I don't understand how that shape eluded me so much) my feelings towards them have mellowed a little. but I do keep seeing the mistakes, and I won't forget the bad times we had, so we are never ever ever getting back together.

uh-huh, mhm, okay, not-a-libra. but aLsO I was a little torn on the font colour for the abra one cause I did have like an off-white which looked clean and nice and it worked stuff but it just didn't feel ~right~ and I did just really like the pink in the end. also thank u for bringing your gryffindor energy to this one and also for your many (many) KiNd WoRdS.

aaa thank you! I think that's probably what I like best about it, like the part I think came out the way I'd hoped. as for the signatures, I think adding text is the make-or-break part for me, I still haven't figured out the logic behind what works where and why, so it's a lot of trial and error. so I'm really glad you think it's working here

I was so nervous with shading the mask, like... I knew it needed to be very light but then it's a lot easier to mess up and harder to fix, whereas my other stuff, there's a lot going on and it makes it a little easier to subtly correct a mistake. tried to keep it looser in the shading again for that reason, and to avoid overworking it.

I've not seen Phantom live either, though I'd really love to. right now I play the soundtrack a lot when I draw

once again I am not super happy with this but I do plan to go in and tidy it up or redo it entirely in the future when I'm not pushed for time. the hair makes me twitch.

this was originally just 'earth' but then I was like ah heck and made it 'air' too

the thinking behind this is that theo and cooper just sort of balance each other out really well, and complement each other despite being very different. cooper is one of the few things/people/whatever that keeps theo grounded when he really just wants to be in his own head and away from the world (and sometimes when he doesn't want to be in his own head and needs someone to pull him back). the earth to his air. or whAtEvER.

but then also you can flip it, cause theo is so calm and weirdly solid about things and when cooper is spiralling, sometimes theo's presence is just sort of calming and grounding. listen i dunno it's a weird dynamic but it works. best bro.

kath, who plays cooper, told me I must relay the JOURNEY I took for cooper's face. in the original picture he looks about 25, but otherwise it worked. so I downloaded an app to make him look a bit younger and did my best to remove the stubble and then used about eight billion layers, filters, and adjustments to get it to this point. nightmare. theo's side was done in about 20 minutes, cooper took... hours. which definitely speaks to the juxtaposition of their personalities and who is the more laidback of the two. life art imitates art.

also the ties are blue and bronze and it's totally to make the people happy!!!

and it's totally not because I just kept failing at making them silver

(bc I prefer the blue and silver honestly)

That pink from his lips carrying over to the shirt and then fading into the text

Ugh, I just love the unexpected bromance between Theo and Cooper and the theme for this manip has me SO EMO I literally CaNNoT.

That ferret is SO stinking cute. I just wanna squish and cuddle it. The pencil strokes make it feel so soft and I think it works great not in ink, honestly. The little beady eyes are just perfection.

also I think if I could make something look soft and squishy in something as potentially harsh and unforgiving as ink, idk. what a rush that would be. but given my propensity to mess up on the very first pen stroke, I haven't risked it yet. maybe when I have more time (except i never seem to get anything done without a 'deadline' so uh)

I know what the prompt was referring to but toby was too loud to ignore. that boy was bouncier than any character I've ever played. so he gets a spring. his favourite season is also spring so it works.

anyway I didn't learn my lesson from the spectrespecs and quelle surprise I really don't like this one at all so let's bounce swiftly along

I'm very much playing catch up now so we'll see how well this goes

a lot of my characters play chess so this could have gone to any of those, but to nemesis upstead, life and chess go hand in hand, except the actual board game hasn't held their interest for years

the rook piece is a castle, and hogwarts is a castle, hogwarts has battlements. chess is kind of like a battle. so I drew some battlements; nem used to sit up on the battlements at hogwarts sometimes.

anyway I went all around the houses with the interpretation and when I finally found a reference image I liked, it looked like a rook anyway. smh. again, this is one that looked slightly better on paper. but I got really impatient with it and was not fully engaging my brain before I made a bunch of pen lines and I think that's... clear.

ezra is unhappy with me for drawing/posting a rabbit when the prompt is 'hare', cause he doesn't like the way I'm interpreting prompts at all. he'll just have to deal with it.

hares and rabbits are in the same family, as far as I know (leporidae!!), and that's where the association took me because ezra is just obsessed with rabbits, and they're also a source of comfort. if he's freaking out or super detached, throwing bunnies at him tends to be a good plan of action. he's also got a long-standing love of alice's adventures in wonderland, and through the looking glass, so I was tempted to try and draw the march hare but. uh. not happening. rabbit it is.

this is a (young?) thrianta, one of his favourites.

the spring was difficult. ultimately drew two parallel lines for the outline to get the coiled parts to line up on the ends and still didn't quite manage. I redrew it... so many times.

and and and thank you. those things below the merlons and crenels on the towards (the modillions??? I'm googling but still uncertain) were a pain to figure out but I was determined to go with this take on the prompt for this little nemesis of mine

springy little tobias ;; I think the shading saves that spring in some places just as much as it does the opposite in others. I get a bit heavy-handed with the pen at times. also after all the chess analogies I've made about little nemrod I couldn't not go with them x_x (I have a book on chess to relearn from the beginning but i set it aside 6 months ago and haven't touched it since)

they're not all here, mostly the ones who gave me the fewest problems with images - when I have time to mess with layer masks I want to do another for lucky and his little brother. nem and kaiser get two each cause I ended up both giving them more hashtag aesthetic type things, both with no text because in the end they made more sense that way. both characters feature heavily in my signature rotation already.
