Arranged in its usual state, the door to the Potions Classroom was once again open for the day's lesson. On top of each workstation are your typical Potions materials and tools ready to be used.
Up ahead, Healer Reed can be seen leaning against the blackboard, hands stuffed into his trousers' pockets waiting for his students to arrive. Roscoe and Bumi can be seen lounging on the side, proudly wearing their Red Cross badges around their necks.
No time to dilly-dally! Come in and let's start brewing!
OOC: HELLO HELLO!!! We'll begin in approximately 24 hours after this post. Remember that this isn't your first potions class for the term. Class is in session!

So.... the liquid antimony would be added in the last step? Okay.
The time was ticking so fast and she still needed to do several more steps to finish the potion. Okay, now onto the next step with the tree bark. Ava laid five strips of Wiggentree bark on the surface of the mixture, slowly and carefully she pushed it one by one to the inner of her cauldron. Then she set the flame back into medium and.... wait again until the potion boiled. This was probably the only potion that require so many waiting times, by the way. But at least for now she didn't need to wait for too long until the solution boiled.
Once the bubbles had appeared, the Gryffindor then crushed the betony leaves with her hand and added them to the cauldron. The color of the potion then turned into a sapphire blue which.... that's what it supposed to be, right? Thankfully. And now she waited again for five minutes and then she turned off the flame. Was she done? Not yet, because it took 15 minutes to cool the potion down.
Fifteen minutes had passed and with a clean dropper, Ava pour the potion into the clean glass phials and labeled it with her name+house. And finally, she's reaching the final step now. She scrapped off the dreg at the bottom of her brass cauldron, packed it into the tin box and then she cast the charm to nullify the poison by drawing an Asclepius staff mark with her wand. "Venenum inverto." And just like what the Professor had spoken, she added the liquid antimony to the phial. DONE! Now Ava just needed to be dismissed and then took a break because boy, this was such a long class.

