Located at 275 Diagon Alley, Madam Primpernelle's Beautifying Potions seeks to aid the everyday witch or wizard in maintaining or improving her or his physical appearance. With skincare products that remove warts, acne and worse, and hair care potions that will make one's locks luxurious and glossy, this shop should be the first stop on any image-conscious witch or wizard's visit to Diagon Alley!
As you proceed inside the store you notice that it is divided into two parts. To the right, you will encounter aisles filled with Beauty Care Potions to treat all of your beauty problems, including warts, pimples, dry skin, sunburn, and many more. To the left of the store, you will find aisles filled with Beauty Enhancement Potions, potions that have been designed to help you look your best. They range from simple products, such as hair colour changing potions and teeth whitening potions, to much more dangerous potions that can help you become thinner and younger looking. The shelves are filled with bottles, flasks, and containers of different shapes, sizes, and colours.
The counter is located in the middle of the store. It is decorated with small flower arrangements, a glass bowl filled with bonbons, business cards with the store's contact information, a few magazines (including Witch Weekly and Rumours!), small brochures and pamphlets with coupons and special deals, and small flasks of fragrance samples. If you have any questions about a product, can't find a certain potion, or are in dire need of immediate magical help for your beauty problems the shopkeeper will be more than happy to help you.

For the record, Lisa didn't mean to walk into this store.
Nope. Nope. Nope. She would plead the fifth until her last breath. And she would have HATED the idea of being caught in here by any of her siblings. Well she didn't hate it- she just didn't wish to be caught because if she were, then she wouldn't be able to successfully manage the awesome prank she was about to pull.
Yes, the littlest Nam was here ready to purchase not FIVE but EIGHT different hair colour potions. One for each member of her family that she either loved or heavily tolerated; however, her idol and cousin (Cora) was the exception. She wouldn't dare taint Cora's beautiful locks or stunning looks because Cora was Cora. And Cora was about to propose to her boyfriend AAAAND had asked for Lisa's help so Lisa didn't exactly want to get unasked for help. Nope. She had a whole plan that she had picked up from gathering intel on several rom com movies that she was waiting to put into action.
But meanwhile - there was a task at hand. THE POTIONS
Heh. One for Noah, one for Evan, one for Maya, one for Eomma, one for Appa (she had to find a space themed one if that was a thing or at least recreate it), one for Solana (though she'd choose a nice one because she felt bad for Sol and didn't want to cause anymore hurt), one for Chin-hae, and one for Chase.
Now what colours should she choose? Decisions... Decisions.

Caroline, had, unfortunately meant to walk into this shop, but only because her parents told her to get some rash paste for one of their pigs. Gertrude the pig was always getting into stuff she wasn't supposed to and kept getting a rash on her big fat belly and APPARENTLY the only rash cream that worked was the stuff at Madame Primpernelle's. Naturally, ZERO of her seven brothers would dare set foot in this store and just because Caroline was a girl, she was the one that had to go.
Her first stop had been the sweets shop, though. She needed to restock her bubblegum.
Chewing on a wad of new bubblegum, the young farm girl swung open the door to the girly shop and walked in, her little pet mouse (Steve) sitting atop her shoulder comfortably. She couldn't remember where the rash cream was, so she ended up down an aisle with potions of varying colors. Huh. She wondered what her mum would think if she came home with green hair. Before she could think about it too long, Steve the mouse hopped off the girl's shoulder, scampered over to the other girl that was in the hair potion aisle and started running up the girl's clothes to get to her hair.

It was finally time for one Eliana Low to be in her happy place. Surrounded by bottles upon bottles of anything she could dream of. Walking the store she searched for the newest products that she missed from the term of no mail. Seriously it felt like years since she had seen new makeup or even tried any on.
Picking up a few different shades of ever changing eye shadow, Eli was soon distracted by the kits that she loved doing. She wanted to try out a new lip balm recipe she had made up while stuck in the room to pass the time and she really need to grow her spa stash as well. This term she was going to grow her little dorm salon even more.

