The big day was finally here. On the afternoon of August, 31st, 2086, the Fulham Palace in West London was humming with the preparations of Ludovicus Bones and January Pennifold wedding. The neatly dressed valets were situated on each corner of the ceremonial hall. As the guests walk into the hall, they are greeted and seen to by either the bride or the groom's family members, they are then encouraged to leave hearty messages for the soon-to-be husband and wife at the guestbook table.
The after-party will be taking place outside in the Tulip garden where a luxurious tent has been put up specifically for the occasion. Guests will be able to sit and chat at their assigned tables, dance in the center, and taste delicious cuisines chosen by the groom and bride themselves.
Lastly, please have a great time and refrain from making dramatic scenes in the middle of a happy occasion. The Bones are pleased to share this grand day with you.

Today was a very exciting day for the Pennifolds. Katherine, January's older sister, and her daughter Willa had already been there for a few hours, helping the bride to be get ready for her big day. It was emotional for Kat watching her little sister get ready, knowing this had been a dream of hers since she was a little girl. A dream that had almost come true nearly a decade ago, but was finally coming true today to the right man. She had only met Vic a few times, but she could feel their love for each other and was actually rather envious of it. Nevertheless, Kat was happy and excited for this big day.
Once the bride was ready, Kat and her 15 year old daughter left her to finish preparing upstairs. Their father was up there with her. It was quite emotional not having their mother with her, but Kat knew she was happy for her, wherever she was outside of this world.
"Don't forget to smile," Kat said to her daughter as the two redheads entered the small ceremony hall. It was no doubt they were related to January, simply shown by their red hair. "Guests should be arriving soon." And she did have to remind this girl to smile. It didn't come natural for her.
Her dress was uncomfortable and itchy, but she kind of looked good in it. She wasn't really fashion forward though, so she could be wrong. Willa hadn't been much help in getting her aunt Jan ready for the wedding, so she had snuck off to explore before her mom found her and drug her back.
The fifteen year old put on her BEST smile (which was rather pathetic) and stood by her mother. FINALLY, it was about to begin. She'd been up since, like, SEVEN this morning. She was ready for the I-do's and cake, guys.

Willy was here! He was dressed up! He was... alone! For now! But he was ready to have a good time and celebrate his best friend January. He was just maybe not all that prepared to see her come down the aisle yet. He'd just... just need a few moments.
Yeah. A few moments to himself would be good. He signed in at the guest table and then stood awkwardly by, wondering how close to the front, back, or middle he should sit? Obviously he'd have to be on the bride's side, no offense to Vic Mr. Perfect Bones... ooh look, more redheads. Were they related to JanJan?! Cute. Pennifolds. Heh. No. Don't get distracted, William, pick a place to sit!!
He scrubbed at his forehead and hurried down the side aisle, NOT the center aisle, picking a seat on the end in the middle of the bride's side. There. Done.

Lucie was unwanted. She felt like a fifth wheel with the bride and bride's family, her brother was stupid, her other brother wasn't around yet, and her date was missing... weddings were generally the worst, but today, when she was traumatized beyond belief by the betrayal of the person she loved the most, today was the worst of the worst.
The worstest, even.
She was looking for the cake, hoping to take a swipe from the bottom tier to quell the tight, hot feeling that not crying was giving her. Instead, she found William. Her date. He looked a little traumatized too, though, so she dropped into the seat beside him and put her head on his shoulder.

Weddings were never her scene, if it could be said that she even had a scene to begin with. Nevertheless, despite the distance - not that such things mattered - and despite the need wear a dress, she was here. Of course she wasn't alone, and with her fingers interlocked with Gavin's, Emily passed the family's by with pleasantries and claimed herself a seat in a middle row on Vic's side. The man was going through with it, the institution of marriage... good for him.
"I'll bet you five galleons he cries," she whispered, leaning her head in toward Gavin's.
Vic always did seem a more sentimental person than most others you might have found in the MLE. Warm, approachable, jovial... he possessed so many outwardly good personality traits that she would be surprised if a tear or two didn't meet his eyes.

