Benadi...

Two best friends, first real close during school and now inseparable as they start the rest of their lives together.

Locations
Benadi Apartment: Two bedroom apartment in the outskirts of Edinburgh. Their first very own home close to school.

Cassiopeia's Cafe: A friendly cafe owned by Benny's mother

Rehman House: The childhood home of Adi, home of Saieed and Indira Rehman

Wizarding University: Edinburgh Campus of the school, where Benny and Adi take classes towards their degrees.

Scene 1 : Cassiopeia's Cafe

Ben's mom's cafe was chosen as the location for the ritual meeting of the families. Aka the first full Atreyu-Rehman get-together. The one where the boys tell their loved ones the truth about their relationship and see just how they react.

Adi laughed as Raj giggled, the two sounds mixing together as father and son enjoyed a moment. Really, this little boy was such a joy to have around. This was one of the reasons Adi wanted more kids. They were awesome, when they weren’t up to mischief, that is. He and Benny didn’t really have any trouble with Raj; he was usually quiet and content. Those were two traits Benny had. Adi was more than sure was Raj was going to take after Benny than him.

Such a cute thought.

He eased with the tickling though he still kept Raj close. “Oh no! Raj is so strong that he managed to stop me from tickling him!’’ He grinned as he nodded to his husband. “Strong and always-growing boy.’’ And there were questions that Benny had. “Clinics. They’d help with the process. We’ll get that sorted when we come to that point. I mean, we can look into some good ones and make a choice.’’ As for the who... “You remember my loud cousin from India? Sanjana? She was at our wedding.’’ It was impossible to forget her. "Well, she’d once told me if we needed a surrogate, she’d be willing.’’ It was the cousin that had given him the idea in the first place.

Benny clapped and laughed as Raj won the day against his father’s antics. “Yay!! Go Raj!!” Strong and ever-growing boy indeed. Good traits for a protective older brother for sure. Now wait…what got him thinking that line? Not that it wasn’t true. Any kid they brought into the family, be it from a adoption center or clinic, would be Rajesh’s younger sibling after all.

Sanjana…how could he forget? With or without her having been at their wedding. Adi’s cousin had flirted him on more than one occasion since he had met her. Well maybe more than 100 occasions in all actuality, even though she was well aware of his relationship with Adi AND his preference of gender. A fact that made him think she well enjoyed the simple act and the awkward reaction he himself always went into in reaction. Now that would be proof of her relation to his husband given how much Adi himself liked to tease him.

“She did?”

Adi, still grinning, readjusted his arms around Raj as his and Benny’s conversation continued. It was very comforting sitting there with his little family. His creatures’ family was nearby and really, what could be more awesome than this? Right now, though, he was watching Benny and trying hard not to laugh. He could bet what the hubby was thinking: how much Sanjana flirted with him. It was almost merciless flirting that left Benny red in the face and Adi rolling his eyes at his cousin. He trusted the two, Benny more than anyone else so he knew he need not worry about anything.

“Yeah, she did. I think that was sometime after our wedding. I actually forgot about her offer until a few days ago.’’ You know, when he started thinking about the time being right for him and Benny to have another child. “What do you think, babe?’’ The dragon’s input was very important to him.

Raj leaned more into his papa as Adi adjusted his hold around him, enjoying the closeness while watching his other father. His head resting on the older man’s shoulder as he took hold of the other hand.

Benny couldn’t help it, he wasn’t looking at Adi, not directly anyway. He knew he’d no doubt be blushing if he did catch his husband’s gaze. All this talk of his cousin and the flirting. Speaking of which… Right, sometime after the wedding. Once they were joined as husbands and sure to eventually be interested in starting a family. Sanjana hit one of their obstacles and options right off the bat…while she was flirting with him. A tease yet being kind all the same.

“I think it has possibilities.” They would of course have to check on the plausibility and what all was entailed in the process. But it wasn't a no by any means, or even a maybe.

Adi was still trying not to laugh, the last memory of Sanjana still fresh in his mind as though everything had happened only a few seconds ago. Poor Benny, always having to put up with so much teasing throughout his life. He looked down at Raj, gently holding the toddler’s small hand in his much bigger one. If all went well then Raj would have a younger sibling in the near future.

Exciting times!

So, the hubby seemed into this idea. “Awesome, babe! First research then we tell Sanjana. Pretty sure she’s still open to the idea.’’ She and Adi hadn’t spoken about this topic again but he was optimistic that his cousin wouldn’t let him down. “Mom’s going to be over the moon when she hears she’s going to have another grandchild.’’