Okay so a lovely shade of light pink would really bring out Noah’s personality, a light blue for Evan, a beautiful scarlet for Maya.... Now she was stuck on choosing a colour for everyone else. Maybe a PURPLE would have been good?
HUH?
She felt something scampering up. And it wasn’t a bug bug.... She knew what a bug lazily crawling up her skin felt like. This THING - whatever - it was was CLIMBING at an alarming rate. An alarm went off in her head when she felt it reach past her knee and she let out a dreadful SQUEAKY SQUEAL.
She shook every part of her body - legs, feet, arms, hands, elbows, and then just her whole body did a star jump as she tried to shake the THING off of her.
Get it off. Get it off. Get it off. NOWWWWWWWW. She swore if it was a mouse that she’d literally faint. Shake. Shake. Shake. Where was her lightsaber now in her time of need to whack it away?!?
She jumped one more time and then fell right onto her back, losing the potions in her basket as they crashed behind her onto the floor.

"Eli, wait up," Autumn whined called after her sister as she followed her into the store. She knew how distracted Eliana could get about makeup and honestly Autumn kind of liked it too. But even though she was reluctant to admit it, she was trying to stick closer to her sister these days, without making it super obvious that she was following her around. Maybe it was because of the hard year they'd had at school last term. Well, it was definitely that, but she also didn't want to act like Eliana's shadow or like the kid sister who always had to tag along. So she had a lot of conflicting feelings.
But she soon caught up to her sister and peered over her shoulder to see what she was looking at. "What are you getting? Do you think any of those colors would look good on me?" Autumn did trust Eliana to choose just the right shades to be the most flattering. She would admit she was really good at makeup and beautifying products.

She heard her sister and did slow down, but there was something about this shop that put Eliana in a daze that not even her family could get her refocused on anything else. Pulling up the lip balm kit she slipped it into her basket. "I want to restock on a few things since I was doing some hair and makeup at school before the idiots sent us to that room." Though she had been doing it there too. The room might have helped her a bit with that, since they had no where else to go others saw her styles. "I also had been working on a few new combinations for lip balms so I want to try to make them and see if they workout." Experimenting was so much fun and she always liked to try new thigs on anyone willing.
"Trying to catch a boys eye this summer?" She joked as she turned to face Autumn completely, "I think you would look great in this new mermaid changing eye shadow I just saw." Heading back over she picked it up and one of the earth tones and showed her sister. "I think the earth tones would really make sure eyes pop, but the mermaid you could really get fancy with." Her sister was gorgeous and Eli knew she didn't need much makeup to look that way. "Add a little eyeliner and lipstick and dad won't be letting you out of the house because you will look to grown up."
"Do you want to grab some pizza after we leave here?" Eliana loved spending time with her sister so she didn't mind her hanging out with her.

Honestly, it was typical Steve. He liked to make friends and he loved burrowing in hair, especially if it was shiny. And this girl had nice, shiny hair. But it all happened so fast - before Caroline could try and calmly retrieve Steve from the girls' limbs, she started shaking about and jumping and straight-up convulsing like a mad person.
"Oi-" the young brunette tried to say, but her call was drowned out by the girl's AWFUL shrieking. "OI!" she yelled this time, waving her arms at the girl. "KNOCK IT OFF, YER GONNA HURT STEVE!" The poor little mouse just wanted to smell her hair!
Caroline was in the middle of trying to figure out HOW to save Steve from the flailing banshee when the girl jumped again. This time, it seemed to be in slow motion. She was in the air, and so was her basket and SO WAS STEVE. The poor mouse had jumped from the girl's shoulder in a panic and he was FLYING through the air towards Caroline. Caroline's hands went into the air and caught the mouse right as the other girl crashed to the floor.... with all those colored potions.
"ARE YE MAD?" Caroline shouted at the girl on the floor, holding little Steve to her chest. "Ye could have hurt Steve!"

