Default Park Bench

Placed strategically along the south end of the street, there are about five park benches on either side of the street offering a place for the weary to rest their tired feet for a moment. There is one situated between Eeylops and Flourish and Blotts, one between Weasley's Wizard Wheezes and Ollivanders - and then on the opposite side of the street, between Primpernelle's and Wiseacres, and Sugarplums and the Menagerie. The fifth bench is where the cobblestone ends, clearly placed there to let you know you've reached the end of the street and to turn back now.

Though I would be wary of the bench near Sugarplums, as well as the one near WWW, as both seem to have fairly strong odors associated with them. The one near WWW simply because WWW gained a store location right near the rubbish bin, which holds various items, some still of value, but many decomposing. And that Sugarplums bench? It used to be home to at least one homeless person who's hair was so matted, it could have been used by your front door, and who likely hadn't had a proper shower or change in clothes in several years. The lovely shopkeeper assistant from Sugarplums saw to it that the homeless of the area were sorted out though.... the stench still lingers. She is currently working on that.

Theo plopped himself down on one of the nice smelling benches in Diagon Alley. Ice cream in hand, he was having a nice, relaxing sit down. He wasn't really sure what he was doing, though, but he found himself thinking that he'd rather not be alone. Should've brought Cassia along.

Obviously thinking about her too much, a small drop of ICE CREAM landed on his jeans. On his JEANS... right next to an area that he would liked to have avoided any spillages................ He grunted quite audibly and rubbed at it with his finger. Ice cream had gone but it had left a gross, little splodge.

Great. Hmmfffh.... Cue stroppy Theo.

Terry had been extremely busy since graduating. His mum and his sister had left the country for an unspecified amount of time and had left Terry to pick up the pieces of his mums business. Not only was he attendng university but he was acting like a creature caretaker against his own will. Having convinced his mum to employ someone to help out at the sanctuary up on the Isles of Skye, the blonde was finally able to leave his house and socialise.

..If he had anyone to socialise with.

He could've called Jozsua for their usual fast food trip but he felt the need to head into Diagon Alley for old times sake. He'd grabbed a pumpkin pasty on the way before walking down the street to find somewhere to sit. Which he did only the seat he wanted was occupied by someone. Someone familiar and certainly great company.

..If he wasn't being grumpy that was.

"Now that's an expression I've missed" he chuckled as he sat next to his old friend. He noticed the spillage on his trousers and has raised his brow but chose to say nothing about it. Guess that was what he was grumbling about? The twenty-year-old grinned at his former dormmate, a genuine happy to see him sort of smile.

Shame he didn't have a batch of brownies with him, Terence was far too busy for baking now.

Considering going home, Theo munched quickly through the last of his ice cream. He didn't even notice his old friend approaching him, and even when he sat down, Theo shifted straight away and thought 'ew, stranger'. But then words. He turned his head and immediately crossed his legs. "Oh." He pressed his eyebrows together. "What expression?" .............

Realizing he was being his standard grumpy self, (which he has said he had grown out of by now.... pfffffft) Theo let his face soften and sort of smiled back at Terry. It was difficult. If caught moments before, he would've mirrored his cheerfulness. "Sorry, man. Just spilled my bloody ice cream." Snort.

NOW he could laugh about it. Thanks, Terry. "What're you doing here? It's been aaaaaaages." He would clap him on the back or something but he felt it inappropriate. Dunno.

Eureka was sitting on the bench waiting for her cousins to finish shopping with their mum somehwere off. Probably Madam Malkins'. She was slouching with her head leaning against the back of the bench and her neck squashed down as her body flopped on the seat. The alley was never this boring, soon she was promised to go to her grandfather's house for some cake and exploding lemon juice but now? Now they left all their shopping bags with her and expected her to simply wait for them here. Blurgh. Boring.

Ilia began to get weary with shopping. Doing so much on your own could become cumbersome, so it was time to sit. Most of the places she had passed were not where she would consider resting though. Children smearing ice cream and other treats around, couples snogging, old people feeding birds.....none of that was too inviting in her eyes, despite the abundant space. Finally she happened upon a bench that didn't seem too awful. There was a young girl surrounded by shopping bags, certainly less offensive than her other options. The girls expression seemed less than thrilled about the matter, but still there was plenty of space. "Pardon me, but would you mind if I sat here?" She flashed a small smile as she gestured at the empty space.