Taking a few deep breaths the Blaze fire calmed to his normal unamused look he always had. His eyes turned back to the table and he continued on with his potion.
SPOILER!!: notes
Procedure: Clean all equipment to be used: Cauldron, Scales, Stirrers, Phials, Etc.; Bring 50 ml Distilled Water to a boil in medium heat;
Add finely chopped 32 grams of Stargrass. Use a silver dagger for this step;
Add 302 ml Boom Berry Juice and stir counter-clockwise for three minutes pause 5 seconds, and continue to stir the solution counter-clockwise for another two minutes. Use a glass stirrer for this step;
Remove the stirrer from the cauldron, and add 23 drops of Essence of Dittany into the solution;
Let 3 minutes pass, and then adjust the heat to low. Slowly add 5 fire seeds into the solution after 2 minutes. Use your dragon-hide gloves for this procedure;
Add 15 pieces of pure rock salt one by one, and stir the solution counter-clockwise for five minutes until the solution turns primrose yellow. This will indicate that the solution has been activated to counter the effect of poisoning;
Lay 5 strips of Wiggentree bark on the surface of the solution, and slowly push it one by one to the inner wall of your cauldron. Turn the heat back to medium and wait for the potion to boil;
Once bubbles appear, crush 5 fresh Betony Leaves with your hand, and add it to the boiling liquid. The potion should turn a shade of Sapphire Blue;
Wait five minutes, and then turn off the heat. Let the potion cool for 15 minutes, and then bottle it in glass vials using a clean Pasteur Pipette (dropper). Label your potions;
Scrape off the dreg at the bottom of the cauldron, and pack it in a tin box. Draw the Asclepius Staff with your wand, while saying the incantation: Venenum Inverto (nullify the poison).
Placing the five strips of Wiggentree bark onto the surface of the solution he slowly pushed it to the inner way. Moving his wand he raised the heat in his cauldron and watched as it started to boil once again. As it started to boil he grabbed fresh Betony leaves and crushed them before letting them fall to his cauldron. Once they were in he saw the blue coming into the potion.
Watching the time he let it sit for five minutes and then moved his wand to turn the heat off. What was he to do for fifteen minutes, oh that's right find who wrote on his face. He scanned the area and saw one of his dormmates, "Did you see who did this Cameron?" It had better not been him because he would easily slip something into his shoes while he slept. He didn't think his doormmates would do it though so his eyes moved around again.
Once the fifteen minutes were up though his focus went back to the cauldron in front of him. He poured the potion into the vial and labeled it. Then he scrapped the bottom of the cauldron and stuck it in a tin, "Venenum Inverto" Once he was fully finished he took the Antimony and placed the correct amount in.
Now that he was done, could he go?
No he couldn't leave a mess, so while he waited for the proper dismissal he cleaned up his work area. No traces of him being there and no evidence left behind, number one rule in the Blaze family.
The timer went off, and Sam adjusted the heat down before resetting the timer for two minutes. She pulled on her shiny clean gloves, and waited for it to go off again, before adding the 5 fire seeds one at a time. Reasonably slowly...she didn't throw them in at least. Next came the 15 pieces of rock salt. She'd tried to choose uniformly sized pieces, because it seemed the right thing to do, and gently dropped them in.
And more stirring. This potion was certainly a workout.
The potion turned yellow, and Sam smiled. That was definitely a reassuring sign, even if she still had several steps to go.
The next of which was adding the Wiggentree bark. She gently laid it on the surface of the liquid, before sliding it gently across to the side of the cauldron one piece at a time. The heat was turned back up, and she perched on her stool whilst she waited for the bubbles to reappear at the surface to indicate it was back at to boiling. She crushed the betony leaves in her hand, and dropped those in too, waiting for the liquid to change colour.
It took a while to go, the yellow first going a murky brown....followed by an equally murky green. Sam sighed, annoyed at herself for screwing it up.
Sapphire blue it was not.
Except, it didn't stop changing at the green. It kept going, the yellow tone disappearing, and gradually turning blue. Phew. She was nearly there, and whilst it might not be as potent as she hoped, it was close to being right.
She cleaned up in the five minutes it took to cool, putting her ingredients away and cleaning her tools. She then took a pipette and bottled the liquid in her already prepared vials. The alimony was added to the top, and she sealed it carefully.
And the dregs, the gunk at the bottom of her cauldron. That was added to her box. Picking up her wand, she drew the staff of healing, and said the incantation. "Venenum Inverto."
Done? She sure hoped so. It'd been a loooong lesson.

Next step, Scarlett measured out 302 mL (what an oddly specific number...) of Bloom Berry Juice and added it to her cauldron. Then, taking her stirrer, she plopped it in and began to stir counter clockwise as instructed. She looked up at the clock on the wall, waiting for three minutes on the dot to go by. Then, she paused for five seconds. Once the five seconds were up, she resumed her stirring in the same direction, repeating it for another two minutes. OH WAIT, had she used the GLASS STIRRER?! She paused and looked down. Ok, PHEW. She had. Close call.
She took the stirrer out of her cauldron and took the bottle of Essence of Dittany and a dropper. Using the dropper she added one, two...a total of 23 drops into her potion. Now to let it sit some more...
Three minutes. Done. She took her wand and pointed it at the flame, adjusting to so that it was at a low heat instead of a medium heat. She then took her dragonhide gloves and slipped them on so she could safely handle her fireseeds. After two minutes of sitting there, waiting for the time to pass with her gloves on, it was safe for her to proceed. She took each one in her hand carefully before dropping it in slowly until all five had been added.

The lovely yellow primrose (canary) potion began to bubble, finally, and Katy crumbled the five betony leaves between her gloved fingers. They were too fresh to really crumble, so she was mostly just muddling them in her hands before dropping the leafy bits into the cauldron. Almost immediately, the yellow potion went brilliant blue. Sapphire? Certainly brighter than cobalt but not quite baby blue.
Aaaaaand another five minutes. It felt like she couldn't possibly have time left in class for all these rests, but the key to a good potion was patience, so Katy began the count-off as she removed her gloves and began cleaning up her used potion supplies. After five minutes, Katy removed the heat and returned to her cleaning. The stirring stick, the cutting surface, and the silver dagger were cleaned and put away, as were the empty phials and dishes that held her other ingredients. Multi-tasking for the win.
After fifteen minutes, Katy droppered her potion into glass phials. Liquid into phials, dregs into a tin. Katy found the dregs so fascinating. If it was possible, she wanted to keep some of both the liquid and the dregs so she could experiment. On herself, of course. With her wand, she drew the staff and muttered the incantation, "Venenum Inverto." Each individual phial and tin had the same incantation muttered over it.

