Default Merlin's Beard! (Term 50, 2096-2097)

A bit confused about the plot? Housemates talking about a mysterious something going bump in the night? Here's where YOU can post and catch up on happenings around the castle and in Hogsmeade -- out of character, of course.

This means that unless your student character heard this stuff from other students or witnessed the actual event, your student character doesn't know about it.

Also, this is a reminder to everyone to only post updates on the school plot here. Please do not post the happenings of your student character in here unless it is related to the plot; that should go in the Wizarding World chat thread.

Have fun!

If memory served him right, ALL of the students were to be sitting at their respective tables. What made THIS girl so special, hmm? Even worse, why were those at the staff table letting her break ranks?

But the man did not bother asking the girl what she was doing out there in the hall by herself. He simply grunted at her disapprovingly and kept on walking, moving through the threshold of the large double doors, his former wand arm, a metal prosthesis, was digging in his coat pocket for something very important.

Was Fletcher keeping up with him? The man sure hoped so. He expected nothing less.

In fact, he didn't even cast one look at them — there was bound to be a tie that was improperly done or an untucked shirt or a student out of place. No, his focus was set on someone else for the time being: the person who would be receiving the letter he bore.

"Good evening," he gruffly addressed the adults when he arrived at their table. His face remained rather blank, expressionless, cold even.

Without saying anything else, he pointed a finger at the vacant seat right next to the golden throne, indicating that was where Fletcher was to make himself at home. As for where he would be sitting, the man gave his white beard a tug with his left hand while simultaneously permitting his prosthesis to hand over the sealed envelope to Regina Hawthorne.

The old man made eye contact with the woman and then murmured, "This is for you." Scrimgeour was already counting how long it was taking for her to move.

Text Cut: Letter
Dear Regina Hawthorne,

After much deliberation, the Hogwarts Board of Governors, with support from the Minister for Magic, request your dismissal from Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Taking the events of the past few terms under your supervision and numerous concerns from parents pertaining to the term prior into consideration, we feel that this is the best decision for the overall safety and wellbeing of the school and its students.

Upon your reading of this letter, we ask that a prompt and quiet departure is made so that the newly appointed Headmaster, Julian Scrimgeour, can assume immediate leadership of the school.

We sincerely apologise for the short notice of this message and any inconvenience that it may bring.

Signed:

Alanna Marsh
Hogwarts Board of Governors

Calvin moved behind Scrimgeour, looking neither to the left nor the right. His gaze was set on what he assumed would be his seat.

He too gave a gruff sort of greeting, his own drifting closer to the curt side of life as he took the seat his colleague pointed to. He nodded to his neighbour on his right but engaged no further. Instead, his attention was turned toward the letter being offered and the woman next to him who was now sitting in the wrong seat.

She had packing to do, did she not?

The speech has been given? Or has it?

A hint of a smile played on his lips the moment Hawthorne rose from her seat. His icy blue eyes watched as she made her way around the table. Shifting his body ever so slightly, he watched as she made her departure down between two of the tables and out of sight. At this time, his eyes fell on the throng of students in the room. He was certain those that had been paying attention to their surroundings wondering what had just taken place.

Leaving his throne empty for the moment, he stepped forward to the owl-shaped podium and loudly cleared his throat. "As a sign of respect, stand." There was no need for him to say 'please' — it was an order, a command that he expected them all to follow without question or complaint. Scrimgeour waited for every single student and even the staff members to so before continuing.

"The Hogwarts Board of Governors, upon evaluating the events that have taken place at this school under her reign and the concerns of many parents regarding the incident that took place last term, have requested that your former headmistress be dismissed. I, Headmaster Scrimgeour, will be taking her place. This decision has been carefully made by the Board with support from the Ministry, and I am happy to come out of years of retirement as an ex-Auror to assume this position and restore Hogwarts back to its former glory."

He then made a gesture with his metal prosthesis toward Fletcher. "With me tonight, I have brought a new staff member who will be teaching Divination: Professor Fletcher. A worthy candidate who is far more qualified than my predecessor's selection."

As for the other new staff, they went unintroduced. The old man didn't know who was new or who was not. Quite frankly, he didn't care. All that mattered to him was that they did their job the right way.

"This term is going to be one of improvement," he carried on. "It has become evident that there has been a severe lack of safety protocol as well as regard for school rules. This year we will be returning to the basics and adopting a new school initiative. Change is on the way for Hogwarts. Because of this, total compliance is asked for while these necessary changes progressively take place. There will be no need to question or go against the changes that this initiative will bring for they are for your own benefit and safety."

There was a brief pause after this, which allowed for the information to sink in to those that were paying attention. As he stood there, Scrimgeour considered elaborating but in the end decided against it. They would know soon enough.

"I could go into more detail about what is to come, but that would be a lot to process for one night. For now, enjoy the feast and make sure you get plenty of rest for your first day of classes." They would be needing it...

The old man then walked away from the lectern and around the staff table, but there was no food or beverages appeared on any of the tables as he did so. When Scrimgeour made it to his throne, he then snapped two metal fingers together, causing plates of food and pitchers of drink to appear. He sat down and then grunted, "You may be seated."

They were lucky to have encountered him in slightly better spirits, in which his stomach was full and all he wanted to do was sit in front of the fire before turning in for the night.

The old man paid no attention to the suits of armour as he walked down the corridor, getting closer and closer to the entrance to what was now his office. He heard their helmets turning, but he knew that they wouldn't attack him. This was his school now.

But apparently the gargoyle did not get the memo. Needless to say, he was rather displeased when it didn't automatically step aside for him the moment he was standing face-to-face with it.

"This is Headmaster Scrimgeour speaking. Step aside, gargoyle," he ordered gruffly, already beginning to lose patience with the slab of stone.

Its loyalty still remained with the woman who once resided there.

"I, Headmaster Julian Scrimgeour, order you to move," he grunted at the gargoyle, giving it one last chance to change its mind. This was a disgrace to someone who was in charge of the school, an ex-Auror, and recipient of an Order of Merlin, First Class!

But, again, there was no movement. Was this some sort of revenge from that Hawthorne woman?

At this point, his left hand drew a wand from his pocket and casted nonverbal spell after nonverbal spell. In spite of his efforts, the gargoyle still did not move. Riled up, he was tempted to blast the statue into smithereens. Instead the old man slammed his metal fist against the stone, affecting it in no way whatsoever, and stormed down the corridor. Surely that dismal-looking Deputy Head would know how to get around the stubbornness of the gargoyle.