He took his potion today. And everyday since he'd been home. The mother had made certain. It took a clever charm, but if she could do nothing else, Soheir was a clever witch with this sort of thing. It was why she'd been made a trusted ally for a wizard who'd trusted no one. Zohar Smith had gotten lucky in choosing his getaway driver.

It didn't make Cutty no nevermind that his mum had charmed his bottle of Whimaway. He could always dump a certain portion of it down the drain. Any drain. Or spellbind the dropper himself. Then of course, there were always bezoars. Such handy little things. He'd have to stop by the potions shop later and pick some up. He didn't fully trust his mum's friend. For that is how he mentally logged Professor Culloden. Professor 'Me moohm's friend'. Not in the hob-knobbing sort of way, either. More like, he wanted distance from him for lack of trust. Which was the opposite of his cohort and fellow hell-raiser, Bart Maroon. And Cutty thought Bart needed a strong male figure in his life. Which is why he was now considering volunteering for the post. Propriety be damned.

"What do you need to buy?" Soheir turned to her boy, already bigger than her. Wasn't he just a little thing...No, no...La'La! She was not going to get emotional right there. He'd read it as weakness, pretend to comfort her and then spend all of their money on whatever he wanted, essentially. Which could be his school supplies but might also be any number of other things.

"An owl, books, new robes..." Smile. Maybe she'd bite and give in.

"Noooo new robes. We're having your uncle's altered." She stopped him before he tried to throw in other things he 'needed'.

"An owl, books, no new robes, and potions supplies." He finished, his dutiful son face on. "Yer friend's a bit ropey, by the way."

"You need to try and get on better with Cosgrach, Cutty. You have a lot to learn from him, remember. And you also need to give me money so I don't go into Primpernelle's and the Quidditch place empty handed." Would he hear a word she said. Maybe not now, maybe in the future. Persistence was key according to both, her instinct and his Healer.

Cuthbert smiled his best princely and serene smile at his mama as he reached into his pocket and pulled out a small moke sack of knuts, sickles and galleons. More sickles than galleons, really. The boy departed from his mother after agreeing to meet up again in 3 hours time. He headed off in the direction of the Eyelops first.

Eureka was about to bail, she wanted to hide allll those bags somewhere and go explore the alley instead of sitting here. However, a girl approached her. She spoke perfect English, same as her grandfather, so Eureka guessed the girl must be from around here. She perked up, jumping to a sitting position on the bench and pulling the bags closer to her so she could make space for the girl.

"Sure. I vould love some company." Her accent showed clearly. "My aunt and cousins have been gone too long!" But anyway, enough about that. "What's your name?" Time to make a new friend!

The girl on the bench replied favorably and shifted some bags, which was a relief so she smiled briefly and sat. It was dumb to wear heels here, very dumb. This girl had an accent ,but Ilia couldn't place it. It wasn't British like everyone else's around here. Then again, she wasn't from around here either though , so maybe she was wrong. She had little to no accent when she spoke English, even though it wasn't her first language.

The girl was here with people apparently but, they had left her? That was rude.... She came alone , so she did not have the same problem, if she would in the first place. "You may call me Ilia." She didn't like reeling off her full name to people she had just met and preferred to be called by her middle name unless it was a teacher or something. "What is yours?"

If the new friend girl had an accent, then Eureka wouldn't be able to realize it. The twelve-year-old was not savvy about languages and dialects, she had a knack to miss on those little things with people. "Ilia?" She repeated it to see how it rolled off her tongue. She thought it was a pretty name! "I'm Eureka Botros-Russ." No problem in foolishly giving out her full name to strangers when they looked young and friendly. Maybe Hassan, her older cousin who was in charge of them today, wouldn't like her giving out her full name but he wasn't here to hear. And this Ilia girl did look friendly and nice.

"Are you shopping, too?" Eureka looked around the girl to see if she put shopping bags on the other side of the bench.

