Chelliephone's Salute to the OG Eagle

SEEKTOBER 2022

Hello and thank you for peeking into my Seektober thread for 2022. I flip flopped a bit on which Professor because these lists are all brilliant, BUT in honor of my first Ravenclaw graduating soon, it seemed fitting to focus on Filius Flitwick. Last year, my challenge was completed using mixed media but this year I hope to complete through drawings only. I had originally planned on doing the aparecium challenge but... see above regarding flip flopping. I did already print the printable so in an effort to save some trees, I'll be using that to complete for Flitwick. ^_^

For those who followed last year, Seektober was a fun journey my kids and I did together and we'll be reprising that a bit with my oldest doing drawings with me each day, so don't be surprised if there are two compilations that pop up here and there!

Without further ado, let's get creative!

There was an obvious answer on what to draw for this prompt, and I absolutely went for it. The colors are a little darker than what I'd been hoping for (and then the picture made them even darker still!) but I think for as small of a scale, I'm happy with it.

I love owls, so any excuse to draw a cutesy one and I am in. I'm not sure if I loved him, but finishing up his color I got attempted puns from both the daughter ("it's owltastic") and the husband ("well, owl'll be") so I'm going to call it a win.

OMG these are so cute!! You're getting some nice, vibrant colors with these markers too.

FearlessLeader19 10-06-2022 12:03 AM

Ugh. I cannot decide which of these I like the most! :x3:

Also, I can soooo hear Char and Kevin making those puns :rotfl:

Felixir 10-06-2022 09:20 PM

these are all so fuuuun ;; very vibrant and colourfowl (double pun in there i'm so sorry). I really love that feather and the... well, the feathering on it. can't wait to see more of your prompts ^_^

Cassirin 10-07-2022 12:22 AM

The little owl is so SWEET. And the frog. Their little faces. How dare.

Ahh thank you! The markers are actually just my kids crayolas because I lost my preferred set in spring cleaning

Thank you! I've really enjoyed making these so far! The pun fits the running theme so I'm glad there's an addition!

Thank you, Ern! :3

4. Ravenclaw

https://img.nickpic.host/6SpQKN.png

So far this prompt I went a little more character themed. My very first Ravenclaw, Tavion Sawyer, is O B S E S S E D with Pokemon, so for Ravenclaw I wanted to try to draw one in honor of him! Tav is super family oriented too and his cousin always loved the Galarian Ponyta the most so... here's my attempt!

Chelliephone 10-07-2022 02:10 AM

5. Parchment

https://img.nickpic.host/6SpXGO.jpg

Another character themed prompt. Evan, my current Hogwarts character, loves Scribbulous Writing Instruments the most of any of the other shops. But he had a little run in with one of his sisters in his early years and it resulted in ink ruining his favorite jumper, which I just thought would be kind of fun to draw.

Suziella 10-07-2022 02:11 AM

omg! I love all of these so much! The little feather and the owl are probably my favorites! Great job hunny!

sweetpinkpixie 10-07-2022 09:55 AM

aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah I love love love love little doodles! These are so precious and so full of character. I think your 'parchment' prompt is my favorite thus far and the story behind it is so sweet (even if Evan suffered a little)

Cassirin 10-08-2022 01:14 AM

I think I love the stories behind your interpretations of the prompts as much as I love the drawings themselves. The colors are so vivid and fun! I really love the sweater this time around, with the little details. So sweet.

ArianaBlack 10-08-2022 02:34 AM

Okay, but why is this feather so majestic. I want ten of them to hang all over my walls. As I’m looking through your thread, I am so struck by your use of colors !!! The owl in particular is so, so cute. I would like to pick it up and slip it into my pocket. The amount of details you’ve managed in such a tiny space. I’m beyond impressed. THIS FROG. I am essentially live tweeting rn, scrolling up and typing as I stumble upon each of your drawings, sorry for the chaos. But this FROG. With the lil flower. HE IS PERFECT and I love him. You did such a phenomenal job with this Pokemon depiction omg. The EYES. THE COLORS! Thank you for taking us on this journey of your thought process for the parchment prompt! Poor Ev, but honestly? If it led to this prompt. Worth it. A sacrifice for the greater good

FearlessLeader19 10-08-2022 11:54 PM

Jude and I are LOVING this Evan-related inspiration :whaa: That's the cutest jumper I've ever seen :3

emjay 10-09-2022 02:34 PM

Crayola makes some good quality products tbh. And you are getting really nice results with the markers. I really love the character inspiration you are putting into the prompts. It's always so interesting to know the story behind them. I'm not super into Pokemon to know much about it, but your Ravenclaw prompt gives me some My Little Pony vibes too, which I absolutely love lol!