"Stewart, is it?" the headmaster asked gruffly in response to her 'greeting.' It was more of a rhetorical question than anything. There were more important things to him than getting someone's name right. "It has come to my attention that you and some of your colleagues did not stand during my speech last night." There was a lengthy pause before he spoke again, casting a glance at the Creatures professor too. He was hearing this, right? "You and those select colleagues, whenever they arrive, can join the students in running laps this morning and set a good example." His order was nonnegotiable. They, honestly, were lucky to still have their jobs.

...

"Right then. Let's not waste any more precious time," he grunted at them all. "Every morning at this time you all will be running laps around the pitch. While obligatory, this is not a punishment. In fact, it is for your benefit. Research has shown that morning exercise improves both mental and physical energy. Doing the S.O.R.E. will get your blood flowing, kickstart your brain, ensure you are awake during your lessons, improve classroom performance overall, and build character."

Did they all hear that? There was logic behind all of this, whether they liked having to crawl out of bed at the break of dawn or not.

"You will be making five laps around the pitch. When you are done, you can go rinse off, put on your uniform, and report to the Great Hall for breakfast," Scrimgeour explained. "Those who refuse to complete their S.O.R.E. will lose House points, serve detention, have privileges revoked..." His voice trailed off. They would also find out about the jinx soon enough. He doubted everyone had made it to the pitch, which meant there would be a number of students walking around with boils sprouting and spelling out 'TROLL' across their forehead.

He, directing a nod toward Fletcher, then motioned at the entrance of the pitch with his metal prosthesis. "Begin."

Fun times, Hogwarts friends. Prefects can now take points.

Posted in the Prefect bathroom:

Text Cut: Parchment
Head Boy, Head Girl, and Prefects:

Under my leadership as Headmaster, I am reinstating point docking to your list of responsibilities. As your role requires you to act as a bridge between students and staff, your aid in enforcing the school rules is required with this ability to deduct points from students. Allowing you to do so is to ensure that every student at Hogwarts is behaving the way they are supposed to and to give those that are not an immediate consequence when a professor is not present.

With this power comes great responsibility. The following are the guidelines I expect you to follow:
  • You may deduct points from students of any House. You cannot deduct points from the Head Boy, Head Girl, or another Prefect; should they not follow the rules themselves, they must be reported to me immediately.

  • If you see a student breaking any of the school rules, you must dock points from them — even if they are your friend or from your own House. You are held in a position of authority over them and were selected because of your adherence to the school rules.

  • Point deductions must be logged in the black leather pocket notebook provided for you. Simply write the student's name, their House, the point value to be docked, and the reason for points needing to be docked from them. There is no need to turn these books in to me on a regular basis as what you write in them will magically appear on a master list that is kept in my possession.

  • If a student is breaking a major school rule that require more than mere point loss, notify the appropriate Head of House as well as myself immediately.

  • Do not abuse this power or refuse to use it when school rules are being broken, or you will be the one facing the consequences.
If there are any questions or concerns about point docking or any of your existing responsibilities, communicate with your Head of House or myself.

Rather than sit at her usual place up at the bar, she had ordered herself a glass of wine and snagged an open booth. She had more than enough patience in her to wait for Roderik to show up before ordering supper. Keeping herself preoccupied until she showed up, she pulled out a copy of the Prophet from her bag (only flipping to see if there was anything about the school) and gingerly sipped her drink.

"Right this way, Ainsworth," the man grunted, pointing a metal finger at the entrance to the first floor once they had made it to the landing.

Scrimgeour continued to lead the way as the duo stepped into the rugs and bypassed portrait after portrait. They soon passed the History of Magic classroom without a moment of hesitation and continued around the corner to...

"Ahh, Stewart," the headmaster said, his voice unnervingly smooth and cold. "Just the person I wanted to see."

Without saying another word, he pulled out from his pocket an envelope, sealed with the Hogwarts emblem, and held it out to the woman. His face remained expressionless and stone-like, but on the inside he was feeling like a boy on Christmas morning sitting in front of his presents under the tree.

Dear Kaysha Stewart,

After much deliberation, I, with support from the Hogwarts Board of Governors, request your dismissal from Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. With the results of your formal staff evaluation and your seemingly continuous lack of issuing consequences in- and outside of the classroom when necessary in mind, I feel that this is the best decision for the wellbeing of the school and its students. In order for structured learning to successfully take place at Hogwarts, maintaining high expectations and following through on needed repercussions is of utmost importance.

Upon your reading of this letter, I ask that a prompt and quiet departure is made so that your replacement, Mr. Rafferty Ainsworth, can take over the roles of Muggle Studies professor and Ravenclaw Head of House immediately.

Thank you for your services to the school.

Signed:

Julian Scrimgeour

All he cared about was getting a straight-to-the-point answer. All the banter was wasting his time.

A stern look was given to Ashburry-Hawthorne. Hopefully he took the hint. He had done enough by reporting the Astronomy professor.

Cambridge's answer was exactly what he wanted. It was short and told him enough to know what had happened. If there was anything the man hoped the Hufflepuff learned, it was precision of language, without the rambling and emotions.

No words of appreciation were given to the Prefect and Head Girl. The man didn't felt the need to give them, for it was their job to report rule-breaking in all of its forms. But this was a matter of utmost seriousness. A professor was promoting the breaking of rules AND denying education. Scrimgeour knew Kennedy was weak and had a hunch that he would snap eventually.

"Kennedy's behaviour certainly will not be tolerated under my command," he finally stated, his voice sounding nastier than usual. The man was quite a stickler for hashing out consequences to those who deserved it, professors included.

His cold eyes then fell back onto the two students. "You two will be coming with me," Scrimgeour grunted at the two student leaders. They were witnesses of what all had happened, and they were going to continue to be witnesses. As for O'Hara, the man looked at her and added, "You are welcome to join us."

With nothing more to say, he led the way out of the hall. They would be waiting for the rogue Astronomy professor in the courtyard. What a spectacle that was going to be.

Of course, he wasn't going to bombard the lesson and bring it to a sudden end. No, he had something else in mind. Either way, their would be witnesses. Order would be restored. He had O'Hara to back him up, and both Ashburry-Hawthorne and Cambridge were witnesses to the issue at hand regarding Kennedy and would be there to see the consequence be enacted.

So he just stood there, waiting for the man and the students who decided to not leave the man's lesson to make their way to the castle from the lake. There was total silence from him as puffs of air come out of his nostrils.

He was looking forward to seeing the look on Kennedy's face when he arrived and saw them waiting there.

The school would fail to thrive with that poison being allowed to spread.

Student leaders, just as regular students, were responsible for reporting any rule-breaking. Even if it was a professor breaking them. Everyone was to be held accountable under his command.

