As you step through the double doors and into the Owlery, the first thing to come to your attention is the smell of it. Hundreds of owls have made this place their home, and while the staff do a good job of keeping the place clean, there's always going to be the wafting scent of owl poo. Watch out, as there may be a bit on the floor as well. The entire room is completely out of sync with the rest of the building; immediately across from the door is a wall made of aged stone, its surface cracked and rough. Small alcoves have been carved into it, from the floor to the ceiling (which is twice as high in this room as it was in the last), for the owls to rest in. A few stray feathers may be found on the floor, or alternately may float down from above and land on those who venture closer to the wall. On the right wall, there is a small room with a closed door, marked ' Do Not Enter: Staff Only'. Right next to this is another door, ' Mail Room' written directly on the surface in shiny gold letters.
Please don't disturb the owls. They may poo on you in protest. Premises Map  | |

TJ slipped quietly into the Owlery; his footsteps were still rather loud compared to the soft hoots of the owls, however, and a few sets of large eyes turned to stare at him as he trekked across the floor. Avoiding owl droppings left and right, even flicking his wand at some to vanish them (Marty had not cleaned before he'd left this morning, and it was obvious), his scanned the owl alcoves for one specific creature.
"Fuuuuuurmy. Furmgoat, come down."
The owl took his sweet time, his wonky wing unfolding after a moment of deliberation to carry himself down to Trystan's outstretched arm.
Good owl. TJ turned on the spot and immediately headed back toward the office. |

Celestina entered the owl post owlery only to be halted mid-step by a backhanded slap of poo stench.
"WOW!" she exclaimed nasally as she pinched her nose with one hand. Bucky held the packaged of pickled vegetables close to her flat chest. "Sure smells like poop in here! And I thought Rosemary was bad whenever Adri feeds her canned peas."
The thin witch tilted her head, copper strands cascading with her movements. Is that what they fed the owls here? It would make sense. Those peas were a dangerous vegetable. It was why she wasn't sending them to her Pops. Ever.
The room seemed deserted aside from the obvious: the owls. The sole Warbuck daughter shook her head in confusion and approached the tall wall of birds, wondering if this was some kind of self-service business.
All you can eat owls. Self-serve buffet. No doggy bags.
That couldn't be it. "Helloooooooooooo?" called out the green-eyed woman before reaching out to poke an owl. POKEPOKEPOKE. "Do you talk?" she asked it, leaning in towards its snapping beak. "Helloooo?" she spoke into the beak. "Are you guys open? Are you on break? Should I come back later?"

Asami had no plans of opening the supply closet door and making her presence known when she heard a woman enter the owlery.
She was too busy organizing and counting supplies and stuff to be bothered with the complaints of some woman who couldn't handle the stench of the place. Though it really wasn't a smell one simply adjusted to. She still hadn't grown used to the strong stench.
Inhaling deeply, thankful the stench from the owlery couldn't waft into the supply closet, she turned her full attention back to the supplies in front of her. Hmm.
Then the woman spoke again. Was she speaking to the owls?
Cracking the door open, she poked her head out. Frowning slightly when she spotted a woman speaking to one of the owls.
Odd.
"They won't respond back. Least not in any language you'll understand."

"Oh!" exclaimed Celestina, looking down at the miffed owl. It ruffled its feathers, and gave Bucky his best cross-eyed angry bird look. "I'm sorry," mumbled the woman in an apology. She would have patted it on the head if she hadn't been carrying a package and, well, honestly, he looked like he could take her finger off at the moment.
It was hard enough finding dates in her current ten fingered state. If she were to start missing a finger, Bucky wasn't sure she'd be any more successful at dating than she was now.
"Oh, I only speak English," said the witch. It seemed the Owl Caretaker was under the impression Bucky was some kind of linguist. That was laughable. Celestina didn't even understand English from time to time. "I have to send this package to my Pops. He lives in a farm."
Bucky blinked.
"In Ireland," she added as an afterthought. | |