“EXCUSE ME? I’M MAD!?” she shrieked. No way. She wasn’t mad. She had just been perusing hair dye colour potions and this mouse (Steve) had attacked her. Lisa was ANNOYED. Eyes narrowed, nostrils flared, reason be gone. She jumped off to her feet, not noticing how her clothes and hair were all different colors. She barely caught a glimpse of herself in the reflection of the puddle. This other girl was shouting and yelling at her.
Oh yeah, anger took the best of her. Lisa took several steps forward towards the other girl and GLARED. “WHY IN THE WORLD ARE YOU BRINGING A MOUSE INTO A STORE? I THINK YOU’RE MAD!”
Lisa huffed. “I’m going to find the shopkeeper. It’s unsanitary to have a mouse in a cosmetic shop.” She brushed past the girl, hoping to intentionally rub some of the hair dye potion up against her. She then turned to Steve, the mouse, looked at him and then hmphed.

This was the kind of shopping Florrie liked, and seeing as she hadn't had time to browse the day she'd purchased all of her school things a more laid back day was welcome. Grabbing a basket, she filled it with all of the normal teenage things, like spot treatments and eye cream fairly quickly, before heading towards the nail varnishes.
And maybe picking up a teeth whitening potion on the way. What? She deserved to treat herself, her dad had even said so.
Stopping in front of the nail polishes, Florrie looked at the colours trying to decide which to buy. She picked up a turquoise and held it to the light.

Why was she even here? Ingrid thought to herself as she took another small step into the shop, her eyes down on the floor, almost too scared to look up at all of the shiny, intimidating potions and of beauty products around her. Even as she walked further in and finally pulled her eyes up from the floor at the products that she’d come to look at, everything just looked so confusing and old? Like they couldn’t be meant for her, could they? They were meant for much old and prettier girls, like her sisters for example or the other girl in the shop, the older one with a basket clutched confidently in her hands and an expression that clearly stated “I know what I’m doing”.
Doing her best act like she knew what it was she was supposed to be doing, the third year picked up a basket and began to walk around, stopping every so often so she could pretend to look closer at some of the phials on offer. Wart remover? Ewww. Putting that down quickly, she continued to shuffle around before finally coming to a stop at the nail polishes.
“Flish Flash Effects? I don’t…why does it sound so complicated?” more to herself than the girl next to her now. Needless to say, she was feeling more lost now than she ever had been. “Excuse me. Do you mind helping me please? I’m ju-…I have no idea what I need”. All she wanted was something to make her look as pretty as her sisters and the other girls at school. Was that too much to ask?
Why was she even here? Ingrid thought to herself as she took another small step into the shop, her eyes down on the floor, almost too scared to look up at all of the shiny, intimidating potions and of beauty products around her. Even as she walked further in and finally pulled her eyes up from the floor at the products that she’d come to look at, everything just looked so confusing and old? Like they couldn’t be meant for her, could they? Yes, the turquoise went into the basket, Florrie decided after looking at it in the light. She was considering the other colours when she heard a younger girl next to her, and her eyebrow raised slightly at the girls confusion. Not that she was going to say anything about it, of course, but a glance at her didn't exactly leave her with much of a choice.
Ugh. She didn't want to help the girl, but she also didn't want people gossiping about her behind her back. Saying things like she was rude and nasty to the younger kids. That was, like, her job to talk about other people.
Even if she could be rude and nasty. Was, often
Pursing her lips a little, she turned to face her properly, propping the basket on her hip. "Well, what do you want?" Florrie asked. "Flish Flash Effects are overrated - the colour changing if fun for, like, an hour and then it's just annoying."

If she was being honest, it was a hopeless quest. She was doomed, even now as she staired up at the older girl, she knew even she couldn’t help her. Nodding a little in agreement like she actually knew that Flish Flash Effects were overrated, she hastily put them back and sighed a little.
“So umm…what do I need then?” It wasn’t like he could say oh, I want to look pretty and older because then she would look like a right looser. “I guess, maybe, something to make them stand out a little? she continued before hastily adding “but nothing too flashy. Or maybe, um, something for my skin? What do you use?” blushing slightly now as she looked away quickly, pretending to look at something else now.
If she was being honest with herself, what she really wanted was a makeover and it was true that she could have asked her older sister and, they would have done a good job, but they would have babied her and treated her like the child that she wasn’t anymore. She wasn’t a baby anymore.