Just like he didn't want any rebelling students under his watch, he didn't want unsupportive staff. It was clearly disrupting order and progress, and any disruption was to be stamped out before it spread like wildfire.

The sight of Kennedy, after his lesson had come to an end, prompted Scrimgeour to reach into his pocket and hold in his hand the item that the man was expecting to receive. Without saying a word, the man held out the sealed envelope for the man to take.

Say hello to Stewart, he thought, a hint of a smug look appearing on his face.

Dear Kalen Kennedy,

I, with support from the Hogwarts Board of Governors, request your dismissal from Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. With your recent act of defiance against the school rules and therefore not leading by example, I feel that this is the best decision for the wellbeing of the school and its students. In order for structured learning to successfully take place at Hogwarts, it is expected of all professors to support and adhere to the school rules and provide students with a sound education. Your actions prompted students to either break the rules, which encouraged them that rule-breaking is acceptable under your watch, or leave class, which denied them of their education. These acts cannot and will not be tolerated at Hogwarts.

Upon your reading of this letter, I ask that a prompt and quiet departure is made so that a suitable replacement can take over the roles of Astronomy professor and Slytherin Head of House immediately.

Thank you for your services to the school.

His gaze first landed on the Slytherin Captain and the Ravenclaw, one of which had already started eating and one of which was technically not in the right place. Scrimgeour's eyes narrowed. Did he have to make even more rules for things that should have been common sense? It was polite to wait for the head of the school to be seated before eating, and each of the Houses had their own table for a reason.

Fortunately for the boys, the old man was forced to direct his attention to the staff table. He turned just in time to see the Care of Magical Creatures professor attack his highly qualified Astronomy replacement.

Scrimgeour was ... not surprised. He knew that Wayland wouldn't last long after the departure of his precious butterfly of a friend. It was only a matter of time for the bad egg to crack.

"WAYLAND!" the man grunted at the top of his lungs.

He quickly made his way up to the staff table. Parchment and a self-inking quill had been conjured. They were writing away as the ex-Auror moved toward Le Roux to undo any potential spells that may have hit and help the poor man up.

"Pack your bags and leave immediately. You are fired," he spat at Wayland. For good measure, he sent the completed letter over to him with a wave of his metallic hand and then pointed at the large double doors.

Dear Tristan Wayland,

As a result of the incident that just took place in the Great Hall, I request your dismissal from Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. With your attack of Prof. Gustave Le Roux in mind, I feel that this is the best decision for the wellbeing of the school and its students. Physically assaulting another colleague has revealed a severe lack of professionalism, and doing so in front of students has showed that you are unstable and therefore unfit to teach children.

Upon your reading of this letter, I ask that a prompt and quiet departure is made so that a suitable replacement can take over the role of Care of Magical Creatures professor immediately.

Thank you for your services to the school.

He'd spent the past several months constantly on guard, just waiting for Scrimgeour and his posse to attack him. It was nice to know there were still some people at Hogwarts who didn't have it out for him!

His expression changed at Foster and Joshua's answers to his question. He thought for a moment. Deep down, he knew they were right; Kay, Tristan, Kalen, and Regina would help. They were better people than he was! As much as he loved these students, he didn't think he'd have it in him to rally around a school that betrayed him. Scrimgeour might have fired them, but he never would've been in a position to do so if the Board of Governors hadn't been so quick to blame the staff for everything. In their typical knee jerk reaction, they caused more damage than that horde of Inferi ever could!

"I hope you're right," Gaston said. He had to stifle a laugh as Foster called Tristan and Kalen inseparable. Well, that was certainly one word to describe them... He liked Tristan and Kalen, but he always felt like an outsider around those two. Since he guessed their secret, he felt that even more so. It wasn't that he wasn't happy for them; he was just sadder for himself... It was hard not to feel jealous that they gained something from the attack while he lost everything. He shook his head, willing himself not to give in to the dark thoughts. They were going to need Tristan and Kalen to take back the school! "Anyway, it can't hurt to ask..."

Feeling a little better now, Gaston rose from his chair and crossed the room to one of the tables. He tore a page out of his little black book and gripped his pen, poised to write the message. He couldn't help but beam as the others agreed with his idea, though Joshua's question got a shake of his head in reply. "I'm afraid I don't have one, but we could still make this work. We'll just send a quick note requesting a list of items..."

Katrina's words got a slight eyebrow raise in response. Gaston hadn't thought about that, but she was right. "Good point," he said. "So what kind of code shall we use?" Suddenly an idea struck him. "I know! What if we use a series of spelling and grammar errors? Scrimgeour would be inspecting for content, not proofreading for mistakes. IF anything, he'd just think I'm a lazy writer..." Fueled by a burst of inspiration, he put pen to paper and wrote the following note:

Quote:
Drear Mr. Killingsworth:

Thank you fer processing my last order so promptly! Everything was of fine guality! In the interest of our continued business, i would line to request the fallowing items,

Letterhound journal

Hogwarts themed screpbook

Self-inking quil

2 capes off-white parchment

Unclosed you will find payment for she requested items. It would be greatly apreciated if you could lend packege at your erliest conveniense.

Kind regerds,

Gaston Marchand

When he finished, he set down his pen and turned to the group. "How's this? It's an order for Scrivenshaft's in Hogsmeade. The errors spell: Regina, help us please...." His eyes scanned the room for reaction. "If you don't like it, we can always rewrite it...." Hopefully that wouldn't need to happen. Gaston's good eye darted nervously toward the door. The longer they were in here, the greater the chances they'd be caught. They needed to finish up - and fast!

Once Gaston was finished, he took a quick look over the coded order form. "That should work. I can't imagine Scrimegour giving it more than a quick glance. Nothing exciting happening there." He looked to Joshua and Katrina to see if they were in agreement. "We need to get it sent out as soon as possible. I'm not sure how much more the students can take." Or the professors. The mental health of all of them was deteriorating at a far too rapid rate.

Gaston seemed to have hit quite the inspiration and Katrina just watched him quickly pen up the supply order and nodded when her dark eyes glanced over the parchment. "I think that's brilliant. I agree, i don't think it will spare more than a second glance. Although, do you think its wise to show such carelessness with this ... regime?" Katrina bit her lip. Honestly, last thing they needed was their Deputy replaced as well. He seemed far too stressed as it were.