The girl repeated Ilia's name and the reeled off her entire name. Or rather.....she hoped it was her full name. It was enough of a mouth full that she would pity the girl if there was more to it. Her first name or what she assumed to be her first name in that muddle was intriguing to her. It all sounded foreign and she began to become curious about where the girl was from. Looking her over again, she considered that the girl might be slightly younger than her, being fourteen. She looked maybe a year or two younger perhaps? "Pleasure to meet you, Eureka." In her mind she played around with saying her name and the context in which in might be humorous.

Her bags were tucked to the side of her , neatly placed to ensure their contents were well kempt. "I am, for school supplies. What are you shopping for?" Or rather, not shopping for.....since she was sitting here now.

School supplies, she always wondered how much supplies Hogwarts students had to ship off to their school that required them shopping for weeks. Maybe they were just picky about their supplies and not the school's fault? "You go to Hogvarts, too? My cousin vent there." She nodded then added as an after-thought, "My grandfather teaches there, too." Although she didn't go there, her father wouldn't let her.

"Rula, my other cousin, is getting her vand today. It's pretty exciting!" She chirped, excitement leaving a red blush on her cheeks. "I was promised ice cream, but other than that nothing. Vhat have you got?" She gestured at the bags.

Eureka seemed like a happy enough girl, perhaps that was a sign of what Hogwarts was like? When Ilia heard her next question and answers, it appeared that her theory had been swiftly debunked. "I will be going to Hogwarts after the summer. This is my first year in England." It felt so different being here right now. If her cousin attended and her grandfather was a teacher....."Will you be going to Hogwarts too?" Maybe she was a first year?

"That does sound exciting. Did you already get yours?" The more the girl spoke , the younger Ilia thought she might be. Perhaps this was her first year and she would at least know someone attending. Ilia pulled one of her bags onto her lap and peered inside. "Parchment, quills and ink, stamps and seals......" That bag was stationary apparently. She gently pulled her other bags over and began to gently sort through the items. "Books, simple potions supplies, owl and kneazle treats...." She made sure there was nothing else that she didn't list and looked back over at Eureka. "That seems to be it right now." Nothing super fancy right now.

Terry really should have got out more. Other than the occasional trip to a fast food chain when he was feeling too lazy to cook or going to see his girlfriend at her house in London, the twenty-year-old rarely left the comfort of his house on the Isle of Skye. Despite how lonely it was up there. Not his fault when this lot were out gallivanting on a broom stick and being famous or whatever and Terry had chosen the traditional ‘get a degree and stay out the spotlight’ route. He was happy anyway. Sort of. When he had company.

That expression” he snorted in response to Theo’s question. It didn’t bother him, he was used to it after years of sharing a dorm with his friend. The ‘I clearly don’t want company’ frown although he had no choice in the matter. Terry was staying where he was whether he liked it or not. Real friendship there.

Ice cream, of course. “I noticed” he laughed amused. “You have a wand you know? You could easily get rid of the stain.” The blonde winked, could’ve saved him some embarrassment. “Or you could always buy yourself a bib.” That would work too if he didn’t mind being photographed by some obsessive fan looking like a complete idiot. Now that would be a photo he would pay to see.

As for what he was doing here? He was doing what most people seemed to do here, wandering down the streets and looking at shop windows. “Chasing a fairy” he replied deadpan. “Followed her all the way down from Scotland. Bloomin’ fast she is as well..” No but seriously. He was doing nothing in particular. “Fancied some fresh air and a familiar sight. And then I spotted you.” So he joined him, pretty self-explanatory really.

Theo blinked at Terry before smirking. He knew what expression. Heck, he lived with that expression. "Yeah, yeah... whatever." Temporarily forgetting about his patch and uncrossing his legs (gASP), Theo asked the important questions. "So, how's life treating you?" Life outside of Hogwarts, that is.

"Actually, it's just as embarrassing to point a wand at... you know..." It was pretty much a lose-lose situation if you cared about what people thought of you. Which Theo did. "I would ask you to do it but I reckon that'd look even worse." HA. He was laughing properly this time. But a bib. Really? "Funny." Terry really was a sarcastic bugger, wasn't he? Theo had almost forgotten.

