The Macmillans
A collection of short stories

Welcome! This collection of stories will portray moments of the life of the Macmillans, a pureblood Wizarding family who eventually started marrying Half-bloods, Muggleborns and even Muggles! You might spot my former Hogwarts character, Sophie Campbell, here and there, as well as some of my Diagon Alley characters and even one that made an appearance in the Ministry at some point. I hope you enjoy! =)

Disclaimer: The Harry Potter universe and amazingness were not created by mere me, but the awesome J.K. Rowling!

A Christmas Afternoon
25 December 2084

John had learned to accept the idea of having the family Christmas reunion at their house. At first, he couldn't understand why their house specifically, since it probably wasn't the largest one of the family. However, his wife's constant explanations about the garden and how it was good for the children and even for the adults eventually convinced him.

Right now there were eleven people gathered in his garden, including himself. The second youngest of them, a six year-old boy, was proudly holding the tiny trumpet he had just been given as if it was a trophy. Matthew was probably rehearsing his little solo, but instead of singing it, he was trying to guess how to play it in the trumpet. His father, who looked annoyed and partially lost, was standing nearby.

"Should we let him remember anything from today?" John asked in a whisper when he approached his other brother-in-law.

"Hmmm, maybe. I don't see any harm in him having some of our carols in his memory." Seth replied, looking at their Muggle relative. Carl Meriwether definitely looked like he didn't belong there. For as much as his magical wife tried, he still dressed and acted like a Muggle. He wasn't to blame, however; it wasn't his fault his memory was erased to some extent after every family reunion. "Say, he's been a very good guinea-pig, hasn't he?" Seth played, laughing at the face John made at his comment. "I'm only joking, Campbell, relax."

All of the women were already in place to start their little Christmas chorale. "Hurry up, you three!" Amanda Macmillan, the oldest of the cousins, called her father and uncles with a frantic wave of her hand. "Or we're going to start without you! FEMALE POWER!!" She fist pumped the air and grinned purposefully at her sister, who she knew would be rolling her eyes. She was right; Rachel looked anything but amused at the yelling. "Cheer up, you grump!!" Amanda nudged her sister and wrapped her other arm around their cousin. "Look at this big ol' smile on Sophie's face! Come on! You can be happy too!"

Amanda wouldn't let Rachel ruin her mood by reminding her how things weren't as fun anymore since their mother didn't join them for Christmas celebration. As soon as her sister started muttering such comments, the excited girl spoke louder and ordered the family to start singing. "Matt! Lead us with an introduction!" She beamed at her little cousin, who of course beamed back and took his brand new instrument to his lips, blowing randomly into it, not making any proper sounds at all. "PERFECT!" Mandy knew he was going to be a brilliant musician already. Hah! Just look at his enthusiasm! Learn from him, Rachel!