The Deputy Headmaster was in his office. Tawny flew over the seating area and the package as well as envelope were expertly deposited on a sofa. The owl flew off with a whoosh of wings. When the Headmaster looked closer, he would discover the parchment within the envelope was actually an invoice with the following message:

Dear Professor Marchand:

Thank you fur your order! The following item have been shipped:

His heart was beating much more rapid than usual, and it took him a few deep breaths to steady his hands. All the work, all the planning, it was finally going to happen. He pulled out the coin and his wand. The coin rested in his right hand, ready to do his bidding. His wand pointed at the coin as he gave a little flick and whispered "Hogsmeade, March 16." The letters and numbers on the coin began to move, forming the message he commanded. He closed his right hand around the warmth, hoping that all involved were receiving the message as planned.

Just as quickly and quietly as he entered the broom cupboard, Foster pocketed his coin and exited before casually continuing on to the Great Hall.

“I doubt that ridiculous color is your natural color.’’ Without a moment’s hesitation Rafferty unholstered his wand. “Detention and points loss do not seem to be working on you brats. Sterner punishment is what you need.’’ There was an incantation uttered at the same time that Rafferty’s wand pointed directly at Norcott. Blinding white light lit up around them.

This was the combination of an extremely strong Stinging Jinx. The kind that would produce intense and painful scorch marks that lead to nasty swelling.

The usual snarky attitude he carried was slipping a little. Slowly Rafferty was using calmness.

While hot sauce did get plastered on his face it saved Rafferty from being kicked. How? When the sauce landed on him, Rafferty staggered backward and out of reach of Spinnet’s leg. Rather fortunate for him. Rafferty growled in anger. He clawed at his eyes and face which only made things worse as the sauce spread. His face felt like it was on fire. That didn’t stop him from attacking the students.

Even more Stinging Hexes of the same intensity as the first were shot to the students. Because the sauce was practically blinding him with burning sensations the Hexes were not aimed at one particular person. They were thrown at random. Rafferty did not care whom he hit. Still it was very satisfying to hear Norcott cry like a baby.

Cool as a cucumber? Must’ve been one of those fried cucumbers then. ”No, no, I insist, sir!”

And then for some reason everything happened all at once.

Soup was being spilled. A hex was being shot. And Zoryn Spinnet had grabbed a bottle of hot sauce off the table, squirted it’s entire contents into Ainsworth’s eyes, and kicked him with all the strength she could muster (which was a WHOLE lot because she was an athlete) right square between his legs. All within a span of 30 seconds Yes, you read that correctly.

Zoryn Spinnet just kicked fire and fury at Rafferty Ainsworth’s ~~manhood~~. Get 'em where it hurts the most, yeah?

Suddenly, the enemy of her enemy was her friend and Sylvie Norcott wasn’t that bad after all. Though, Chloe was checking on her right? Because Zoryn opted to take the offense.

Professors weren't supposed to pick on ONE student. Or... two, because Zoryn as well, kinda.

Wait, what? What "sterner punishment" was he talking about? Was he pulling out his wand?? She didn't have time to even register what was happening before there was a bang of blinding light and suddenly she was stumbling backwards, in AGONY.

Sylvie cried out, her face swelling rapidly beneath terrified fingers as she tried to somehow stop the pain from spreading, unable to see or hear anything that's going on. Her eyes wouldn't open, screaming hurt even more, and she could feel burns - scorch marks - on skin that didn't feel anything like her own face.

"WHA' DI YOU DO 'ME??" she managed to wrangle out, CRYING as tears squeezed out of slits that used to be her eyes.

She was in the process of taking the soup away from Zoryn and spilling it on purpose (because then no one could eat it) when Rafferty pulled his wand and hexed Sylvie. Chloe honestly thought she'd misunderstood what had happened, or maybe it was some other... similar... spell? But no, not mistaken. Definitely happened.

Chloe shot to her feet, upsetting her own tray in the process. "Sir! You can't... she's... sir!" Merlin, was Sylvie okay?

”Hmm, maaayybbee.” Was it concerning that the Slytherin prefect hadn’t caught on? Slightly. But then, she hadn’t exactly been able to be explicit on what this whole thing was about on the bulletin board, so he could be forgiven for not catching on.

The next four to enter the room got ”Hey!”s and ”Welcome!”s in return.

A large smile crossed her face as Nora entered an seemed to immediately get it. ”Not exactly.” Archer left it at that for now, so as to not scare anyone off. Not right away anyway.

She gave it a few more moments for any stragglers before standing and calling the ‘study group’ to order with a clearing of her throat. ”Now, as some of you may or may not have guessed, this isn’t actually study group per se. It’s actually a meeting to discuss what we, as students, can do to push these, shall we say, interlopers out of Hogwarts. You know the ones I’m talking about.” The new professors and their head hog. The furious five. Whatever you wanted to call them. ”I’ve asked the Room to make it impossible for professors or Scrimgeour to get in and to warn us if they’re out there trying to get in, so don’t worry about getting caught.” For now, anyway. ”But, if you still feel uncomfortable with this, you may leave now.” She paused there to let those who wished too, leave.

Once things were settled again, Archer spoke. ”Okay, so anyone have any ideas? Something that would make those professors crazy enough that they leave voluntarily?” Thoughts, anyone? Everyone? Questions?

OOC: Thank you for coming! Sorry for the late start and not giving everyone a full reply, but real life happened, as it so often does!

Before he could make his great escape, however, a girl he didn't really recognise spoke up and said something about not actually being here to study. And then Archer piped up and if he'd been feeling anxious before, it was nothing compared to the anxiety he felt after listening to her spiel.

"Wait. So we're not really here for studying?" This was confusing, okay? And don't worry about getting caught!? Max clung tighter to his pile of books and frowned unhappily, feeling very much confused and coerced.

He'd just traipsed up seven flights of stairs for absolutely nothing and whatever this was sounded like a TERRIBLE idea.

They probably would need some badges on their side if they were going to get anywhere and his reaction wasn't very promising...

There were a handful of older kids there too, but she didn't recognize any of them. Which was odd, because she was good was faces for the most part. Rubbish on the names, but faces were ok. Ah well. The more the merrier, she didn't care.

"Well, I tried a little something," Nettie piped up. Her cheeks turned red, which was not a normal reaction for her, but she suddenly felt very small and afraid she was going to be reamed out for her admission of what she had done. "I wore a necklace to Divination and tried to get the professor irritated. I wanted to make a point about them not having the right to take our personal stuff, and...well, it didn't really work, and he just took it from me. They're a lot tougher to crack than we think," she said with a frown. At least Fletcher was. He was like a stone man, that on. "It was probably really stupid of me," she added quietly.

SO basically, she was down to do things - she just needed other people to come up with the ideas because she was obviously rubbish at it.

