Hello and thank you for peeking into my Seektober thread for 2022. I flip flopped a bit on which Professor because these lists are all brilliant, BUT in honor of my first Ravenclaw graduating soon, it seemed fitting to focus on Filius Flitwick. Last year, my challenge was completed using mixed media but this year I hope to complete through drawings only. I had originally planned on doing the aparecium challenge but... see above regarding flip flopping. I did already print the printable so in an effort to save some trees, I'll be using that to complete for Flitwick.
For those who followed last year, Seektober was a fun journey my kids and I did together and we'll be reprising that a bit with my oldest doing drawings with me each day, so don't be surprised if there are two compilations that pop up here and there!
So for this prompt, I think this is the one that I challenged myself the most on. I am terrible at drawing people in general, and i've never tried a side profile like this one. It was difficult and I wouldn't say it's excellent, but I tried and all in all I'm okay with how it turned out!
Ravenclaws and all their intelligence are confused by difference between and Eagle and a Raven. So for the Eagle prompt, I naturally had to draw a raven. and I think I
might love him the best, merely because work on him gave the smallest amount of a feeling of redemption after the other sad birds I also really like how he turned out with having inverted the colors and making his background dark and him primarily white. I was worried about him just being a blob.

The pup is so cute!
I had to laugh at your despair over not knowing what birds look like. I feel like this any time I draw something. I've been looking at birds my whole life, but the minute I have a pencil in my hand, I feel like my brain goes "is circle with legs? where does beak go? why does it look like potato?" I just short circuit.
You're really keeping up on the prompts, and I bet the color squares are just super happy making! The colors you're using are making ME happy, at least. And I do think that raven is worth being super proud about.

Your side profile and redemption raven came out very nice! You Avis doodle gave me a giggle and I echo Ern on the struggles of manifesting something you have seen all the time and just NOT being able to get your brain and hand to cooperate. These are all really cute, Chellie. Those big ol' eyes on your puppy I want to squish and snuggle it!

Oh wow, you have so many cute and vibrant little drawings in here since I last commented! I really like how Dissendium turned out. I know profiles and faces in general can be challenging and you did really well with it. She looks just like a statue and just how I imagine she would be! I really love Mischief too and I think the concept is perfect for the prompt. I enjoyed Avis too - definitely look like birds to me!! And I love that poor kid's expression lol.

Ahh thank you!
For real! It's something so simple that you wouldn't think would just... fly out your head and yet. The beak placement really was what was throwing me.
I'm glad the colors are making you happy! I'm liking the way it all looks. It's just so vibrant! Thank you for all the nice comments and encouragement!

The kids and I made an afternoon of it!
Ahh, thank you! I do too. Purple and green is so fun, even if it really only makes me think of the Joker. Except... there is nothing wrong with that. Thank you friend

Thank you! The not being able to draw the birds feels like that phenomena of saying a word so many times it's no longer a word. Or like.. when someone asks you to define a very simple word and the word itself is the only definition you can come up with. Thank you, Kath! I'm a big fan of how he came out :3

Thank you, MJ! I was a little nervous to even share Dissendium because it was so out of the comfort zone. I appreciate the kind words! Ahh and I'm glad the little blobs in Avis represent birds! lol Very basic expressions are best I can do, but this one was very fitting so it worked. Thank you again!
27. Underestimated
I struggled for a bit on what to draw for this one. But Evan, who has always preferred the muggle parts of his life, and my character Mycelia who is a squib with three magical siblings, both HOLLERED at me to remind me muggles and no majs are the most highly underestimated. They gave me some direction but... it still took a bit to figure what to do from there, until a Muggle Studies lesson by Rosalie Applewood (AlwaysSnapesGirl) came to mind where the kids experienced camping - the muggle way. So then came along this little doodle of a campfire. Which is ... really simple, but I like it a lot. Flames are fun.
I recently read Carve the Mark by Veronica Roth for my Bookseekers challenge, and it put me on a nostalgia path of Divergent so I re-watched the movies (yikes) and was thinking about all the different factions. So with my mind already on this railway, kindness brought the Amity faction to mind and I attempted to draw their sigil. I'll be honest, I do not like this one the most out of any from this month. But coloring it more fall like colors restored it a little bit for me.
Here is how the completed page looks of all of my prompts, and under the spoilers are the sheets my kids filled in. The kids really just wanted to use the boxes as explorations of color, which however they want to art is good with me! It was interesting to see even just the differences of what tones they each gravitated towards.

You did it! I love the final project, and I'm delighted by the minis' sheets too! They did so good! I'm overusing my exclamation points, but !!!!!
I didn't realize Veronica Roth was back being a menace to society. Is her book worth looking into? Should I ask you this question in the Book Club instead?

AAAAAAH! I was not expecting a three for one in your final post gosh your kids' versions are just so darling. I love it. And all three of you have such vibrancy in your color choices - clearly a family resemblance.
Congratulations on completing your challenge, Chellie

Congratulations on finishing all the prompts! I really enjoyed your vibrant and colorful takes on each one. They look amazing all together on one page and I love how your kiddos took part too!

*rolls up sleeves and brings you my live reactions because it's been a minute*
... *under the spoiler tag though bc so many*
SPOILER!!: this one right here
cushions is so FUN, so much colour and detail in there, holy heckle. and i know the fidelius charm one did not turn out like you'd hoped but (alas) so much of art seems to be about figuring out what doesn't work and as a system it's very disrespectful tbqh!!! but I really enjoy the concept behind it all the same, and those colours are v pretty. re blue, what can I say, I love the blues here, and I love the sky/sea/deep sea situation. and your take on mischief is absolutely perfect idea and well executed
re avis BIRDS ARE SO HARD TO DRAW. they look like they shouldnt be but they really are. but these are absolutely birds!!! and again I'm so amazed at you making something look so obviously like what it is even in that teeny tiny space. immobulus is so fun, and i looooove the colours you used in lady liberty there, one of my fav combos. and re bronze: idk if this was your intention but the medal ribbon being blue and orange-aka-pseudo-bronze was a nice touch in your ravenclaw challenge.
purple and green in confundo. big approve. v nice. and your statue in dissendium is sO GOOD wow. so much statue-character in there. also, that is a beautiful white raven ;; I think that turned out so well. and the puppy in playful is so cute, I may have to temporarily suspend my judgement of all puppies being little demons. those big eyes don't fool me.
your underestimated prompt is so warm and cosy... and I really just want to eat those marshmallows tbh. just... as I really want to eat that cupcake *salivates* I don't want to eat ariel though, even though there's already a fork handy - but I DO think she's super adorable here, and I love the way you framed this piece and had her hair take up most of it. perfect. aaaAAAAND kindness I think looks really neat (I'll be honest, whenever I used to reel off the factions, amity would be the one I always forgot).
I loooooove seeing all the vibrant squares together, they are such happy little squares ;; and seeing how your [s]goblins[s] kids experimented with the challenge squares too is so neat and so cute. bbys doing art ;;
congratulations on completing seektober! it's been so fun to see all your art this year :3