Pure rock salt. It was really pretty to look at, and a shame that Scarlett had to finally ADD it to her cauldron. Still, it had to be done - so she took it carefully in her hands (still with her gloves on, because why not) and slowly added each one, one by one, until all fifteen had been added to her potion. Now she had to stir it counter clockwise again. She took off her gloves and took the stirrer in her hand, plopping it in her potion, and beginning to stir once again. Five minutes of this...her arm was gonna hurtttt after this...
Once five LONGGG minutes had passed (she hated waiting, she was so impatient!) she finally had a YELLOW potion. Yes! That was what was SUPPOSED to happen! WOOOO! Although...was it primrose? She had no clue. She didn't know what that was. So she hoped for the best and continued forward.
She took the Wiggentree bark and slowly laid all five pieces on top of the potion, taking care not to touch it with her fingers, which took a bit longer than she had anticipated. Then, she took the stirrer and slowly pushed each one to the sides of the cauldron. Why that mattered, she didn't know...but she wasn't here to question things. She took her wand and pointed at the cauldron, waiting for the water to boil on the medium heat. While waiting, she got a bit noisy and looked around at the other potions in the area....they all kind of looked similar to hers? So hopefully she was doing well.
It was now boiling, so she picked up the five betony leaves and held them over her potion, crushing the brittle leaves in her hands and sprinkling the bits into the potion. WHOOOOSH! Just like that, the yellow potion had turned blue. She waited another five minutes before taking her wand and waving it over the flame, extinguishing it. Then she leaned back in her seat and looked over her notes while she waited for it to cool for fifteen minutes. Once that had lapsed (which again felt like foreverrrr) she took her potion and began to put it into her vials using the pipette. Once it had all been divvied up into her vials and her vials had all been labeled, she scrapped the dreg (ewwww gross) out of the cauldron and put it in a tin box with a label on it as well.
She had to stop really quickly to consult her notes on what the Asclepius Staff looked like, but then took her wand out and waved it over the tin in the desired shape. "Venenum Inverto!" she muttered as she waved her wand over it, hoping that was successful.
Wow. Somehow, she'd managed to catch up with everyone!

Antimony, Zoryn could do that. Taking some of the liquid antimony, Zoryn quickly added it to her bottled potion before cleaning up her workstation. They were done, yes?
How come her potion never turned blue though!?!?! These were the MOST important questions Zor had for their Professor. Maybe her spinach wasn't fresh enough? But anyways, she digressed. It was time to leave and Zoryn wasn't about to stay AFTER CLASS to ask questions. Nah, who'd you think she was... A Ravenclaw?!?! NO WAY!!!!
Yeah okay, #byefelicia.

She listened curiously to Ava's question and Professor Reed's response. Ah.... So the antimony needed to be added to the phials after the potion was complete? She'll do that now. She took the phials that she had just sealed and then added the liquid antimony careful not to spill it on herself or anyone near her. Once that was done, she sealed the phials and began cleaning everything up.
While she cleaned, she glanced over to Tenacius who seemed to be finishing up his potion as well. Vi shared a small smile with him. Alright. Potion was done, labelled, and with the antimony inside of it.

Aaaand five minutes is done. He kills the heat and allows it to cool, fifteen minutes the instructions says. It was then that the Professor informed everybody about the antimony, oh good so it goes in at the very end.
Fifteen minutes pass and the leonine lad starts pipping in the potion into the vials. He adds in the antimony then seals the vial, sticking the label with his name on it.
Now for the dregs. He tipped his cauldron over and collected them into the tin, sealing that up and then drawing the Asclepius Staff symbol over it as the spell Venenum Inverto echoed in his head. Label is affixed and.... was he done? He was done! Lets hope its as good as it looked.