This was serious business, and he couldn’t blame people for not wanting to be part of it. Some people just wanted to keep their head down and finish school. He however was not such a person.

There was no hesitation to return the wave. “When are we going to get started?’’ she questioned (Hanna), hoping that the girl would know. She was itching to get something done, something that would distract her from the stress.

The words were hardly out of Aretha’s mouth when (Sterling )spoke up. The Slytherin listened with great interest. A look of interest crossed her face as she straightened up, adjusting the bag on her shoulder. A minute later, she was able to gather what this meeting really was about. It really warmed her heart just how determined all who were gathered here wanted the replacements gone. It was evident from the way (Bel ) was offering to stand guard, the question (Sterling ) asked, the observation of how tough it was to crack Scrimgeour and his friends.

“Vandalizing their offices or whatever is a good way to frustrate them,’’ Aretha stated quietly but loud enough to be heard. "We just need to make sure we're not caught. I've heard about them throwing every wrong doer in detention without hesitation."

Ah. But it wasn't a study group.

Hanna sat still, watching some people depart, and wondering if she should do the same. What if they did get caught? The thought of those points being lost from Ravenclaw, and detentions, and even more pushups or laps was frightening. But as she continued to listen, she knew without any doubt that what Archer was saying had to be done. It just had to. They needed to leave. And since they couldn't exactly write home, to the Board of Governors, or the Ministry without their letters being searched and likely destroyed, it was up to them.

Nobody was going to help them.

She truly had no idea what would make them voluntarily leave. They didn't seem to be affected by rule-breakers, rudeness, disrespect, or anything. In fact, they seemed to welcome it. Then they would have something to play on. What could possibly break that down?

She listened to some suggestions, nodding as she heard them. She looked at Nettie, who had rebelled against the rules and worn a necklace. Hanna thought that was pretty brave, because she wouldn't have done that without constant anxiety. Nifflers, breaking rules, they were all good ideas. Hanna wasn't sure she would be able to participate in them though. She was trying to think about something SHE would be willing to do, without upsetting her parents, and her family.

Aretha mentioned something about detention, which got Hanna thinking. "Yes, you're right. I've lost count of how many people have had detention this year. But... what if people got given detentions and didn't go? Or they just... sat there?" Her hope vanished at the horror that came next. "I wouldn't put it past them to put us under the Imperius curse and make us do whatever they wanted."

It was weird, and therefore she was going to make sure she stayed close to Rylee just in case. That and she’d given a reassuring smile to Abra as he’d begun gravitating their way. Yes to Gryffindor solidarity.

Except then Archer had brought the meeting to a start, and her earlier suspicions were proven correct. Not only that, but her fellow Gryffindor leader had made a quick escape back outside the room with Bel, which she didn’t really blame them for. If it hadn’t been for her little ginger Lion, she’d probably have second-guessed her decision to come too. Plus, she wasn’t half as confident with the Hufflepuff’s spellcasting on the room to protect them.

At least she had proven almost without a doubt that the phoenix wasn’t in any way related to the hawks. “I’m not entirely sure the professors aren’t already crazy,” she admitted after a moment. She hadn’t taken her squirrel necklace off when the contraband list had gone up, or her bracelet from her father either, but she wasn’t making it obvious. Especially since she wasn’t about to risk confiscation, and she also wasn’t going to break Professor Marchand’s heart any more than she already had. “I got an account of everything that had gone on before the holidays out of the castle and sent to someone I trust, that might be able to get it to Headmistress Hawthorne.” While they were confessing things. She didn’t doubt that Hirsch would have relayed her information to the headmistress, either, even without having asked him to explicitly.

While she was all for the niffler idea, she was still not entirely convinced that direct rebellion would work. “They aren’t putting wrongdoers into detention. Not really. I’m pretty sure most of the detentions that have happened lately haven’t been because of people doing anything wrong, and I don’t know that Hanna isn’t right about them using the Imperius curse on us either.” She was 90% certain that Professor Le Roux, at least, was a Dark wizard, and she was pretty sure that, even if the headmaster had been a former Auror, he’d gone bad since.

Not that Maxton had any better ideas, because he didn't. He'd just come to accept that this was how things were gonna be from now on. Sure, S.O.R.E still sucked and so did a bunch of the other new rules but........

"At least we're not getting possessed by who knows what or getting attacked by inferi anymore," the Slytherin piped up moodily, rolling his eyes at the delusional bunch before finding himself a spot to sit with his books.

He flipped open his Charms textbook and started reading. Listen, if he was going to struggle up to the seventh floor with all his textbooks he was going to try and do SOME studying at least.

When Patrick spoke, her blonde head bobbed up and down. They needed to be smart about this.

"Here me out," Nora spoke finally. "While rebelling outwardly does send a clear message, I don't think that alone is going to be enough. Students have been breaking the rules all year, and that hasn't seemed to stop them."

Now, she wasn't saying no to acts of rebellion. It all served a purpose, one which she did understand. But there needed to be something more.

"Pushing buttons can continue, but it is the reactions that need to be documented to shed some light on what is happening at Hogwarts. We need multiple written accounts, our memories vialed up, photographs of what is happening need to be taken, any sort of proof that more harm than good is taking place here. These need to be collected and snuck out of the school and put in the hands of people who can actually do something about the situation."
Stuff is happening in Professor Petrov's tent too with Professor Petrov ATTacking students , professors crashing in and Scrimegour arriving even....

SPOILER!!: Petrovs tent

You can bet that she had waited until Petrov was away to come here.

Aretha lowered her bag, unzipped it and reached into it. From it emitted soft clanking- the sound of cans being knocked about. A second later, a can of spray paint came away in her neatly manicured hands. A small, evil smile graced her pretty face.

Defacing the stupid tent?

Count her in.

Aretha crept forward until she was right in front of it. Knowing that she possibly didn't have much time, rather rude and obnoxious words were started to get drawn in large letters.

Aretha finished off yet another rather rude word before turning to face Jessa. “Want a can? I’ve got a ton!’’ She jiggled the bag causing the cans to clank against each other. And yes, the Head Girl’s questions were deliberately ignored. “We’ve got to work fast though. I reckon old Alek will be back soon.’’

What happened in the next few seconds left her entirely blind sided. The Professor showed up, his wand was out, there was chains flying....a loud, shrill scream that she didn't realize was her own....and a searing pain shooting up her arm that she couldn't explain while her brain tried make sense of it all.

A glance down at her arm revealed bright, red marks in the wake of the burns left from the stinging hex. The shock of it all likely dulled the pain in the first few seconds.

