Listed here is more information pertaining to each division within the Department of Magical Law Enforcement, and more specific duties and expectations of each role within those divisions. Any training or additional qualifications will be included here. Here you will also find active cases and important tasks being completed by Level Two at this time.
All information here is intended to supplement your RPing around the ministry, and in some cases serve as a reference for subplots or ministry-wide plot. Feel free to use it to inform your RPs and as a reference for what your character might be getting up to at work, or as inspiration for an RP set on Level Two.
Administration staff deal with day-to-day running of the department. All other divisions in Magical Law Enforcement work with the administration staff. Work is predominantly office and Ministry based, and involves a range of administrative tasks, including liaising with other departments in the Ministry of Magic.

This office is tasked with monitoring, preventing and containing any and all instances of the magical misuse. As a result, there are several divisions in this department, dedicated to some form of surveillance, detection, or investigation. Careful records are kept in this department and field work becomes a must when matters concerning the improper use of magic are concerned. The Improper Use of Magic Office deals with offences that are more regulatory in nature than criminal, but will cooperate with MLES where required if offenses escalate or are committed by a wanted criminal. Both field work and office-based work occurs in this division.

This office will also often liaise with the Department of International Magical Cooperation where necessary in the prevention of illegal magical trade.

Updated or refresher courses in all modules, plus additional specialist training courses, are available to members of the MLES during regular testing periods. Access to Hit Wizard Training can be made available to those placed elsewhere in the department who are interested in a move to this division. This can be arranged by the department head upon request, individual suitability permitting.

Aurors are an elite Magical Law Enforcement unit tasked with protecting the wizarding world from dark wizards and witches. They specialise in the identification and defence against dark magic and are taught to use any means necessary to take down a dark wizard; they are licensed to use even Unforgivable Curses if a situation calls for it.

The YATI programme offers comprehensive training in a range of modules, many of which are studied formally off site, while on-the-job training and shadowing occurs within the Department of Magical Law Enforcement.
All Aurors (whether they go through the Ministry's YATI scheme or another Ministry approved Auror Training programme) must meet the minimum requirements. They must show proficiency (at least a pass) in Stealth and Tracking, Advanced Magical Combat, and Concealment and Disguise, plus a minimum of five other specialist subjects. Oversees the security team
Responsible for the investigation of internal security breaches
Oversees security incident response systems within magical government
Assists with disciplinary and legal matters associated with breaches as necessary
Answers to and meets objectives set by Department Head
Liaises with other department heads as required
Able to step in where required to perform the roles of their team
Ministry Sentinel
Sets defensive wards and surveillance charms throughout the Ministry of Magic
Ensures the Ministry itself remains hidden from non-wizards in Muggle London
Focuses on the security of the Ministry environment, rather than of the employees
Defends the Ministry from outside forces as well as preventing security issues within
Performs routine surveys and assessments of the Ministry premises to ensure this
Ensures restricted areas remain restricted
May be called upon by any department head across the Ministry in order to check, establish, and enforce restrictions
Security Officer
Patrols and guards particular areas of the Ministry
Patrols and guards sites of Ministry interest around wizarding Britain
Works with Ministry Sentinels and Internal Investigations Liaisons as necessary
Works at direction of Head of Security and Department Head
Wand Weigher
Assesses, examines and identifies all wands coming into the Ministry of Magic
Records anomalies such as unregistered wands, or wands not registered to the bearer
Registers wands of new Ministry employees
Distributes temporary or replacement wands as necessary (at the discretion of Department Head)
Keeps a current list of employees who are licensed to carry a second wand
Follows up on all Ministry accounts held at Ollivanders
Keeps up to date with new cores and woods
Maintains the upkeep and condition of all Ministry spare wands
Based at the Security desk in the Atrium

The Wizengamot is wizarding Britain's judicial and legislative authority and serves both as high court of law and parliament. There are fifty members in the Wizengamot at any one time, made up of important personages of wizarding society. They are only summoned to the ministry when required and in most cases, only a selection of the fifty will be called upon at any one time. The Wizengamot wear plum coloured robes embroidered with a silver letter W when court is in session. The Minister for Magic, Senior Undersecretary to the Minister, and Head of the Department of Magical Law Enforcement have been known to attend significant trials and hearings.
The Wizengamot Administration Services office employs a court scribe to sit in on Wizengamot sessions, manage the Wizengamot roster, and work with all departments across the ministry, via the Department of Magical Law Enforcement in regards to setting court dates and hearings for offenders. They also help source mediators, lawyers and advisors as required by the public. The British Office of Wizarding Law provide courtroom prosecutors, mediators, documentation experts, and legislators as required by the ministry.

General Wizengamot duties include, but are not limited to:
Creating, passing, declining, repealing legislation that affect the British wizarding world
Trying cases and passing out the suitable punishment in cases of crimes (usually the most serious cases)
Dealing with matters that will affect a wizard's ability to continue using magic (i.e infractions that result in wand snapping and a ban from further magic)
Oversees both the Wizengamot Administration Services Office and the British Office of Magical Law
Requires a close working relationship with the Ministers Office and the Department of International Cooperation, as well as within the Department of Magical Law Enforcement itself
Responsible for appointing esteemed members of the public to sit on the Wizengamot
Provides support to the Ministry prosecution
Ensures all Wizengamot trials are fair and impartial
Liaises with the Wizengamot Chief Warlock and the Magical Law Enforcement Department Head as required

Information gained via Legilimency
Extracted memories
Information gained through the use of a Time-Turner
Ministry Jurisprudent
Advises on magical legal matters for individuals and/or the Ministry when new laws are being passed
Researches potential far-reaching effects of new laws and legislation; advises relevant parties regarding these matters
Requires a close working relationship with all Ministry departments
Works at the direction of the Wizarding Director of Public Prosecution, Wizengamot Commissioner and Deptartment Head of Magical Law Enforcement as indicated
Ministry based
Ministry Legislator
Works directly with the Minister for Magic and the Wizengamot in regards to drafting, presenting and passing new laws and legislation
May be required to review old laws and suggest amendments
Works closely with others in the division, particularly the Ministry Jurisprudent and Scrivener
Works at the direction of the Wizarding Director of Public Prosecution, Wizengamot Commissioner and Department Head of Magical Law Enforcement as indicated