Potion: Antidote to Uncommon Poisons No. 005 (Hospital Grade)
Effect(s): This healing potion cures the effects brought about uncommon poisons. This formula has been altered to have a stronger effect, covering a wider range of poisons known to wizard-kind.
Ingredients:
50 ml Distilled Water
14 ml Liquefied Antimony
32 grams Stargrass
302 ml Boom Berry Juice
23 drops Essence of Dittany
5 pieces Fire Seeds
15 pieces Pure Rock Salt
5 strips Wiggentree Bark
5 pieces Fresh Betony Leaves
Procedure:
Clean all equipment to be used: Cauldron, Scales, Stirrers, Phials, Etc.;
Bring 50 ml Distilled Water to a boil in medium heat;
Add finely chopped 32 grams of Stargrass. Use a silver dagger for this step;
Add 302 ml Boom Berry Juice and stir counter-clockwise for three minutes pause 5 seconds, and continue to stir the solution counter-clockwise for another two minutes. Use a glass stirrer for this step;
Remove the stirrer from the cauldron, and add 23 drops of Essence of Dittany into the solution;
Let 3 minutes pass, and then adjust the heat to low. Slowly add 5 fire seeds into the solution after 2 minutes. Use your dragon-hide gloves for this procedure;
Add 15 pieces of pure rock salt one by one, and stir the solution counter-clockwise for five minutes until the solution turns primrose yellow. This will indicate that the solution has been activated to counter the effect of poisoning;
Lay 5 strips of Wiggentree bark on the surface of the solution, and slowly push it one by one to the inner wall of your cauldron. Turn the heat back to medium and wait for the potion to boil;
Once bubbles appear, crush 5 fresh Betony Leaves with your hand, and add it to the boiling liquid. The potion should turn a shade of Sapphire Blue;
Wait five minutes, and then turn off the heat. Let the potion cool for 15 minutes, and then bottle it in glass phials using a clean Pasteur Pipette (dropper). Label your potions;
Scrape off the dreg at the bottom of the cauldron, and pack it in a tin box. Draw the Asclepius Staff with your wand, while saying the incantation: Venenum Inverto (nullify the poison).
Notes of interest:
The quantity of each ingredient is a product of Five; the number for Healing;
The stirring movement is counter-clockwise; activating the healing properties of each ingredient, ultimately reversing the effects of the poison;
The healing properties of each ingredient becomes more potent because of the presence of Fire Seeds. Said ingredient is born of the alchemical element fire, which represents life;
Salt is one of the Three Principles in Alchemy or one of the component s of the Universal Language of Nature. Naturally it is a product of the Earth and Water elements—the same elements associated with humans and beings. Salt can preserve (the body of the victim) and corrodes (to nullify the poison. In this context, it will absorb the dark/evil energies present), thus making the potion more potent;
The dreg can be used together with the potion to enhance its effect. The Asclepius Staff* should be drawn on the victim's tongue using the dreg while reciting the incantation: Venenum Inverto
*The Asclepius Staff is an alchemical symbol (and a universal medical symbol) for healing (or doctors in the muggle world).

Ronan couldn't help but let out a hearty chuckle as his human doodle pad finally noticed he had writing on his face. Classic.
He didn't have too much time to focus on that, though, as three minutes had passed already. He quickly lowered the flame to a low and waited for another two minutes. Good grief, a lot of waiting. Obviously this was one of those potions that it was best to keep on hand in case you needed it, instead of brewing it in the moment.
Once two minutes had passed, he slowly added the fireseeds one by one until all five were in the potion, then started adding the rock salt one by one.
......fourteen, fifteen.
And now it was time to stir again. Ronan picked up his glass stirrer, plopped it in his potion and started stirring. After five minutes, he had a yellow potion. He didn't know if it was the right yellow, not knowing what a primrose yellow looked like, but it would do. Next was the Wiggentree bark. He carefully layed each strip on the top of the potion, five total, and pushed them up against the side of the cauldron one by one. He followed that up by turning the heat back to medium and waited for it to boil.
Once the potion was boiling, he hand-crushed the betony leaves into his potion, watching it slowly turn a lovely sapphire blue. That done, he let the potion shimmer a good five minutes, put out the flames and let it cool a good fifteen minutes. Then he carefully filled his vials using the Pastur pipette and added the required amount of antimony to each before sealing them and labeling them with his name, house and year.
Yay, he was done! And with not a moment to spare.
Oh no, wait. He had to scrape the bark strips from his cauldron. Would be easier now that it was cool and empty, right? He carefully removed the strips, tucking them into the tin box and drawing the Asclepius Staff with his wand. "Venenum Inverto."
Now he was done.