Oh. Merlin.
This was amazing. Florrie surveyed the younger girl, raising her eyebrows as she let her eyes take her in. If she could convince the kid that she needed Florrie, then she could create herself a lacky. Someone who would idolise her and do what she wanted.
"Well, you always need a nude," Florrie began, selecting one from the shelf. "It's understated and classic. And if you want something to stand out, you need to have the confidence to wear it." And she was seeing little confidence right now. "But have a little fun. What's your favourite colour?"
Did Florrie actually know what she was talking about? Nope, but she could pretend. She smiled a little when she asked about skin care. "Hydration is key. But you've got to find the balance - too much and you'll get greasy skin and spots." She dug around in her basket and pulled out a basic cleanser, spot treatment and moisturiser and held them out to the girl.
"These will get you started. But don't worry - you're not at a total loss. You have great bone structure." And she smiled winningly at that.

The contrast between her usually pale cheeks and the now rosy tinge that coloured them was alarming, or at least it would have been to anyone who knew her. When did she ever have a strong reaction to anything that wasn’t to do with something other than a magical creature? Never! Looking up from the floor at the girl now, a glimmer of hope appeared on her face at the sound of something that wasn’t complete rejection.
“Nude?!” her expression befuddled and slightly embarrassed for a moment because that wasn’t a colour, was it? Eventually though, something clicked in her head and she continued “Oh…nude. Okay. Do you always need that? It just seems a little plain” she replied then, completely out of her comfort zone now. “My favourite colour is red but I’m not sure that’ll suite me”.
All of the information that she was new to her and she was absorbing it like a sponge in water now, eager to know more about this new side of her that had previously been covered up by mud, dust and other, less pleasant things. “I didn’t realise all of that kind of stuff was a big deal. It sounds a lot”. Reaching out, she eyed the nude-coloured nail polish followed by the basic cleanser and then placed them both in her basket.
“Thanks, I really have no idea about any of this…” and then she was blushing again for a moment before a smile spread across her face. Her sisters, bless them, were always so complimentary to her and it always made her smile but they’d never say a thing to upset her or tell her how they really felt. Coming from a stranger though, she couldn’t be fibbing, could she? “My bones? Thank you. I’m Ingrid by the way”.
"Oh, that's cool," Autumn said, glancing at the lip balm in her sister's basket. Maybe she should have gotten a basket too, but she probably wouldn't buy all that much herself. Just one or two things maybe, and the rest she could borrow from Eliana because she had a ton of makeup. "You should try some glittery ones or flavored ones." She bet a lot of girls would like something like that. "Or maybe something with lip plumping." She puckered up her lips for effect.
"Oh I don't know," she replied to the boy comment with forced nonchalance. "Maybe I just want to look good for myself." That was all about being a confident woman, even if Autumn wasn't quite there herself. She could still act the part. "Mermaid?" she asked after she heard Eliana's suggestions. "I think that sounds pretty awesome. Let's try that one. Do you want to do my makeup when we get home?" Not that it was for anything in particular, but she'd like to see what she'd look like.
Autumn rolled her eyes playfully. "Dad doesn't need to know. Besides, I bet mum wouldn't care." Maybe. She didn't completely know and wasn't sure if she would try to push her luck just yet. "Pizza sounds great too." But she could still look around here some more.

Red? Or just a darker brown? Or...maybe blonde?
Ivy wrinkled her nose. Yeah, no, she didn’t think she’d be able to pull that off. She put the blonde hair color potion back on the shelf and continued scanning the others. Sticking with natural hair colors was probably the best idea, especially for her first time changing her hair, but she couldn’t help but be drawn to some of the wild, brighter colors too. Like the purple shades. Or pink or blue or...any of them really. They all looked pretty.
But she hadn’t exactly run this idea by her parents yet, and they would probably be more okay with it if she stuck to something natural first. And she thought she'd like it more if she did too.
But maaaybe...maybe she could still buy one of them just in case she wanted to try them in the future? Did it have an expiration date?
Ivy grabbed one of the dark purple shades, turning the bottle around to look for one. "Hmm..."

