I'm taking inspiration from one of sweetpinkpixie's ideas and basing some of my pieces on my own RP characters, as well as the provided prompts. I'll be choosing prompts based on which I'm feeling particularly inspired by, and same for characters when I incorporate them into the piece.
I am still not confident in my ability to draw figures and faces especially without a reference, but I'll be tentatively aiming to Grow a Character if I decide I'm up to the challenge.

Oooh I really like how you created the silhouettes using negative space for moon. I enjoy playing with positive and negative space. I absolutely love the detail in the hobbit hole. I like the sketchiness of it, but it also has a really great illustrative quality to it as well. I love. And...I was totally expecting some slugs at da club... but such a great job on the wood grain of the bat. Fantastic work as always!

I really like that you didn’t go for full black and instead had the gaps of light peaking through. idk why but this is peak space to me. like. idk how to explain so please just take that comment at face value thank you. ALSO??? How did you draw the crescent moon so well???? It’s one of my favorite shapes ever and yET I can’t get it right. i’m just. i. you always do shapes so well. IT IS SO CRISp. UGH.
hello. hobbit hole. i cannot believe you think this is NOT super meticulous?????????? it looks super meticulous to me!!!!!!!! ur ridiculous for how meticulous. ha. i’ve just been staring at all the sketched out details in this one. I keep zooming in and look at each lil corner and just. i don’t understand. how do you even begin the lines. it’s so. i just. i don’t. feLIX. this is straight out of a book. like. it’s just. i. i’m. i. feLIX!!!!!!!
lOL THE SLUG CLUB GOT ME. i didn’t know what i was expecting, but it was not this and for that, i applaud you. infinitely. that lil slug is so stinkin’ cute, u really hit a home run with this one.

FELIX this is illegal. How are all of these so beautiful?? My favorite is the books because I love books and because the way the lines flow looks very nice. But also shoutout to the hobbit hole. The detail?? Stunning.
oooh, 'slug club' was a very clever idea in my opinion. And oooh that other one reminds me of the man in the moon. Oooh and the hobbit hole thing has such nice depth and it's like I'm walking on the path
And also, oooh your art is so good and moral of the story is I love all of it.

um hi. i don't even want to know how long these sketches / doodles are taking you because the detail and shading involved in them has me completely blown away.

I've already gushed LOUDLY at you about this new set, but here we go with round two
Cooper is SO SOFT at that Theo one and it just encapsulates his personality so well. Even in how the lines are drawn?! I don't know how you drew such a perfect crescent (besides it being YOU and YOU just DO that) but like...I drool
and the hobbit hole looks like something that belongs in the books as like...a chapter heading or something *emo*
AND I LOVE THE LITTLE SLUG SO MUCH

I like the moon one! the idea behind it is really interesting, too. I don't think I would have ever thought to do a piece like that. AND THEN YOUR COMFORT DRAWING. I like that some parts are loose, as you say, but others not so much. It gives it such a distinct feeling....I can't stop admiring and looking at it, honestly. I love it ;__;

when I tell you I sat for a solid five minutes debating about going ahead with it, with the silhouettes and negative space. I really wasn't sure it would pay off and had no idea what to expect cause I couldn't visualise it but I think it worked out. and and and I think the whole illustrative vibe is what I fall into a lot, it's... fun??? fun.
sidenote each time I've seen your phrase 'slugs at da club' i've cracked up. I was very tempted I won't lie, considered slugs crawling all over a disco ball but creeped myself out with the idea. heheh, thank you!

yes it's a lil unnerving so maybe not hyperrealism after all BUT. idk!! realism, I do like dat. and illustrative stuff. I do wish I could do portraiture, and that I had a style, and could do portraits in that style. the dream.
I have another theo prompt I've been chipping away at but it may never see the light of day, it's hideous. but yes yes I like that it gave it like... a starry quality but also almost like motion space-whooshiness (technical term). the moon was a pain, I learned to draw circles without a compass or stencil once but even when i do that I still use something to make sure it lines up properly. the inside curve was a nightmare and the sketchbook nearly went out the window multiple times.
also ur a nerd. and well!!! source: dude just trust me. but why would u zoom, how dare you. AND. once again, nerd. how dare you bring your terrible puns here. but I'm glad I gave u a nice surprise with that one.
thank u. glub u. egg u.

henlo Cooper, bestest bud. okay but also also the thing about the lines fitting his personality... I kind of agree but that was a very happy accident, I had no idea what to expect. also pls. PLS. get ur drool away from the art. you will smudge the ink. you will WARP the PAPER.