Brushing aside all thought of Sanjana, at least in pertaining to the awkwardness of her behavior towards him, Benny nodded in agreement. “Sounds like a plan then.” Map everything out and see what could be done to welcome their next member of the family into the fold. Which would likely entail telling Raj something at some point about his future sibling. Benny leaning over and giving the boy a playful boop on the nose as he cuddled into Adi all relaxed and comfortable.

Rajesh giggled as his nose was booped, wrinkling it it return as he watched his father. "My nose."

"Right...your nose." And him being adorable. How could one not want more like him? “Both of them will.” If there was anything Cassiopeia Atreyu and Indira Rehman had in common was the joy they got out of the idea of grandchildren.

Adi was definitely in extra high spirits right now. Soon their mini family would be expanding!

He could already see it: the sleepless nights, the grandparents fussing, Raj being curious, and hopefully not jealous, of the newborn. What fun! What a lot of responsibility it was going to be. The guy knew he was ready and knew Benny felt the same as well. He rested his chin lightly on the top of Raj’s head as he watched the two. He loved moments like these.

He chuckled, very much amused. “Luckily he didn’t steal your nose, huh, Raj?’’ Adi looked over at Benny, happiness etched all over his features. “Definitely! I expect they’ll want to spend even more time over here afterwards. I don’t look forward to any arguments they’ll have over who takes care of her.’’ Because he wanted a daughter now. “Or him.’’

Rajesh looked up as he felt the chin on his head even though there was no way he could see his father from that angle with head to head.”Un huh…lucky,” the boy said, a free hand reaching to cover up his still safe nose upon his face.

That was him…fake nose stealer. All in good fun and teasing of his son. Can't let Adi have all the fun. “Hmmm…as long as that occasionally means more private time for us.” Because as much as they loved family and their work, they could certainly use me time. Or them time.

Benny couldn’t help but raise an eyebrow at Adi as he said her long before correcting himself. “Someone’s hoping for…something.” He had been about to say sister but he wasn’t sure about saying a that might be recognized and picked up by Raj until they were ready to discuss it in detail with the boy. But he still caught onto the hidden meaning dear husband.

Even though he had his chin sitting lightly on his son’s head, Adi was able to see him quite clearly reaching for his nose. The action sent him into a moment of hearty laughing. Really... what did he ever do to deserve these awesome, cute moments? “Nose still firmly on that face, buddy?’’ he asked between laughs.

He smirked over at Benny. “I think that would definitely allow for that. More date nights and all the other stuff!’’ They still had date night because there was never a shortage of persons wanting to babysit Raj: his dad-when he was alive-, his mother and uncle, Benny’s parents, Lux, Hades, Ilia, Henric... Yep, their child and future children were in good hands.

“I can hope,’’ the guy told Benny, with a grin as he received the look. Even though he wanted a daughter next, he wouldn’t mind if they had another boy. “Want to head back to the house? I need to call the cousin.’’ Mhmm! That loud mouth, flirt-with-your-hubby- cousin.

Rajesh was taken back by the feel of Adi laughing above him, winding up giggling himself in response. "Uh huh...nose there." The boy letting go of his nose since he knew it was safe and secure.

“Silly Daddy, huh?” Benny remarked with a laugh and a shake of his head. As for more date nights and such, it suddenly struck him as amusing to think of more time alone when they'd be getting another child, a baby this time, which normal meant less time. He would be very much happy with the best of both worlds that was being suggested however.

“Uh huh…you certainly can,” he agreed with a nod. And now he kinda wished there was a way to make sure that’s what they got. But adoption was the more reliable in that regard. “Yeah…I can certainly use a wash up,” he admitted, moving to stand back up to his feet. And maybe a nap with one or more of his boys. “What do you say, Little Man?” Benny asked, holding his arms down for Rajesh to take if he wanted him to carry and let Adi get up on his own.

Raj in turn mirrored him, raising his arms though he was still held by Daddy Adi. "Home!"

Honestly, why was everything Raj did always so cute? His giggling was one thing Adi certainly found to be so. All ‘stolen’ body parts seemed to be intact. Alrightey then! They were going to head back to the house. He too needed to wash up. The son too as he was constantly outdoors with his fathers. Speaking of washing up, Adi thought he might as well go all out. Meaning, he needed to take care of his awesome hair; it could use a washing.

The guy raised Raj slightly towards Benny. “Gosh! He’s getting heavier, Benny! Soon we won’t be able to lift him.’’ But he was grinning, pleased to see that his son was growing so healthily. When Raj was handed over, Adi got to his feet, moved to Benny’s side and slipped an arm around the hubby’s waist.