She was upsetting the owls. Great. That was just what she needed, a bunch of upset owls that still needed to be groomed. Asami sighed internally. At least she the place had already been cleaned. Though it might not have been obvious to the first time visitor or going by smell alone.
Her lips pursed, and the woman considered responding before closing her mouth. That wasn't what she had meant, but she let the comment pass in favor of the woman's next comment. Eyes drifting down to regard the package. Hm.
"We don't service customers in here, this is just where the owls reside when they're not working. You passed the service desk right before entering." Strong possibility no one was sitting there if she was back here asking for assistance. "We can go there now and I can help you get that mailed off."
Her head inclined towards the package.
"Unless you'd like to....speak some more with the owls." Asami's expression said she didn't mind either choice. Though if she decided to stay with the owls, Asami would be staying in the closet. They didn't seem to take well to the woman.

Asami's eyes lingered on the owls the woman was walking away from, who seemed to be glad she was leaving, before turning to the woman herself. Good. Meant she didn't have to deal with a miffed owl later.
"Okay then," she exited the supply room, carefully closing the door behind her as she did. "Follow me and I'll help you get it sent off." Making a vague motion with her hand, she led the way out of the owlery. The red head would follow, right?

Owls were tricky pets. Celestina had learned as much while she studied at Hogwarts. They were moody, had sharp claws and beaks and were, in general, incredibly unpredictable. Bucky couldn't trust them as far as she could throw them, which probably didn't say much. Could Bucky even catch an owl long enough to chuck it across the room?
No. Probably not.
"Okie dokie!" chirped the red-head walking in quick steps behind the employee and following her out to--well, wherever she was taking her to take care of the package business. Gosh, sending mail was almost too complicated for Bucky to be bothered with it. Next time she'd just ask Briony to help her. Brie had a knack for getting things done quickly. She was so efficient! | |

Gregory walked into the Owlery and a smile came to his lips. Sooooooo many owls. YAY! They were just so much easier to deal with. He headed over to some of the alcoves that were close to him and reached out to pet the heads of the owls there. "Hi guys. On a break?" He chuckled to himself and took out of his pocket a handful of owl pellets. "Good boys," he said as he watched.

Having grown used to the stench of the owls, Asami seemed un-phased by the smell as she made her way into the owlery towards the supply closet. She needed to escape her job without.... escaping her job. And seeing how her office was still in boxes, the closet would have to do, as it had before she got promoted.
It didn't take her long to realize she wasn't alone, her steps slowing to a stop as she looked at the man feeding the owls. Hm. "Mr. Michaels?" He looked like one of her new hires, the older one she assumed.

Of course he hadn't seen her she had walked up behind him. He felt one of the owls nudging his hand for more treats and he scratched it's head. "D-did you need me for something ma'am?" He asked looking anywhere but at her.

Some of the owls were just returning from long journeys, while others were departing, and the rest... sleeping. She looked at them fondly and waited for her soon-to-be new assistant.
Head on in, new girl.

In the center of a flock of owls returning from overnight deliveries was Herjenmie. The large eagle owl swooped through the large opening into the owlery quietly focused on his perch. He had been flying all night, stopping only to hunt for small rodents, and he was ready to rest his large owl eyes.
He didn't miss the two humans either. No he was just going to ignore them... until he realized one was the boss person, and the other. She was new. Settling onto his perch in an aclove, Herjenmie's eagle eyes fixed on her and staaaaaaared.
"Hoo."
Whooo, are you human?

As Nate walked in he looked back to see if his older sister was still watching him because he can't leave he sites. She gave the thumbs up when he looked. He looked all around. And then he saw a mighty eagle owl. He looked at it in amazement. After a few moments of silence and staring he went off somewhere else in the owlery.

Ameliah walked in to see the owls. She had always loved owls. They seem to be watching you raptly, even while sleeping. There were many handsome owls that blinked slowly while she looked. In her endless stare at the owls, she seemed to not have noticed someone else in there. She bumped into him gently. "Oh! I'm so sorry!" she said quickly, taking a step back.
