Pathways

A set of paths, some stone, most dirt, link the wooden bridge to almost every other area of the Hogwarts grounds. You will more than likely use these pathways at some point to reach your grounds-based classes, to visit other outdoor locations, or simply to take a walk and clear your head. This is a quiet area of the grounds with the soft sound of leaves rustling in the wind or lightly crunching below your feet. Doesn't the air just seem fresher around here somehow?

Walk with a friend, sit and relax on one of the many benches placed in intervals along the numerous pathway routes, climb a nearby tree, take a moment to appreciate the great outdoors in this breathtaking part of the country. Just be careful not to trip on loose stones or roots as you go. The groundskeeper does what he can to keep the pathways maintained, but he is, after all, only human.

Was she safe here?

Clearly not because as her brown eyes scoured the pathways, trying to figure out who she was exactly supposed to be attacking, she heard a splatter on her arm. Startled by the pink paint on her arm, she stood abruptly only to get hit with some red paint.

MERLIN.

The game was on, wasn't it?

The Slytherin darted away from the bench, now that her location had been disclosed, it was not a safe place for her to be hiding. Maya was practically a sitting duck. Wand in hand, she ran to hide behind a tree and spotting the professor, she grinned. "Pingo orange!" And then back into hiding though she wasn't sure how concealed she actually was. She would have to find Margaret and Cooper next to thank them for the bright paint she was covered in.

The splattering of yellow hit her directly, adding a bright flourish to her top. And practically making her a beacon, probably. She glared in the direction she thought the yellow--and Cooper's voice--had come from, aiming again to return the painty favor. "Pingo purple!" she whispered. Better not to draw any extra attention to herself. There were other colors, sure, but...she liked purple. And it was working for her so far.

What wasn't working, apparently, was her hiding space. Distracted as she'd been by trying to it Cooper, she was soon splattered in the arm with pink paint. Groaning, she ducked her head (and arms!) below the top of the bush again.

How was she meant to win if every time she aimed a spell, she got hit?

Cooper would be a very frustrating person to duel with, truly. Rather than be on the offensive, he would like stay on defense and even then it was unlikely that he would even cast spells and rather focus his efforts on physically avoiding spells. Of course, there were those that could not be avoided...though that was a thought for another occasion.

Attention divided between trying to keep tabs on Mamie, Maya, AND the professor...Cooper's brown eyes happened in the direction of the the man as his head popped out. "Pingo purple!" he cast, in honor of the color still splattered on his back between his shoulders, towards Professor Amstern just as another little jet of color (orange) came from the area across from him. Aha!

Leaping out from where he had ducked behind, Cooper inadvertently thrust himself directly in the path of Mamie's purple magic...AGAIN. Only this time it splattered him all across the front. Face purple and hair clumped together in places with thick purple coloring, the seventh year cracked up (loudly, mind you) after a couple of seconds. He must look utterly ridiculous.

Not to mention just standing there between a couple of trees all out in the open.

Cyril was feeling quite pleased with himself upon noting that his spell had in fact made contact with Ms. Turov, though his elation was short lived as he was hit with a splatter of orange he had not seen coming over from Ms. Nam. He looked her direction, feigning offense. And here he had thought an alliance would be possible!

He was not a very good actor, however. So he was sure truthfully all his face showed was his outward amusement and all that he'd really managed to do was leave himself out in the open even longer for Mr. Branxton's spell to make contact. The gentleman look almost like a representation of Halloween, with the colors he was currently sporting. In an effort to not get hit again, he popped himself back down into the bush, shaking it visibly as he attempted to waddle his way through the small surface in order to give himself opportunity for a mad dash.

Getting to the edge, his sights set on a tree in the distance, Cyril geared himself to run before the laugh drew his attention and he noted the position the Ravenclaw had managed to put himself in. How could he resist another spell attempt? "Pingo Blue!" He had no idea how well off his aim was, as the moment he cast he went streaking through the open air to get to new coverage.