“I need a snack as well,’’ he said.

Of course, he was hungry.

“Aww don’t tell me you’re going soft, Rehman,” Benny teased his husband as the boy was passed to him and lifted up. Even still the boy was definitely getting bigger and heavier in his hold for sure. Just a sign of Raj growing up. Not able to lift him would mean hitting the double digits in age at least which would be a time of mixed feelings. Their little boy wasn’t so little anymore. He smiled at the arm around his waist chuckling at the comment about food. “Yes…must keep you well fed,” he remarked as they made their way back up to the house.

Benny stepped inside, holding the door open for Adi as he looked around as if checking for something in his over emphasized movements of his head and gaze. The house showing not a sign of life besides the two men, their son dropped off at his grandparents for the evening to no doubt be spoiled within an inch of his life. “Hmm…a quiet house…” he mused as the dragonologist stepped further into their home, taking off his coat. The coast quite clear. “…whatever will we do?”

Did he hear that?

Adi most definitely did!

It was the sound of total silence and it sort of reminded him of the times when it was just him and Benny living in the house. After the arrival of Raj, the house had never been quiet because there were always little footsteps moving around or Raj practicing his words or something like that. It wasn’t as though Adi hated the noises (actually, they were some of his favourites) but sometimes, parents needed a break, ya know? Thank Merlin for grandparents, which was where Raj was off spending some time.

From such silence, it was safe to portend that this was going to be an extra fun evening. Adi closed the door behind him. ”Mhmm! Very quiet!’’ He grinned and shrugged off his own coat. “I could think of a few things,’’ he continued, his grin turning mischievous as he hung the coat up.

They needed to take advantage of this free time!

He hung up his coat and turned back to head towards the great room. “I’m sure you can…” Benny mused, catching the mischief in Adi’s eyes. He was also sure he had a good idea on what his other half was thinking right this moment. ”And we have all night to work on some of them.” One or two needing to wait until the end to insure they got the time to do anything else. Who knew free time also needed to be scheduled in some way?

“Weeeeee just need to decide where to begin.” The former Gryffindor glancing at his watch to see the time for potential guiddance. “What does the great hippogriff think?” he asked, absently turning back towards Adi. Benny was open to suggestions for sure. Or at least preferences to his own ideas in his own mind.

Adi grinned, quite certain that Benny knew what was going on in his head. His other half could always do that and that sometimes worked to Adi’s advantage. “Yeah, you’re right as usual. Lots of time!’’ But was it a lot of time considering that their son would be around tomorrow? He supposed this would be a good thing because he could never get over just how different the house ‘sounded’. Not now, not from the times before. “It still feels weird without him being around, doesn’t it?’’

His gaze was back on the hubby now. “Yeeees, we do! Food’s always a good place, babe.’’ Adi made a move for the kitchen. “Want us to make something together?’’ A chicken dish preferably. Also, cooking with the husband was one of the most fun thing to do. Aside from that, he really was hungry.

As usual.

Mhmm plenty of time. “That it does,” Benny agreed with a nod, his gaze absently flitting around the room and the house as a whole. After years of being on their own, Rajesh added extra energy besides the sounds of his life to the house. But while it was weird, the dragon needed his alone time with his other half any time he could get it. Especially when they didn’t have to worry about the boy getting in the midst of things.

“Right…food,” he remarked with a smirk. “Must always keep the hippogriff well fed.” It made for a very happy hubby. Boyfriend and best friend before that too. “Sure…I’d love to cook with you,” Benny added, moving in the direction of the kitchen. “Something chicken I suppose…hmmm?” he teased, knowing it was likely a rhetorical question. Adi would turn into a chicken if one truly became what they ate all the time.

Obviously Benny would realise the difference in the way the house felt or sounded. Adi missed his little boy but date nights with the hubby were important. He would just put Raj out of his mind for now and just enjoy the present moments.

And it was time to make that food!

“You know it!’’ Adi said happily. Food was life and Benny knew him all too well. He moved to the fridge. “Mhmm! Chicken.’’ He had already grabbed it and now set it on the counter. “You get to choose what dish we make.’’ This was how they did things: together.

They were a team after all

All thoughts of the different sounds of the house seemed to be forgotten with the mention of food. Proof positive of the validity of his words even without his husband’s verbal confirmation. Benny almost had to chuckle at the enthusiasm being shown, settling for a simple smile as he tilted his head in thought, noticing the quickness the chicken was brought out of the fridge.

