It’s a bright but chilly autumnal morning outside - not that you would know that in the Potions classroom, given the lack of windows. Professor Noble had done a decent job of lightening things up though; the classroom is certainly brighter than the corridor outside, due to a number of glowing orbs suspended from the ceiling. Dark rooms were not conducive to accurate brewing, and he’d responded accordingly. Of course, it didn’t hurt that it might help the nightowls stay awake at this hour too.
On entering the classroom, you’ll see the desks in rows facing forwards, a pretty typical layout. At each workstation a small burner, currently off, and tripod awaits your cauldron. Your copper one, if you’d bothered to read your schedule. The far side bench gives a hint at the topic of the lesson, piled high with pumpkins, so generously grown by Professor Myers at Noble’s request.
The Potions professor himself cuts a stern figure at the front of class, leant back commandingly against the front desk, robes flowing and arms folded across his chest. His gaze rests on the door, a dissatisfied air about his lips.
“Chop chop! Stop lingering in the doorway like a lost flobberworm and pick up a pumpkin on the way to your seat.”

Potions. One of the five classes that Hattie was taking for her NEWTs. It was one of her best subjects, and she was excited about it. She'd worked hard at the subject, mostly due to the fact that she had to brew her one medical potions now. So she was excited to see how the year would go. She didn't need to worry about exams this year, so she was excited to see what they were going to be doing this term. The blonde smiled as she headed to the potions classroom. The Professor was new this year, so she was also excited to see how things went with having a new professor.
"Hi Professor" The blonde smiled as she headed in. she picked up a pumpkin, before finding herself a seat. Now. What fun would be had in this lesson.

Sylvie had been one of the first people to arrive. She HAD. She'd just... arrived with her pewter cauldron, all bright eyed and actually sort of okay with it being potions (she was usually rather terrible at potions), really in great spirits. She had settled in and even went to grab a pumpkin and everything before she'd noticed that everyone else had a copper cauldron, everyone, and it had tickled her memory. She'd needed... a different cauldron. STINKIN' SEWERS. U G H.
The mad dash from the dungeons alllll the way to the Gryffindor tower and alllll the way back down to the dungeons even with the use of her two favourite shortcuts had resulted in one very moody, very disheveled looking Sylvanas Norcott.
STUPID COPPER CAULDRONS.
Shrugging off her robes and loosening her tie, Sylvie unceremoniously dumped the dumb gleaming cauldron onto the worktable and debated whether to rebel and not take a pumpkin for the second time. SEVEN FLOORS. This castle had s e v e n floors. That's a lot of floors okay?? Turning to Théo, her forever partner and best friend and honestly a sight for sore eyes, she pouted and finally got her breathing under control. "I brought the wrong cauldron." UGH.
Was she supposed to say hi to the professor? Because she really wasn't in the mood. Sorry Professor Newbie. No greeting for you today because of your stupid copper cauldron rule. He should be grateful she went to get her pumpkin, which she did as soon as she waved hello to fellow fourth years and generally calmed down.
Time to get this class over with.

Emmalyn had made it to the Potions classroom without getting lost. Yes, she had followed several other students the entire way, but she knew that even by doing that, it wasn't a for sure that she would end up in the right place.
She grabbed the first pumpkin she saw and quickly sat down at her station, being extra careful to not upset the burner or her cauldron. After getting settled in, she glanced up to get a good look at the professor. 'This does not look good' she groaned in her head. The professor looked rather grumpy, almost scary. She was immediately thankful he was not her Head of House.
"Umm, good day, sir." She squeaked out just above a whisper.

Yeah, he was definitely cutting it close on this one. His watch told him that there was one minute before class started. Next time, Finn, don't forget your cauldron in the common room, eh? Or at least remember closer than the Great Hall. Either way. So, breathing heavily from his haste and all the stairs, he arrived at the potions classroom with little time to spare.
"Morning, professor," he said through his rush. Nope, he didn't even remember the new teacher's name. "I promise I'm not usually cutting it this close." He took one of the open seats in the back, not even caring who it may be next to. With a thud, his cauldron and bookbag both went onto the table. And, noticing everyone else had a pumpkin, he retrieved one of those as well.
With a few deep breaths, and some calming 'You can do this' repetitions (mentally, of course - she wasn't about to start talking aloud to herself), Felicity found herself outside of the Potions classroom. She'd scraped an E on her OWL, and might have cried with happiness if she hadn't been so preoccupied with other marks, but even so she was nervous about her NEWT year. Especially since she was constantly doubting her own abilities. With a small "Morning, 'Fessor," in greeting as she entered the classroom, her eyes immediately lit upon a seat in the back row.
And that was where she sat. After picking up a medium-sized pumpkin, of course.