... Chased a fairy? Theo had almost bought that but wait, MORE sarcasm? He grinned and rolled his eyes. "Ah, me too, pretty much." He looked around. "Actually I have no idea why I am here. Was looking for a birthday present for my mum but there is literally nothing useful here." Apart from ice creams. Ice creams for Theo.

Now, when Finn went out he usually tried take his time in any of his possible shopping endeavors. Anything to get out of the house for a few hours. Only, there was a slight problem to this today, he didn't need to do much going around Diagon Alley, really all he had to restock on for classes again was some notebooks, quills and ink, and he'd done that rather quickly, heading towards that shop first.

So, he was done now but not willing to go back home. People watching would always be interesting, he would be doing that mhm. He found himself a good place to sit on one of the benches, between the more busy shops here in Diagon, maybe he would be able to spy on someone he knew, if they were here today.

The question now was, what would he see people acting like when they thought they weren't being watched?

There was officially absolutely nothing to do, and it was also absolutely unacceptable to simply stay home, hence why he decided to come to Diagon, although he made sure to stay out of Primpernelle's way, in case another girl asked opinions in regards to scents. He was more than free to offer them, don't get him wrong, but he was not in the mood for such a thing.

Unlike any trip, he was able to take Hemlock with him. The little snake was longer now and slightly bigger, but easily concealed when he wanted to. Right now it was on his wrist, taking a bit of his forearm, too.

You know what was amusing? Watching new wizards and witches try out their wand at Ollivander's, and that is exactly what he was doing, laughing on occasion as the reactions were hilarious sometimes. Oleander was having trouble remembering what his choosing had been like, but he did remember he'd been so in awe to find out what it was made of.

Quickly looking around, he noticed a boy sitting in a nearby bench. But wait, he knew him, he'd seen him in the common room. Yes? Probably.

This was good, this was alright.

His location made it perfect for him to see everyone else that went by, and well, seeing as the shops in this bit of Diagon Alley were the more popular ones people would be too busy to stop and talk but would rather bustle into and throughout the store. Perfect opportunity for Finn.

Looking...looking...

Uh-oh. Was he being looked at?

Finn noticed someone glancing his way. He sorta looked familiar but he really couldn't tell, not from this far away, though. Maybe another look would tell him if he was right or not, and would then allow him to try to avoid or ignore this person.

And quick head turn to look at the guy.

Yes, ok, maybe he was familiar?

If the guy knew Finn.... don't come over here.

Ok. Casual.

He lowered his head and scratched the top of his head, pretending to be fixing through it or something.

There.

Yeah, you know what? He'll go over there. This wasn't as fun to do on your own as it was with someone else. For whatever reason, he didn't think about joining the guy from Slytherin at that bench. He could use the break... even if he had been doing nothing to begin with.

With Hemlock still concealed, Oleander simply walked over to him and sat close by, looking around some more before making a most usual comment one could hear in Diagon these days. "I'm so thankful I kept all my hair while choosing wands." Yes, perfectly usual and not uncommon comment among wizards. "Although I don't remember how my choosing went, I reckon that guy over there will always remember." He chuckled, as he gestured with his head to the little guy who seemed more than happy at the moment, even if his head held less hair than before.

"Do you remember?" no, he wasn't exactly curious, it was a general wondering.

Alex got to the park a little before the time he told Jazz so that he can step up a surprise for her. He glanced around and found the perfect place, near the park bench. He spread out the blanket and sat the basket down. He had made traditional Spanish dishes as well as some British ones just in case she didnt like any of the Spanish ones. He made 5 different desserts, worried that she might disapprove of one or two of them. He smiled, planning on waiting to set up the food. He plopped down after plucking a few wild flowers. Alex weaved the wildflowers together to form a a floral crown. A bouquet of red roses were sticking out of the picnic basket.

Jasmine was excited to meet Alex. She heard he set up a picnic date for her. She was smiling and had like a hop in her step. As she was meeting him near the park benches because right across the street there was a park so it would be a perfect place to have a picnic. As she neared the benches she noticed a handsome man sitting there. She grinned and and went over and lightly kissed him on the lips. "Hey handsome.." she greeted him with. "I am really excited to know what you have in that basket.." she gestured towards it.