The blush was cute, aw. It made Florrie's smile widen, and maybe become more real - if only for a moment. The confusion was also cute, but it was more amusing, and the knowing smirk was soon back in place. "Yeah, nude. You need it for those times where you need to be professional, or when you can't be bothered - it's lazy but still looks good," she elaborated. "But it can be boring, you're right." Maybe a little agreement would make the kid like her.
"Red is super bold." Her accent was strong on the adjective, the emphasis placed there. "If you're not ready for that, go for something less bright - like a burgundy or a pink-toned red," she added, picking up a few of the slightly more muted red-toned vials and holding them out towards the younger girl. Her own nails were manicured, a dark blue - almost black, with a shiny that caught the light.
Something that resembled a sympathetic smile crossed Florrie's face, and she nodded as if she understood. Which she did, deep down, only her Mama had been on her about skincare since she could remember, and the other beauty stuff had followed somewhat naturally. "We've all got to start somewhere, Ingrid. I'm Florrie."

Sometimes she felt like she was always an outsider at school. She wasn’t normal, whatever that was at Hogwarts anyway so whenever she made a possible new friend, Ingrid always had to mentally try to not freak out and overwhelm them with her sheer giddiness and overall excitement. Like now for example. “Where I need to…” she repeated after her, making a mental note that there were actually times where she needed to look professional? Okay, so nude colour is professional. That Doesn’t makes sense.
“Okay, so maybe not the red” she replied then with a smile as she brushed some of her long dark hair out of her face. She knew something like a red may not have suited her, simply because she was so pale so it was almost rewarding to hear that because her gut instincts actually been right! Reaching out, she took a few of the vials from the girl, holding some of her favourites up to her face as she did to see the girl’s reaction. “How about this one?” Ingrid asked as she held up a pale, rose coloured vial up to her face.
“I like your nails by the way. They really stand out”. Part of her wished she had the confidence to do that but then again, maybe she would now so time in the future. Then again, wouldn’t she need a whole outfit to match the nails too?
“Thank you so much for the help Florrie. I would’ve been lost without you, honestly” or more than likely, she would have spent a lot of money on a range of beauty products with no clue how to use them or what they do. It would have been a mess.
“I can’t wait to see everyone’s face when I look pretty”.

This was only Misa's second time in Diagon Alley. But her mum was working late that night and her brother had plans so here she was. Alone. Friendless. In a new country she did not want to be in. Wandering the aisles of Beauty products. Alas, looking "pretty" seemed to transcend country lines.
She glanced at a girl who looked to be about her age to see what she was picking up. She was curious what the "cool" products were here. If she was going to fit in, she had to start as soon as possible. Right?
If her dad were still around he'd remind her that teenage culture and cliques weren't long term.
But, if her dad we still around, she'd be in France still where she knew how to get by.

Florrie watched Ingrid curiously as she looked at the vials, before offering her a big smile as she held one up. "That's super pretty," she agreed with a small nod. "I've got a similar one at home." Putting some of the ones she was holding back, the Hufflepuff made a show of checking her nails as though she'd forgotten what they even looked like. Like they were No Big Thing.
"Thanks, Ingrid. I was worried they were too dark, you know? Especially in summer." It wasn't a completely lie - they weren't a summer colour, but Florrie didn't actually care about that. And such a dark colour went with the majority of her wardrobe, so she didn't have to change her nails every other day. That would have been too much effort.
"Anytime," she said, not wholly insincerely. If she was in the right place, then she actually didn't mind helping that much, especially if they were going to be as grateful and eager as Ingrid was. "But remember, it's all in the confidence." She couldn't help but add the last part, ignoring the twang in her heard at the quiet comment. She would pretend that she hadn't heard.