Scarlett had never been a HUGE fan of potions, but she had vowed to give EVERY subject her best shot this year in preparation for NEWTs. Plus, the new professor just...kind of scared her. He seemed like he was cranky all the time. Scarlett didn't understand how people could just be that angry all the time, but the professor definitely gave her that vibe. Didn't matter - she was going to be her usual chipper self regardless!
She'd been sure to bring her copper cauldron, as instructed. She walked in and smiled happily at the grumpy man. "Hello Professor!" she piped up as she took one of the pumpkins. Interesting. What would they be up to today?

Hanna was mostly excited as she made her way to Potions. Her uniform, slightly too big (apparently she'd grow into it), was crisp and clean, with shiny polished shoes. It was... with anxiety that she approached the lesson, though. For she only had a pewter cauldron. Was she going to be given detention? Sent to the Headmistress? Sent a howler?!
As she walked through the door, she squeaked out a shy little "Hi Professor," before gathering a pumpkin and setting up at a free space.

Rylee was super ready for this lesson. She had the strap to her bag slung over her shoulder and everything inside it was perfectly cleaned and ready to be used. Her uniform was exactly how it should be, clean and nicely fitted (mummy had to do so adjustments for her). The only thing that may have stood out was the purple ribbon that had been used to tie her hair back from her face into a side braid. That being the day's use of the color purple.
"Good morning, Professor!," she chirped cheerfully not at all fazed by the older man's instructions of 'not to linger in the doorway' and such. This girl was NOT lingering in any way, shape of form. Nope. No lingering from her.
Finding an empty workstation somewhere near the front wasn't to easily done since the room seemed to be rather full, so she settled for the first available spot she saw. Setting her bag down on the floor by the chair and her cauldron down onto the tripod she hurried on over to get a pumpkin and bring it back to her work place. She hadn't wanted to risk dropping the pumpkin by going to get first.
Setting the pumpkin down on the table, Rylee than went about taking out a parchment and her quill and ink (purple) while waiting for Professor Noble to explain what they would be brewing today.

Derf, yes, we see you. Junia was a bit confused by the sheepish smile he was wearing, but she supposed it had something to do with the whole feast fiasco. She had yet to speak to Abey about it, mostly because she didn't want to hurt him more by bringing it up. Still, she figured he'd be thinking a lot about that particular moment lately and it was yet another reason she wanted her cousin to show up so she could protect him, as Junias were meant to do.
"Sam, hi." No matter how crowded a classroom was, Junia was always able to spot Samuel. She was somewhat worried him being so close would be a distraction to her, but she'd rather deal with that, than know he was ALL the way across the room. That was too far for her liking.
And then there was Abey. Abra. Cousin person. He looked nervous already, did he know? So nervous he'd forgotten to grab a pumpkin for himself. No matter, Junia was on it. She leaned in to whisper a quiet, "Hi," before sliding the pumpkin she'd selected for herself over to him and covertly getting up to grab herself another one.
She'd noticed the cauldron mix-up, but that was unfortunately out of her hands for the moment. She just hoped the potions professor would be merciful.

Jessi was excited for Potions class, but a little nervous too. She wondered what they would be doing today, but honestly could not take a guess. When she reached the classroom, she entered with a big smile. “Hello Professor”, she said, overflowing with enthusiasm.
Wait, was she late? It seemed as if the entire school was already in class. It took a while for a little person to make it from the Gryffindor Common Room to the dungeons. Anyway, she was hear now and ready to learn more about potions. Following the instructions, Jessi got a pumpkin and made her way to an empty seat. She sat down and got her supplies ready, as class would surely be starting soon.

Miranda made her way into the potions classroom for the first of the year.. YAY!.. Another horrendous term in the dungeons.. Where the sixth year badger did her best to brew and always came up with a mediocre product by class' end..
" Good morning, Sir.. Hope you manage to teach me something the other potions' master couldn't.. though, know I always do try my best.. Though I'm afraid my brews always end up lacking.. ", she said as she greeted the obviously unamused professor before her...
OH!.. She was a lingerer.. Oops!

It was Potions time, Kirk was in a fairly content mood by the time he reached the dungeons. Long walks, seemingly darkened areas had a calming effect on the sixteen-year-old though it was brighter than usual today.
Anyways, Kirk caught Professor Noble's eyes as he entered in, "Hello, Professor." Quite stern, but that didn't phase him, he was use to the motions as he grabbed a pumpkin before going to choose a cauldron. Hm.. He could save a spot for Mel until she makes it in, a slight grin emerging from the idea. Anyone else who caught the Captain's eyes, he gave you a sup nod on the way towards the back.

