Default Laboratoire des potions

The laboratory is a bright and airy windows-lined space, with clean white walls and lines of granite-topped workbenches facing a large demonstration table at the front. At the end of each bench is a sink, and small gas taps are spaced every couple of stools for your burner to be attached to. In the cupboards under the windows, you’ll find all the basic equipment - vials, conical flasks, distillation tubes, stirring rods, funnels, and so forth - neatly laid out in trays. On the shelves at the back of the room can be found all of the standard potions ingredients, ordered alphabetically. If you need anything more specialised, you’ll have to talk to one of the Potions Professors about accessing the storeroom.

On the demonstration table at the front of the room is a sign in book, logbook and list of rules. There are also several potions books for reference and inspiration. The Beauxbatons professor has very graciously allowed Hogwarts students to share this space, so please be mindful of other students working around you and don’t abuse the privilege.

Rules
  • Sign in with your name, year, house and potion being brewed.
  • If you need to leave your station for any reason, leave a note on your desk saying where in the recipe you’ve got up to, and how long you’ll be away. Any unattended potions without this information will be immediately banished.
  • Put equipment and ingredients back after use.
  • If you make a mess, clean it up. Extra-curricular brewing privileges will be removed for repeat offenders.
  • The lab will be open from breakfast and locked an hour before curfew.
  • Any questions or problems, please come and find one of the professors.