He wasn't going to touch that guestbook. At a time of what was meant to be obvious 'joy', as some thought it was, the last thing a happy couple would want to read would be the cynnical words of one Gavin Isaacs. That being the case, Gavin was content to hold on to Emily's hand and let her lead them over to their seats. There was very little worry in letting her choose, knowing full well the front was never her idea of 'fun' when it came to this sort of thing.
Comfortably seated, his arm wrapped around the back of her chair, somewhat resting on her shoulder (though he WAS careful about her hair) however the man couldn't help the half snort at her gamble. "It's hardly a bet if you know the outcome." Gavin didn't know that much about the man, he didn't know much about most people but Emily was making a safe bet. "Seven says that half of the hall pulls some waterworks too." Bride's family, it seemed to be a thing.
Also, was it just him or had he been attending quite too many weddings recently. It was slightly unnerving.

Levi tugged at his bowtie. He has never liked wearing these chokers, neither a penguin suit for that matter, but hey its big bro's special day, so yeah today is an exception.
He looked around and tried to take it in. Oh look baby sister is right there flirting with some bloke. Part of him wanted to bound over and say something that would add more blush to her already pink cheeks but hey, she might have him thrown out. And that would just plain suck. Because then he wouldn’t be able to stuff himself stupid with food.
So the former Gryffindor made his way by the side of the hall and peeked around for his brother. He was never good at these protocols type things. What was he supposed to be doing now-- sit? Stand? Holler the name out like in a fight arena? What?

What a lovely turnout for such a special occasion! Harmony Skylark was soaking up all of the good vibes as she made her way over to the bride's side, eager to see the red head make her way down the aisle. And look, another familiar face! The department head waved at William and gave him one of her serene smiles. Was that his girlfriend? Aw! No wonder his aura was a bright pink right now.
"You two are sweet!" And love was in the air, it seemed.

William was busy looking at the decorations and things and pretending not to be curious if Lucie was helping Jan get ready... actually, it was funny that he was thinking of her, because like a good dream... she appeared beside him.

And he tried not to grin too much to himself. No no, he was not on a date here; he was the date. The good guy. The friend of the bride, right right. She'd said she wanted to RUN AWAY with him THOUGH. Completely thinking of himself, and not at all of how this wedding might be making Lucie feel, William casually draped his arm around her shoulder.
"Can we take some cake with us though?"

Levi fooled no one. He looked dapper and ready to support their brother, but Lucie was still pretty sure that Levi was ten steps closer to getting into trouble then even she could give him credit for. And he was making eyes at her, like he wanted to come over here.
Nope. Just a nod and a wave, and she gestured toward where she thought they might be hiding the food. Go look for food, bro. Leave terrified William alone. "My brother is here."

William was SO... adorable. Really. Even with Levi making eyes at them, and a strange woman trying to sit between them, and it being the worst day ever. Of all time. Ever ever ever. She pinched his cheek lightly.
"I haven't found it yet, but if you see it, I'm all in." She needed cake in the worst way. And a hug, so that arm around her was very much appreciated. Lucie settled against him with an appreciative little sigh. Hugs were nice. Handsome man hugs were very nice.
"Don't make promises you won't keep. You're too good a man to run out on your best friend's wedding."

It was a good thing the chairs were comfortable, because these things tended to take longer that one would imagine. Fashionably late was a common theme among brides it seemed, clearly they didn't value punctuality. Gavin's arm also afforded her some comfort as she leaned her shoulder into the crook of his arm, a hand on his knee.
"On the contrary, it's a smart bet, there are no certainties in life, Gavin." Tears too could come when someone least expected them, and simply not come at all when it was. With regard to his counter-bet, she spared a glance over her shoulder to where some where standing and others were seated. "Weddings tend to have that effect on most." Why, she could never understand.
Vic was sitting in his groom room in the palace staring at a specific corner of the wall. He wasn't deep in thought or suffering from nerves, he was... stunned. His eyes were wide as if in shock and his hands were gripping his jacket like a lifesaver. He was getting married. Today. It was his wedding. Today. He was settling down. Today. To January. They were going to be a family together. He was... happy? That word didn't do what he was feeling justice. He was euphoric. Yes, that was better.
A knock on the door startled him, he jumped to his feet. "I'm here!" He shouted, feeling the need to confirm his presence. Nobody was running away on this wedding, nuh-uh. No way. It was just his valet informing him that the ceremony was about to begin. Vic nodded confidently and put on his jacket. He took a deep breath and took one last look in the mirror at Single Him then headed out of the room towards the tent outside.
The tent was as beautiful as the wedding planner and Jan told him it would. Vic spotted everyone, his former boss and her man looking so congruous and attractive together, there were his in-laws so red-headed and radiating, and his sister ON WILLY'S SHOULDER?? and brother. The latter got a serious eyeballing from him that should say 'go sit with Lucie and watch over her bloke' because Vic was kinda busy here getting married. Although Levi had his best man's duties, too. Oh what a predicament. There was a lively lady from the ministry, Vic knew her as Jan's friend and boss, she received a soft smile and a nod from him. Everybody did, really, even Lucie's date but he didn't talk to anyone, the music was already playing and people at the front were taking their places in preparation for the bride to make an entrance.
Vic took his position, folded his hands and turned to look where Jan's supposed to walk in; Heart racing, sweat trickling down his back, but evidently beside himself with joy and anticipation.