The BEST thing about living in the towers was that YOU LIVED IN A TOWER but also that you were close to classes like astronomy and divination and transfiguration and ancient runes and Emma didn't actually TAKE all of those classes but it was actually nice just to be NEAR them and IN A TOWER. The not-so-cool thing about them was that you were SO FAR AWAY from all the other classes she had to take, the FURTHEST walk being to potions. Even when she ran FULL SPEED - which she did all the time - you still had a super long way to go and it made Em tired every single time she had to do it.
Okay, so she just had done it this ONE time since this was the first class BUT STILL IT WAS A LOT. Her little legs could only carry her so far for so long. It was a good thing the kitchens were nearby or she would have to take a BIGGER detour to get her some juice for refueling purposes.
Only after she did all of that did she FINALLY make it to class on time. "Hiya, professor!" What was his name again? Emma had to THINK on that, but she never did get around to actually calling him by said name when she remembered it for all the waving to her friends she did, and picking out her seat somewhere in the middle. She pulled her satchel off her shoulders and put on her READY face for the lesson.

June wasn't sure what to think of the potions master yet, but she loved potions so it didn't really affect her enjoyment of the class. She jumped a little when the professor spoke and she entered the classroom and, though laden with her potions equipment and cauldron (yes, a copper one), she still managed to pick up a pumpkin where the professor had pointed them to.
She sat her pumpkin down first at a desk near the front and set her cauldron in the tripod on the desk and started laying out her supplies. You enver knew what you'd need in potions class.
If 'mentally dishevelled' was a real thing, that pretty much summed up Abra right about now. Nevertheless, once he was sat at a workstation - next to Junia, no less - and blending in with the rest of the class, he was able to relax just a little bit. At least more than when he'd sort of hesitated right at the moment that he was stood there right in front of everyone where all of their EYES could SEE him. With their EYES.
But yes. Junia. Abra found it easy to smile at her and also to whisper a greeting back.
"Hi. Oh..." The 'oh' part was concerning the pumpkin, because with Junia sliding hers across to him, he suddenly remembered what he had forgotten. Once she was back, he gave her a look of sincere gratitude. "Thank you, Junebug."
And then he shut up, because there were certain teachers from whom he got the impression that even just a little bit of talking would not be met well, and Professor Noble was one of those.
Except that not talking meant more time for looking, and also for noticing. And when he looked, and noticed, he saw and realised something had happened which made him stand out from the others. Something that he had done, or, it seemed, had failed to do. He wasn't the only one, but he was definitely in the minority, and so the moment Abra realised that almost everyone else had a copper cauldron with him, but that it was his pewter one that he had set on his desk, his eyes widened in pure, unadulterated horror. He'd missed an announcement, had been overlooked in an important memo, was oblivious to a widely known Potions-related rumour, or perhaps had just not read the lesson requirements properly. The result was the same nonetheless; he had turned up to Potions class unprepared.
Abra's life flashed before his eyes.
The end was nigh.

Ronan actually had a VERY good reason for lingering in the doorway, thank you very much, Professor Noble. The sight of pumpkins had given him pause. Hopefully, they wouldn't be using the damnable things in a potion, because there would be a big problem.
Finally deciding to just skip the pumpkin step, Ronan took a random seat somewhere with a "I'm allergic to pumpkins, Professor Noble," as an explanation. Seriously, it was in his file. Didn't professors read those anymore? Also, what kind of potion required a whole pumpkin anyway? Sigh. Maybe he should've followed his instincts and just skipped this class. It wasn't as if he was going to need it in his future career anyway.
And yes, he did have his copper cauldron, thank you very much again.

Yeah, Night had seen professors like Noble before. Obviously not in the wizard world, but her fifth grade math teacher...a nightmare. Then again, not all strict teachers were bad.
For her part, Night had made sure not to oversleep. Not on the first day. And she had even gone to bed early that night. Well, not early per se, but before midnight. Yep, she was a night owl, and that was exactly why she got her name.
She'd followed some stragglers down the stairs and made her way to the potions classroom. Why was she the only student with three cauldrons? Well, maybe others had more, but back in their dormitories?
Scanning the room, she noticed Emmalyn sitting alone and went to join her fellow first year. "Hey, Emmalyn. You look nervous." It was too early in the morning to try and talk to anyone new, and besides, most people already had their friends.
She placed her copper cauldron on the desk (and her pewter and bronze ones below) and grabbed a small, round pumpkin off the main table.

