Default Balcony

The balcony located on the fourth floor is one of the few balconies in the castle. In an opening along the corridor, on the opposite side of the castle from the library, is where you can find this particular balcony. If you ever need a break from doing that lengthy Arithmancy homework or need a place to relax with a friend, this balcony is a great place to get a few minutes of fresh air before getting back to work again.

You will notice that you are approaching the balcony when you can feel a slight change in temperature. During the autumn and spring seasons, the breezes that come through this opening are inviting. The winter months, however, bring forth a chill, even with the nearby torches being lit. No matter the temperature, the fourth-floor balcony always provides some of the most breathtaking sights of the grounds below and mountains beyond as well as a clear view of the Whomping Willow in all of her glory. Keep note that it does get a little wet here when it rains, so make sure you conjure an umbrella.

"Oh, I'm sure she's fine," Mia reassured Meda with a casual wave of her hand. Pygmy puffs, though small and delicate, also had a lot of padding in the form of fur. Which is to say, a pygmy puff had a lot of leeway of a vine started wrapping around its...puff.

Portraits, on the other hand...that was weird. And their classrooms. Poor Neva. Luckily she had a bit more flexibility in terms of classroom space, but it was still a lot of work keeping them at bay enough to conduct classes every day. "I haven't spoken to any portraits," she admitted. "It's strange how aggressive they are, getting into classrooms and all, it's not like there's much sunlight inside the castle to encourage them." In the greenhouses, sure, maybe that made sense for them to spread quickly. But inside the castle? It really didn't seem like a favorable condition for plants. "I wish we knew what they were, I'm worried it'll be poisonous if some of the creatures decide to snack on it." The winged horses particularly worried her, their diets were so particular.

"I imagine it just found itself a cozy spot to curl up, that's all." Neva wasn't naturally gifted at reassuring people, but she could certainly follow Mia's lead.

"Very strange," She agreed, a frown tugging at the corners of her mouth. And the fact that it was glowing while the other plants seemed to be dying off, well..it didn't give her a positive feeling, that's for sure. "It's the resilience that worries me, if I'm being honest. They just keep coming back." Look, not that she was some plant killer or anything, but she had tried to rid her classroom of the things over and over. "Maybe we go to June, see if she has any insight or needs any help?" Neva would be happy to lend a hand if it meant reclaiming her space.

Meda thought on the things that were being said. "It is rather strange, I know some students have tried to remove it in a few places and you are right, they come right back. If I didn't know any better I would say they were enhanced with a spell to grow back immediately, but at the same time I'm not fully sure they are, I think it is just the type of plant maybe?"

She had never even thought of it being back for animals, she knew many plants were bad for cats, but other animals she hadn't even taken a moment to consider with it as many places as it is. "Are there vines in the stables too?" That was a silly question, of course if they were in the castle they were in the stables. Those things seemed to be everywhere.

"I think finding June is a great idea, I was going to head to the library, I could check in there and then meet up with you later." With that a thought crossed her mind, "Maybe a Herbology book or two could help us." It was a thought, but Meda wasn't sure, June would probably know best.

A spell to make the plant grow back? Mia was surprised Meda thought of such an option, unlikely though it seemed. Who would have cast a spell on a plant at Hogwarts? Unless it was some experiment gone wrong. If so, this was certainly a case in support of tight restrictions on experimental magic.

"In the stables, in the gardens, I feel like I spend all my free time trying to cut them back so the creatures can graze," Mia said, feeling suddenly overwhelmed. "I'll stop by June's on my way back outside," she agreed. She stepped back toward the door, giving one last glance out toward the grounds before nodding to her fellow professors.

Neva nodded, just glad they were taking some kind of action against the plants, even if it was just to consult with their resident Herbology professor.

"Perfect. I'm going to see if I can do a bit more vine management in the meantime. Even if they do grow back, I don't want any more trips and falls because of those things today." With a sigh, the Charms professor headed off to do just that.

Meda nodded and sighed at the management, it was starting to feel like a losing battle, but she understood trying to keep up with it. Giving once more glance at the balcony she started to turn away.

"Brilliant, I will see you both soon and hopefully we can figure all this out."

She was hopeful at least and if they couldn't maybe they could just put some color charms on the vines to make them at least prettier in different areas.
