Connected to the Armour Gallery, the Trophy Room is where all awards, trophies, cups, plates, shields, statues, and medals are put on display behind crystal glass. Dating back centuries are the numerous achievements that have been made by those who've walked within these walls. When the sunlight shines through the windows and hits the glass just right, the items and names within glimmer and shine oh so bright.
Hundreds of names can be read here, ranging from the great Harry Potter, teachers and ministers of the past, many of today's famous Quidditch players, and more. Carefully looking at all of the names on each individual nameplate, some of you just might even find your parents' names here. Feel free to admire and strive to get your name listed somewhere in this room before you graduate. Just don't press your fingers against the glass or think about having a late-night duel here. You will be sitting here every night for detention until each trophy and plaque in sight is polished to perfection if you do.

History was not something that was very interesting to Vera. It was all dates, and people who were either really old or had been gone for like ever and ever. And majority of it was uninteresting facts. Like... who cared who created this potion or who first used that spell? It was cooler to KNOW the potion and the spell because in a duel or under an attack, you weren't going to win by shouting FACTS at someone.
And if you did? Lamest fight ever.
BUT a room full of history of people WINNING STUFF? That was kind of fun. And inspirational! Because Vera LIKED competition and she REALLY liked shiny things, so why wouldn't she want to look at a bunch of trophys and envision herself holding one of her own!? There was some reason her brother called her Magpie, after all.
Skipping into the trophy room she stood in the middle and did a quick turn while she looked around for where to start. Maybe it would be most interesting to see what Gryffindors were known for first? Vera bet they won ALL the time!
Starting at the house cup, she took a look at it before FROWNING. "Wait, RAVENCLAW? Do they even know how to have FUN though?" Probably, considering she knew nothing of the house. She was just salty.

Daniel didn't go to the trophy room very often. Nobody in his family had attended Hogwarts, therefore locating his family name on one of these trophies was impossible. And he seriously doubted Minjae had a prize. So, what led him here? Boredom at its finest. He had intended to investigate the locked door, but when he strolled by, there had been several other students there. Including one Atlas Flamsteed and seeing him outside of classes too was a bad day and he was not planning on ruining that.
Daniel turned his head as he read the list of names on the Prefects trophy after hearing someone else moving in the room. He had assumed he was the only one in the room. Curious to know who was there, the Hufflepuff wandered around a few displays before coming across a young girl. She was either a first- or second-year student. "What have you got against Ravenclaw?" he questioned, crossing his arms across his chest and resting against one of the display cases.

Clever? Hardly. Maybe with some of her nicknames, but they were more random word association than anything. Intellectual? Most assuredly not. Creative? Maybe with pranks every once in awhile. But those were still on whim and Vas had to do the planning.

It was like a really BIG number like 30 or something!" Because 30 must have been a lot when it was such an old age! The duelling club perked her up though, her frown vanishing underneath a smile. "Oooh, I want to! Do you duel? The OLD wandmaker told me my wand is really good for duelling, though I think defensive magic is supposed to be stronger. That doesn't sound nearly as fun, does it?" She'd much rather be on the attack than waiting for someone to come at her.
Probably why her fights with Vasco usuaaaaaally started with Vera as the offender.
"Hufflepuff! Is that the green or the yellow one?" Hmmm, Daniel though. She'd have to figure out what she was going to call him too. EVERYONE got a nickname, even if they didn't like it. In fact, sometimes she was more delighted when they didn't. Also, the fact he did not inquire who she was did not phase her, nor did she really even notice. If there was one thing Vera Brinley Thanatos excelled in, it was offering information that literally no one asked for. Call it her special ability. "I'm Vera! I'm a first year this year! Gryffindor!"

