Alice in Wonderland videogame: Wii format

Let me start by saying I really liked this video game a lot. The plot is easy to follow and understand. It’s not really based on the film (aside from the characters and settings), but it’s so well done that the game easily could have been made even if there were no film to base it on. The basic gist of the game is to help Alice find the Varpal Sword and her armour so she can help the White Queen slay the Jabberwocky dragon and save Underland from the Red Queen’s rule. (Well, maybe it is a BIT like the movie…) But before you can find the sword, you must find the characters that will help Alice in her quest.

The game centers around these four characters and the player can switch from one to the other as needed to perform various tasks. Each character has a specific power and color associated with his power: the White Rabbit (blue) controls time, the March Hare (purple) has telekinesis, the Cheshire Cat (green) can become invisible and the Mad Hatter (yellow) can warp reality. Objects affected by each power are also colored to let the player know which character they need to become in order to affect those objects. For example, a half-buried trunk will be purple as only the March Hare can use his thoughts to make it fly up in the air to release it from the ground. Note: For objects in white, you must put your cursor over them to see what their true color is to figure out which character you need to become in order to manipulate that object.

Alice follows all of the characters throughout the game, occasionally needing their protection as the Red Queen’s soldiers attempt to kidnap her. A fifth character comes in handy when fighting the Red Knight soldiers: the Dormouse, who is an excellent swordsman but has no special powers otherwise. The game concludes with Alice having to face off against the Jabberwocky with help from her friends.

I highly recommend this game. You’ll have a great time jumping down the rabbit hole!

I thought the movie was pretty good, but I'm not sure I would buy a game about it. It does sound interesting though.
