| | Which Harry Potter book is your favorite? And why? Which is your favorite Harry Potter book?
And why?
The original seven works of J.K. Rowling captivated the hearts of young and old alike, but just which of them captivated yours the most?! Why is that? Were you transported along with Harry and his companions as an 11-year-old into the wizarding world in Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone? Perhaps learning the tragic back story of Tom Riddle in Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince was more your cup of tea? Or maybe it was seeing it all come together in its epic conclusion with Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows that truly captured you. Whatever the reason, this is your space to share your favorite book and why! I'll always have a soft spot for OttP. That's when the stakes really amp up, and when we get the extended dream team of the trio + Ginny, Luna and Neville.

Half blood prince I remember being a quick read for me because I couldn't put it down... I always wanted to know more about Snape and HBP gave me that in spades! It was the first book that my parents ever scalded me for reading to fast. As a child that overtly didn't like to read this confused me greatly.

| Love!
I LOVE LOVE LOVE them all! I am enjoying reading why people picked different books though and was interested to see Prisoner of Azkaban was in the lead. I just read the illustrated version and loved it!

Favourite book is either the 4th or the 6th. I love the 6th because it's near the end of the series but you always know it won't end by the end of the book. You finally get let in on all the secrets and can feel the series swelling to a crescendo.

| How To Choose A Book?
Can the eye exist without the head, or the foot without the leg?
Can volume One exist without the rest?
Can there be a beginning, without an end?
What exactly does that look like?
No, I can't pick one of the books above the others.
I believe a certain improvement in writing skills is evident along the way, so there are perhaps 'specifics' within the whole one might select, saying the latter demonstrates a more mature presentation in one way or another.
But this is very different from 'a favorite book.' What is our basis? Story development, or character development, or drawing of scenery, or event inclusion, or any other individual facet one might use to set one thing above?
No, no. It both exists and survives as a whole for me, the books maturing right along with their contents.

I would have to say that my favorite Harry Potter books are the Half-Blood Prince and the Deathly Hallows. I think I like them the most because they go into so much dark detail about Voldemort/Tom Riddle and Dumbledore. I really enjoy character building and background and learning all these gritty details about these characters was so fascinating to me.

Although I do love all the books, if I had to choose one I'd say I have developed a an appreciation for Deathly Hallows. The way JK wraps everything together is so perfect. The final moments of each character are so vital to their identity development. I especially love the revelations of characters we were trained to dislike or look passed that took a positive turn (relatively speaking) and left little grudge room for Harry and readers. On another note, we observe Harry grappling with the choice between horcruxes and hallows. I believe that everything he has experienced and learned has brought him to this juncture, where even the slightest deviation could profoundly shape the wizard he becomes.

I'm a huge fan of Goblet of fire because I like the Quidditch world cup beginning and the Tri Wizard tournament is a great plot device. I really like Half Blood prince with all the detective work that Harry and Dumbledore do. However any book that has scenes or chapter set outside of Hogwarts are great fun to read such as the visits to St Mungos in the Order of the Phoenix. I like reading about the wider magical world.

Azkaban and Phoenix. Because they have Sirius as a prominent character, and I always wanted a godfather so I can relate to Harry!

I love all of them, but my favorite has to be Chamber of Secrets because it gives us a bit of Voldemort's backstory for the first time, along with developing Harry's character some more.