A SLUG. WHATS HIS NAME. CAN HE EXIST IN ARIANA'S SLUGIVERSE?
theo's vibe is eternally 'probably frolicking on the moon or something but definitely not here', so even though his daydreams are more complex than that it just seemed like a decent representation. he WAS going to be sitting on the moon but that attempt failed badly and often. so it's back to theo frolicking within a crescent moon lmdfkhjs
but anyway also THANK U. and and and uhhh I did not name the slug yet. he can exist in the MCU if ariana will have him. his name is horace.
day six: _____nonconformist __________milo evans __________luna lovegood #19
SPOILER!!: day 6 - nonconformist
A6 paper, mechanical pencil (0.3), black fineliner (0.03 and 0.05),
fineliner colour pens (0.4)
this was so much nicer before I added colour but them's the breaks I guess
it needed the colour added cause that's sort of the central point
also disclaimer I know there's a sweater prompt I could have done this for
but I'm being a nonconformist and posting it for this prompt instead
(see what I did there)
anyway. pretty straightforward. my character sauron milo is just...
trust me. this is the prompt for him. it's difficult to really put the specifics
into a simple piece so this represents his entire self
I decided to illustrate (ha) the way he
1. always wears stripes
and
2. always wears purple and green
and
3. always wears odd socks
I didn't want to draw socks, so I put the mismatch in the jumper instead.
but, you know, he would absolutely wear this exact item of clothing.
so it's probably something he owns.
and there you have it
crystal clear

I could have sworn I'd already stopped by to gush about ALL the gorgeousness in here...but apparently you left me too awestruck to do so. Definitely my bad, because I really enjoy all your work and thought processes.
I totally get what you mean with the balance of looseness versus detail in the hobbit hole, as it's something I've dealt with in my biro work (my glen piece from last year comes to mind in particular). I appreciate the looseness and movement with which you captured the foliage in contrast with the more structured detail around the door though; it welcomes my eye up the path and I want to go knock on the door.
Meanwhile the moon is a beautiful example in the use of negative space...and the ickle slug is just too cute a detail on the baseball bat (although I maintain rounders is still better). And WOW, the movement and shading in that jumper. Those folds...I just can't. It's stunning. *deaded*

you are far too kind omg ;;
looseness vs detail was way more of a struggle than I anticipated. I definitely get very caught up with the details, even when doing base sketches before I know it I've ended up focusing on the more intricate sections, only to realise it's all in the wrong place cause I never finished figuring out how the entire thing will sit on the page/if the general proportions are right lmhksdj. with the hobbit-hole I kept honing in on details in a similar way once I had the pen in hand but I'm glad it kinda worked out
also also also thank youuuuuu, that really means a lot *-* I'm a little more proud of the jumper one now that I haven't been staring at it for so long. also I'm right there with you on the rounders thing
day seven: _____quidditch __________jake upstead __________ginny weasley #3
SPOILER!!: day 7 - quidditch
Adobe Photoshop 2021
okay so I cannot decide if I like this or not. it's just so... yellow. I do not like yellow.
and I get very impatient with these things and kept pushing ahead to the next part. so it's a bit rough around the edges, the lighting is weird, I keep seeing mistakes, and I totally spaced on putting a shadow in behind him. also turning bright cloth into black cloth has always eluded me so it's grey now instead ok thank u. I didn't make the background either of course, but yk. full disclaimer.
there were a few directions I could have gone for quidditch but it had to be jake
my firstborn first ever RP character. the individual with a direct or indirect hand in so much chaos. now a father and grandfather of many menaces and the department head of magical law enforcement in the ministry of magic. the original upstead problem child.
he played for the hufflepuff quidditch team as a seeker. this would be him about age 13. just ignore the fact that that his hair was actually bright pink that year and he was in the midst of total chaos at school. he's smiling, see. look. happy. don't even worry about it.

well ur pain and nightmare turned into a very nice moon for us so thank u for making that sacrifice :) also ariana will have horace except horace is gonna outshine all the other slugs in the SCU so actually maybe ariana will not have horace. maybe horace should decide.
THE SWEATER OF SAURON. we love to see it. some of my favorite things about this one include the way you got it to be all shruggy with the folds and the dips and the (ok it is at this point where i realized i know no other words to describe what i am seeing but i hope you understand what i’m trying to say anyway thank you for your time). how jarring these two colors are next to each other but particularly this shade of purple and this shade of green that you chose. how WEARABLE it looks!!! anyway. i’d like ten of them. i would wear.

the original upstead problem. i’m obsessed. anyway. i like yellow and i very much love this. i can never wrap my head around how one does manips, so this is an enigma to me in the best way possible. it’s so HD FELIX. and you did the around the hair bit so well. this is literally better than the official hp promo photos.
Ugh, Felix!!!!! Your artwork is just so beautiful, I can't even!!
I love the style of the moon. Making the negative space the picture and filling out the rest of the page is just ... *chefs kiss* It's beautiful.
I love every single thing about the hobbit hole!!! It just makes me want to pack my bags and move right into Bag End. You can feel the charm and warmth from your sketch! I can picture that long table and warm fire within. It's just beautiful!
Look at the detail on your bat! I'm tickled you also did like a double whammy for this prompt by doing the play on words for slugger and still adding the actual slug, who is such a cute little addition.
The colors you chose for non-comforist too. such a good color combo imo. It's so BRIGHT and they're two colors I associate with the spooky season. I'd like to order 10 of these sweaters, please.
So I remember getting to stalk Jake some and I really like the way this manip came out!! It's also such a fun blast from the past! Hufflepuff is always hard because of the bright YELLOW but I think you did wonderfully here!
Made of Awesome | Ern-la the Best-wa | TZ's Apogee
That sweater is beautiful. I think drawing cloth is SO hard, especially around a body so it has form but also... drape? Or whatever I mean, you get it. The colors are bRIGHT BRIGHT, but I think they add to the drawing.
I like the manip too, even if you're being HARD ON YOURSELF over it. I can't do the ones where you put a head on the body because the lighting and THE NECK never look right, so this is extra impressive.
ThunderPUFF | Whoodley | MRD&LKD | Graphics Queen | Tristalen | Mrs. A | Hunny Bun

That Hobbit-hole... omg so good! They are all beautiful and so well done. But that Hobbit-hole I love the slug club as well. Perfect! That manip/graphic! AHH! YOU ARE SO TALENTED!

Mitsuki is SO relieved you did not go with the mismatched socks because it would make her eye twitch something terribly. She can deal with this kind of sweater, even appreciate it #newbestfriends
I am once again obsessed with your line art with this one and especially with how you used the lines on it (like the thicker design lines on the sweater itself) to give a sense of depth and perspective. How you get these lines to be so straight, consistent, and balanced I will never know
And that is SUCH a good quidditch manip congratulations on your layer masks really great work cannot wait to see more of these sprinkled throughout your thread!

horace is a libra, he can't make decisions
I understood, I get u, I have the same issue, and they were a PAIN to draw and I look at the reference image and sort of wither every time because there's a lot of erasing and redrawing involved, but it's so satisfying when it starts to come together. also how am I not surprised you would wear this. honestly I would too but not the point.
how am i also not surprised you love yellow, other than because i already knew this. ALSO LISTEN. his old FC is from the days of yore practically and almost every photo was such terrible quality and so difficult to combine with the v HD robes, and I'm not very good at like... adjusting quality and lighting so that things match, and just have to pick photos that work together if possible. so I lucked out with that one. anyway pSH THANKS. EGG.

omg such spirited kind words thank you so much, I'm glad you enjoyed these! and I'll put u down for ten of the sweaters and I'll have my people call your people when they're ready for collection
but yes the yellow. it hurt my eyes to look at both because bright and because do not like, and getting the gryffindor robes to a hufflepuff-worthy shade was a real pain for some reason, cause they kept tipping over into lime green. and I've NEVER managed to get the black cloth right. anyway anYWAY aNyWaY thank you!

it really is, I veered away from it for years. still can't do it if I'm drawing my own figures without an exact reference cause I cannot work out how it's supposed to lie and fold etc. YES BRIGHT. it's the vibe.
LiSteN it's not one of my better ones and it's the neck I twitch at here too but but but IF YOU SAY SO I guess I'll trust u. thank u. head-on-body manips are the only kinds I feel very confident with, I really struggle at just putting two people together even though that sounds like it should be easier??? just let her know he's always wearing odd socks even when they're not on show (but they're usually on show). I'm sure milo has plenty more tricks up his sleeve to set off the twitching. stay tuned.
omg pls. honestly just a long long long time on the pencil sketch, and also on the pen, but I spend so long trying to get the lines right in pencil, it's a little ridiculous. especially when I go in and ruin it with the first pen stroke anyway.
THANK YOU! also. you continue to be the worst for hiding layer masks from me for so long. the nerve.
day eight: _____spectrespecs __________noah fence __________luna lovegood #3
SPOILER!!: day 8 - spectrespecs
A6 paper, mechanical pencil (0.3), black fineliner (0.3, 0.1, and 0.03)
I realise this probably does not look as bad as I think it does but it has
given me grief for DAYS and I never want to look at it again. the shapes
were infuriatingly difficult to draw, those circles vexed me, the sketchbook
nearly ended up being launched out of the window multiple times. I restarted
it about four times. immediately messed up while inking it and the shading
went to pieces and I had no idea what I was doing and anyway. so much of it
went wrong. but I stubbornly stuck with it. for the sake of the gag.
*clears throat*
noah fence is obsessed with phantom of the opera
at the opera, or at the theatre, you can get opera glasses
and if you see the phantom, or watch the phantom of the opera
through opera glasses
in a way that makes them
spectrespecs
sigh.

A6 paper, mechanical pencil (0.3), black fineliner (0.1, and 0.03)
this one gave me issues too but not as severely as day eight. I did want to
make the entire background black but decided not to push my luck today,
as I'd already made a few mistakes that I may or may not have salvaged.
also yes that is another phantom reference what of it!!!
what a surprise, nem is not allowing a proper explanation
but you might be able to work it out bUt anyway iykyk

I'm actually mad about how nice those spectrespecs are. They're perfect. Flawless. Beautiful. I thought I could stay away from commenting here but I couldn't. I was too impressed. They're fantastic.
Also a big fan of the slug club and hobbit hole ones.

first of all, i’m not surprised you would wear it too. secondly i am not surprised that horace is a libra and. thirdly how very dare you!!!!! these spectrespecs!!!! I’M- ugh. they’re so beautiful felix. i can’t believe (read: i can very much believe) how hard you’re being on yourself because these are literally so beautiful. I don’t understand how you do it. my brain cannot comprehend. the intricate lines and the incredible amount of detail. it’s so crisp and three demential and the sHADING. maybe you never want to look at it again, but i want to look at it forever so. maybe we even it out.
i didn’t know what to expect when i opened the gryffindor spoiler but man oh man i was not disappointed. LOOK AT THEM IN ALL THEIR GLORY. It’s hard to choose favorites but i’m going to anyway because i’M NOT A LIBRA! The Abra sig makes me feel some big type of way, and I love how clean it is and the font you used for his name and the color of the text next to the shirt he’s wearing *__* ugh. why is he grown though. i dont appreciate the grown part. I am also obsesssssed with the typography (?) (font choice?) (words spacing?) of the Art one. I love how the colors work together on it. Also i love the fonts for this first spencer one with the overlapping o’s and tHE LEO ONE IS SO CRISP AND COLORFUL AND actually. i’m kind of mad at you because i said i would chose favorites and now i have 6 favorites.
;__;
a) not surprised that you hurt your own feelings with day 10. but. also. you hurt my feelings too and i’m really upset with you. bring nem back we miss nem.
ugh. i'm so mad at you right now dont even look @ me

first of all...those opera glasses are amazing and I love your thought process on how they are indeed spectraspecs! Love Phantom! Got to see it on Broadway when I was in high school and it was amazing and I have been obsessed ever since.
Those graphics are lovely and you should show off your gryff's
That Phantom mask is awesome! You are just amazing my love

The curves in the cross-hatching for the shading of those opera glasses, Felix. So good. I love the play on words too.
The signatures are so pretty. I'm a big fan of the colouring, but most of all the font choices...especially that first Spencer one. It looks so balanced.
...and that mask. So iconic. I know it's deceptive in its simplicity, needing enough shading but not too much. The arch of the brow bone is lovely in its use of negative space. And weirdly, for all the shows I've seen in the West End, the Phantom isn't one of them.