Had this girl just called one of history's greatest and most powerful wizards 'Dumblesnore'?! Daniel felt perplexed for a brief moment after hearing the nickname, but then he let out an extremely rare laugh. "Dumblesnore. Brilliant " Perhaps this kid wasn't one of the annoying ones. "Never heard of this Roonil guy" he shrugged.
When the girl asked if he duelled, Daniel nodded. "I do during club activities. But I wouldn't turn down a challenge outside the club" Although without any of the professors knowing seeing as duelling outside of classes was forbidden.
The Hufflepuff listened to the girl as she explained what kind of wand she had and he hated to burst her bubble. Actually, that was a lie. "The wandmaker told me the same thing about my wand" If she assumed she was special because she had a wand like that, she was mistaken. "It also has a rare core"HE was special.
Her next remarks reminded him of a seminar during Defense Against the Dark Arts."Well, if you use it correctly you can use defence as an attack"He favoured the offensive fighting style, but the seminar had taught him that defence was just as effective. "Do you know what the Shield Charm is? You can use it to block your opponent's attacks, but if you make it tougher, you can deflect some spells and send them back to the caster." Wasn't that amazing?
Daniel stared at the girl who introduced herself as 'Vera,' and put his hands in his jeans pockets. How could she not recognize which House belonged to which? He was a muggleborn who had learned this before he had even entered Hogwarts. "It's the yellow one" he answered. "Are you a muggleborn?"

....As much as Vera loved being called 'Brilliant', she wasn't sure why he was saying that. Was the name NOT Dumblesnore? Names were difficult for her to remember properly, which was why she usually resorted to nicknames or just... winging it. "Roonil Wazlib! Furry Potter's best friend!" How had he NOT heard of him? He was probably just as famous as Dumblesnore. Or... at least the very limited information she kept in her head from what she knew of history.
Very, very limited.
Her eyes were all sparkling and excited when he mentioned he wouldn't turn down a challenge outside of club and she bounced on her heels excitedly. "Will you duel me then!?' Did she know how to duel? Not in the slightest. BUT if her wand knew how to do it it would just come naturally. Right!? Ooh and look, they even had things in common with what their wands could do! She couldn't remember what was said specifically about her wand core, so instead she just settled on asking what his was. "Maybe we have the same! What's your wand's core? Mine is snidget feather! I don't think I've ever actually seen a snidget though. Have you?"
... Wait, defense as an attack? Her head tilted questioningly, but before she could fire off any questions, he was already offering more information. She liked this older student, he was such a wealth of information! "I haven't learned it yet but I've learned OF it! How do you learn to make it powerful though? Can you show me one?" Cue puppy dog eyes because she really, reaaaaally wanted to see it!
That was the first time she'd been asked if she was a muggle born, but given her lack of knowledge of the school itself, she probably shouldn't have been as surprised as she was by the question. "No, I'm a half blood! My papa is magic and so was my mama but... not my grandparents." Which while she thought that should make her a 'pureblood' or whatever, Papa tried to explain not really because their lineage had muggles in it too in the not so distant past. The whole blood thing was really confusing and outdated to her.

The repeat of the name Roonil Wazlib did nothing to spark Daniel’s memory until he heard the name ‘Potter’. He glanced at the girl as an imaginary lightbulb went off above his head and he wondered if he should correct her. "I think you're referring to Ronald Weasley. Harry Potter's best friend" Merlin's Beard. Who in their right mind would give their child the name "Furry"?. This girl apparently. He was already feeling sorry for any of her future children.
Daniel observed as she began to bounce on her heels eagerly, and he wondered whether he had done the same as a first-year. Perhaps he had. He had been eager to learn spells and had requested that several older students to show or teach him spells. However, now that he was on the receiving end, he saw how...annoying it was. ” Sure. Whatever" he muttered, rolling his eyes. "Do you even know any duelling spells because I don't want you to injure yourself" he asked, feigning concern.
He was grateful that the subject had shifted for the time being. He didn't want to duel a first year. He would have accepted the challenge instantly if she had been in her fifth year or older though. "I've only seen a snidget in my textbook" he said. Anyway, back to him. ” My wand core is the golden” he emphasized the word ‘golden’ because obviously, that was important ”horn of a Graphorn”
Daniel had a feeling Vera was going to ask a shield charm demonstration the moment he saw her bouncing on her feet earlier, and he eyed her as if assessing whether she was worth it. "No," he said after a short moment of thought. He didn't want to get in trouble for potentially damaging the trophies in the room.
He was surprised to learn that the girl was half-blood. He had assumed that because of her lack of knowledge of notable wizards, she would be a muggle-born. "Ah, okay." He responded lamely because it was the only thing he could think of. "I'm a Muggleborn. But my older brother also attended Hogwarts. He was also in Hufflepuff." which, now that he thought about it, was unnecessary information. "I suppose someone in my family is a squib, but I haven't identified who it was yet."