The cues were starting and there was the groom. She gave the handsome younger man a smile as he took his place up front. Getting more cues, Kat placed her hand on her daughter's back and led them up front to stand off to the Pennifold side, a few feet away from where January would be in just a couple minutes. Kat wasn't really a control freak, but she wanted her little sister's wedding to go perfectly, so her eyes followed the Bones' to make sure they were following suit on their side of the hall.
Then the music started.
She was finally ready and everyone was finally done fussing about her hair and make up. She wanted everything to be easy and simple, and for the most part it was. But now the prepping and waiting was over. She was alone in her room taking deep, steady breaths. Admittedly, January was nervous. She wasn't about to get cold feet and run out, but she was a little nervous that she'd get caught on the carpet and fall flat on her face in front of the whole crowd.
January stood from the plush sofa and cleared those silly fears from her mind. Stepping in front of the mirror, she smoothed out her wedding dress again and inspected herself. A proper bride. There was a knock on the door and January's heart jumped. "Come in," she said, knowing it was her father. She gave him a smile and tried her very best not to tear up. Just recently she had to wonder if her dad would be able to walk her down the aisle, considering his condition. But today was a good day for him. He didn't know it, but his nurse was hiding among their side of the wedding guests. Just in case. January crossed the room to give her dad a hug.
Gregory entered the room at her approval... and immediately starting choking up. To see his daughter in a wedding dress on the happiest day of her life was a dream come true. To walk her down the aisle was another. He wrapped his arms around his beautiful daughter, welcoming the hug. "You're mother would be proud," he murmured quietly to her.
After a few moments of hugging and after composing himself, Gregory held out his arm for January to take. If she was ready, then so was he.
January felt another small set of tears sting her eyes at his words. It was the third time today he had said that about her mother. She was unsure if he was just reassuring her or if he had forgotten he had already told her. Regardless, it made her happy to hear. She took his arm and a deep breath before grabbing her bouquet of flowers in her free hand. She walked with her father out of her dressing room and down the corridor until they finally arrived to the ceremony place.
They arrived at the end of the aisle where she could see Vic and their families straight ahead. The music started to play and her heart was pounding, but not because of the nerves anymore. She was excited, elated, and she wanted nothing more than to run down the aisle, say "I do" and run to Cancun. A small smile raised her lips as she met eyes with Vic. She'd be there next to him soon.

"Vic?" William craned his neck away from pretty Lucie and toward the back, but didn't see the groom enter yet. OH WAIT, there was another brother?!?! There WAS another brother. Willy had forgotten this... but... which man standing around here was THE other brother? The beard-ish one? The one with glasses? The one with a drink in his hand already?
He tried to straighten up, just slightly, without removing his arm from her shoulder. He was on guard now, for the brother, the brother he didn't know, who was suddenly much more frightening than the brother he DID know, even if he only knew Vic from his associations with Jan. What a word twist.
He smiled at Lucie's little sigh and pinch, wrinkling his nose in a most charming way because she was so charming, really, it was infectious. "No cake until the wedding's over, then, for the both of us." The music was starting now, and out of the corner of his eye, William spied the groom brother coming to take his place. So... that meant Lucie had to go now, yeah? Yeah. He gave her shoulder a reassuring squeeze and slowly withdrew his arm. "You should probably get to your place, Miss Bones. I'll see you later."
And it looked like they were parting just in time because not a moment later.... THERE was the BRIDE. Willy hurriedly stood up and faced the back, where the very radiant January was standing.

