I think Dumbledore is the least like his book character. The movies make him more serious than he really is. Though, the HBP improved on this.

I think for me it's the non-existence of characters such as Bill and Charlie Weasly that annoys me. I know Bill is making an appearance in DH but as he plays such an important role, with the wedding and Shell Cottage, I really feel that he should have been introduced in the films earlier.
Also, I feel Neville's role has been cut too much, as he is another character who plays such an important role in the final book.
Actor wise, I was disappointed with Gary Oldman as Sirius Black, I just imagined him younger and a bit 'cooler'!
The actress portraying Luna, however, is superb - casting at its best!

(Oh, and Wotcher is a way of saying hello!)

I'm glad Neville's role was cut, he is one of the most pathetic characters in the series.....

He may be pathetic but if DH stays on course with the books, he becomes a huge character.

Yeah he becomes a huge character who commands plants to attack and get out of a curse because of SOMEONE ELSE'S sacrifice and kill a snake. Big Deal.

I was just upset about what they've done to Tonks. She's a very bubbly, cheerful and funny witch. But nothing of these characteristics were shown. I don't care about how she looks like, 'cause even though she didn't had that short spiky hair, and ever changing hair color, I see that Natalia Tena just introduced the character physically perfect for me. She had the energy and appeal that really fits for Tonks. But the sad thing here is that, she didn't got much screen time that will show the angst and enthusiasm of her character. What a great disappointment! Nat was a lovely and cool actress either, which I believe is the perfect item Tonks also possess!

It's sad to know Ginny isn't portrayed as well as in the books after GoF. They really didn't give Bonnie a chance to show much personality, all her interactions with Harry in Ootp were omitted and given to Luna (who pulled it off nicely). Not to mention, all the times you see her she doesn't say much, but make eye contact. I think the directors were hoping for Luna/Harry to happen so they put Ginny into the background until after HBP came out, they realized Harry/Ginny were meant to be, so they had no choice but to reinvent the connection between them two.

Snape and Narcissa are very different from book to movie for me. Snape is almost to cartoonish for me. I mean when Harry used the sectumsempra curse on Draco, Snape LET. HIM. GO.!!! I couldn't belive it when that happend. When I got the movie on DVD I was acctually yelling at him "He ripped up Malfoy and you don't even take off friggin' house points for this. What the heck!" All he did was give him a nasty look. :rolls eyes: I mean, (I like Mr. Rickman FOR the role of Snape. I just don't like what the writers did WITH his character. I mean the flash back to when he was a teenager in OotP made me gag. The whole point of that part was that he called Lilly a MB. Instead they made James out to be this teenage monster and Snape the poor little bullying victum, When he actually gave as good as he got.)
Anyway back to my main point: When he wasn't letting kids get away with kutting other kids up in bathrooms, he was smaking them up the side the the head with books. (Which he never did in the books) or just plain not their at all.
Narcissa for me wasn't AT ALL how I pictured when I read the books she wasn't all that emtional like she was in the books and, I have to say it, what the heck was going on with her hair? I just did not get her as Naricissa at all. To this day I picture a different person.
Every one else is great though, Yes I even love Micheal Gambon as Dumbledore and Bonnie Wright as Ginny. Yes I belive they could have done more with her character but Bonnnie is the one who makes Ginny work in the movies even when they don't give her much to do she still has a stong pressence on screen.

Ginny... They have removed almost every scene with her in the movies... But that's great anyway, I don't like the girl who plays her.

Tonks - She's my favourite in the book, but in the movies, she just didn't do anything for me. Although Natalia Tena is a wonderful actress, I think if they just changed her looks for the movies she would be perfect.

Narcissa - Personality wise, I think Helen McCrory is spot on, but everyone is so picky about her hair in the movie. I'm probably one of the few who actually like's her hair in the movie, but while reading the book it's not how I pictured the charecter.
side note: I wish Helen had played Bellatrix. Don't get me wrong, I still love Helena in the role, but after all, Helen was the first choice for Bella.

Hear Hear!

What I really disliked was that there was no 'Wotcher!' in the films. And in HBP, they could of shown a bit more of her depression.

Really, a poorly written role, but awesome actress!

look.. daniel doesnt really fit in the role of harry.. many would agree that he is much less emotional than harry.. and no t showing much care for his friends like harry does.. but i believe its not his fault.. he has to do what director asks him to.. and according to books, harry is normal in height, however dan is short

I think Ginny was the most misrepresented character. More of the supporting characters were not how I imagined them, more physically than in their actions, though. I think there is too much of a difference between the two actors playing Dumbledore; it should have been more fluid, as Dumbledore remains the same character regardless of who is portraying him on screen.
Tonks, also, was quite different from how I had imagined.
Also, the trio weren't quite as much their characters as they could have been. I do not think any of the three were miscast, but at times the way they acted was rather out of character.
I still think the film version of Ginny was the least like the character in the books.

I could be fun, if you want, pensive, smart... I could be whatever you want.

well, Ginny, Tonks and Dumbledore (Michael)

Don't shoot me...but neither Richard Harris or Michael Gambon were what I imagined for Dumbledore. A mix of the two would be perfect - Harris' wise, fatherly Dumbledore with the toughness of Gambon. Gambon's plays Dumbledore too aggressively and poor Richard Harris just seemed tired.

Sirius is my biggest disappointment, personally. I just don't see the handsome, charismatic man he's written to be.

A ship in harbor is safe — but that is not what ships are built for.

I think they're all pretty good. They all really matches the characters in the books. But I had to say the second Dumbledore's a little too energetic. And Ginny in the movies aren't as pretty as Rowling described in the books.

I have to say that Michael Gambon has been a reall dissapointment for me in the 3-5, and he got slightly better in 6. I think it may have to do with the fact that he has said, in many an interview, that he has never read any of the books. I would have hoped that he would have liked to under stand his character more, understand how Dumbledore was magic. How eccentric, loyal, calm, forgiving, loving and good he was.

This is very true compared to all the other portrayals, Slughorn looks nothing like he was described as in the book, but HE PLAYS THE PART PERFECTLY

Fleur in the 7th film and even in GoF was never how I pictured her. She didn't act 'prissy' or important enough.

Hmm, this is a toughy, firstly can I say that Gambon portrayed Dumbledore perfectly, all this anti-Gambon talk is utterly ridiculous, he was perfection in that role, he totally understood Dumbledores livelyness and wiseness!

For me, the charecter least like the books is probably Percy. His character is wasted in the films. In the books for a time you really loathe him, and this just is not included in the films. For those who have only ever seen the movies, they would not know about his complete gitness!!