Fight or flight? Forget those, Jessa's first instinct in crisis was to freeze, as she continued to do now. The situation had escalated quickly and she didn't know what to do. The wand at the idiot girl's neck was definitely an issue...one as Head Girl she was probably meant to deal with.......but "P-P-Professor..." was about as much as she could get out as the anxiety quickly moved in and the shock quickly moved out giving full vent to the pain of that hex.

Her blood went cold when he turned his gaze to her.

Don’t move???? That was kind of the plan?????????? Even if she wanted nothing more than to bolt for dear life, her feet remained firmly fixed and in the wake of that warning, they didn’t have plans to be anywhere else. The girl felt quite ill in ways that had nothing to do with the pain shooting up her arm and it likely showed in her face that began to lose its colour.

Another step on her anxiety ladder? Him saying her not stopping the girl was worse than helping. It wouldn’t have gotten this high but the man’s wand was now drawn and she’d already been burned something fierce by that stinging hex. Everything about this told her this wasn’t just another routine “you’re in trouble, 50 million trillion points from your house and you have detention”. No. This felt different. There was a hidden menace to it and it was doing terrible things to her nerves.

So nope, not moving a muscle. Hardly even breathing as the swelling began where the hex had hit.

Aretha bound in chains; Petrov holding his wand to her throat; Jessa obviously hit with a stinging jinx and seemingly frozen... though he didn't know whether it was caused by anxiety or another spell from Petrov. It took all of half a second for him to realize what was happening, and the shock gave way to burning anger. This man - and he was using the term very generously, as no real man would ever subject a child to this - this regime had hurt his students for the last time! Gaston was done playing nice!

"Petrov..." he growled through clenched teeth as he stood in front of Jessa. "ENOUGH!" His eyes clouded dangerously, and a dark vein bulged in his temple. He wasn't going to even entertain the notion of trying to plead or reason with this psychopath! Judging by the situation, it wouldn't do any good. Besides, he wasn't interested in hearing Petrov justify his actions. No, talk was cheap; this time he was going to let his wand do the talking. For once in his life, sweet, kind Gaston Marchand had no compassion to offer!

He pointed his wand at Petrov, intending to disarm, but changed his mind at the last minute. If he missed, Petrov could retaliate, and spells would go flying with the two girls in the crossfire. He would deal with this piece of filth later. Instead, he aimed at Aretha's chains and cried, "Emancipare!" Hoping against hope that it worked, he shot her a look, jerking his head as if to say, Get behind me if you can!

"Protego Duo!" Gaston glared at Petrov from behind the shield he cast, eyes burning with cold angry fire, silently warning the other man not to even think about hurting his students again. "If you want them, you'll have to go through me!" he spat, gripping his wand tighter, poised to react if Petrov tried anything.

"What is happening here?! Put your wands down!" she commanded sharply, striding over to stand somewhere in the middle of the ground between Gaston and Petrov, but glaring at Petrov. "What did you do this time, minion?" she snapped.

Obviously this was directed at Petrov.

Her hair was becoming wild looking and ever so quickly, it was getting more difficulty to breathe, especially after she had literally just yelled at Petrov. Aretha did not even have any more energy to defend Jessa.

Hey, were those stars winking before her eyes?

Yes, they were.

The lack of oxygen to her brain was quickly making her want to pass out.

Maybe she was imagining things but the sixth year was quite sure she heard Professors Marchand’s and O’Hara’s voices.

The screaming drew his attention to the tent. Being a knowledgeable man, he knew screaming always meant trouble. Children were up to no good.

When he arrived at the scene of the crime, the headmaster could hardly believe what he was seeing. A student was bound tightly in chains, the Head Girl looked like she was in pain, another child was on her knees, Petrov had his wand at a students' throat, Marchand was pointing his wand at Petrov, and O'Hara was just standing there. For Merlin's sake... If a child was breaking school rules, there was a strict protocol that was to be followed. And what were professors drawing their wands at each other? Did they need a reminder of what happened the last time such a thing happened?

"All of you, enough," the old man croaked, the book forgotten for the moment. His eyes then darted over to the adults. He didn't care what the children had to say. "Explain what is going on here." All he saw before him was incompetency at handling a situation and a mess that he was going to have to clean up.

"Headmaster, I found these two," he pointed to the girl he didn't know (Aretha), and the Head Girl, "at my tent. This one," he pointed at the unknown girl, "was defiling my tent with spray paint as you can see, and the Head Girl was standing idly by letting her do it." He paused to think about how to proceed. "Unfortunately, I let my anger get the best of me by wielding my wand against an insolent child who was extremely disrespectful as you can see by the disgusting words she left all over my abode." He said in a silky smooth voice, though the anger was subtly there.

He looked over at the other professors, "Then these two showed up as well as Miss Kettleburn, and then you arrived. Nothing further has transpired." Though he wondered if he could use one quick curse on Marchand.....

Too risky.

Her skin felt like it could come right off at any minute—or rather like she’d love to have it removed so the pain would stop.

Jessa blinked over at the charms professor’s back, him suddenly standing before her. In the next second, she took a few steps back to distance herself from him. O’hara’s arrival didn’t help one bit. The detention, while uneventful, was still fresh in her mind. She remembered quite clearly saying the school was now filled with Scrimgeour pleasers. Those who were not, had already gotten themselves fired. What remained, did as the man said. It made it hard to trust any of them.

Her calling Petrov a minion was laughable for that very reason—or would’ve been if she wasn’t in so much pain—because she’d also said she did as the man wanted and was in his good graces. As far as Jessa was concerned, she was one of them. This was all an act. It was likely all an act.

The skepticism grew within her, causing her to take another step or two back from them all. That’s when Chloe showed up. Merlin, did she know how to remove skin?? No doubt Jessa would be able to regrow new one later but just...Circe make this burning stop! “If you won’t take it off, don’t touch it.” She managed to get out, making no attempts to clarify that she meant the skin itself. Her whole thought process was a mess right now.

And then Scrimgeour showed up. What honestly was today? Could so many things go wrong at once?

Yes, apparently they could if Petrov’s version of events was anything to go by. “I didn’t stand there watching her.” She tried through gritted teeth. “I was on my way to the stables and saw her. I stopped to make her stop then he stormed over and starting throwing hexes without questions .” Jessa paused then to look at the unconscious girl. The misguided fool. “Not that it matters. He’s your hire. He’s above the law and above reproach. You said that, remember? Reckon Professor Marchand’s about to lose his job, Professor O’Hara too for daring to get in his way when he’s got your blessing to do as he likes.”

While he was at it, could he fire her too? From school? She would very much like to go home now permenantly.