He wasn't sure he could completely agree with that, given he knew of some certainties in their lives but he let her have it all the same, deciding he didn't want her pulling away to argue the point. "Weddings have a string of effects on people." Like making them so happy they thought they were making the right choice. "Should have seen Victoria's." He might have brought that up as a subtle reminder of the fact she'd completely abandoned him then but you know.
Gavin watched Vic go down the aisle, imagining there must have been some nerves in play. The man didn't look relaxed. Oh yeah, best decision ever.
His attention turned to the end of the aisle when the music began and Jan made her entry. One of the first things to catch his eyes was the bright bouquet she carried. Why? Simple. He pulled Emily just a little closer, "Promise me you won't try catching that thing." Not that he thought she would but he used to think that was a safe bet. Now she was on about life being full of uncertainties and that bouquet was metaphoric poison.

Vic's eyes locked on his amazingly stunning bride across the aisle. A small smile tugged at his lips in return of her smile but he had a look of disbelief on his face, soon to be married to this beautiful woman was something not only overwhelming but a blessing, unspeakable happiness dawned over him calming his nerves. He folded his hands in front of him and faced January and her father, getting ready to take her in his arms and vow to be with her for the rest of his life.

The music started to play again and January's heartbeat started to increase. From excitement, mostly. Without much delay, her father tugged her arm and they slowly made their way down the aisle. January was grinning the whole way, her eyes locked on Vic's. Part of her couldn't believe this was finally, actually happening. Her teenage, hopeless romantic dream of getting married was coming true, and to the right person.
Once they reached the end of the aisle, January's father stepped aside and January took her place in front of Vic. She reached out to hold his hand and smiled at him. He looked very handsome in his wedding suit. He was always handsome, of course, even when he wore sweatpants, but he was particularly handsome today.
Jasper repeated this mantra several times. He had come alone thinking it unwise to invite even his best friend as she was going through something that he thought would be greatly aggravated by and Heather was...home.
After signing the guestbook, he'd taken a set indiscriminately, not immediately recognizing Miss Skylark from the Ministry to whom he sat the closest. There were a few faces he did recognize however once settled in his seat, former Unspeakable, Mr. Isaacs who he'd also seen at the start of the Ministry year and of course and the lift incident.
And he was there with Miss Browne, who, after his run-in with Mr. Rainey he thought wouldn't be unwelcome should she wish to resume her position at Law Enforcement. Though he didn't think Mr. Rainey and unpleasant man, he simply thought Miss Browne's style was more...Clear and direct.
He glanced over and that's when he noticed...
"Miss Skylark?" Perhaps all of the department heads at the time would've been invited. Jasper immediately felt less emotional. "You're looking lovely." He said, speaking across the few seats that separated them before getting up to move and close the gap. "You must promise me a dance later?" And if she didn't know the old champion hoofer would show her.
Vic didn't realize he was holding his breath until Jan came to stand directly in front of him, that was when he let out a nervous shaky breath. "You look... beautiful." It was a lame word but his mind couldn't conjure a better one. His hands gently took hers as the minister started the ceremonial speech.
It didn't feel like they were in front of a crowd, Vic felt it was just them and the background voice, his heart was strangely calm but he was sweating excessively and his hands were squeezing slightly. When it was his turn to talk, he cleared his throat. "When I came to the ministry, I was looking for a place to make a change." He swallowed and smiled wider. "I had no idea I was going to meet a woman that would change my life forever." A nervous chuckle escaped between those words. "I am grateful for that day I first saw you by the fountain, I learnt how to love someone wholly and unconditionally, and I will do everything in my power to keep this love alive for as long as there's life inside me." He placed a kiss on her hands ending his small speech.

His attention turned to the end of the aisle when the music began and Jan made her entry. One of the first things to catch his eyes was the bright bouquet she carried. Why? Simple. He pulled Emily just a little closer, "Promise me you won't try catching that thing." Not that he thought she would but he used to think that was a safe bet. Now she was on about life being full of uncertainties and that bouquet was metaphoric poison.
Weddings, most certainly did have a string of effects, and none that she was particularly interested in. She nodded her agreement to Gavin, and spared him a glance at the mention of Vic's wedding, female Vic's, clearly not her favourite 'Vic'. "I'm sorry I missed it, work can be so unpredictable like that." Her favourite excuse for all things that demand her social engagement. Of course, any crisis she could simply delegate the responsibility of to one of her seniors, but it was greatly satisfying getting things done right yourself.
It was easy to know things would be getting underway when Vic made his appearance, gracing them with his presence and looking handsome at the alter. Good for him. Furthermore, when the music began to play and all eyes immediately turned to the back to watch Jan make her grand entrance and walk down the aisle. She looked radiant, as all brides did on their 'special day'. Gavin's question encouraged her to smile more, and despite it being awfully tempting to make him squirm beside her, she reassured him nonetheless. "I promise."
Vic's vows were sweet, endearing... it was sure to have half the room in tears.
Can we pretend this is not a million years late? CARRY ON.