Felixir 10-09-2022 07:55 PM

can I just say, I'm really enjoying how colourful all your prompts are, they all seem so lively and vibrant and ugh I do so love. also the thought you put behind the prompts. and the detail in those teeny tiny little boxes. I'm a big fan of your parchment prompt, I think it came out really well, and I always approve of a healthy dose of pokemans

also can't wait to see how all these look on the page once you're done (if you're going to show us of course, heheh)

I'm having a ton of fun with them and I like seeing the page fill up but... goodness the small space is difficult! Thank you, Kath <3 Evan suffered for a good cause because it's a fun story for him

Thank you, Ern! I always figure my doodle with no context on why would make no sense

I have noted your order!! This is not chaos, I'm a big fan of the live tweet responses and your kind words are giving me all the warm and fuzzies! Ev survived the loss of a sweater and if memory serves, his sister was not without loss too. I just wish I could remember if it had been Maya or Lisa  Thank you for swinging through and sharing your support! :glomp:

I had a lot of fun drawing it and remembering his misery accident. Thank you, Alicat!

I had definitely not noticed that as much before embarking on this journey! But I'm honestly turning into a fan. They're all pretty bright and saturated and I'm a big fan of loud colors so I'm enjoying using them. Thank you! :3 Looking at the ponyta again, I can definitely see the My Little Pony to it too! Which is equally a loved show in this household.

Ahh, thank you Felix! I'm liking the vibrancy of most of these. I'm definitely drawn to louder colors that really pop, and it's been fun to see those work decently with these doodles. Thank you so much!

I'm looking forward to the overall outcome too, and I'll definitely share it! My tiny humans have also been filling out pages that I'll throw up at the end too! They are BRIGHT and I love.

6. Feather

https://img.nickpic.host/6uiHMP.png

I did not read all the way through the list to notice there was also a feather prompt when I did the first one, but I'm glad I didn't because it pushed me to just think further outside the obvious for this prompt! Another Evan inspired - Ev's very first friend in the magical world (Solana played by MunchyBubbles) was a big fan of Fwoopers and so that ended up being one of the first magical things Evan was introduced to. From there, every year for holidays he would get Sol new Fwooper feather quills. So... naturally, I had to try drawing a Fwooper for him.

I don't know that I LOVE him, I think I could have figured a better way to blend the bright colors for him and I definitely don't like the background color I had used, BUT he was a LOT of fun to doodle.

Chelliephone 10-10-2022 01:15 AM

7. Books

https://img.nickpic.host/6uifsF.png

How could I not do a little bookshelf box for books? I just like doing little book cases and trying to make up silly book names. This time, I decided once I'd gotten it drawn out to have my kids give me titles. So we have the books "Pink Rider" and "Cocomelon" from my daughter, and "Blue Ninja" on the green book (he was VERY specific) and Power Ranger from my son. It's fun seeing them getting excited about the little doodles too. :3

Chelliephone 10-10-2022 01:18 AM

8. Accio

https://img.nickpic.host/6uiNkM.png

Accio is one of those spells that I often wish was a real thing, because just THINK of being able to use it for all the lost items!! I went with a little lost and found for this prompt, for all of the things I wish I could accio in my daily life. The missing sock, hair ties, THE TV REMOTE, Larry the cucumber's hairbrush!! So many things. I also added little marbles throughout to fill the space and because it gave me a chuckle whilst I was doodling.

BanaBatGirl 10-11-2022 12:58 AM

These are so cute!! And you're so good at coloring! :x3: Brilliant interpretations of the prompts!

FearlessLeader19 10-11-2022 11:51 PM

This thread is just cuteness overload!!! My fave of the recent batch is definitely the books!!!

PS: do I get something Manny-related? :butshy2:

Cassirin 10-12-2022 01:29 AM

The Fwooper is the CUTEST, oh my gosh. I love that little cranky face. And it's so charming that your kiddos are helping and cheering you on while you draw. I think a blue book with a green name makes perfect sense, personally.

I often think that, of all the spells, Accio is the one I wish was real TOO. Just bring me the thing I want, especially the lost thing. Thank you for Larry's hairbrush, so we always know where to find it.

sweetpinkpixie 10-12-2022 03:14 AM

Larry the cucumber's hairbrush! (I understood that reference!). That fwooper really came out great and I love how you get your kids involved with some of the decision making process for the finer details - it makes Seektober even more of a time capsule of the moment :loved:

Emzily 10-12-2022 08:15 AM

Your Fwooper :x3: SO CUTE!!!! CHELLIE (my phone autocorrected your name to all caps and I’m going with it) I love how colourful and detailed each of your pieces are!! Looking forward to seeing more of your fun creations. :loved:
