Reviews: Harry Potter & Deathly Hallows various 2011 calendars Deathly Hallows Mini wall calendar: Before 2011 even begins, the Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part I mini wall calendar starts its 16-month run in September 2010. The last four months of 2010 are featured on one calendar page, as the focus is naturally the upcoming year. Various photos from the penultimate film are displayed in vivid colours, featuring Harry, Ron, and Hermione, as well as dozens of other characters, at the Ministry, Malfoy Manor, and of course, on the run. Each month is designated to signify a particular sequence in the movie, or general feel of what's taking place at that time. February shows the return of Ron Weasley to Harry and Hermione after destroying Slytherin's Locket Horcrux; while April focuses on the trio visiting the Lovegoods' residence. While naturally the focus of the calendar, like the movie, will be on Harry, Ron, and Hermione, there are a few months - though more towards the end of 2011 - which feature other characters. December narrows in on Malfoy Manor and the Death Eaters residing there. Although it may not be wholly timely, what with the focus of 2011 being on Part II, it's still a great reminder of the brilliant first installment of the final segment of the franchise. It has numerous photos of Harry, Ron, and Hermione as they grow up throughout their first six years at Hogwarts. In such a way, the calendar homes on the trio's, and everyone else's, life at the school that brought them together, before they tear away and begin their final adventure in Deathly Hallows. Month after month, nostalgia kicks in when you see photos of the trio as 12 year olds trying to work out the mystery of the Chamber of Secrets, or angst-ridden teenagers running from Sirius Black and the Death Eaters. Unlike traditional calendars, there is no place to write any information, so it is really more of an art piece to hang on your wall. Unfortunately, each page covers two months, so there are only six pop-up images throughout, although they are full-color cut outs that hang two full feet, making it stand out from ordinary calendars. The best part of the day-to-day calendar, if you can help yourself, is that with every new day there is a surprise of what the next day's photo will be. Could it be an 11-year-old Harry Potter entering Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry for the very first time, or perhaps when Harry and Professor Dumbledore enter the cave possibly containing one of Voldemort's Horcruxes in Half-Blood Prince? The fun and joy is that, no matter how young or old a Harry Potter fan is, they'll still wear a small smile on their face when they see the next day's photo as they tear it off the stand, remembering where exactly they were when they first saw that scene either in the big screen, DVD, or TV for the first time.