Of how much information they were taking in, her quick quotes quill stopped writing - moments before it snapped in two. "Gaa!!" she said as the bottom half bounced off her cheekbone while the top half floated down towards the floor underneath someone else's desk.
"Sorry, sorry," she muttered embarrassedly as she soothed the part of her face where the feather had tickled, before glancing down at her notes to see what was written. Now she'd have to write using her hand, and unfortunately she'd have to use her broken quill since she didn't carry a spare. She could have stood up and requested an extra quill, but she didn't want to draw more attention to herself.
Next came the brewing. She was more than a little behind thanks to her cheap quill, but she was doing her best to catch up. "Scourgify!" she said, pointing her wand in turn to her cauldron, scales, etc. Satisfied with their cleanness, she took out her beautiful silver dagger and began cutting the Stargrass she'd collected from the Hospital Wing. Then she produced Boom Berry Juice (had to do this three times before it came out right) and poured it into her cauldron - making care not to splatter in her haste.
Stirring counterclockwise for three minutes, she pasued for five seconds before continuing to stir. Merlin's beard! At this rate she wouldn't ever catch up to her classmates, they were all sooooo far ahead of her.
Knowing the importance of staying calm, Kitty closed her eyes while stirring for the second two minutes and breathed like a Yogi. Relax. It's not the end of anyone if you don't do this in time. Be at peace.
Opening her eyes and feeling much better, she stopped stirring and counted out 23 drops of Essence of Dittany into the cauldron. Now she'd have to wait for three minutes to pass...

She was pleased as Professor Reed approved of her answer amongst those given. Though she didn’t have much time to dwell on the approval as the healer-turned-professor continued on, rapid-firing information about the two components of the future potion and how to handle them to have the proper results happen. Cassie paid strict attention to what was being said, doing her best to copy it all in her notes for future reference, especially since she was certain there was too much for her to remember precisely when she was finished with her brewing. Then she double-checked her ingredients list, laying out what supplies she had including divving up what she had collected with her partner. And finally the steps of the brewing process were added into her notes as well.
When finally, they were instructed to begin the Ravenclaw. “Scourgify,” she cast on her cauldron first and foremost, repeating the cleaning the spell on all of her equipment that would be needed. Then came the distilled water into her cauldron and an “Incendio,” that lit the fire beneath to bring the heat to medium and then the water to a boil. With the newly cleaned silver dagger, Cass finely chopped the collected stargrass, adding it once she was satisfied with the boil. Then she poured in the measured Boom Berry Juice into the cauldron and dipped the tip of her glass stirrer into the hot liquid.
Stirring one…two…three minutes counterclockwise.
Pausing 5 seconds.
And one…two more minutes of counterclockwise stirring.
The stirrer removed, the sixth year picked up the dittany and added the required 23 drops of the essence into her cauldron. She watched the hands of her watch, timing out 3 minutes before lowering the heat. Two minutes later, Cassie made sure her gloves were secure before carefully retrieving each of the collected fireseeds and slowly and cautiously adding them one by one into the brewimg potion. So far so good and the Ravenclaw was relieved. In went the pure rock salt one by one with stirring the potion counterclockwise for 5 minutes afterwards.

And since some of them were already done, River began to hand them out the liquefied antimony and watched them add it to their bottled solutions.
Ah. They still had Antimony to add?
It had been in the ingredients list but not the method, so she supposed it was a forgiveable oversight.
Rhea took the liquefied Antimony from the Healer and added the required amount of it to the solution in her glass phials, then passed it to Luci. There. Now she was done. After a quick glance around the room to see how everyone else was doing, she set about packing up her work station. She'd call that a successful lesson.