If you thought that was enough? Think again a sauce covered Professor Ainsworth in the Great Hall has really hurt students too and Professor Le Roux didn't help with his threats and sneering! Bad men! Professor Davis and Wishart is on the scene with the students trying to help.

SPOILER!!: Great Hall action

Rubbing her eyes and stifling a yawn, she turned to make her way towards her table, spotted Zoryn Spinnet and began to turn to the other end when she noticed Ainsworth there. From the expression on his face, Sylvie instantly knew he was doing his thing again. Ugh, she hated him more than all the other professors combined, he's the worst.

Inching closer, because she doesn't know how to stay away from bad situations, Sylvie's frown deepened as she caught the end of his words. "She doesn't have to eat the soup just because you tell her to," she pointed out as she joined the group, looking defiantly at the sorry excuse of a muggle studies professor. Sorry excuse for a wizard. Sorry excuse for a MAN. Ha.

Shaking her head in reply the Gryffindor spoke, “hardly.” The soup was HORRIBLE. “It’s almost as bitter as Fletcher.”

Her eyes brightened as Chloe offered up her pudding, but the mood quickly dampened as Rafferty made his way over just a few seconds later. It’s like he was desperate to make friends, but too awkward to know how. The man was always sticking around her like a trail of liquid glue. Zoryn rolled her eyes while he was still behind her and couldn’t see her face, but put on a grand show of greeting him with a smile. “Hi Professor,” yuck. “Even better idea, I’ll split my soup with you! We can go halfsies.” GRIN. She’d rather shove it down his obscenely tight pants. “Sharing would be good practice for me. Since I’m so spoiled and all… Don’t you think, Chloe?”

While Zoryn was busy being the most clever 17 year-old on the face of this planet, a few others had joined them. An audience! Wonderful. And Sylvie. Even more wonderful. ugh gross.

Zor was absolutely certain her dormmate would be very smug about the circumstances she had waltz into, but instead…. Sylvie did something surprising. She had stood up for Zoryn once more. This took the Beater by surprise, her facial expression faltered for just a moment as she just stared at Sylvie in shock before turning her head back to Rafferty. Zor would think about the implications of this moment later. Because currently, there were more annoying matters at hand.

Like this bland, tasteless, sorry excuse for a human being and exemplary substitute for plain, white bread: Rafferty Ainsworth.

YEAH, WHAT SHE SAID.

Ainsworth? More like PAINSworth. Boom.

Book burner and killer of souls in the very flesh.

"It isn't that she must have my pudding, sir, but that I'm offering it to her. We're very good friends and I like to share with her." In fact, in spite of the fact that this was a Slytherin at her own table, the sixth year Ravenclaw seated herself beside the girl and placed her pudding on Zoryn's tray.

"Here, give me that soup to finish. I've been so busy today and I'm starving, and because you are so good at sharing, I know you'll give it to me." She wiggled her fingers to claim the soup bowl. Rafferty’s lips curled. Did Spinnet think that she could get to him? Get on his nerves? Frustrate him? How wrong she was. Rafferty was usually as cool as a cucumber. “Oh no. I could not possibly take your soup and rob you of that nutritious meal. No no. I insist you have it all.’’

Also, Ravenclaw was totally winning the cup this year, so the point loss didn't bother her much either. What DID bother her was his cruelty. His stupid, needless, baseless cruelty. In fact, Sylvie Norcott was starting to think that Scrimgeour HIMSELF would find Ainsworth appalling, because of how stupid he is. Scrimgeour did not like stupid people. Perhaps she should tell him.

Foster's grip on his wand tightened as he positioned himself between Rafferty and the students as much as possible. "Have you lost your mind? How dare you pull your wand on these students!"

His eyes briefly left Professor Ainsworth to glance at Sylvie. "Are you okay, Ms. Norcott? Do you require medical attention? Has anyone else been injured?" He had entered just moments after the spells were cast and was unaware of the circumstances leading up to the incident. No matter the reason, no professor should ever harm a student. It was completely unacceptable.

He glared at the Scrimgeour hired goon. "There is no explanation possible that will make this acceptable. I highly suggest you remove yourself from the Great Hall before you find yourself on the receiving end of a far worse spell than you have been casting at these students." Foster rarely resorted to violence, but he was willing to do whatever it took to keep the students safe.

Tie her up and give her detention, perhaps.

Then again, with that initial hex against Sylvie, Ainsworth had already crossed a line. And now he'd crossed all the lines, sending out a slew of hexes at uninvolved students and innocent bystander. Chloe herself was hit on her non-wand arm, and it immediately began to swell and sting, a raging red welt rising where her sleeve had been split. It hurt like the devil, but Chloe was more interested in getting to Sylvie, especially now that Professor Davis was on the scene.

He could take care of Ainsworth, right? Chloe scrabbled along the floor to where Sylvie was laying. "Sylvie. Can you hear me? Just be calm, and we'll put some ice on it for now. It'll help numb the pain." She ripped her dangling sleeve loose and cast a Glacius to it before pressing it gently against the reddest welts.

The Gryffindor let out an excruciating scream, but otherwise she managed to stay silent. Her stubborn nature was the only thing that kept her from whimpering.. Skin. Was. Burning. It was the most pain she had ever been in. Her body had gone limp. She wanted nothing more than to fall into oblivion.

The beater could feel her whole body swelling in turn, but after a few short seconds the sheer amount of pain was so great that she had honestly stopped feeling anything at all. Tears welled in her eyes as she dug her nails into her palms. There was no way anyone would see her in tears.

Despite the fact that she kept her eyes closed and her senses were overloaded by this excruciating physical pain, she could faintly hear other voices joining their circle.

After what felt like ages (a few minutes in reality), Zoryn’s legs gave out beneath her body and she buckled down to the ground.

Sylvie was trying to get her wand out of its holster, trying to do as Chloe said, when she noted with muted horror that Zoryn was out. Other students were around now too, but Sylvie's watery, squinted gaze had moved now to the two adults still present. At least now she had her wand in her hand.

It didn't feel safe to be ignoring Ainsworth, and yet, with so many professors on the scene who didn't agree with how he was behaving and so many students injured and Chloe herself fighting back tears, she was willing to let him be. Professor Foster wouldn't let anything happen to them.

Foster quickly filled him in on the situation. In another circumstance Joshua would have made a shocked face and noise at hearing what Ainsworth had done to the students but there was no time for that. Taking up his wand he mumured "Expecto Patronum!" and watched for a second how his unicorn galloped out of the great hall to find Healer McMillan. Hopefully she’d make haste to get there.