Doing her best cool girl impression, she simply nodded and replied “Yeah, I thought it would go well. You know, because I’m a little pale”. Was that cool? She wasn’t sure. Either way, on the inside, she was clapping like a toddler who’d just started playing peek-a-boo for the first time.
“It doesn’t look too dark. It stands out which is kind of good I guess?” her reply more of a question than a definitive statement because she knew nothing about these things. She much preferred to hang around in her old comfy dungarees, playing with the magical creatures. Or rather, the old Ingrid did. This year she was trying to be a little more…grown up? Try being the main word there.
Anytime sounded like an offer to hang out to her, something should would fully plan to accept. You know, just as soon as she could get to grips with the fact she’d possibly made a new friend!“Great! I’m honestly going to need as much help as possible”. Confidence? CONFIDENCE? Did she not ooze sophistication and class? Did her ever molecule not radiate confidence in a way that gravitated others towards her like the sun? “Yeah…yea-h. I can be confident” her face slightly pink now as she looked down at the beauty products in her hands, avoiding the eyes of Florrie for fear of being found out. “I suppose I better pay for these now before my brother comes looking for me”. No doubt he was most likely still sculking around Florean Fortescue’s hoovering up as much ice cream as he could. Still, she did not want him to catch her in this place. She could hear the insults now.

Summer was taking its toll on Zachaël. Specifically on his hair. He supposed that it was unfair to blame the meltdown this morning exclusively on the summer. But it was also shallow to shoulder it on to the Neo Alliance and the stress their existence had thrust upon him the past year abouts. But it had been there. Right there on the left side of his head and just a bit above his earlobe.
A grey hair.
Without even thinking about it, Zachaël had plucked the monstrosity from his curly blocks just as one would a gnome from your garden. He even went so far as to throw it out the window and into the wind, never to be been or heard from AGAIN. Thankfully his melt down had been of the silent variety and his partner had barely stirred before Zachaël had returned to bed with their morning coffees and the Prophet to read their respective favorite sections while still in bed.
His supply low and without the time nor resources this week to travel to France on a whim to purchase more of his favorites, the Owl Post shopkeeper arrived in Madam Primpernelle's dressed modestly as opposed to a bold print but still with his signature crimson towel draped over his left shoulder and with one of the owl post owls, a barn owl, perched on his shoulder.
Moving swiftly and passing by various pairs of teenage girls, a polite 'pardon me' muttered while doing so, the former Slytherin made a direct approach to the hair products and instantly began picking them up and inspecting the ingredients lists on each. Were any of these vegan?

She was trying to decide between two kits when Autumn suggested glitter and lip plumping, "That actually isn't a bad idea. I think I will get a few of each." They more she had the better for the school year, she really wanted to add more people to work on throughout the term. She was getting better and better at hair and makeup and Eliana couldn't wait until she could just study that instead of boring subjects.
What a proud big sister moment, she couldn't help but grin at Autumn, "Good answer, you are beautiful without makeup too, just so you know." Giving her a little wink she turned and put a few more items into her basket. "I ready about the new products and I'm glad you picked that one. It has the prettiest colors in the new line, plus it changes every so often and sparkles a bit in the sun." It was going to be so popular from everything she had read. "I'd love to do your makeup when we get home. Could put some highlights in your hair too if you want. I think I might change mine up." She was kind of thinking about going darker.
She didn't mean to snort laugh but when Autumn said dad wouldn't have to know it struck her as so funny, he wasn't the most observant, but he always had comments about Eliana's makeup so she knew he would probably flip about his youngest growing up. "I guess we will see."

Well, she couldn't seem to find an expiration date, sooo...either there wasn't one and it would be good for ages, or the date had rubbed off somehow. Maybe she should check a few of them to be sure.
Setting that one down, Ivy noticed another girl around her age looking her way. She smiled. "Thinking about dyeing your hair too?" she asked, picking up another bottle. Maybe the girl would have some recommendations or suggestions too if she was.