Her nose wrinkled when Daniel fixed the name, her eyebrows raising skeptically. "Who would name their kid Hairy? That's an adjective!" Which... furry was also but she hadn't particularly thought that was a good idea either. Ronald was in fact a step up though. Roonil was weird, though at least it couldn't have been confused with anything else. Ronald was just a normal, generic name. Vera was far better. The only one she could think of was a fashion designer. Though she was sure that comparison would make the long since passed designer roll in her grave from the food stain covered young girl.
WAIT. Did he really really just agree?! She gave a quick twirl in her excitement. The next question sobered her slightly, but she did her best not to show it because Daniel seemed likely to retract his agreement if she was utterly incompetent. Which... in knowledge she entirely was, but the wand maker SAID her wand would be good at it so she'd risk it. "Of course I do! I know a whole LOT." The lie came easy, but she'd make sure it wasn't a lie by the time it came down to it. She'd make sure she had at least TEN. And maybe she could even struggle her way through casting!
Hmm.. a textbook would be a good place to look for a snidget. She hadn't considered that, but then again when it came to most books she had an allergy. Except for pirate ones or those that could teach her useful spells. Creatures were cute, but she would much rather just get to play with one in it's habitat rather than read about it. "oooh, a GOLD graphorn? Is that kind of like a unicorn? Except it has a bunch of grapes where the horn would be?" She liked grapes, and the word sounded close enough to them to her!
Her excitement fell slightly as he declined to show her a shield charm, but she wasn't one easily dissuaded so she tried again, making her biggest puppy dog eyes. "But if you don't want to hurt me in a duel, I should know how to make a strong shield charm shouldn't I?"
He and his brother had both been Hufflepuff? This just perplexed her even further on why she and Vasco had then been separated. WHY did it seem like most siblings were in the same house and yet she and her TWIN were not!? "Isn't it weirder for siblings to not be in the same house??" A squib? He got the oddest look from her, eyebrows waaaay shot up into her hair line. "... why would you think someone in your family is a squid? Are you related to Bartholomew Henry?"

"What are you on about? Harry is a proper noun, not an adjective " he remarked, pinching the bridge of his nose, evidently irritated by the younger girl. His dark brown eyes shifted to the trophy room's entrance, hoping that one of the girl's friends would come in and whisk her away since he wanted nothing more than to be alone again. He was confused as to why he had even spoken to her in the first place.
"Yes. Sure you do " the teenager said with a roll of his eyes. Did she think he was stupid? Her chances of knowing enough duelling spells were extremely slim. But he also knew what it was like to be eleven. Which sounded like he was an old man now that he thought of it. But he too had been wide-eyed and fascinated by what the older students could do. And so, the Hufflepuff sighed and turned his gaze away from the display case to look at the Gryffindor. ”Look, why don’t you join the dueling club first and we’ll talk again after that” preferably not but at least for now he wouldn’t be stuck with her.
The Houses and their siblings. To his dismay, his mind immediately turned to Atlas. Both he and his twin brother Aries were in Gryffindor. But then he remembered the Nam siblings and shook his head. "Not really. Lisa and Evan are siblings who are both Ravenclaw, while their sister Maya is a Slytherin" When Maya's name was spoken, his ears reddened slightly. "Besides, You are your own person, aren't you?" he said.
”Squib! not Squi—“ he sighed in defeat, knowing it was futile and decided to have a bit of fun. ”Well. I guess i am” he shrugged. ”His sister married into our family many years ago" He looked directly at her "You know that Bartholomew used to be a human right? And that he got turned into the Giant Squid when his Animagus spell failed?” he shook his head.

