Default Which is your favorite Harry Potter film? And why?

Which is your favorite Harry Potter film?
And why?

The original eight film adaptations of J.K. Rowling's blew the world away, but which blew you the most away?! Why is that? Were the additional scenes given to Tom Felton in his portrayal of Draco Malfoy in Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince what pushed you over the edge? Was seeing the Quidditch World Cup AND the Triwizard Tournament come to life on the big screen in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire enough to leave you stunned? Or perhaps Alan Rickman's unforgettable portrayal of Severus Snape in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 that propelled it to the top of your list? Whatever the reason, this is your space to share your favorite film and why!

I can't pick just one! That said, I love "HBP" because it gives you a little background on why Snape was so bitter and cold toward Harry (i.e., because of James and the other Marauders picking on him).

"Deathly Hallows" pt. 2: How can you beat an ending like this? Plus, you really get to see Neville come out of his awkward phase and be a true hero in the series.

I voted for HP and the Half-Blood Prince, but I must say I love them all and I cry watching every single one of them, happy and sad tears. A clear example would be when I cried like a proud mother when Harry performed his 1st Patronus, and when I cried like a widow when Dumbledore was killed.

Deathly Hallows Part 1.

They kept in so much of the small detail that much of the other films often skated over for the sake of driving plot etc!

Goblet of Fire made me realize for the first time that a whole wizarding world existed outside of Hogwarts and England. Absolutely loved seeing the other schools with my own eyes. The whole movie felt super alive! And was very pretty

My favorite movie by far is Prisoner of Azkaban, Alfonso Cuaron directed it beautifully and the cinematography is gorgeous

Goblet of Fire-- so many great scenes and drama. When Harry's slip shoots up from the goblet omg... following that, Dumbledore's fury toward Harry. The delicious portrayal of Bartie Crouch JUNIOR... "Mad Eye" Moody's tricks and conniving, the graveyard scene and Harry's dazzling escape... only to bring Cedric Diggory back to the horror of all ...

Right now, I am undecided between POS (because it was exceptionally well made) and TDH because everything finally comes to an end and our questions are answered.

Order of the Phoenix. I love the battle scenes and it’s where Luna first appears

I really like Order of the Phoenix for all the turmoil Harry goes through; Daniel Radcliffe's acting really shines in that one. In terms of humor, it's got to go to Half Blood Prince. There were just so many goofy moments. Even the serious ones tended to make me laugh!!

I have always loved PoA. I really, really like the changes Cuarón did (the location of the castle, Hagrid's Hut, the new grounds...). I think it's the one film that really portrays the tone of the story but also its settings. Plus, the soundtrack is gorgeous!

I really love HBP because it has funny and tragic elements.
While HBP is my favorite movie, I think DH 1 is the best adaptation of the series.

I think my favorite movie has to be The Goblet of Fire. I know that it was the farthest from the books, but its always so much fun to watch. You get to see what a real life, pro, Quidditch match would look like! Plus no one seemed to have gotten a hair cuteXD

The Prisoner of Azkaban is my favorite movie because Harry meets his Godfather and we're introduced to Remus Lupin.

I really liked Prisoner of Azkaban. It was pretty close to the books (as were the first 2 but PoA had a big tone shift). The whole feel to this movie was great, and I liked getting introduced to Remus and Sirius. The one thing I didn't like about this film is how they cut out the whole Marauder story line which could've been really quickly explained.

I also really liked Goblet of Fire, despite many changes.

I found the Goblet of Fire to be visually stunning, and as it was one of my favorite books I enjoyed it (once I detached my brain from being nitpicky with all they left out lol)

Two movies are my favourite, but if I had to pick it would be Harry Potter and Deathly Hallows part 2. Severus’s memories his pain clearly shows being used by not only the dark side but the light also. It’s just so raw. It hits home.

HP and the Deathly Hallows 2 was wonderful as it was closer to the book than the rest and with an epic conclusion (the scene were they safeguard Hogwarts with the shield always gives me the goosebumps).

I have to say that "Prisoner of Azkaban" was my favorite because it did the greatest justice to the source material than any other film. Granted, there was that one bit at the end that occurred out of sequence, but I feel like it was integrated seamlessly into the story itself. Alfonso Cuaron did a magnificent job.
I remember reading an interview for the film, which was with Alfonso and Jo, and she herself said the scene at the Shrieking Shack blew her away, it gave her goosebumps. She couldn't say why, but now after all these years, we can understand why: The Shrieking Shack was such an important setting, particularly in Deathly Hallows. I found myself extremely disappointed that it was not incorporated into the Yates film.
While I know that this thread is to discuss which movie you liked best and why, I can't help but express my disdain for Yates's direction. OOTP, HPB, and even DH left a lot to be desired. I think the least harm came to Deathly Hallows, and even then I think that's because he had the adaptation split in two installments. Alas, I digress.
Prisoner of Azkaban remains, in my eyes, the best of the Harry Potter films and it is only with grief that I regard Alfonso's decision to not direct another film (if not all subsequent installments).

Film wise, I enjoyed Sorcerer's / Philosopher's Stone the most. This was the film where I truly believed I was transported to a different world. I enjoyed how whimsical and magical it was. The soundtrack is my favorite. I know some people think the trio weren't the best actors in this film, but I thought this was the film where they seemed the most in character.

(Plus the school robes from the first two movies were the best. I don't like that they added the House colors to the hoods. But that might be because I was Hermione one year for Halloween, and my robes use the old design, so I'm biased.)
