Default Review: Ultimate Editions of Prisoner of Azkaban and Goblet of Fire

A must for any Harry Potter fan, the Ultimate Collector Editions for Prisoner of Azkaban and Goblet of Fire provide not only the films, but extra features with deleted scenes, cast interviews and amazing footage showing the inner workings of Leavesden studio, revealing how the films were made, and allowing the viewer to watch cast and crew diligently working behind the scenes.

The extra features for Prisoner of Azkaban delves into the Creature Shop at the film studio, revealing the enormous amount of time and attention to detail given to every creature brought to life on screen. We see how much hard work goes into making the full size robot of Buckbeak the hippogriff, as well as Dementors, the infantile to-be-resurrected Voldemort and many others.

The special footage in Goblet of Fire takes the viewer into the world of sound and music, explaining how Hedwig's Theme became the common link for all the films. It shows the work of the various composers throughout the series – John Williams, Patrick Doyle, Nicholas Hooper and Alexandre Desplat, and focuses in on Doyle’s score for Goblet of Fire.

The Ultimate Editions also contain collectibles. In the Prisoner of Azkaban set, fans are treated to a 48-page creatures book, featuring rare images from all of the Harry Potter films, plus character cards for Hermione Granger and Sirius Black. The Goblet of Fire edition offers up a 44-page sound and music photo book, as well as cards for Ron Weasley and Mad-Eye Moody.

The Ultimate Editions can be ordered via the following links:

Prisoner of Azkaban DVD; Prisoner of Azkaban Blu-ray
Goblet of Fire DVD; Goblet of Fire Blu-ray

I was disappointed in the GOF ultimate edition. Not within the features itself, no, those were fantastic. But the fact that it was the same thing I already had with extra features. If they weren't gonna extend the film, they could have added more deleted scenes to the mix, in my opinion.
