…let’s”

NEW SCENE – BENNY’S BIRTHDAY

Dinner had been…wonderful.

But then Adi had chosen well. Well they had both originally chosen well as the restaurant had been one they had found for the purpose of another dinner and opted to keep it as a favorite. They had walked home in the summer breeze of a late August evening, reaching their apartment as the sun was finally setting. When Adi had unlocked the door, Benny opened it to a dusk-filled apartment, stepping through the familiar doorway and inside to let his boyfriend follow.

“Another great birthday,” he mused as he turned with a smile towards his other half. One of those grins that seemed reserved for the man in question. “I am spoiled…as always.”

Man, the nerves!

All through dinner, Adi had been keeping it together, keeping himself calm, cool and collected. He didn't usually get nervous except when it came to super important things and what he was about to do would definitely be classified in that category. He locked the door again and turned to look at Benny. He grinned back. "I'm glad you liked it, spoiled dragon!''

Now he just needed to make this birthday more memorable. Heck, this would beat out the birthday year that he presented Ethelinda to Benny.

"You haven't asked why I haven't given you a present though,'' Adi stated casually as he moved towards the piano they had situated in the living room. Yep! He had something planned out.

If any of Adi’s nerves had been showing, Benny hadn’t been noticing them. The day seemed like any other birthday to him with Adi doing his best to make the day the best he could do and in the dragon’s opinion…never failing at that task. Even if one year the day had been started with him being turned into a large canary due to the very frosting of his homemade birthday cake. He really was the best friend and boyfriend a guy could ever want.

“I did indeed,” he agreed with a chuckle as he plopped down on the couch, relaxing against the back as he sat cross-legged. His blue eyed gaze following his companion as he moved to the piano, curious as to the reason for the path Adi had chosen. Benny moved to motion him to join him on the couch when Adi spoke once more.

“Oh…” he mused, tilting his head and looking at Adi. “What else to I need tonight? Already have good food and a great boyfriend.” Not that he was trying to inflate that head of his with the compliment. Maybe Adi was getting ready to sing happy birthday to round out the night. The hippogriff’s voice was another thing to compliment him on.
