NaNoWriMo 2020 Chat Thread

Welcome to NaNoWriMo 2020!

:quill:

November is almost upon us, bringing with it a National Novel Writing Month. Are you planning to take part in NaNoWriMo 2020? Maybe you're still trying to make your mind up, or perhaps you just want to cheer other writers along. If you are taking part, are you going to do a 'custom' project, with a goal different to the standard 50,000 words, or stick with the classic challenge? Whatever your NaNoWriMo thoughts, this thread is the place to share them. We'll be open here from now until the end of November.

Also in this forum we have several threads for you to explore, including some resources and FAQ, and an area where you can share your NaNoWriMo username and background, and make some new writing buddies.

If you would like to let your fellow SnitchSeeker members know you are participating in NaNoWriMo this year, why not check out these graphics, provided by site members over the years. Here is also where you can look at book cover art from years past. For those who have bought official NaNoWriMo merchandise in the past, there's also a thread for you to show it off.

We have a thread devoted to characters too. Want to discuss your NaNoWriMo characters, post a biography, try to flesh them out a little more, or simply discuss your process in creating and writing characters in your project? This is the thread for you.

Last but not least, don't forget to share your progress with us. In the word count thread, you can share your personal goal (the standard 50,000 words or whatever you've chosen) for this year's NaNoWriMo and update your word count as you go.

Once November is underway, feel free to continue using this thread to talk to others about your project, share your writing process and habits, despair about writers block or hitting that dreaded wall, find and give support or encouragement, and chat anything NaNoWriMo that doesn't belong in one of these other threads.

Be sure to follow all SnitchSeeker site rules and Honeydukes rules.

Have fun, be excellent to each other, and good luck!

I discovered it's been 7 years since I finished a WriMo! Lololol. I'm determined that this year I can at least reach 25k.

Two hrs a day this November, woohoo!

yesssss :whaa: I always like to use NaNoWriMo as a way of getting my writing brain in gear so theoretically it's no big if I don't hit that 50k but I always want to anyway

I've already declared my project on the official site but haven't actually decided what I'm writing for sure yet, so I guess the plan I throw together today will be my first instalment of words

anyway, let's get this thing sTaRTeD

Magical Soul 11-01-2020 02:52 PM

IDK what I'm writing this year either :xd: BUT, as a genius move on my part, I've decided to write a 'collection of short stories' of all the ideas I have floating around my head. Hopefully one will feel right and I can expand on it in later years!

I'm trying to convince myself this isn't cheating xD

I haven't done a nano since.... 2015 like truly invested in it. I decided i'm at least going to participate this year to see what i've got in me.

littledhampir 11-01-2020 07:12 PM

I don't know if trying to write a novel in the middle of law school is the best idea I've every had... but you know what why now. I'm going to not get too stressed about word count and goals (or try not to anyway) and just try to do the writing thing. So we'll see how it goes.

Lissy Longbottom 11-02-2020 03:36 AM

I definitely said - INSISTED even - that I wasn't going to do NaNo this year and yet here I am...coming up with a last minute outline to try and do it this year

Felixir 11-03-2020 10:39 PM

I know we're only a few days in but how goes it, friends? :whaa:

turns out I'm being a NaNo Rebel again this year and working on three different projects in one document so if I run out of steam or hit the wall with one, I have two other options to switch to until the inspiration hits again

and in the end I went for the same thing I seem to do every year and am writing up the backstories of some of my RP characters in prose. my snitchseeker characters are currently the main thing I know I can write an frankly obscene amount of words about so... if it ain't broke, etc, etc

aLSO I think my personal goal this go around is to keep writing until I finish the project(s). last year I hit 50k and immediately trailed off so this time I just want some finished drafts, regardless of word count (but I'm just unnecessarily wordy when I write so if all three do get finished... it's unlikely to be under 50k) (yikes)

Lissy Longbottom 11-04-2020 01:30 AM

I think I have a solid outline. This is the sequel to one of my earlier NaNo novels and I didn't really have a full outline until yesterday  BUT I think it's going well? I think I have enough to at least get a bare bones draft done in 50k :whaa:

siriusblackliveson 11-04-2020 08:13 PM

so far so good. I'm working on an idea I had a few months ago, but i'm just not sure where it will go or if i'll finish it. may become a rebel. Just so thankful that my local group has switched to discord so we have an easier way to communicate.

:lmao:

this was why I didn't even try! Remember that paper I told you I had to write? Well I have to put together a presentation on it by the 30th and uhhhhhhhh the paper is not done.

I love my life! Procrastination! At! Its! Finest! :exciterainbow:

Good luck to all y'all in these last 5 days heh heh heh heh

Felixir 11-25-2020 06:39 PM

maybe next year, Laila? :whaa: are you going to keep working on your stuff til the month ends?

and u know, Ro, make that presentation 50k words long (perfectly practical for a presentation don't look at me like that) and you can call it a completed NaNoWriMo project at the same time  maybe the whole five days left thing might be an issue but shhh

I hit 50,000 words yesterday :elmofire: but it was a struggle cause about a week and a half ago I suddenly lost motivation and it was a fite to continue. I didn't do what I wanted and actually work to finish any drafts but at least I now have a few RP character backstories outlined in detail

Magical Soul 11-30-2020 10:05 AM

:xd: Yeah, def next year.

Congrats to everyone who made it to 50k or their set goal!! :sprinklelove: :glomp:'s