Would admit not outloud wasn't entirely sure what a proper noun was, but knew hairy was an adjective so shot the older student an incredulous look. "It's an adjective. Because it's a descriptor. Like, covered in hair. Hairy." OR like furry, like she'd stated earlier. She didn't notice the look towards the door, having skipped a bit away to go look at all the Quidditch trophies, finally remembering why it was she had come here in the first place. She was snooping, naturally.
Well, she had thought he was very smart but he seemed confused on what an adjective was so now she had her own doubts about him. But also, it was certainly clear he was still waaaaaaaaay smarter than her. But this was another thing in which she would not admit. Not out loud to anyone anyways. Now he was reneging on actually dueling with her? The girl's attention turned back to him with a pout, but she nodded her head anyways. "Okay. Will they let first years join? How do I join? Who heads it? Are YOU in the duelling club?"
That was... a lot of names of people she had no idea who they were. There was very few people she so far remembered, and even then she wasn't entirely sure if she would know their given name. Evan, Lisa and Maya definitely didn't sound familiar. "It must be weird having THREE siblings and being the only one left out." That sounded sad. She wondered if the Slytherin was sad about it? "I AM but Vasco makes up for the very, very, very few good qualities I lack." Had she mentioned very few? "He is cautious and a planner and I'd... rather just do the thing!" Whatever the thing was. "So if we're better together, it seems like we should be the same house." And you know, not in the houses in which their individual attributes actually best suited. Pfft.
She raised an eyebrow at the beginning of a objection, but then when he relented she moved closer to pat the older boy's arm consolingly. "That sounds so TRAGIC. Does that mean his squid blood transferred to all of you? Having a squid as an animagus form also sounds like a huge disadvantage. You could only use it in water?? How is that helpful??? A bug is much better!" Would like to be a bug. "Oh, but.. I'm sorry for your family's misfortune. I won't tell anyone you're a squid."
Except she definitely would. And she'd also be calling him Squidward now - it seemed apt.

Daniel hadn't been this irritated with anyone since Jasper accused him of bullying V back in their first year. But when she said 'descriptor,' he understood their miscommunication.
The girl had already skipped away before he could open his mouth to explain, adding to his aggravation. Instead of turning around and exiting the room, as he could easily do now, Daniel observed the display cases she was gazing at and followed her. He knew that Harry Potter had been a Quidditch Captain, and this was the perfect opportunity to show her which NAME he had meant. "Come here. I want to show you something" he said in his most calm voice ever.
He wasn't certain if first-year students could join the dueling club, but he didn't think it would hurt to ask. "Yes, I am. Should I ask for you?" he asked.
He reasoned that being the lone sibling not in the same House as the others would be strange. But that was not the purpose of the House system. He shrugged his shoulders as she told him about her brother, who seemed like he belonged in Ravenclaw or Slytherin. "There would be a fifth House if you two had to be together," he replied. "Students do sneak into other Houses besides their own though," he stated nonchalantly. "Don't expect it to be that difficult. All you need is someone to give you the password, and you're in. You didn't hear that from me though" he said with a little smile.
The pat on his arm was met with a raised eyebrow on his own as he looked at the younger Gryffindor. He had never met someone this gullible before. He took a hand out of his pocket and reached up to flick her forehead. "I'm not a squid" he withheld calling her an idiot. Was he afraid that she would go around telling everyone he was part squid? Absolutely not. It would just be the weird ramblings of a hyper-active first year and anyone with more than 2 braincells would think so.

If one was to ask her twin brother, being an annoyance was Vera's something she excelled in. It was actually like a superpower.
Hearing Squid boy ask her to come, she turned her gaze towards him, tilting her head to the side before then skipping his direction too. "Is it going to be a picture of your squid ancestor?!