Crouching down on his knees next to Chloe it was hard for Professor Wishart to miss seeing the pitiful look in the sixth years eyes as he heard behind him how Foster tried to get Ainsworth to leave. Reaching out to pet Chloe on the arm gently he reassured. "I'm here to help all of you Chloe. Haven’t you been taught Finite Incantatem in Charms class? It's usually the go to spell for reversing most jinxes, hexes and curse effects." The look of Zoryn and Sylvie crumpled figures though made Joshua think that there would probably be more healing needed to fix what had been done to them. Gripping his wand tighthly he murmured "Finite Incantatem!" as he directed and cast spells both at Zoryn and Sylvie hoping it’d ease their discomfort until Madam McMillan could arrive.

Joshua was about to turn his attention to Bettie when he heard the unmistakable sneering voice of one Gustave Le Roux. He detested that man as much as any of Scrimegour’s goons. Straightening up he turned to face the other man wishing his eyes could shoot daggers as he answered hotly, anger rising. "No, these student’s can’t care for themselves Professor Le Roux. Can’t you see that they are hurting badly? They need our help to get to the hospital wing for treatment right now."

Professor Wishart was about to turn to the students again when Gustave had the audacity to threaten him and Chloe which made him even more furious as he moved slightly to block Chloe from view as he tightened the grip on his wand once more, facing Gustave. "Don’t threaten me Le Roux or the student’s in this school. I will report this to the BoG and i will make sure you regret it if you raise your wand to attack me or the students around us. I strongly suggest you leave the Great Hall right now with your pal Professor Ainsworth. Neither of you are welcome here."

Beckoning Bettie to come over to him with his left hand Professor Wishart said calmly, understanding that the young slytherin was probably both scared and shocked. "Ice will ease the pain and make your nose stop bleeding until Healer McMillan get’s here." Holing his wand out over his open hand he murmured "Glacius!" conjuring up a small globe of ice which he held out to Bettie. "Here put it on your nose for a little while. It’ll help. Are you sure you aren’t hurt anywhere else?"

The Gryffindor didn’t regain consciousness until a few moments after ‘finite’ was cast. Slowly she began to open her eyes, feeling mildly dizzy and very sore. She did try to make eye contact with Sylvie and Chloe, but ultimately decided to close her eyes again.

There was nothing she wanted to do more than ACTUALLY kick Ainsworth in his ~~manhood~~ but fortunately for that block of cheese, she was in far too much pain to stand up. The hex had hit both her body and legs. And she was 100% not doing okay.

"My arm was hit too, Bettie. Here, lemme see if this makes it feel better," Chloe pointed her wand at the girl's arm and cast Finite Incantatem. It couldn't hurt, at least. "Maybe you could do my arm? And keep that ice on your nose for now. I know it hurts." Being bossy helped calm her down. That was probably why most people went into teaching around here, right?

She kept her wand loose and ready on the off chance these bozos kept after them in spite of their professorial barricade. If she had to defend Sylvie and Zoryn and Bettie, then she was ready this time. Maybe a nice Tarantallegra. She'd like to see Ainsworth do the Cha-cha Slide.

Wands drawn at each other, Spinnet out (not necessarily a bad thing on its own but there was certainly an issue of conduct here), burns? Threats? The man lowered the apple he’d carried along from the kitchen, stunned at first but quickly regaining his composure at the mention of reporting this to the BoG. “That won’t be necessary, Wishart.” He said, moving into the room with his own calm. If he was disturbed by everything around him, it didn’t show in his expression as he calmly walked up to Le Roux and nudged his wand down with his hand.

“We’ve all gotten a little heated and forgotten ourselves. It must be the impending summer.” He spared a glance about the room, irked beyond what showed on his expression. What honestly were they doing? Were they aware of the image this would cast on Scrimgeour. Something like this getting out would be....inconvenient, to say the least.

”None of this needs to leave the Great Hall. Le Roux, Ainsworth, I’d been hoping to get your help with a few things back in my office. He turned to Foster and Wishart. “I trust you can handle this minor situation appropriately and it won’t need to be brought any further. I’d hate for further re-evaluations to be done.” Scrimgeour might suddenly find himself needing to fire more people if they caught his drift.

“Gentlemen.” He gestured toward the door before heading there himself. Not once did he stop to properly look at the state of the students, it would only aggravate him further. This wasn’t acceptable behaviour, but he wouldn’t go publicly scolding. It was important to maintain ranks.

Davis took a step forward and Rafferty matched it with one of his own. The wand clenched in his fist was raised even higher. “What if I refuse, Davis?’’ The question came out in a menacing growl.

The arrival of Calvin did not improve Rafferty’s mood. Dueling Davis was what he wanted to do more than anything. Not even Wishart mentioning the Board of Governors was going to detour him. Only Calvin could do that because he was Scrimgeour’s right hand man.

Rafferty maintained his stance for a full half a minute. A nasty hate filled glare was thrown at Davis before Rafferty moved exit the Great Hall. The other Hogwartians got no further attention from him.

To is great relief, Calvin entered and called off the goon squad. Foster had never been so happy to see the man and almost laughed at the glare Rafferty threw his way. It took every bit of his professionalism to not give a taunting toodaloo wave as Professor Ainsworth moved to exit the Great Hall. "Don't you worry yourself, Professor Fletcher, Professor Wishart and I are more than capable of taking care of this so called minor incident. You and your fellow professors have far greater things to worry about."

With Rafferty out of the way and La Roux's lowered wand, Foster spun around to help the injured students as best he could until the healer arrived. He looked to Joshua "What do you need from me?" He looked to see which students still needed attention, but Joshua and Chloe seemed to have it under control. Bettie was being helped by Chloe, Zoryn seemed to be coming to next to Sylvie and the others after Joshua's help.

"How did all of this even start?" He asked Joshua, not expecting his fellow professor to have any more of an idea than he did. "And, if that..." He caught himself before saying a word that shouldn't be said around students. "If Calvin seriously thinks that this incident won't be reported, he's a bigger fool that I thought. As soon as everyone is taken care of, you and I have an owl to send."

The stupid former Astronomy teacher got fired for having tea on the grounds.

Tea...

Just Tea.

Surely it would be easy to get rid of this guy? After he sent a nice stinging hex his way? Or perhaps something worse? He wondered how well the Healer knew the counter curse to sectumsempra?

He was in the middle of deciding which spell to use when Calvin came over and nudged his wand hand down.

Le Roux just shrugged and with a quick twirl his wand was back it its holster and he was turning to leave.

“It must be the impending summer.” He sneered at the other two Professors.

“Evening.” And with that he was turning and heading off after Fletcher.