The gloomy corridor was a big no no for her. She'd figured the dungeons to be dark but not so depressing. She wondered if her first lesson at Hogwarts would be in vain with the lack of light and life. She was bound to just sleeeeeep.
But the Potions classroom was not what she had expected it to be. The Professor had just jazzed up the tone of the room to something above acceptable. This she could live with! Now that's a thoughtful man.
As she walked in, she looked at the Professor looming at the front of the class. "Good morning, Professor Noble" That's what the Headmistress had introduced him by at the feast. "Nice and shiny orbs you've got there!" She took a second to admire them, "Livens the whole place" It did. And with that Amara walked into the class, searching for a familiar face among the already present.

Maddie hadn't been the first person to waltz into class.
She hadn't been the last person either.
She had PURPOSELY lingered in the corridor and made SURE she was right smack in the middle of the crowd. Well, truthfully, she had no idea how many people would trickle in after her, but she was pretty sure she had met her goal.
The professor was scary. Not just stern and strict, but SCARRRRRRRY SCARY. The most intense type of scary a professor can be. In Maddie's eyes, he lingered like a dementor watching over the class as they filed into his classroom. She mentally reviewed all his rules and double-checked her uniform to make sure it was in tip top shape. IT WAS. She tried to walk into the room as proper as she could, but she was so frightened that she ended up resembling a stiff piece of plywood making its way to a desk.
Hearing one of the older kids greet the man, Maddie decided to do the same. "Hello, Professor Noble," she said, with a hint of shakiness in her tone. She selected a cute little pumpkin then took a seat.

She couldn't....begin....to describe...the level of hurt at having to end the potion and vanish the contents. The young girl may have chanced it by simply bringing another (a silver one) but Professor Noble seemed the sort to take notice. It was odd, y'know? The brew would simply have to be restarted once she was out of this class.
Jessa entered the room, cauldron floating in behind her, nose buried deep inside her latest read. Skin texture; duplicating it. The pros and cons of varying textures, the best methods of harvesting and re-creating. It wasn't until the man opened his mouth to warn them against time wasting that the Ravenclaw even noticed him standing there by the door. Blue eyes glanced up at him only briefly before setting down to her book again. "Good morning, Professor." She muttered, distractedly flipping the page to continue. What was that about a pumpkin and a flobberworm now?
A cauldron could've exploded and she wouldn't notice (not entirely true, something like THAT would grab her attention, but for the most part, the Ravenclaw was oblivious to everything going on around her at the moment).
Thankfully, she DID catch the sight of the pumpkins from the corner of her eyes, levitating one over and into her already levitating cauldron. In all this, she didn't glance up from the pages of the old and dusty book for more than a few seconds at a time, not even when she flopped into the seat by Cameron. "Hey Cam." She muttered, ending the incantation of the floating items once they were set atop the desk.
Rat skin would be a no. Shame too, plenty of that around.
"Morning Cam!" Nice one too, wasn't it? She was getting her own area all set up too, and making herself comfortable, her trousered legs swinging somewhat as the stool wasn't exactly short. Correct uniform of course, it was just that she always opted for trousers rather than the skirt that was common with her female peers.
And then the new Ravenclaw prefect sat on Cam's other side so she leaned forward to look around him and greet her too, watching with interest as her levitating items settled on the desktop.
"Hi! I know your name is Jessa right? I'm Bel." There. They knew each other now.

Now that Juni was settled into her workstation. As the others arrived, she sat quietly. This was always to her one of the most boring parts of lessons. Waiting for them to start. Waving at Derf as he came in and looked for a seat. Clearly the Ravenclaw was ridiculously impatient. Picking up her pumpkin to get a better look at it. She didn’t really take the time to look over them and pick one. It wasn’t like Professor Noble said choose the pumpkin you like the most or something.
Did miss Skylar like her pumpkin pie idea? She waved at her too. Then she seen Zita walk in. In full Zita fashion. She couldn’t help but to grin. ” Hey Zita.” Her grin widened more when she sat next to her. She must’ve miss Slate’s arrival, though he had found the seat on the other side of her. She nudged jim with her elbow and grinned at him too. Was the lesson going to start soon? She hated all of this waiting but at least she was in good company during the wait.

Patrick walked into the potions room, afraid he was running late. Somehow he had gotten caught up in a book down in the common room. He hated being late. Skirting through the door he looked around. Potions sure was full this time. He wasn't sure how well he was going to like this full classroom. He hadn't done bad last term, but it was a new term and a new professor.
He looked around the room spotting a seat toward the back, both seats were empty which meant that he was going to have to figure it out on his own he assumed. Thankfully he had remembered to have his copper cauldron today. That could have been a lot worse. He was hoping that someone would at least sit beside him so he would have a friend or something.
"Hi Professor." He said quietly hoping to not draw too much attention to himself as he sat down awaiting the lessons start. He was watching everyone in the classroom trying to figure out the dynamic of the term.
