The Domes

A little way off the path between the castle and the lake stand several half-sphere outdoor shelters, known as the domes. Made from a sturdy and clear, charmed material that keeps the temperature inside relatively comfortable, and the air fresh, the main purpose of the domes is a location to hang out, alone or with a few friends. They also serve as impromptu shelters during sudden downpours, cool relief from the summer heat, or a place to warm benumbed fingers and toes during bitingly cold winters. Each is accessible by a simple door made of the same material. No need to reserve them - just make sure no one is already there before entering!

The domes are near to each other, but not clustered too close together. They are completely transparent; those outside can see in, and those inside can see out. Occupied domes will light up - though the light has no obvious source - useful and downright cosy on overcast or gloomy days. The groundskeeper, and any staff member looking out of the windows on this side of the castle, will be able to see the domes if they're lit up after dark, so unless you want to light the 'hey, look at me, I'm out after curfew' beacon, don't even bother coming this way. Better yet, don't break curfew at all. Javier does not take kindly to kids messing around on his grounds after curfew.

Each dome contains five comfortable chairs, and can comfortably hold as many students, maybe a couple more if you don't mind a tight squeeze. Try to refrain from seeing how many students can fit inside one of these things at once. Getting a score of kids hopelessly stuck will not have a good outcome for anyone, but it's up to you if you want to test that theory out for yourself.

Keighley had every intention of taking a long walk around the grounds for a bit of fresh air. Then when she grew tired of walking she would sit beneath a tree near the lake and play her guitar for Kanga her cat. Whom just so happened to be padding alongside her as per usual. "What should I play today, Kanga?" Keighley smiled as she glanced over at the sleeping cat as if she had expected an answer.

Victoria just had the urge to be alone. This is why I barely left my dorm at all before Christmas...Merlin...everything is awful. AWFUL. She thought as she approached the fairly aesthetic domes that were situated on the grounds. It was daytime, so she didn't immediately notice the glow from the one she slipped into.

Nor had she noticed the girl even though the domes were literally see-through.

And boy, did she feel stupid when the door shut, she heard the guitar, and noticed the cat and girl. Her cheeks turned red, and before she could apologize, she released a light SCOFF and huffed. "Great. I can't even be ALONE properly. So unobservant," she scolded herself, kneeling down to gesture the cat over if they wanted to come over. "Sorry if I ruined your playing. Or alone time."

Only a few random chords had been strummed when the door to the dome had opened. Bright blue eyes shifted that way immediately with the wishfulness that it may have been Jude. It was not. She really needed to stop expecting it to always be him when she knew very well that he was busy with his studies.

Keighley eyed the other girl with the slightest tilt of her head. "It's alright.. I haven't really started playing anything yet and I don't mind not being alone." She wasn't exactly what anyone would call a loner. Being around others was much nicer in her opinion. From the sounds of things though, it seemed like the other girl had wanted to be by herself.

Kanga eyed the newcomer curiously before leaping down off of her current spot on a cushion and padding over for some pets. "Are you alright? You seem a little.. upset?" Angry maybe? Keigh couldn't really be too sure but she didn't mind sharing the space if V didn't.

V began to give the kitty some chin scritches and sighed. “I guess. But I’m still sorry.” Her eyes roamed around the dome, enjoying the way it felt to be inside one of them. It was one of the most peaceful spots on Hogwarts’ campus. “What are you playing anyway??” She stood up, twisted her back in a stretch, and took a seat close to Keighley without being right next to her.

She got her journal out to start writing casually while they talked. Journaling was reaaaaally helping her regulate her emotions and thoughts lately, and since she had come down here to do it alone, she figured she could get it done if she were not having a super serious conversation with a classmate.

Don't mind Kanga while she meow's at the slightly older girl to keep her attention focused on those head scratchies please. The sweet playful cat may have also lightly pawed at V's hand once or twice as well. She was more than welcome to talk to her hooman girl but don't go forgetting about her.

"Really, it's okay, honest. I don't mind the company at all. I prefer it most of the time." Keighley smiled warmly at V and sat up a little straighter in her own seat. "Nothing really yet.. I was jut strumming chords. I can play a song or two from my brothers wrock band." It was one of her favorite bands so it only made sense that she knew how to play some of the songs.

Her eyes traveled to the journal that V was writing in. "My guitar playing won't bother you?"