“Hmm now that’s a tough decision.” With chicken being a favorite of Adi’s, there was a great amount of chicken recipes in their repertoire. Benny tried to think over what they might not have had in a while or what ingredients they didn’t have that might limit their options at the moment. “How about chicken francaise? I think we have the lemons.” Not to mention a white wine they kept for cooking when not drinking.

Adi waited patiently for Benny to make up his mind. Really, he didn’t mind which recipe they went with. “Sounds good! Yep, we do have the lemons.’’ And so, he went to work grabbing ingredients. “Eggs, flour, lemons, chicken of course... anything else?” He looked from Benny to the counter where all the ingredients were gathered so far. Oh, yeah. They’d also be needing all the spices and seasonings, yes?

“Who’s going to cook mostly? You? Because I’d rather sit and admire you doing so.’’ Flirting. Adi was flirting and wiggling his eyebrows at Benny for greater effect. And as though to prove this point, he plopped himself down on a seat at the counter.

He’d just start admiring that foine husband of his right now!

Benny grabbed the recipe book just for back-up, turning to the appropriate page for the recipe they needed. He nodded at each of the things Adi mentioned as it was taken out of the fridge and cupboard, confirming them all. “Looks to be everything,” he remarked, setting the book on the counter so it was available to be glanced at if needed. Well everything but the plate and pan that they would be working with to prepare and cook said materials.

He watched Adi move to sit down at the counter, an eyebrow raising as he listened to his husband with his antics. “Oh…so that’s how its going to be hmm?” Benny asked almost rhetorically as he leaned his hands on the counter. If that was how he wanted it to be so be it. He would just have to worry about all the attention aimed on him as he worked.

So he had gotten everything, or at least the main ingredients. Cooking was somewhat like Potions and everyone who knew him that Potions was one of the things he was talented at. This by default made cooking easy for him because he was able to memorise ingredients and methods.

At that moment, Adi was busy pouring a bit of regular coca cola in a quaigh. It was the closest thing he could reach anyway. “Mhmm! That’s exactly how it's gonna be.’’ He sipped his drink. “Of course, I’m always willing to help where needed. Want some cola while you work?’’

Three plates came out, one soon covered in egg and another in flour. “Such a slave driver,” he teased as he grabbed a pan and set it on the stove burner that was already on to warm up for cooking. “Just make sure I don’t miss a thing for now,” he added, figuring he could manage most of the steps. He wasn’t too bad a cook despite the fact that potions hadn’t a major forte for him. “Maybe slice the lemons.”

That would be one less thing to think on doing while he went to work on dredging the cutlets now in his charge. Not much prep needed. Benny shook his head at the offer of drink. "No thank you love. "I'm good."

Adi laughed. “I try, don’t I?’’ His brown eyes followed Benny’s every move. It was something he enjoyed, ya know... watching the hubby. He always found it difficult to not look at him. Such handsomeness... “You really expect me to be focused when while you’re cooking?’’ he asked flirtily and with a wiggle of the eyebrows. Grinning, he reached for the lemons which were mercifully closed as was the knives. It saved him from getting up again.

The man shrugged and took another swig of the pop as his brain found itself in logomachy about the one thousand and one words he could use to flirt with Benny right now. But there was work to be done as instructed by the dragon. Yet Adi found himself grabbing three lemons and juggling them just for fun.

“Hey, Benny! Check out my skills!’’

“Mhmm…” was all Benny said as he started the first chicken piece through the process. First plate…second plate…pan. “Yes I do,” the lion remarked. “Think of it as a potion and you have to focus to make sure it doesn’t blow me up.” Surely the badger could pay attention if it was in defense of him. That and potions was something Adi definitely took seriously knowing how important it was to not make mistakes along the way.

He was about to reach for the second piece and start all over again when Adi called for his attention, his blue-eyed gaze looking up and at his other half juggling the lemons he was supposed to be cutting. “Show-off…” he said with a chuckle at his husband’s antics, shaking his head as he paused in his work for a moment.

Boy, Benny sure knew how to make him tone down. Then again, he supposed that was what other halves were for: to keep the other one in check. The hubby certainly did a pretty great job of that. Right now, Adi was just eyeing Benny as the cola was being polished off. “But it’s not a potion that will blow you up,’’ he stated as innocently and convincingly as he could. “If you insist, I will be on alert in order to protect my dragon.” Cue a huuuge, exaggerated sigh.

Adi stuck out his tongue and caught the lemons. His brown eyes met the blue ones he loved so much. “I prefer to call it entertainment. For you. Aren’t I just considerate?’’ Laughing, he carefully began to slice the lemons. Soon, the kitchen was filled with a citrusy aroma.

And his stomach gave a rumble of hunger.