She couldn't stop grinning. Those that knew January knew that she was not one to grin for more than a few seconds at a time. This was the start of a new record right here. It wasn't hard to shut out everything but Vic. It felt like it was just the two of them. His words to her were sweet and simple and absolutely perfect. Funny, wasn't it, how they both had been looking for a change when they came to the Ministry. Also funny how they both changed each other's lives. Ever since that very first day at the fountain (though it was in no way love at first sight), her life had slowly been changing for the better because of him.
A small tear sat on her lower eyelids as she smiled at her almost-husband. To be honest, it had taken January quite a long time to come up with what she wanted to say to him at their wedding. Everything she came up with just sounded corny, but in the end she figured that it would all sound corny no matter what. Wedding were like that.
He was finished. January took a deep breath. "It's been a long time coming for this day. But every day, every argument, every disagreement was worth it and it was what we needed." January let out a small laugh at that moment, because there had been arguments, big and small. In fact, the biggest one was what had led to this moment. "I have loved you for a very long time and I will continue to love you. I need you in my life, more than I need anything else in this world." Which, by the way, meant a lot coming from the most independent woman in the United Kingdom. "For as long as I live, I will be by your side, supporting you and our family. I promise." January smiled and squeezed his hands and left it at that. It wasn't long, but it was simple. Vic already knew all of it anyway.

Vic's Adam apple kept moving up and down. He was aware of it because he was aware of the big lump in his throat during Jan's vows. He felt like he was somewhere else, listening in from a distant place, this all seemed so surreal to him. And when she finished, he let out a chuckle that was a cross between a sigh and a hiccup.
The minister was now saying things, the usual things. Vic didn't think of them as ordinary because it was concerning him and January. "I do," he said when it was time. Then hearing Jan say it made his heart flutter a little. In no time, they were announced husband and wife and Vic leaned in to give her a small kiss on the lips.

January had done a good job at keeping her emotions and wibbles in check, but it was HARD when she could see Vic getting emotional. Vic wasn't a crier. Neither of them were, except for today, apparently. The vows were made, the I do's were said, the rings were put on their fingers and the kissing began. And, by the way, January didn't accept his small kiss. She made it a big one. It wasn't sloppy, of course, but it wasn't just a peck.
Married indeed!

After the ceremony was over, the bride and groom led the way to the celebration tent. Music started to play, waiters and waitresses in bow ties walked around with trays of celebratory champagne and hors d'oeuvres. It was absolutely perfect. Their wedding planner had outdone herself, and January was glad she had. It was beautiful. January had wanted to keep it simple for the guests. No teary toasts to deal with or long spiels from drunken family members (which was why the waiters were limiting the number of glasses per person, just to be safe). Just dancing, eating, drinking, and a good time had by all.
The first dance, of course, was set aside for the bride and groom. January tugged Vic's hand so they could claim the dance floor as their wedding song started to play.

Gosh, this was just... this was too much. TOO MUCH LOVE. Too much cuteness. Too much of looking at gorgeous January in her beautiful gown, and too many of her loving glances at Vic, and too much happiness and genuineness in those vows, and just TOO MUCH. Willy was certainly part of the half of the room in tears, though as a man, he kept his tears on the inside and only scratched at the inner corner of his eye once. AHEM. No tears here.
As the ceremony ended, he clapped and grinned and followed the crowd to the celebration tent. Where was Lucie? Could they hang out now and have some drinks? Drinks to... toast to the happy bride and groom?

Weddings were supposed to be beautiful and festive and happy, but this was literally the worst wedding in the history of ever. Boring. The couple was stupid. And Lucie hated everyone. Even William, although to a much smaller extent. Like... she kind of thought that he should have already escaped with her to somewhere not terrible.
But he was here. Looking kind of enchanted. Or bored. It was literally the same face.
"If you don't leave with me now, I"m leaving by myself," Lucie found a seat next to William and parked there. There were probably family seats at some head table (who knew... it wasn't like Lucie had a family anymore or anyone told her anything), but she'd rather sit here. With her date.