"You ready to go?" she asked and pointed to the park.

Sigh.

Now he was sitting there next to him. Ok, maybe it wasn't too bad. As long as he didn't talk....

...

So, casual conversation was being made now. Finn guessed he couldn't pretend to be busy anymore with his hair, and turned his attention to the guy sitting next to him. "Don't...don't know if someone's got the the capacity to remember so many people." he said looking past the guys shoulder, not keeping complete eye contact with him. Seriously, that was a lot of people the wand shopkeeper had to help on a daily basis.

"Must be a nice job." Sorta. If you thought about it, he was setting witches and wizards up for their future in school and defense and spells. "Rather-rather annoying too." No one got their right wand the first try, must leave him with a mess in his shop sometimes.

"No-not really." Finn said with a shake of his head. "Maybe-maybe something flew off the shelves?" He added with a little shrug.

There, he was returning the conversation back. Good enough, right?

Oh, wow, this was interesting. His eyes went straight to the Slytherin when he noticed the repetition, the stuttering. It was mostly interesting because Oleander didn't know if it was triggered by stress, or nervousness, or an actual disorder of sorts. A language therapist could help, if it was the latter. "You'd be surprised." Oleander could recall the faces, but the names often came and went, it was an obvious matter of interest. But the faces he could remember, at least. His sister has outstanding memory, though, so, "It's quite possible, actually," for someone to remember who stepped inside their shop and what they did or didn't do.

Whether he had intended to amuse him or not, Oleander laughed, rather quickly, "Annoying, yes, suppose it could get boring after a while," all magic lost as child after child unsuccessfully try a new wand. "This is their busiest time of the year, however," so it must be incredibly dull any other month.

Hmm, fair enough. Oleander leaned his back against the bench, getting slightly more comfortable while watching people coming and going here and there, "I have absolutely no idea how mine went." Having things flew off the shelves seemed to be a norm.

Please stop with the staring. Well, it was clear this guy had a different idea to Finn, and he was interested in knowing his logic behind being able to remember so many people. "How so? I-I mean, the shopkeeper must deal with thousands of people during the summer." There was no way to remember so many. But, if there was some magical superpower wandmakers had then Finn was curious to know what it was.

Laughter ensued. Ok. At least it passed by quickly before Finn's mind could be occupied with whatever random thing had made the guy laugh in his direction. Like, what if a bird had used the bathroom on his head and Finn was clueless to it? "Yes. I agree. But they create wands throughout the entire year." Or he would assume so. "So-so it can't get that boring." There were the ups and downs to this job, but Finn agreed on points with this companion here.

"How do you think it went?" Oops. No wait, he didn't have to answer that. Even if it would most likely be a made up scenario, it would sort of be telling of his personal thoughts or something. No, he didn't have to answer that. Finn turned his body around so that he was facing straight again, rather than at the guy sitting next to him.

Fairly obvious, it was, that Oleander was not 100% certain that this was the case, and chances are he would never be unless he asked, but he didn't fancy asking the shopkeeper such a question. Not now. Maybe some day. He could have someone else do the asking for him, too. Like this guy next to him. "Some people have excellent memory and the ability to pin-point faces after catching a glimpse of it just once." He didn't have a list of who these people were, and he wasn't on the market to find one either. It was just something that existed.

While the housemate did have a point, Oleander simply shrugged, "You ought to like it, yeah?" It's the only way it can't get boring. This Wisteria wouldn't be thrilled making wands for a living, okay? He wasn't even into plants, less so trees.

That was quite an odd question. Particularly after he'd said he HAD NO IDEA. Absolutely no idea. So, curious eyes settled on the person right beside him. Curious because... what part of NO IDEA did he not get? Let's use logic, one of them must use logic here. "Reckon it wasn't an extraordinary event, otherwise I would remember." Ob-viously. He still remembered the first time he saw Cassia. "What's your name, by the way? I've seen you around the Common Room but can't really place you," by name.
